As a lifelong cat person, I was excited to read A Love Catastrophe. A romance featuring a cat-sitter and heaps of adorable pets? Sign me up! Fittingly, I read this whole book with my own cat either in my lap or right by my side; she’s an excellent reading buddy.
Early on, A Love Catastrophe feels like a fun and silly book. Kitty and Miles are both so awkward (occasionally cringey), especially around each other, and they butt heads right away due to Miles being not only a dog lover, but a (shudder) cat hater. He doesn’t hide his disdain for felines either, which understandably rubs Kitty the wrong way. But as it so happens, he’s not so bad… and he may eventually come around to realizing how sweet and awesome cats are.
However, don’t be fooled by the cutesy premise! A Love Catastrophe goes into some surprisingly emotional directions. Miles’s mother has dementia, and a major plot point is dealing with her cognitive decline and need to be placed in a new home. Both Miles and Kitty have experienced painful losses: His younger brother died in childhood, and her father died when she was a teenager. There are a lot of heart-to-heart conversations surrounding grief, guilt, and a family’s difficulty in moving forward after tragedy. It’s heavy, so have your tissues ready. Personally, I identified with many of these themes. I’ve also lost my father and have seen a grandmother suffer through dementia, so these aspects cut close for me.
Another major theme here is Kitty’s professional journey. Later in the book, we get to see her work through growing pains as her business expands. I love seeing a woman entrepreneur experience career success, and although Kitty faces some tough circumstances, it’s overall an empowering side story.
A Love Catastrophe weaves in a lot: Family relationships and grief, career growth, and a steamy romance that goes from awkward to sweet to truly wholesome. It’s a tad cringey in parts, but the overall substance and joy makes up for those parts.
A Love Catastrophe is paws-itively delightful, both during the laugh-out-loud scenes and during the tear-jerkers. It’s a love story not just between a new couple, but also between family members and for the cats and dogs in our lives. If you love pets or family dynamics, this is a romance worth reading.

This is a sweet, funny and entertaining story, perfect for a rainy afternoon in front of the fireplace with a cup of coffee and all my cats accompanying me to read, I love all Helena Hunting romcoms and this is no exception.
Miles and Kitty are polar opposites and their relationship starts off on the wrong foot, but as the plot progresses they realize they have more in common than they first thought. Miles is so sweet and Kitty is my spirit animal, I related so much to her talking to the cats.
A Love Catastrophe is a romantic, tender and hilarious comedy, it made me laugh out loud and it felt like a balm to my heart, perfect for lovers of Hallmark movies. highly recommended

I am a huge fan of Helena Hunting’s work so I was excited to read this. Her hockey books are my favorite so I was excited to see her stick with that theme, although Miles is a statistician and not a hunky player. He hires Kitty the Kitty Whisperer to take care of his mom’s hairless cat while she is ill. They get off to a rough start and social media drama ensues, but they figure it out in the end.
This is not my favorite of her books, though I did enjoy it. Kitty was a bit immature, and a major plot point (the allergic reaction) just sort of faded into the background. I also missed the Helena Hunting spice. But it was overall an enjoyable read.

A Love Cat by H. Hunting, published by Forever Grand Central Publishing/ Hachette Book Group Inc, is a purry perfect rom/com and tells Miles and Kitty's story.
The data analyst for a NHL Team and the self employed cat sitter are perfect for each other, are good people with some hang-ups, but who's hasn't?
I was giddily waiting for stories about the fur babies and I wasn't disappointed. They wrere great.
This warm and heart-felt story gives all the fuzzy feelings. Reading this wonderful book is like coming home and snuggling up on the couch reading your favorite book.

A Love Catastrophe is a funny, emotional ride and I enjoyed every single moment of it! Miles is an awkward stats guy for an NHL team, and Kitty is a quirky woman that runs her own cat sitting business who embraces her weird. The two of them together have an amazing chemistry that I am here for.

Helena Hunting is an author I consider a must-read, her rom-coms are always adorable, full of characters that jump off the page with unique characteristics and fun antics that keep me surprised.
Kitty was such a quirky, unexpected character, and I LOVED Miles' role as an analyst and how the hockey team was involved in the romance. To me, this book combined the heavier topics (check out the trigger warnings before reading) with a sweet meet-cute, and I had not read a book that so carefully and beautifully took on showing a character being a caretaker for a parent, and the emotional toll of being in that position as an adult. To me, Hunting gave us a character that was easy to fall for, not just the fluff and love that I appreciate but a well-developed character I could relate to.
4.25 stars for me, I really enjoyed it and would highly recommend this one for those who love cats, sporty romance and unique characters who are easy to enjoy with great chemistry!

