Kitty the cat whisperer has a burgeoning cat sitting business. She can charmingly tame even the most unruly cat. When Miles hires her to cat sit for his ailing mother’s cat - the feisty Prince Francis, at first she has him pegged as a cat hater, but soon discovers that they have a lot in common. The two come to bond over tragedies in their past and soon build a friendship and love that heals them.
Told in alternating perspectives this story is an easy to read delight that is whimsical and a bit serious. Hunting tells a sweet love story where the two love interests support one another and fall easily in love. I loved that there wasn't a lot of drama or barriers in the way of these two great characters coming together.

Kitty Hart is The Kitty Whisperer, a viral social media cat sitter and Miles Thorn needs help with his mother’s cat while she’s at the hospital. They have an awkward first encounter but Kitty and Miles connect over the death of their loved ones and explore their attraction in an organic way.
The opening chapter in this novel is laugh out loud funny and cute. I enjoyed all the cat puns as chapter titles as well. Personally as a cat person, this was silly and fun but I’m not sure it’s for everyone (the cat haters tbh) it could be a lot. The novel is surprisingly deep and a little sorrowful, mentioning the death of loved ones before, it’s woven throughout the story as both characters feel stuck in the past with their families. The story gets more lighthearted towards the second half and I loved the animal rescue idea for Kitty’s future.
If you like animals and silly but heartfelt stories, I recommend this is for you!
Thank you to NetGalley and Forever for the copy of this book, this is my honest review.

I like cars but this was too cutesy and cringe for me to really get into. I did appreciate the discussion about grief but feel like the silliness outshined it.

3.5 stars rounded up. I’ll start by saying that the cover on this book makes you think you’re in for some lighthearted fun, and while there are definitely moments of that, there is a lot more to it. There are also heavy themes of navigating familial grief and loss in different forms for both main characters. That said, there were comical, happy, and heartwarming moments thanks to Kitty, Miles, and a cast of animal characters and their human owners. Kitty and Miles are both so adorably awkward, my secondhand awkwardness was overwhelmed reading their early interactions. They’re both just stumbling their way through trying to figure out how to act around and talk to each other. When they find their way, they really work so well together and provide a solid support system and a true partnership. While this was heavier than the lighthearted rom-com I was expecting, I still very much enjoyed it.

Helena Hunting’s A Love Catastrophe is a sweet romance that is much more character than plot driven. When Kitty Hart and Miles Thorn first meet, it’s not exactly love at first sight. She runs Kitty Whisperer, a cat-sitting company, and he’s a dog-lover in need of a solution for his current problem: his ailing mother’s angry Sphinx cat named Prince Felix.
The book deals with grief for both Kitty and Miles, and it’s pretty light on plot otherwise. For anyone looking for a quick and easy read that’s mostly lighthearted, this is the perfect book for that. It wasn’t right for me, but it definitely has its merits! Thanks to NetGalley and Forever for the ARC.

Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for the copy of this e-arc in exchange for an honest review.
I was really excited to read Helena Huntings next romance book. She has been quickly becoming one of my go to authors when I need a great romance read.
A Love Catastrophe is told in dual pov with Kitty (our sunshine) a kitty whisper (cat sitter and other cat services) and Miles (our grump) a NHL data analyst who seeks out Kitty services when his mom get diagnosed with dementia and is need helped with his mom's cat Prince Francis.
I really enjoy this story and while dealing with heavier topics regarding lost of loves one's, I feel like it didn't way down the story. I also enjoyed there was no break up with the characters during the 3rd act of the books. Plus who doesn't love a book with animals in it.

4.5 stars
I felt like this book was made for me. I saw "The fur is about to fly between a cheerful cat sitter and a grumpy hockey nerd in this hilarious and charming rom-com" and I knew I immediately needed to read it. The book *is* hilarious and charming!
However, not mentioned in the synopsis is the fact that the book deals with the long lasting effects of grief (loss of parent & loss of child) as well as a parent with early-onset dementia. So very, very heavy topics. I was not prepared for this and I wasn't in a good place to read about it. Hopefully the publisher will update the synopsis to let people know that it's not just a fluffy book -- which is what I was expecting.
There are some steamy sex scenes, don't be misled by the cutesy cover.
It was lovely to read a book set in Canada!
I absolutely would recommend this book but just keep in mind there are some heavy topics throughout.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Forever (Grand Central Publishing) through NetGalley.
Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. Thank you, Forever (Grand Central Publishing)!

