I have read a few books by this author that were very good so I was excited to start this one. I am NOT a fan of cats and at first I thought that all the cat-talk and puns would turn me off the story, but I must say it was a very good read. I loved the meet-cute between the characters and how the relationship developed. The characters were experiencing some very real life issues and the author dealt with them so well in the story. I love a solid happy ending with a bow tied around everything and I was not disappointed with this book. Another great story from this author.

Loved this book! It was cute, funny and just plain good hearted. I received an advanced reader copy of this book to leave an honest review and can say I would definitely recommend. I have read many of Helena Hunting's works and love her writing style and humor. Plus there is a hairless cat and a Great Dane which just adds to the humor of the story. But there is still some deep emotions that the main characters have to come to terms with that gives the book some great substance.

So this book follows Kitty, a cat sitter/business owner, and Miles, a statistician for the NHL who needs a cat sitter for his mom's cat. When he meets with Kitty for an initial interview, it definitely doesn't go well. Kitty basically faceplants right into Miles and he ends up tackling her in another misunderstanding. So definitely no love at first sight for these two. As more meetings happen between the two, they start finding out they have more in common than they thought. Kitty still lives at home with her mom and sister and basically hasn't made any major changes since her father died unexpectedly. Miles is now dealing with losing his mother to dementia when their relationship is already rocky from his parents divorce and other family trauma. So Miles and Kitty are really learning and relating to each other but there are so many hilarious moments between them that you just can't help but laugh out loud. Add in a giant Great Dane that thinks it's a lap dog and a hairless cat that rules pretty much everything and you have a great story.

Overall definitely recommend if you like just a fun romantic read. Obviously there is still some very heated scenes between the two but it flows well.

Helena Hunting is one of my favorite authors so I always love getting to read what's new from her.

Let me start by saying this book is all about cats. Like, there is a lot of cat talk. Kitty (yes, that is her name) is a cat sitter and trainer with a social media presence wherein she shares cat tips and tricks. She meets Miles when he needs help caring for his ailing mother's cat, Pope Francis. While Kitty and Miles' initial meeting does not go as planned, as they spend more time together taking care of Pope Francis they start to realize there is an attraction between then that cannot be denied.

This story is a great exploration of the caretaking role adult children often take on as their parents age and become unable to care for themselves. I loved Miles as a character and thought his growth through this story was really great. Kitty was at times a little much for me. The cat stuff tended to take over the story but overall the relationship between Miles and Kitty was sweet and kept me turning the pages.

There is no third act break up in this one which I really loved.

As a whole this is a fun read and a good one to curl up with your cat and enjoy.

I absolutely hate DNF'ing or post a negative review on ARC's but here we are, I gave this book a fair try as I read up to 60% as I really really wanted to love it but it simply isn't for me. While the book is simple and easy to read, it failed to grasp my interest, the plot has an emotional side track along with the romance but the swapping between both aspects wasn't smooth for me personally because every time I moved from a romantic scenes to heavier aspects of the plot I got a whiplash as if I were reading two different books

The romance between the main leads felt quite forced and cringey at times, the character development wasn't satisfying either. The FMC is supposed to be a quirky cat lover which would have been totally fine but the excessive use of cat puns was a bit silly to me and were distracting when there was a conversation going on between two characters. I really enjoyed the author's other book Meet Cute but unfortunately this one is a miss for me. Thanks to Netgalley for my digital galley!

Cute but also cringey. Prince Francis was my favorite character. The romance seemed a little forced, but the cats made me laugh a lot. Not my favorite romance but I'll continue to pick up Helena Hunting's books.

⭐⭐⭐ - A soft romance with no major upsets and a side of serotonin-inducing sweet moments with furry friends.

I wanted to love A Love Catastrophe so much more than I did. It's an easy read, the characters are simple people just trying to live their lives... but somehow, I just never connect when characters are social media influencers?

Kitty's cat-loving social media sphere is probably one of the better ones that I've read about - who doesn't love serotonin-inducing clips of fuzzy cats and their toe beans? The premise of the story is just kind of a regular everyday story though.. just a normal world occurrence.. two people meet... an outside misunderstanding occurs that really doesn't affect the couple's relationship at all and they grow and move into a happy-ever-after ending.

