A Love Catastrophe is a feel-good, sweet, romantic story about Miles Holden and Kitty, the Kitty Whisper. Kitty is internet famous as a knowledgeable, cat-loving, professional cat sitter if you will. Miles reaches out to her when he needs help taking care of his mother's cat Prince Francis (who could probably have a novella all about him and his antics). Miles and Kitty didn't hit it off and honestly, it took me a while to warm up to Miles but he eventually won me over (stick with him; he is worth the journey). Kitty and Miles begin a partnership taking care of Prince Francis and working on his naughty behavior. As they open up, a friendship develops and one night when Kitty needs Miles, he is very glad to help her out. The books had several different facets that I really thought brought the whole thing together. Both Miles and Kitty were dealing with guilt related to their parents. Kitty was really hanging onto the past and was kind of stuck but there were several things that happened during the book that helped get her moving again and even helped her career-wise. I also liked how supportive Miles was when Kitty was hurting emotionally. He did everything in his power to either shield her from what was going on or to make things easier for her. This story also shows the positive side of not going the "norm" and being confident enough to be yourself as well as poke fun at yourself, which Kitty does. I felt happy and giddy after reading A Love Catastrophe.

Kitty has a successful cat-sitting business, the Kitty Whisperer, which Miles utilizes when his mother is temporarily hospitalized. They find themselves pushed together in many (rather humorous) circumstances and start to indulge in their mutual attraction. But she's a cat person, and he's a dog person... Could it ever work?
This book had all the heart and good vibes of a Helena Hunting book, just covered in a blanket of quirky and awkward. I have to say the author really committed to the theme here - there are A LOT of cat puns. At times it felt like a bit of a shtick and bordered on cringey, but if you can look beyond that, there is lots of goodness hiding below in the form of tender and charming characters with good development, some sensitive issues that are dealt with compassionately, and plenty of laughs.
Thank you to Forever and NetGalley for gifting me with an ARC to review. I enjoyed it!

I thought this book was going to be light hearted and whimsical. And to a degree it was but it also punched you right in the heart. I think this book did a nice job of talking about grief and how it can affect your life and those around you.
Kitty runs her own cat sitting business and Miles is in need of a cat sitter while his mom is in the hospital. At first they seem to clash but as they get to know each other and realize that they both went through serious tragedies in their lives they start really getting to know each other. They help each other grow and move on and I really loved that aspect of this book.

The Love Catastrophe by Helena Hunting is a cute and quirky contemporary romance with fun puns and a unique cast of characters. Kitty Hart is a cat whisperer hired by Miles Thorn to care for his mother’s beloved cat as she faces long-term care at a facility. Kitty and Miles couldn’t be more different, and their meet-cute isn’t so cute. But once she sees Prince Francis, the troublesome feline, Kitty jumps at the chance to care for him even though she isn’t a fan of Miles. However, the more she gets to know Miles, the more Kitty realizes she might have prejudged him, and they slowly begin falling for each other.
There are a ton of cat puns at the start of the story since that is part of Kitty’s schtick, and they were purr-fect additions to the story. But once Miles gets to know her as more than a cat caretaker, Kitty’s cat persona drops, as do most of the puns. Kitty and Miles’s relationship progresses nicely from strangers to friends to more. Theirs isn’t a high-stakes, risky relationship filled with obstacles, but some of their obligations, insecurities, and emotional struggles, especially Miles’s stress at his new job and his mother’s health issues and Kitty’s stagnation and fear of change, stand in their way.
The story isn’t all lighthearted romance. It delves into grief in both Miles and Kitty’s pasts and details how that pain defines their present. Both lost loved ones when they were young, and those tragedies deeply affected them. These heavier themes contrast with the lighter, comical scenes. Miles and Kitty have a few laugh-out-loud scenes that totally made me chuckle. Kitty and Miles also have great friends, and I have a feeling many of them will have their own stories in the future. And a special shout out to Prince Francis for being my favorite character in the book! That cat is a rascal, and he stole the show in so many scenes. I’m not a big cat person, but I totally want a Prince Francis!
I do wish there were a bit more chemistry between the pair, though. Also, it took a while for me to warm up to Miles. He wasn’t the most likable character for me at first, and I didn’t love how he was with his mother for most of the book. That being said, he grew on me as the story developed and his character grew, and I think he and Kitty were good influences on each other. And the way he defended and supported Kitty when a social media situation threatens her livelihood was fantastic.
This is a purr-fect read if you like cat-tastic feline puns, awkward and funny friends-to-lovers romance, a great cast of secondary characters, and some deeper, more emotional themes. Thanks to Forever Publishing and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of the book. All thoughts are my own.

