I read this book in exchange for an honest review.
This was a good book. I wasn't completely invested in the characters and their relationship, but I appreciated the losses they had gone through, and the kind of people they were. The animals were very cute.

First off let me preface this with.. I am NOT a cat lover by any means. I am a dog girl for life. However, I was totally on board with this adorable story. While the story was a rom com at heart with plenty of Cat puns, it was also about growth, dealing with grief and moving forward with your life after a tragic event.

Miles & Kitty had the meet cute disaster of all meet cutes but I adored their journey and how good they were for each other. Their story had very minimal drama and just what you need if you are looking for a lighter read full of puuurfect humor.

This is so sweet!! Absolutely loved this low stakes romance and particularly how perfectly quirky the heroine was. This definitely gives rom com and in a way I enjoy. There’s a snafu during their initial meeting that is quite the misunderstanding. Tons of “physical comedy” on page with this one. fyi- NO THIRD ACT BREAKUP. I was happy that although this would fit under the bad first impression trope Miles quickly redeems himself.

As heartwarming as this was I do want to mention content warnings: Death of a family member (historical, sudden), early onset dementia of a parent (current).

Thank you so much to NetGalley and Forever for this ARC. There’s a bit of magic with the writing of this one in how it’s so sweet and simple but I was still very compelled to keep reading about this wonderful couple.

I have loved all of Helena Hunting's books and this one is no exception. It's full of puns, hilarity, heart, and some heat. I love that Kitty is a little uncoordinated and unfiltered. Her first in-person meeting with Miles had me cackling. Miles seems a little callous initially, but once we learn more about his past and current situation it's easy to have empathy. There are tragic backstories affecting both main characters, watching them work through their issues with and supporting each other is the sweetest. These two are perfect and low drama. Highly recommend, especially if you need a sweet, fluffy escape.

I need more Helena Hunting romcoms in my life because this book was sweet and hilarious - Helena definitely puts the 'com' in romcom!

Kitty and Miles are complete opposites yet develop such a sweet and swoon-worthy relationship that you will be rooting for them right from the start. There are laugh out loud moments, steamy moments, sugary sweet moments and of course angsty moments - but none of those come from a dreaded third act breakup 🎉

With so many animal hijinx, I was worried that they would begin to take away from Kitty and Miles' story but that never happened - those moments were some of my favorites from the book!

p.s. Hockey romance is having a ✨moment✨ right now and Miles works for an NHL team - so you can get a tiny bit of your hockey fix while reading this book 😉

I had a rough start with this book initially. Miles and Kitty felt too different and the commonality between them was nonexistent. Kitty seemed too cartoon-like while Miles felt robotic. I’m used to this author's angsty reads filled with tendon and drama, so it took a moment to adjust my mindset to a lighthearted romcom.

Once I did, this was a cute romcom filled with fun moments between Miles and Kitty. It’s an easy read with characters that have witty dialogue. It’s a good, entertaining book that will make you smile while reading.

Overall, I truly wanted to love this book because I’ve loved this author's previous books, but with the rough start it was hard to overcome that. Though I did grow to like Miles and Kitty, I had a hard time feeling their connection.

Thank you to NetGalley, Forever Pub and Grand Central Pub for this ARC

Quirky rom com that's especially delightful for cat lovers. Helena Hunting is a talented writer and a wonderful storyteller; she creates fun and memorable characters, and Kitty and Miles are no exception. Chuckles, romance, steam, and chemistry

A feel good, lighthearted, low angst rom com that has a quirky, happy cat whisperer and a grumpy man crossing paths.
I love Kitty’s love of cats and the fact that she has been able to make a successful business out of it. She is a just a joy of a character and you can’t help but love her. Miles isn’t a cat guy, yet he is stuck with the task of taking care of his mom’s cat and finding someone to take care of it when he can’t due to his job. The moment these two meet there are several hilarious meetings and interactions, but you can also feel an attraction between them.
If you’re looking for a grumpy/sunshine, lighthearted rom com check this one out.

I loved it like all books by this author. Wonderful characters and story. Also pretty funny. Can't wait to see what she comes up with next

4.5 stars. This is a great quirky story. Kitty runs a cat sitting business and Miles needs her help. There are many awkward scenes between the two of them that are so off the wall and are funny. But I loved that there was no drama between the two of them (once they got together) and this is a love story that could happens to anyone. I also loved that they helped heal each other from their pasts and supported each other. Another enjoyable story by Helena Hunting.