Firstly, thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC copy of this book in exchange for a voluntary review.
I've read a few of Hunting's books recently and when I saw this up for grabs on Netgalley you better believe I ran towards it. In usual Hunting fashion this was a cute rom com filled with some of the genres' favourite tropes.
I really enjoyed the premise of the story, but also how it dealt with difficult real life issues such as the loss of a parent, dementia and child loss and how how families navigate life after loss. I've also become quite the sucker for a sports romance, so the slight hockey nod in this was appreciated. What started as a grump/sunshine trope played out well and I enjoyed both the FMC and MMC. Also three cheers for no relationship drama in the third act.
I would say it was well paced up until the 60% mark and then dragged a little but it did not take away from the story. An enjoyable read, and another good story by Hunting!

Thank you NetGalley for an eARC in exchange for an honest review!
This is the PERFECT cutesy romcom for pet lovers! The characters were all fun and multidimensional and I really liked the author's emphasis on staying true to yourself, even if others don't appreciate it. That said, I did feel like the Kitty (fmc) was a little bit too quirky for my taste with her constant cat related style and graphics, but seeing as Kitty's affinity for taking care of cats is a main plot point, I can't really complain. Miles was adorable with of his shy and awkward personality and, especially with so many romcoms these days taking the route of "suave womanizer" mmc's, this book was pretty refreshing.
Okay now for what I didn't like. I felt like where the novel succeeded with character development and backstory, it lacked in plot. The story was entirely character centric and if what you're looking for is a connection with the characters, then great. For me though, I felt it was missing a story arc with a more impactful major incident and it overall felt a bit anticlimactic. The first two thirds-ish of the novel built up really nicely through character development, witty banter, and adorable mc interactions, the momentum stalled toward the end for what I felt was a bit of a lackluster ending. I get that sometimes you just want to curl up with a feel-good read to brighten up your day (this book is exactly that), but for me personally, in this particular moment, I was looking for something with a little more oomph to round out the story.
Bottom line: if you love animals and are looking for a cute romance to brighten your day with a little Hallmark style/feel-good plot line, this is the book for you! It just wasn't for me.

This is cute little love story between an NHL advisor and a literal cat lady who have both experienced major losses in their family histories and who come into each others lives at just the right time. If you love cats this is a perfect book for you, also if you love grumpy sunshine this is a great book for you. I gave this book 3 stars because I found Kitty kind of annoying and the way she talked just irked me a little and it was a little slower than I would have liked. Other than that a great story.

Helena Hunting is a well known author and I was so excited to have access to this title! It was such a great read. The synopsis says it was a romance between a cheerful cat sitter and a grumpy hockey nerd. It was the perfect execution of grumpy sunshine and I adored it!

I read Meet Cute earlier this year and was excited for this upcoming release. Unfortunately, this was a big letdown for me.

When I saw Helena Hunting had a new book out, I wanted to read it immediately. However, I don’t think this is her best work. I still love Hunting and will still read her books though! Not every book is going to resonate with every reader. I didn’t feel a spark between Miles and Kitty at first. In fact, I didn’t feel that spark until their first kiss. That spark, for me, soon fizzled out. I wanted to feel more angst between the two. I did like that this book didn’t go with the typical trope – strangers to lovers, who then have an issue between the two, have a falling out, and then come back together. Instead, each were going through their own thing and supported each other. That was nice to read. I did find, at times, that the “flirty” conversations between Miles and Kitty were a bit awkward and uncomfortable, but maybe it was supposed to be that way! Overall, a cute read, easy read. Perfect for any Helena Hunting fan!

I loved this book!!! Helena Hunting has become a must-read author for me, and I am so happy to be able to read and review this ARC!
I loved Kitty and Miles’s development from reluctant acquaintances to sweet and tender friends and lovers. Both these characters, and their friends and family, are the kindest, goofiest, most lovable people. I especially love Hattie and Josh and would not be disappointed if their story was a sequel to this one.
I myself am and avid animal lover and cat advocate (catvocate, if you will) so Kitty’s whole personality is like a reflection of my soul. I also appreciated no third-act breakup because both Kitty and Miles are mature communicative people who won’t let silly things stand in the way of their love. The way Miles and Kitty bonded their love and friendship in mutual respect for the traumas they’ve suffered is so sweet and tearful to read.
I love love love this book and am looking forward to buying it when it releases.
Thank you for the ARC :)))

They had me at cat sitter. a good read and enjoyed this story. really liked it alot and the love between this couple. i will read more of her books.

Thank you to Net Galley and Forever for the opportunity to read an advanced copy of A Love Catastrophe by Helena Hunting!
Anytime there is a cat involved in the storyline, my expectations are immediately set high - I get so excited. Add in the bonus of a hockey romance and Helena Hunting, and I am 10000% sold. Let me preface my review by saying I am a huge Helena Hunting fan. Sadly, this book was not a favorite for me.
Don’t get me wrong I loved Miles and Kitty as characters, and their story lines. I loved Kitty’s quirkiness and ability to be authentically herself. Miles and Kitty’s chemistry, banter, and enemies to lovers vibes hit all the marks. This was an easy and enjoyable read that I will definitely recommend, but it won’t go down as one of my favorites ever from Hunting.