It's an idealistic romance, but it's also a fun read!
This movie takes a quirky likable female character and a supportive golden retriever of a male character and puts them together with no miscommunication or conflict. Is that a little bland? It can be, but it can also be refreshing.
What this book does right is include the families of our main characters. This adds a level of depth to the relationship the main characters are forming and makes the stakes a bit higher with regards to their prospective futures.
I also really like that the third act conflict in this story doesn't involve miscommunication between the two main characters or a breakdown in their relationship. The conflict doesn't make you question the intentions of the character, it allows them to grow together in their relationship, which is great for the believability of their romance.
Is this an earth shattering, change your life kind of romance? No. Will you have fun reading it? I really think you will.
And you're a cat lover? Even better!

I love Helena Hunting and had high expectations going into A Love Catastrophe. No surprise, she delivered and fantastic story. I like my romance to have a healthy dose of comedy and this had so many great moments of humor. Kitty Heart is a cat whisperer, but you do not need to be a cat lover to really enjoy this wonderful character. A Love Catastrophe is a wonderful example of rom-com done right, with its balance of light and deep topics, characters that are complex and relatable, and flowing story.
Thank you NetGalley and Forever Publishing for the advanced reader copy. This is my honest review.

This book was so fun! I loved Kitty and Miles. This book was so well written and the characters were fantastic.

This book is paw-sitively delicious! Hunting delivers another fun and intriguing set of characters who draw you in and glue you to your Kindle! Kitty is wonderfully delightful as creates a world and profession out of her passion. Kitty embodies her name: warm, sweet, and engaging like a kitten but not afraid to let out her claws if needed. When Miles Thorn enters her life, he's as prickly as his name denotes. He's in an impossible situation of managing his mom's cat, a burgeoning career, and his mother's health. Definitely not the best first impression on Kitty.
But the beauty of Hunting's characters is finding out what's beneath. In this case, what's under the thorns and claws. What she gives us is well-developed chemistry, a slowly unfurling plot to keep us enticed, and just enough humor to make us chuckle out loud.
As usual, Hunting's clever naming of her characters brings new levels of depth to her characters. And I would be remiss if I didn't give a massive shout-out to Prince Francis for stealing any scene in which he appeared. He needs an award for Best Supporting Character - 5 gold claws!

A quick read that flies by! There are some laugh out loud moments in this sunny vs grumpy romance - starting at the very beginning when Miles is looking up the Kitty Whisper website at work. Kitty Hart has just the right quirk you expect with Helena Hunting’s characters. If you are looking for a light-hearted rom-com, I recommend this book.

A Love Catastrophe was a lighthearted, easy summer read. Low angst and high on laughs that will be perfect for a relaxed Sunday afternoon.
A cat loving woman and grumpy stuck-with-his-mum's-cat guy meet and cue the hilarious interactions. I'm not really a cat person and don't understand those people who are obsessed with them, but I couldn't help but love Kitty. Miles was just one grumpy sweetheart that I was swooning over. Their attraction was palpable and their story was so fun to experience.
This was a heartwarming quick read, that I would definitely recommend if you're in the mood of a palette cleanser with something sweet, fun and easy.

Such a lovely book 😍
This book follows Kitty “the kitty whisperer” and Miles Thorn.
Kitty has a cat sitting business and Miles is in need of her services.
Miles hires Kitty to cat sit his mothers cat Price Francis. Miles is in the process of rehoming his mother due to some health concerns. She has been living in their family home alone for some time and it has become difficult.
Kitty and Miles don’t start off necessarily irking each other very much, but as the time goes by they realize that they have more in common than they thought.
Very touching and heartwarming
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Kitty Hart is the Cat Whisperer. She makes her living taking care of peoples cats. She does this for people on vacations or daily while they work. Cats need human interaction just like dogs. She also has a modest sized social media following posting about how to care for and train cats. Miles Thorn is a numbers guy. He is a data analyst to help with team performance for a NHL team in Toronto. His mother is the hospital and he has been feeding her cat but now needs to travel with the team.
First impressions don’t go well but once she sees the cat she is on the job. There are a whole lot of cat puns to start in the books and I was glad to see that fade as the story progresses. Their friendship grows through texts, visits and finally a date. This is light hearted romance with two adults who use their words to share about their pasts and current situations. There is enthusiastic consent once you get past the more silly I’m a dog guy stuff.
I know the author from reading the very enjoyable Spark House series. Like in those books some harder topics are inserted into the romance. In this book both Kitty and Miles has had a family member die, and other topics include caring for a parent with dementia, parents divorcing and social media issues. But Kitty and Miles are adorable as are their four legged friends. I’m assuming this is the first of a new series and there will be a book for Kitty’s best friend and cat cafe owner Kat. I will be eagerly waiting to read it or whatever the author pens next.
Thank you to Netgalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for the eARC and I am leaving a voluntary review.