- The dogs name is Wilfred stop
- So many innuendos 10/10
- Meow for now is an amazing sign off
- Whatever the opposite of a meet cute is, that’s what that meeting was
- I feel itchy from the secondhand embarrassment
- Books that are set in Canada always bring me joy
- Not loving the HP references
- They’re starting to squick me out more & more, especially in new books
- Wow Miles & Kitty are exceptionally bad at meeting new people
- Okay here’s my quibble with the water gun scene
- This book is set in Canada, where guns are a lot harder to access
- It doesn’t make sense to me that Miles would see something gun shaped that is baby blue & assume it’s a real gun because those generally aren’t a regular threat
- Idk it just seems weird to me as a Canadian
- Stashing cat treats in your tits is a pretty smart thing to do as a cat sitter
- Big fan of how Kitty randomly drops cat noises into conversation
- Can someone please explain to me why authors insist on using the phrase “toe off my shoes”?????
- Why can’t you just say “I took my shoes off” like that’s what people say irl
- Miles is probably a lot better at texting than talking
- I loved reading the obits in the paper as a kid so I get it
- Cat communication buttons 😍😍
- Nakeys do indeed look like gargoyles
- Wow Miles & Kitty have the hots for each other no way

- Ahh, we love self aware romance novels
- Oooooo a nursing back to health scene yesssssss
- ESPECIALLY when one of them is on heavy drugs that make them loopy

- So Kitty has had two unintentional peen encounters
- Interesting
- At least Miles is quietly protective (cough cough Tessa Bailey)
- This is both adorable & painful simultaneously
- Oh Miles you are in deep trouble
- So are you Kitty
- This is amazing
- Josh. Buddy. Come on
- I really love when authors use the word peen
- It’s never a good sign when you’re turned on by their voice
- What a spooky sleepover for one (& an angry cat)
- Poor Miles
- This is a lot to go through at thirty all on your own
- So. Many. Innuendos
- I’m glad I don’t need to get angry at my nipples tbh
- Oh god having your dad pass & then losing your cat within a few months has got to be horrible
- Men suck so much
- Imagine proudly stating you’re taking “alien studies” & then disparaging someone who’s a cat sitter
- god the audacity
- Again, I feel like in 2023 we should know better than to use the word junkie
- Oooooo unexpected kissing to get out of a situation is always fun
- Miles is so awkward & it reminds me of Sean 🥹🥹
- Dementia terrifies me
- Poor Tabitha
- Props to Kitty for being gentle with Miles & good for Miles for being gentle with himself
- I knew Kitty would end up adopting Prince Francis
- Ahh, we’ve made it to the sex part (I hope)
- Some of the dialogue in this book is weird
- I refuse to believe that there are people who anthropomorphise their boobs
- It’s nice to know there are other voyeur cats out there
- I’m 99% sure you queue up a playlist, not cue
- Okay I realize it’s on brand for Kitty to say “bingo button” but absolutely the fuck not
- The fact that this book is set in Canada but Miles keeps saying “I went to college” irks me
- Hattie is a good sister
- Parker needs to just not
- Halloween party in a cat woman suit
- This better be good
- Miles does indeed have no chill when it comes to Kitty
- I also look for the animals at a party so #relatable
- Damn Kitty’s life it truly something else
- I know Helena Hunting can write some hardcore stuff so I don’t love that this one is semi-closed door
- How could anyone have seen that whole situation & decided Kitty was an animal abuser?????
- Humans are garbage
- Miles is so sweet
- Alright that speech from her mum was a lil’ cheesy
- Somehow that ending really didn’t flow well?

This was such a fun read! I love how the author brought so many elements to the book. This isn't easy to do but she tackles: sports, cats/pets, social media, dementia, caring for parents, grief....all on top of a great romance story with lots of potential for laughs.

I also felt like it started off really well and hooked me from the first few paragraphs when Miles is caught by his buddy and colleague Josh looking at a Kitty Whisperer website. My mind clearly went with Josh's to the gutter and poor Miles was left explaining that it was a cat sitting and training business!

Kitty and Miles have adorable, cute, hilarious and emotional encounters throughout the book and I think this will be a fun read for cat and pet lovers as well as those who enjoy Hunting's books already.

A Love Catastrophe is the book to choose when trapped under a cat loaf in your favorite reading chair. Its cozy, full of warm fuzzy feelings, and sure to make you smile.

Helena Hunting is a master at bringing physical comedy to life in rom coms. Miles and Kitty's meet-cute is more like a face-plant-into-crotch-scrapped-knee-cute. Everything that could go wrong does go wrong. Helena gives us precision though when it comes to getting the action onto the page. It was so vivid, as though I'm watching an episode of I Love Lucy.

I greatly appreciated the theme of kindness and empathy throughout. As noted, their meet cute is a disaster and their first impressions of eachother are definitely in the negative. Kitty though is the first to showcase a call for kindness. She offers grace and patience to the cats she cares for, and passes this on to the humans she meets also. Miles then begins to see how his trauma responses affects those around him. Its heartwarming to see emotional growth in characters.