2.5 ⭐️
Not gonna lie; this was rough. I really should have read the synopsis before requesting this ARC but honestly I love Helena Hunting so I didn't even bother. I've loved her other rom-coms published with this publisher (Kiss My Cupcake, Meet Cute, and The Good Luck Charm) so I had high hopes for this.
My biggest issue is it was just such a downer. When I pick up a rom-com I'm expecting a lighthearted feel good romance and I just really didn't get that from this. We are following Kitty who runs a cat sitting service and Miles who is looking for a cat sitter for his mom's cat. Miles' mom is in the hospital after being diagnosed with early on set dementia and he is having to deal with the diagnosis along with finding her a new place to live and revisiting his tragic childhood backstory. If this wasn't enough Kitty also has her own tragic backstory combined with a mom who has some issues herself. Not much room for anything happy or lighthearted to go on here...
Also I'm not a cat person - sue me. I really tried to overlook that part of the book because like I said it's completely my fault for not reading the synopsis but omg this girl's only interest was cats. There was so much time devoted to her talking to cats and I was getting bored. Not much really even happened in the whole first half of the book tbh. The end was pretty underwhelming as well and I finished the book wondering what the point was? There really was no clear plot line (which can be fine for me if the characters are super interesting and we're getting tons of interactions between them but we weren't). I also didn't feel any chemistry between them and the "spice" scenes left a lot to be desired (I think awkward can be cute but this was cringey-awkward not cute-awkward). This book also had a lot of focus on their lives individually and not so much on them growing/being together so their relationship seemed a bit rushed to me.
Idk I kept thinking maybe I was being too hard on this book but at the same time comparing this to "Little Lies" this feels like a completely different author. It just seemed like such a weird book. It's labelled a rom-com yet it's packed full of heavy topics and then you have Kitty (it took me so long to get past this name) and her best friend Kat...This took me RIGHT out of the story. I mean Kitty and Kat?? Really?
I wish I could say that I loved this but I can't.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

From page one this book is full of amazing cat puns, wacky awkward shenanigans and sweet romantic gestures. It is pure Helena Hunting greatness, it has everything I am looking for when I pick up one of her books, all wrapped up like a kitten that got into the yarn.
Kitty is awkward on par with Violet from Pucked. Absolutely no filter, which results in hysterical conversations and situations. I laughed out loud so many times!
Miles is straight laced but also has his own awkward streak. His stability balances out Kitty. I addition and involvement of the pets and other animals in this book are very fun. Each animal has their own personality that shines in the story, especially Prince Francis and Wilfred.
An A-meow-sing rom com that will have you laughing and swooning the whole time.
I received an arc of this book through Netgalley and voluntarily give my review.

We need more Helena Hunting romcoms to heal and nurture our souls! This sweet, swoon-worthy novel is a recipe of happiness, with a combination of the greatest tropes, including a disastrous meet-cute, opposites attract, sunshine meets the grump, and friends to lovers!
The sunshine is the good-hearted, cat-loving heroine, who is a devoted animal whisperer. Kitty Hart is a quirky, sweet, and unique web phenomenon with a cat-sitting business. Her path crosses with the grumpy, brooding, and stressed hero, Miles Thorn, a data analyst for the NHL who needs someone to take care of his mother's menacing cat while she is in the hospital. He hires Kitty after doing his web search, getting impressed by her skills, even though he doesn't believe she can connect with his mother's evil incarnation cat, which needs urgent exorcism.
Both of them couldn't be more different - one is an optimist, a smiling cat lover, and the other is a sulking, pessimistic dog lover. But their chemistry is evidently palpable. They start to share their sacred pasts and the burdens that hold them back from moving on with their lives. They deal with really triggering, sensitive subjects, including the loss of family members, grief, and cyberbullying.
I love their genuine, sincere, heartfelt love story. I'm so happy there's no third act break-up in this book. In other romances, it seemed like putting an unnecessary angsty argument between characters turned into a formula full of cliches. Thankfully, this book doesn't consist of this kind of disagreement!
Overall, this is an absolutely heartwarming, soft, quick read for romance fans that I sincerely recommend.
Special thanks to NetGalley and Grand Central Publishing/Forever for sharing this lovely book's digital reviewer copy with me in exchange for my honest thoughts.

Very character driven story, which may have led a little to be desired with the plot. But this was still an enjoyable read!
