A Love Catastrophe finds certified dog person Miles in need of help from instafamous cat whisperer Kitty to petsit for his mom’s beloved Prince Francis while she’s in the hospital.
I really liked the banter dynamic between Miles and Kitty and their chemistry was fantastic. All of the pet characters were absolutely adorable and portrayed very realistically in all of their naughty glory.
Though I didn’t expect this from the blurb, I appreciated the exploration of grief and the pain of dealing with aging parents.
Overall, I enjoyed this book and think it was a sweet romance. Thank you so much to Forever and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.

Another Helena Hunting book that was amazing! I love hockey books and this one with a different perspective was really engaging. I feel like a lot of books now are going with the cat spin though. Overall, one of my favorite Helena Hunting books. Can't wait for the next one!

If you’re a cat person, this is a book for you - full stop. It’s a cute, fun read about a cat trainer/sitter who meets an NHL analyst through his mom’s cat. I’ll admit some of the scenes were cheesy and I thought the spicy scenes were just phrased a little weirdly, but the tension between the characters really made up for that in the long run! There’s also not a third act breakup, which I really appreciate, so definitely add to your TBR for that reason alone! This will come out on 6/13/23, and is a good read for any animal lovers out there!

HOW CUTE is this book! I absolutely loved it. The cats--- OMG. This was a fun and easy read, and I really enjoyed the escape it provided for me.

This was a super cute and fun read I really enjoyed it and couldn't put it down will definitely be buying for some friends and family

Helena Hunting is always an automatic read for me. I love her writing style and can't resist a super cute pet themed book. Perhaps I'm just not a cat person. This was an enjoyable read, but I didn't really engage with Miles and Kitty.
The book sensitively dealt with some very heavy topics - loss of a child/sibling, loss of a parent, early onset dementia. But again, I struggled to connect with the two main characters. The cat puns were thoroughly entertaining.
Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for the arc in exchange for an honest review. .

A Love Catastrophe by Helena Hunting was okay! It felt like a congested read, but was enjoyable for the most part!

This was a quick read, but maybe not my favorite? There was some lovely moments and the characters were fine. There wasn’t really any angst in the relationship and that was nice. Overall this was just a nice read. And that’s just fine by me.

It was fine. A bit too much information though. Everything was very dragged out yet predictable. I started to skim a lot of sections. I don't need every detail of what people do in their daily jobs. It's kinda boring.

I have consistently *really* liked Helena Hunting, so I feel guilty that I was not a fan of this one. I loved the premise - a professional cat sitter, Kitty, agrees to help Miles Thorn, hockey analyst and dog lover, by watching his mother's cat while she's in the hospital. Something just didn't work for me here, and I didn't feel much chemistry between the two main characters, the conflict was unexpectedly intense, and there felt like more showing than telling. I'm a mood reader, so I probably just wasn't in the right head space for this one.

Following her well received novel Make a Wish, this stand-alone from Hunting is the story of internet-famous cat-sitter Kitty and grumpy hockey nerd Miles. Kitty owns and runs her own cat-sitting business, the Kitty Whisperer, and is trying to expand the company. Miles is an analyst for the NHL, and while he tries to prove himself at work, he is also attempting to provide for his mother, who is in the hospital. When he needs a sitter for his mother’s cat, Prince Francis (yup that’s his name!), he calls Kitty. Kitty and Miles don’t exactly start off on the right foot, and Kitty doesn’t know how she will deal with Miles while she takes care of Prince Francis. As they get to know each other, however, no matter how much they try to annoy each other they start to develop a friendship and open up in their personal lives bringing them closer. While this is a believable love story, it also is an exploration of grief with just enough comedic relief, You also see the roller coaster of social media play heavily into the novel, showing the characters as real people.
A great story that animal and romance lovers will enjoy! Thank you NetGalley for this ARC. Reviews are my own opinions.

All cat lovers should pick this one for sure without any doubts. It was supposed to be a very fun and light read but after reading it, I can say it dealt quite a bit about grief and how families handle it differently. In this case, both Kitty and Miles have had difficult past and this new relationship between them help each other cope up and face life with a more refreshing start.
Both the cat and dog are definitely impactful charcaters as the whole plot revolves around these two. Kitty with a quirky personality was hilarious and fun but it made me wish Mile's charcater could have been developed more to bring out his personality. Although he was always sweet and caring, something felt missing. Overall, it was a cute and fun read that I definitely enjoyed!

“You’re a sunrise in human form… and I’m lucky I get to see you shine every single day.”
A Love Catastrophe by Helena Hunting gives readers a witty and warm novel that is an absolute delight to read. It’s minimal angst, hilarity, and sincerity creates a safe place for those of us who want to read something a little softer, but that doesn’t feel too outside of reality.
When self-proclaimed kitty whisperer, Kitty Hart, meets her newest client, Miles Thorn, it’s a comedy of errors. He’s the dog to her cat, and it seems like they’re destined to be mildly disgruntled acquaintances, at least until her cat sitting job is over with. But, the more they get to know each other, the more they realize that there might be a spark of something else simmering underneath the surface.
I always enjoy the way that Hunting incorporates humor into her narratives. In this story, I found myself laughing out loud multiple times, both at the wittiness of the writing and the hilarious physical comedy moments in the story. Hunting knows how to strike the balance between funny and over-the-top, and I’m here for it.
I also appreciated the softness of this book, and by that I mean that there’s no arbitrary conflict or third act breakup; rather, it’s an exploration of how the characters have handled some difficult parts of their pasts (and presents) and how they grow from it. Having personally experienced a parent-in-law who battled early-onset dementia, I was touched by the care that Hunting gives to Miles’s mother in this story. She always infuses so much hope into her books, even when navigating difficult topics. And the way that she gives Miles and his mom some poignant moments with each other brought tears to my eyes.
“I’m sorry I’m going to forget this. I wish my mind was still mine.”
Overall, I loved this book. It’s yet another great example of why Helena Hunting will always be a one-click author for me.
Thank you to the author, Forever, and NetGalley for generously providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