The drama however of the book took a huge hit about midway though. The back half of the story felt like a disjointed second arc. While I was still eager to address plot threads started in the early pages, new ones were created instead with very little pages to go.

I greatly appreciated that the copy I read included Content Warnings with the synopsis of the book. This is much appreciated and should be a standard in publishing. Content warnings from the publisher include: dementia (side character), grief (character's parent and character's young sibling in flashbacks), hoarding from side character. I would explicitly add: death (side character, past event, not on page), and harassment (social media).

I am disappointed also that there were several Harry Potter references in the early pages of the book. While it is a seemingly universal cultural reference point, I hate to see my current reads allow it, and by association its author, to take up space and remain relevant.

The first act of A Love Catastrophe was definitely the strongest of the book as a whole. Its physical comedy is the star that keeps the pages alive. Overall an enjoyable read, but the back half didn't have the same energy as it started with.

Thank you Netgalley & Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for this advance copy in exchange for my honest review.

A Love Catastrophe was a quick and fun read. Kitty and Miles are total opposites…her love is all things cats and he is allergic to them! Even though this book was cheesy at times, it did have me laughing most of the way through it. Both Kitty and Miles are going through some hard things with their families, but end up being there for each other. I absolutely loved Kitty and her quirkiness. She always said what was on her mind, even when she didn’t mean too. It took a bit to fall for Miles, but in the end I loved him too. Over all, this was an enjoyable read and I highly recommend…especially if you love cats!

I was excited when I learnt I was getting an opportunity to read A Love Catastrophe from Helena Hunting and all I need to say is Miles Thorn and Kitty Hart’s story was everything I expected and so much more.
Miles mother is in hospital and she will be needing long term care so Miles is spending all his free time getting her adjusted to life in a hospital. But that means he needs someone to watch his mothers cat, Prince Francis while he is at work or at the hospital and thats where Kitty comes in……
He stumbles across Kitty the Cat Whisperer online where she promotes her cat training and cat sitting business. What follows is an entertaining yet emotional journey as these two realise they have a lot more in common than they could ever have imagined.
This is a cute, heartwarming story with wonderful characters but it does cover some subjects people may struggle with like death of a parent and dementia but this author was compassionate with her words and this is a well written book that will make you smile even when times are dark. This is a witty, cute rom com with plenty of funny cat puns and I highly recommend it.
I was given this arc from the publisher through Netgalley.

Author Helena Hunting has an incredible ability to balance comedy with serious themes like loss and grief. 'A Love Catastrophe' is a good example of this combination.

This story features Kitty Hart, a ray-of-sunshine, cat-loving heroine, also known as "The Kitty Whisperer." Her counterpart in this opposites-attract romance is stressed-out hockey analyst Miles Thorn, who is decidedly a dog person. The two have a rough meetcute when Miles hires Kitty to care for his mom's cat, but as a friendship develops between Miles and Kitty, they realize they have quite a bit in common - including the loss of a close loved one.

The elements of grief and healing play a big role in this book, but it remains a romantic comedy at heart. There's plenty of Hunting's trademark humor throughout the story.

I'm unquestionably a cat person, but I think this is a story that even dog lovers will enjoy.

An absolute gem read. I am so happy I was lucky enough to receive the ARC through NetGalley!

In this book we meet Miles Thorn and Kitty Hart. Miles mother is currently in the hospital and needing long term care, and Miles is helping take care of her. His mother owns a cat, Prince Francis, and Miles needs someone to watch over him while he's gone for work and helping his mother adjust to life in a hospital, when he comes across Kitty the Cat Whisperer online. Kitty is a professional cat trainer and care taker. She is running her own business and promotes it on social media where she has quite the following. Miles contacts her to watch over Prince Francis and things start off on the wrong foot as he's .... a dog person. LOL. Through caring for the cat, they come to realize they have more in common than they thought and get along really easy. We then follow them on a journey of helping each other through past family struggles, loss, love, and tragedies. Not only is this the cutest rom-com, it also has a lot of heart warming content about family.

I highly recommend this book to fans of Abby Jimenez and rom-com lovers.

Sensitive Topics (CW): Death of a parent and dementia (especially in a parent)

I finished this cute cat themed rom com recently. Thank you to @netgalley for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review!

Kitty runs a successful cat sitting business and is known as The Kitty Whisperer on social media. She goes to meet a new client, Miles, who is handsome but unfortunately, a dog person. He is looking for someone to take care his mom’s mischievous sphinx cat while she is in the hospital. Miles and Kitty start off on the wrong foot but grow to care about each other as they spend more time together.

This book will be released on June 13th! Keep an eye out for it!