When I'm reading romances.. I typically want more on the line and more that couples really half to work through to make the stories memorable!

A Love Catastrophe is a cute rom com featuring Kitty and Miles as they enter each other's lives at the perfect time. Kitty is a quirky professional catsitter whom Miles, a nerdy NHL data analyist enlists to help take care of his mothers cat, Prince Francis. Miles and Kitty build a relationship outside of the professional cat sitter and client world, and find although Miles is a dog lover, they truly mean alot to each other.

As a cat lover, I really enjoyed this feline infused read and all the way through was left with a smile on my face. I would recommend this book to anyone else who also loves cats and a cute grumpy sunshine love story.

4.5 stars rounded up. This book was laugh-out-loud hilarious and heartfelt at the same time. As a former dog-sitter, I can confirm that Kitty’s misadventures are very realistic, haha.

Semi-spoiler alert: I really liked that the drama at the end was focused more on Kitty’s career and not on any relationship drama between her and Miles. That was refreshing. However, it did feel like the last couple chapters went on a bit too much and the ending lost steam. The epilogue was perfection, though!

Catastrophe is an appropriate title.

As a cat and hockey lover, the description had me intrigued. I was, unfortunately, very disappointed. The cat puns are overdone, the leads have no chemistry (trauma bonding does not a love connection make), and the story itself is so bland. Also, the attempts at “spicy” scenes were cringe inducing.

This was a cute story! I’m usually a thriller reader, but every now and then I like to quirky romance to break it up. This was also funny and made me laugh. This was a fun read!

Review:

Newly hired NHL team analyst, Miles Thorn, finds himself in a pickle when his mother is hospitalized leaving behind her beloved feline companion, Prince Francis. Being a dog lover, he hasn’t the foggiest of ideas of where to start. Insert Kitty Hart of “The Kitty Whisperer” cat care services. Kitty is the equivalent to sunshine in human form and is ready to jump in and help whenever needed. While Miles maintains a grouch-o personality towards felines and Kitty continually experiences Freudian Slips, chemistry blooms between them. Because nothing is purrffect, both Miles and Kitty have familial experiences which haunt them daily making it difficult to determine whether they can allow the past to dictate their future.

*********

This read brought me so much joy! I legitimately LOL’d so many times (which is difficult when you are reading while your baby naps/sleeps!!!)

The instant chemistry between Miles and Kitty is so magnetic as a reader. I found myself rooting for them throughout the book!

I also loved the combination of comedy, romance, tragedy and resolution. Sometimes tragedy can wear a reader down and I feel like in this read, it was addressed perfectly. You knew the tragedy was there and felt the burden the characters carried yet the balance of comedy kept the reading very light and balanced. I felt as though the author respected the pain the characters were experiencing and what caused said pain. Honestly, she tied the tragedies both these characters experienced together so well! I also loved the supporting characters! Everyone was so positive and supportive that you didn’t find yourself grinding your teeth wondering if this was going to be a “bully situation.” In addition, if you are anything like me, a hardcore animal lover, books with animals make me anxious that one of them will be lost, hurt, etc. you find yourself hesitant to read, this was not one of those!

While this was more on the cheesier spectrum of rom com reads, I highly recommend it to others (especially animal lovers!!!)

This is adorable delightful. Kinda cheesy with the whole cat whisperer thing going on but the depth of the characters and what led them down their current paths is precious and adorable.

I highly recommend this one for fans of the grump/sunshine trope!

Kitty Hart is a lover of all things feline and has made a name for herself as the cat whisperer. With her cat-sitting business booming, Kitty takes on a new client who she quite literally falls into upon their first meeting. Way to make a great first impression. It turns out this handsome client couldn’t be more different from Kitty, but that doesn’t mean the chemistry isn’t palpable from the beginning.

Miles Thorn, a data analyst for an NHL team, just needs someone to take care of his mother’s gremlin (ahem, cat) while she’s in the hospital and he’s away with the hockey team. Never did he think he’d start to fall for the cat-obsessed Kitty.