Miles needs a cat sitter to look after his mom's cat, as he determines how to get her care in the early stages of dementia. And he comes across Kitty, the Kitty Whisperer's, Instagram page. Their first meeting does not go well, as he insults his mom's cat and clashes with Kitty. I have to agree with Miles that Prince Francis sounds like an awful gremlin but am also impressed by how well Kitty loves and trains the cat.
This book was so much fun in the midst of what could be a really sad story. Both Kitty and Miles are grieving and dealing with troubled pasts. But the cats add levity and so many funny antics. And there are so many puns. I think too many contemporary romances get labeled as rom-coms without actually being funny. But this isn't one of those. Helena Hunting is the queen of rom-coms and can write joy and humor into more difficult circumstances.
The book brings in just a smidge of hockey romance (a subgenre that Helena Hunting writes especially well) with Miles working as a data analyst for a hockey team. I hope that means that we'll get more books in this same story world.
Thank you to Forever and NetGalley for the advanced reader copy. These opinions are my own. I have already pre-ordered a paperback and recommend you do the same.

A Love Catastrophe by Helena Hunting was a fun, rom com with a light, feel good story. Miles and Kitty have one hilarity after another. Kitty is the cat whisperer and Miles is in need of someone to care for his mother’s cat. The two meet and the mishaps begin. It’s like a comedy of errors at first.
The story started out a bit slow but I loved it in the end. Kitty is fun, quirky and adds so much humor to the story. Miles is a bit more serious, even grumpy at times, but Kitty brings out another side in him.
Together these two were perfect. I loved getting to know the characters. A fun, story with great characters that will leave you smiling!

I gave it my best shot but this one just didn’t work for me. Although I did finish the book, I also skimmed a bit. I found the characters in this book on the childish side and I had a hard time getting past that. There was little chemistry between them, everything moved way too fast for me to make it realistic and the way they constantly appologized to each other drove me nuts. Also they were both just so nice and sweet and understanding ( I know, these are not bad things) but instead of getting all the feels, I was just rolling my eyes. So although I can’t really pinpoint any one thing, the combination of all these little annoyances just ruined it for me. I’m sure this will work for others but it just wasn’t for me.

“You’re a sunrise in human form,” I tell her. “And I’m lucky I get to see you shine every single day.”
Kitty and Miles. She’s a professional cat sitter, also known as the Kitty Whisperer. He’s a hockey nerd that loves dogs and hates cats. He hires her to take care of his mom’s cat, but they start off on the wrong foot. They later discover that they have a lot in common which makes their relationship grow more.

Kitty Hart is the Cat Whisperer and Miles is in dire need to for cat help after placing his mom in a long-term care facility in this grump/sunshine rom-com, A Love Catastrophe. Kitty is such a light. She’s eccentric and quirky and so authentically herself, I really admired her. Miles too takes on all of his strife with such poise and care with his mom. I did have a little trouble believing their chemistry, but the banter and the support between these two is really beautiful. The story is emotional and funny with a lot of heart and there is such a strong community! Plus all the pets were such a fun addition and I loved how Kitty’s relationship with the pets helped Miles grow. All of the furry friends added such charm in this sweet rom-com.

I normally love Helena Hunting’s books but this one was a bit of a miss for me. I found the FMC to be a bit juvenile and that made it hard to read sometimes. But it did get an extra half a star for not having a third act break up! I love when books don’t have one. They are almost expected in romance novels, especially in rom coms. So when a book has a different third act conflict I love it.

Sweet and swoony, with a generous dash of wit, A Love Catastrophe was exactly the story I needed! Grumpy/sunshine is my favourite trope and this one was done so very well. I loved Kitty’s whimsy and felt she was the perfect foil for the broody Miles. Their story was so genuine and, while it definitely had some highly emotional moments, ultimately, I felt so much joy reading it.

