This was the perfect weekend read with characters that I loved! Kitty is a cat person who gets on better with animals than she does with people - and in the story she finds her way to someone who becomes her person. Both her and Miles have experience with grief - which bonds them after a not so positive first encounter. In this story grief is explored in an empathetic. Mention is also made of Alzheimer's. I highly recommend this wonderful story.

I expected both more and less from this book and honestly had a hard time rating it. As an animal lover myself, I was immediately intrigued by the synopsis. The story centers around our heroine, Kitty, who owns a cat training/sitting business who falls in love with a NHL data analyzer who hires her to help with his mom's cat. Their initial interactions were full of hilarious awkwardness and then morphed into a very supportive relationship. But honestly, the chemistry between them just wasn't there for me. Not sure why. I did love the fact that there was no huge misunderstanding that drove them apart for a while like most romances. But there was just something lacking for me. The book also deals with some really heavy issues like loss/grief, aging parents and the pitfalls of social media, so the book wasn't as light- hearted and fun as I was expecting, but I think they were handled well. Just know that this is not what I would categorize as a rom-com. All in all, it was a solid read, just not one of my favorites. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the advance copy.

Thanks to Forever (Grand Central Publishing) and NetGalley for the advanced readers copy!
Kitty is a professional cat sitter and tends to keep to herself. She takes a new job for Miles (a dog person), who asks Kitty to take care of his mom's hairless cat, Prince Francis. Prince Francis can be a total jerk and Kitty makes it her mission to change Miles's opinion about cats. After a lot of time spent together and instant chemistry, they find themselves drawn together.
Kitty and Miles are a sweet couple. They are both very supportive of each other and understanding about their family traumas. Their connection did feel a bit rushed to me but was still ab enjoyable read!

Special Thanks to Forever Publishing and Netgalley for providing me with this Arc, In This Contemporary Enemies to Lovers, (Slow Burn) Romance. Readers meet Kitty Hart, Online influencer/ cat extraordinaire and face behind The Cat Whisperer Pet Care service. Kitty provides companionship training, and support for both kitties and their respective owners. Enter Miles Thorn, a workaholic who is not fond of cats, however, is desperate for Kittys help to tame his furry arch nemesis prince Francis. Moving forward, a series of shenanigans take place.
This is my first Helena Hunting book, and it certainly will not be my last. However, Sensitive themes such as grief, Divorce, and Dementia are addressed in heavy detail throughout making reading difficult at times. I recommend considering these content warnings prior to reading. Overall. This was a great book filled with heart, The love of family and sharp humor. A must read for cat lovers, and those in need of a feel-good story.

Such a fun, cute, hilarious read.
What happens when a dog lover has to meet and set up a cat sitter for his mother's car? Everything goes wrong but the laws of attraction definitely rights the scene. Miles and Kitty trial through this relationship that is forced upon them. They both have suffered loss in the past and it helps them build each other up and their relationship.

This book was very good. It felt pretty insta-lovey which was the only detractor. Overall it was a very fun read.

I enjoyed this more than I expected. Kitty and Miles were fun characters and I enjoyed watching their interactions and growth. A little sex scene heavy which I'm not huge on, but overall I really enjoyed this one.

When Miles needs a cat sitter to watch his mother’s cat he ends up finding Kitty the Cat Whisperer. Kitty has created her own business cat sitting and training felines along with helping with adoptions at her local cat cafe. When she first meets Miles she gets knocked to the floor, literally! As Kitty and Miles grow closer they realize they have a lot more in common than they first thought. Will a catastrophe end up sinking Kitty’s business and her relationship with Miles?
This book has the perfect balance of a fun rom com with serious familial deaths and health diagnoses. I especially connected to Miles and his journey trying to navigate his mother’s Alzheimer’s as I have had family members suffer from the disease as well. This story will be added to my favorites list to come back to again and again!

The potential was there and I was even enjoying it at the beginning then the plot disappeared and the dialogue became boring. Her writing is honestly so wordy and lengthy and she doesn’t skim she just writes about the days one after another like a very slow boring movie. This is a no for me.
Thanks netgalley for the ebook in exchange of a review.

A Love Catastrophe is SO cute! The Helena Hunting book follows Kitty, the insta famous cat sitter. She is sunshine as a human and is effervescent. She loves cats and loves her family. We get to see her meet Miles, an NHL analyst who needs someone to watch his mother's cat. Miles starts off very grumpy, but as we learn more about him we understand the grump and see he is a big softie.
Beyond their delightfully terrible meeting, their growing friendship to romance, and all of the sweet cats (and some dogs too!), there are some very interesting themes. Both MCs bond over familial grief and see a lot of similarities in their lives. They both have to work through past traumas and get ready for the next step in their life, no matter how scary.
This was a quick, FUN read that also had some really lovely depth. I would highly recommend.