Another Helena Hunting hit!
Kitty and Miles were DESTINED from the beginning. Oppsites attract gold right here. Miles Thorn needs a kitty sitter for his moms cat while she is in hospital, Kitty takes care of the cat but ends up getting way more than she bargained for. I loved it!
Thank you Netgalley for this ARC to review in exchange for my honest oppinion.

This new story from Ms. Hunting is absolutely purr-fect! (yeah, I did that.)
This is the story of Kitty and Miles.
As always, Ms. Hunting writes a story that is full of heart, heat, and hilarity!
I love the adorkableness of both Miles and Kitty. Their dialogue, upon meeting, is charming, funny, and smart.
Both of them come into this relationship with some tragedy in their pasts, and it has left lasting effects. But as their relationship blossoms from business, to friendship, and to more, you see how they are two puzzle pieces that fit together amazingly.
I admired the vulnerability that both Miles and Kitty have, I love the element of hockey and the secondary characters deserve stories of their own.
From this story, I have learned to love my own cat more, to work on teaching her some basic manners (yeah, right), and have a little giggle when she is cleaning her "toe beans".
Even if you are not a fan of cats, get your hands on this phenomenal new story! You won't regret it.

I love Helena Hunting - she is such a fun and heartwarming storyteller! I loved this book and it will be the perfect summer beach read! Definitely pick it up and check it out!!

A Love Catastrophe is such a wonderful laugh out loud read. I loved this one so much. I could not get enough of Kitty, Miles and Prince Francis. Kitty loves her job and she has this way with the cats she works with. She has this quirkiness that you will just love. Miles is more of a dog person then a cat. He finds himself in need of some help when his mom is unable to care for her cat. Miles is good with numbers and has this way about him that you will just love. I love Miles and Kitty together. There is something so sweet even in the slightly more emotional moments. There is so many laugh out loud moments that will make you fall hard for Kitty, Miles and Prince Francis. Kitty and Miles have family loss in common and both have yet to really heal until they found each other. I just love where this quirky romance goes and how Miles and Kitty support each other through everything. I could not put this one down. You need to meet Prince Francis, Kitty and Miles today.

Thank you for the opportunity to review this new novel.
I'm rather tired of reading books that's supposed being about adults but the characters act like they're twelve years. What in the world was the authors idea about Kitty? She couldn't talk like an adult. I had to put it down, i couldn't stand the dialogues :(

3.5/5
HH is one of my go tos when I want a cute rom com because she has always delivered in the banter department as well as the cute department. This one was definitely adorable and fun, it’s very soft and light meaning there’s no major conflict between the characters, which honestly is fine with me I don’t always need a big and dramatic third act breakup. Kitty and Miles seem like total opposites at first glance but as they get to know each other they realize they have quite a lot in common including difficult stuff in their families. There’s lots going on in terms of grief and loss and the author handled it in a sweet and beautiful way. I have a tiny gripe though, as much as I knew this would have cat puns the amount of them was a little much for me and gave the whole thing a slightly immature feel for me. But overall this was a really cute read

This is a super cute romance. I love how awkward the main characters are - it felt so true to life and real. I have to give it only 4.5 stars because I wish it was dog focused instead of cats! It is also slightly over the top cheesy at some points.
Thanks to NetGalley and publisher for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

Adorable stand alone full of the signature humor you expect from Helena Hunting.
We get grumpy allergic to cats Miles who needs to take care of his mother's house and cat while travelling for work. Solution? Hire a professional cat sitter.
Kitty the Kitty Whisperer is perfect for the job. She has an affinity for felines, can train them out of problem behaviors (like knocking over all the smashables in Mile's mom's house) and is willing to help even when Miles insults the cat missing his human (though in my opinion, a sphynx cat that lurks between the china figures and purposefully knocks them over is totally deserving of a lovable nickname "Gremlin").
Both of these characters learn to look deeper at each other and bond over unfortunate (yet sometime funny) events, past trauma/grief and learn to move forward with their life forgiving themselves and others.
I really enjoyed this one. It built slowly but then it hit a pivot point and I didn't want to stop reading.
I requested and received an advance copy of the eBook. These are my honest opinions.