I loved how genuine the relationship between Kitty and Miles felt. Both characters were well-developed and their experiences with grief and loss were handled delicately. This is a sweet, swoon-worthy romance that I will for sure come back to!

super back and forth on this book.

multiple times I was leaning to dnf but I am glad I persevered. Cats aren't really my thing so I was struggling to really enjoy the book at the beginning as it was heavily pushing the opposites and emphasizing the cat/dog lovers. it is very much enemies/opposites attract (cat/dog). I loved the romance. Miles and Kitty we're both so sweet and enjoyable. I also loved the layers of the story-- loss, change, work/stress/careers, and illness. I did feel like the romance was a bit quick moving/abrupt but at the same time I'm not sure how it could've been stretched out longer.

Personally falls somewhere between 3-4 stars for me but closer to 3. <br />

A Love Cat-astrophe is a super sweet, sometimes awkward story about finding your person. Even the worst first impression can lead to your happily ever after. And the person you least expect will help you move on from the past that’s been holding you back.

Kitty & Miles are the first couple we get to meet but I’m hoping we will get a couple of other stories out of this friend group 🥰

Caution😉 there are some laugh out loud moments at Prince Francis’ expense 😅

💕fave quotes📖
“He looks like a shaved ba11 sack with eyes,” Miles mutters. My head whips around. “What a terrible thing to say! He’s beautiful.” He gives me a disbelieving look. “He looks like one of those house elf things from Harry Potter in cat form.”🤪😂

Talking to Miles was easier before my hormones took over and made me stupid.—-☺️

This novel is sweet, funny, touching and easy to read.
Helena Hunting begins her story with a chaotic encounter between a grumpy and a sunshine. Both are clumsy and honest. Slowly they come closer as friends by confiding and helping each other. The attraction is quickly present and they fall in love naturally.
So we have a mix of great tropes.
Kitty, our heroine, takes care of people's cats, she created her company and she is present on social networks. She is an extraordinary woman who prefers the company of cats to that of their humans. Miles, data analyst for the NHL, hires her to take care of his mom's cat. Miles hates cats, especially his mom's gremlin. So from the start, our protagonists are not made for each other. Which creates funny and sparkling situations and conversations. Not to mention that both are clumsy in gestures and words. I love how Helena Hunting creates characters that are colorful and moving, flawed and lovable. She also has fun inventing puns on the theme of cats to make us laugh.
Kitty and Miles get to know each other better and share their sorrows and burdens. They help each other recognize their wounds and move on with their lives.
This book deals with different themes such as mourning, old age with its memory problems, family, the disadvantages of social networks...
The author presents a sincere and authentic love story between two wounded but strong characters, two characters adorable that we would like to know. The twists are not what we are used to, which is refreshing. Kitty and Miles love each other and get along wonderfully well, they form a very beautiful couple.
In short, I loved this novel and I recommend it wholeheartedly!

This is a light read that will make you smile. I’m a huge cat lover and while there were a ton of puns the fact that they aren’t many cats in romance it was easy to overlook.
A sweet romance when you need a little cheese.

This book was hilarious and charming. Lighthearted, funny moments that have you giggle-snorting. It's an easy read, great for a reading slump. This book has the cutest chapter titles. All around a feel good feeling.

Read if you like:
cat puns
hockey references
A pet lover
friends to lovers
opposites attract
quirky female main character that is so lovable

There are some heavy topics weaved in such as family loss, grief, cyber bullying but all handled in a lighthearted way.

Spice level: 2-3 ish

DNF at chapter 7 (23%)

I tried with this one, I really did, I just cannot go on with it. The cat puns are way too much.

I like cats, just not in the way the fmc does where it is her entire personality. The author even has her saying phrases like 'excuse meow' and 'oh my catness'. It’s not cute and it’s taking me right out of the story. Also her name is Kitty, she’s a cat sitter and she has a bff named Kat who owns a cat cafe. Seriously? That’s too much for me.

I thought that a few chapters in the plethora of cat stuff would die down, but no, still going strong by chapter 7. So DNF for me, which is too bad because I actually did like the idea of the story, the author just took it too far.