That was wonderful! Yes, there were some puns, but, it was a simple, sweet, sexy, love story. These two perfectly imperfect people meet and don’t really hit it off. But the sparks are there, and over time, they connect, attach, and fall in love. No high drama, no craziness, just a natural progression in their relationship. Along the way, they learn certain truths about themselves, make some changes in their thoughts and actions, and become more comfortable with who they are. And they have a wonderful cat and dog that play important roles in their lives. Loved everything about this book and never wanted it to end!

I love Helena Huntings books, and while this one started off a bit slow, and a little on the sad side, I did enjoy the book overall. Miles started so grumpy, and I was not feeling him as the hero of the story, but by the end I just adored him.
It was definitely on the sadder/heavier side, but there were still those laugh out loud moments I have with Helena Huntings books.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC

What a paw-some book?! This book is a love letter to cat lovers. It is filled with humor and heart. I loved it.
I voluntarily read an early copy.

Kitty is known as the cat whisperer, and has gained a strong reputation for working with cats- training, pet sitting, and caring for them. Miles reaches out to her for help with his mom’s cat, and they have a very awkward first meeting. Once they get past the initial awkwardness, they are able to work together to help Miles’s mom with her cat. Despite their differences, they realize they have more in common than they thought, and might even make a purr-fact match.
I was a bit torn with how to rate this book because there were elements that really worked well for me, but also a few that didn’t. Although I love animals, it was a huge part of the story and Kitty didn’t have much to her personality besides cat lover. I also felt that there were so many side plots- allergy attack, loss of a parent, loss of a sibling/child, dementia, social media… there was a lot going on. While I appreciate the author addressing some serious topics, it just felt like there were too many. However, I liked Miles and Kitty together and it was overall a sweet story.
Thank you to Helena Hunting, Forever Publishing, and Netgalley for the arc in exchange for my honest review.

This novel felt mostly furry-friends-focused more than anything else.
Add in animation & subtract the couple intimate scenes, & this book might make a decent Disney cartoon.…
And while it was cute, I don’t think i’d read it or anything similar again…

I am a Helena Hunting fan and immediately wanted to dive into this book! A Love Catastrophe is a well crafted romance. That said, if you are not a cat person, this will NOT be the book for you.
When I requested it, I didn't realize how much the cat thing was going to impact the storyline. In my mind, cat sitter + NHL employee = romance with quirky lovable characters, but it is SO much with the cats that I almost DNF'd multiple times. Even in the steamy parts of the book, the cat is yowling at the door. The cat should not have more emotional impact than the main characters, who get lost in all the cat shenanigans. Enough already!
There is a beautiful side plot about grief, Alzheimer's, and family dynamics being affected by trauma, so those are what I tried to focus on and the only reason my review is as highly rated as it is.
Advanced copy gifted by the publisher via netgalley.

This story was a fun, sweet and super quick read. It had the usual Helena Hunting humor sprinkled throughout and I loved the dynamic of these two together. I like the author's style of writing and the pace of the story.

What a fun take on the animal lover trope! And I was so happily surprised by the ending. The author seemed to be setting up a damsel in distress type ending, but Kitty's interview put her firmly back in control. Great read, that I loved from beginning to end.

Helena Hunting has been a favorite, auto-read author of mine for a while now. Her writing has such an incredible range - from the hilarity of Pucked to the intense angst of Little Lies and all the funny rom-coms in between. She rarely disappoints. However, this one fell flat for me. Based on the blurb I was anticipating a funny opposites-attract rom com. What I got was a pretty heavy book dealing with grief and loss. I do think she handled it well, but there wasn't enough lightness to balance it out so it never felt like a true rom com. I didn't really sense the chemistry between the leads either, it just felt kind of forced. While this one unfortunately wasn't for me, I'll still keep coming back for more from Helena in the future.

I cannot say enough about what a masterful wordsmith and funny comedian Helena Hunting is! This book is the peak of all things cat and love-related. And the meet cute in this book is not one that I will soon forget.
I love that Miles and Kitty are both regular people. Romance readers don’t need every hero or heroine to be a billionaire, although I do love those stories, too. I think it’s sometimes harder to write the romance stories of every day people going about their lives and falling in love because romance readers, like me, love the fantasy of being taken away to a grander world. Miles and Kitty are everyday people with everyday lives BUT have an extraordinary love story. HH nailed it.
In every HH book, the characters are always struggling to overcome a mental or emotional block. This is key to why are books are so popular and relatable. Life is, after all, just a series of events we need to get over and move through. Miles and Kitty do this together, and it makes me love them even more.