I’ll start by saying this is not my first read from this author. I’ve read two of her other books, which I’ve enjoyed. This one was not for me. I was not expecting the amount of cat in this book.
Kitty is a cat trainer who meets Miles when he need help taking care of his mom’s cat.
Not a lot of conflict in this book, it’s a quick easy read and no 3rd act break up.
I love animals and have many different kinds. My family will tell you I own a zoo. However, I don’t own a cat. I found the books love of cats a little intense and cringe. I think a real cat lover might really enjoy this book.
Thank you netgalley and the publisher for this arc in exchange for my honest review

Rom-com queen Helena Hunting never disappoints. At first the Kitty Whisperer part had me questioning myself and my literary choices, But in the end, that’s just a little voice in my head, caring way too much about the book snobs in the world snubbing romcom books. For me, this made me a good romance that involves kitty whispering main characters. It’s fun! Every book should be rated and reviewed by its genre—
This is an adorable, laugh out loud romance. I love all of Helena Hunter’s books. This is going to be a hit and I can’t wait to share it with everyone.

I honestly went into this book completely blind because I saw it was Helena Hunting and had heard such rave reviews about her previous books (that are patiently waiting to be read on my Kindle). This was the perfect choice for my first Helena Hunting book!
Kitty Hart, the famous Kitty Whisperer, gets a call from a guy who needs help with his mother’s cat. The situation soon becomes laugh out loud embarrassing when Kitty goes to meet the client, Miles Thorn, at his mom’s house (Kitty a little goofy and a bit of a klutz). To make matters worse, the NHL analyst client is a dog lover who dislikes cats. The two couldn’t be more opposite, but soon a friendship forms, leaving you with a feel good, but funny, book about a girl trying to navigate life, family, and an unknown future.
I’m a cat lover and hockey fan so this book was right up my alley. I found myself cracking up at the disaster that was Kitty - how did she get herself in such situations? Once Miles and Kitty started realizing they had more in common than they thought, I loved their connection to each other and how they bonded. It was such a sweet love story that had the perfect ending.

Thank you to NetGalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for an advanced copy of this book!

As a girl who is completely indifferent to cats, A Love Catastrophe was NOT for me. I was a bit stunned by the number of cat puns, cat phrases, cat themes....really just cats in general in this book. It was too much.
I personally could not connect to Kitty. Her love for cats was next level, and I couldn't see much past that. Miles was slightly better, but he still came across as awkward and a bit abrasive even.
If you're obsessed with cats and want an awkward romance thrown in, read this.
If not, I suggest Helena Hunting's All In series, specifically A Favor for a Favor and A Secret for a Secret. This author also has a series under H. Hunting, and Little Lies is a favorite of mine.

This is a Rom-com by Helena Hunting. I have really enjoyed this authors writing in the passes so was excited to get an early copy of this one and it did not disappoint!
Kitty Hart is a cat whisperer…..no really, she has made a career out of her ability to connect with cats. “The Kitty Whisperer” has a huge social media following and cat sits for people needing short term and long term help.
Miles Thorn needs help. His mom has been hospitalized and he can’t care for her cat while she is away. Miles reaches out to the Kitty Whisperer to see if she has availability to help.
Kitty and Miles do not get off on the right foot but eventually cannot deny the attraction and sparks between them. As they start to date and learn more about each other, it’s clear they came into each other’s lives at the perfect time.
This was such a great story! Not a ton of spice but great quirky characters and lots of mishaps to keep you engaged in the story! There are a few trigger warnings with this one though: Death of a child, early onset dementia and death of a parent. All really well represented but important to call out.
This is a four star read for me and Highly recommended for any romance readers out there!

I gave this book a 4.5/5 stars!
As soon as I saw Helena Hunting was coming out with a new rom-com, I had to put in the request to read it! Especially when I read the synopsis! Kitty Hart, an internet famous cat expertise (who owns a cat-sitting business) meets a client who doesn’t like cats! With bad first impressions and continuous CAT-astrophes that happen between the two of them, this was a hilarious romance with a side of real life hard topics that gave this story a lot of heart.
I am a huge fan of books that can incorporate the hard parts of life. Going into this book, you may want to keep in mind that it deals with loss, grief, guilt (past deaths of a parent and a sibling) and a parent with dementia.
My absolute favorite part of this book….Prince Francis! He reminded me so much of both of my cats and how they act sometimes. He definitely contributed to the humor in this book.
If you love rom-coms and you are a cat lover….I definitely recommend this one. But….I also recommend it to the non-cat lovers too!

A romcom about a hockey player and so-called kitty whisperer. This one was just ok for me. I think the writing style wasn't my favorite. It made me feel awkward. People who are fans of Hunting's writing should enjoy this though!