A Love Catastrophe did not resonate with me. It felt excessively cheesy and heavily focused on feline dialogue. Even if I had read the synopsis, I still would have given it a chance, hoping that the cat content would diminish after the first chapter, but unfortunately, it persisted. The characters were eccentric and peculiar, but to an excessive degree.
I found it incredibly cringeworthy and uncomfortable. The romantic scenes felt forced and awkward, with an overwhelming number of cat-related puns. Although I understand that the protagonist runs a cat-training and watching business, the extent to which the cat puns were used was excessive. At one point, the protagonist even says "oh my catness," which I found to be over-the-top.
There are a couple of things I felt dated the book such as Harry Potter refrences- can we please stop with these already. Also the authors implied dislike of Gen Z was unnecessary and felt hateful.
I have come to the conclusion that I do like most of this authors older offerings and their Indie published books but their Trad Pub Books are just for me. There seems to be a disconnect between the two. I am not sure if the author is using different editors or if their voices is being muted by the publisher but this book falls short by miles!

3.5 🌟
A Love Catastrophe follows Kitty, a self proclaimed kitty whisperer after she agrees to take on a new client, Prince Francis. Prince Francis's owner has early onset dementia and her {handsome} son, Miles, is looking for someone to take care of Prince Francis.
Despite my indifference towards cats (I know, I know), I thought this was a cute romcom and there were literally times where I laughed out loud. It did fall a little short for me with the overdoing of cat jokes/references but I thought Kitty and Miles were both enjoyable characters.
Thanks, Netgalley for the ARC of this book.

What a super cute story! Both the hero and heroine are a bit quirky, which caused some very funny scenes throughout the book. It made them adorable together and both of them were very likable characters.
Miles is a bit of a nerd who has a cool job with an NHL team. He had few foot-to-mouth moments, but it made me like him more. When you hear about his family tragedy, you can't help but feel for everything he has gone through and how hard it would be with his mom's early dementia.
Kitty is that beautiful nerd who doesn't know she's beautiful. She's kind hearted and has her own family tragedy she is still dealing with. Her job as the kitty whisperer brought a lot of humor to the story, as well as her own non-filter moments. Miles and Kitty were a match made in heaven.
I really enjoyed reading this book and I hope the author has plans to write a book for Kitty's sister and best friend. I've always been a fan of quirky and this time you get that with both main characters. Fun read!

This book was not bad at all, I just don’t think I was the target audience. This would be a great book to get the cat lover in your life, but I wish I had realized how much would be about cats and social media before I started reading. I also wish the male lead had been a little more built out as I felt like all of his plot was about other people in his life and an allergic reaction. I do love this author and look forward to more from her!

I had high hopes for this book because I love this author. She is hilarious. Let me preface by saying I am a huge cat lover but there were way too many cat references in here that I had a really hard time reading it. It was too much for me. I wanted to love this book but it was definitely lack luster for me.

This cute rom com pairs a cat lover with a dog lover to hilarious results.
Kitty is The Kitty Whisperer, a one woman business for cat training and care. She agrees to care for Miles Thorn's mother's cat while she is in the hospital, and hijinks ensue when the pair meet for the first time.
Both Kitty and Miles have a deeper background story (death of a family member, dementia), which make the story have deeper tones in places. The depth is nicely balanced with hilarious scenes involving baby raccoons, cats in trees, and full on tackling.
The book also deals with social media and public perception, as Kitty's instagram page blows up and nasty comments start to trickle in.
Kitty is a very quirky main character with her cat car, Kitty shirts, and best friend Kat. Parts of that were a bit much for me, but it didn't become overly distracting.
Thank you to NetGalley and Forever for the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion. I give this one 3.5 rounded up to 4 stars!

What a great meet cute, furry love story! Miles in his awkward geeky way will worm his way into your heart, while Kitty, well she'll own it right from the start! 5 Prince Francis stars for this one, because let's face it, he steals the show!
Miles has a problem, his mom is in the hospital, he just started a new job and is headed out of town, and he needs someone to take care of his moms cat Prince Francis. When he finds Kitty's business, he seeks out her help. Prince Francis doesn't like him, he's making a mess of his moms house, but once Kitty comes in and meets him, he takes to her like she's her human!
Miles and Kitty's first interaction, will crack you up to say the least! But once they start spending time together, each baring their souls to the other, sparks will fly, he just needs to find a way around Prince Francis' attachment to Kitty first!
I laughed a lot through this one, this cat is your typical troublemaking cat, and Kitty, she just has a kind soul and once her and Miles connect, you get a front row seat to the magic that comes between them! Grab this one asap!
