This was a great ending to this duology about the founding of the school for good and evil. I hope we get more books set in this world.

"Fall of the School for Good and Evil" by Soman Chainani is the second & last of the prequels to the "School for Good and Evil" series. It's a thrilling and emotionally charged conclusion that provides some good insight into the world of Evers, Nevers, and Readers that we meet in the series. The story picks up where part one of the prequels, "Rise of the School for Good and Evil," left off.

The plot is fast-paced and engaging. There are plenty of plot twists and turns that keep the reader on their toes, and the stakes are high. The battle between Rafal and Rhial is particularly intense and emotional, and it's impossible not to feel invested in the outcome.

Overall, "Fall of the School for Good and Evil" provides readers with some great insight into the background of the world they were introduced to in "The School for Good and Evil." It's a satisfying and emotionally resonant "ending" that will leave readers excited to read or reread the original series. Whether you're a longtime fan of the series or a newcomer, this book is well worth reading.

I somewhat reluctantly and begrudgingly read all the books in this series out of a sense of completionism and mild interest in the direction the story would go.

I really haven't liked the series as a whole, but it did keep my interest enough to keep reading, so I guess that's something.

I did like Rise and Fall slightly more than the two main series. Rafal and Rhian had a more interesting dynamic than Sophia and Agatha, even if I still couldn't get more than mildly invested in the story.

I think that fans of the original series will like this conclusion, but I won't be rereading the series anytime soon.

2.5

I received an e-arc from NetGalley for an honest review. Thank you NetGalley and HarperCollins!

I may be a bit biased, as Soman Chainani is an auto-buy author for me, but this book was phenomenal. The pivot Chainani took with this duology from the fairytale epic of the original SfGaE series to this action-packed prequel, I was extremely satisfied.

With each twist and turn, I had to keep rethinking the story I thought I knew and accept that I was on a very different journey. It was full of fun characters - old and new - that I was ready to take Evil and Good turns at every moment. (It also felt like it left potential for another School for Good and Evil book 👀 but that may just be wishful thinking.)

The ending did feel a tad quick but didn’t take away from the epic finality of the novel that dared to punctuate each sentence with renewed context.

In short, it’s an excellent addition to the existing canon and is full of fun nods to the original series.

TRULY AND AHMAZING AND BEAUTIFULLY WRITTEN TALE! The plot and character ls had such depth! I am also angered by some of the plot twists and turns! Also, the characters that did not make it to the end of tale were a surprise as well! The relationship between the brothers as well as the other characters were well planned and executed. THIS STORY IS NOW LIVING RENT FREE IN MY HEAD FROM THE EMOTIONS IT BROUGHT OUT OF ME!!!!! OBSESSED IN THE BEST WAY!!!!!

Another great addition to this series! I highly recommend these to anyone who loves fantasy and fast-paced action. The tweens love these books because they can relate to characters and love the drama of the school setting. Plus, it's good against evil, who wouldn't love these books.

Now this book was definitely a great read from the school masters all the way to hook and Peter Pan. I’m definitely more ready to read the rest of the series now that I got my closure of the Twins.

This is the conclusion of the prequel series, The School for Good and Evil, where we have been treated once again to deliciously peel back the curtains and show the true natures of the most known fairytale characters. Not everyone is as they seem. “Beware of those wolves in sheep's clothing” as there were plenty of them.

Many of our favorite characters from Rise of the School for Good and Evil are back but my heart still belongs to Rafal. I love a good bad boy. The characters are written with more insight into why and how they became the way they are at the end, which is what I really got into. What I enjoyed was that the author really makes us think about the grey shades of what is truly good and evil and its definitions. At times, the grip factor waned for me and I have to admit, I did start skimming but for a good portion of the book was engaging.

Do you need to read the book, Rise of the School for Good and Evil prior to this one? Definitely YES! It will make this book easier to comprehend.

In the second prequel before the original series (The School for Good and Evil) an epic battle ensues as Rafal, Rhian, and others fight to gain the Storian’s favor and become the school master. Lessons are learned about good and evil and power. Readers will devour this exciting prequel that lends additional insight to the original series.

The Best Yet from Soman Chainani!

I found the characters in this duology to be just as compelling as the original School for Good and Evil Series. This book provided a very satisfying ending to the story, and was a wonderful expansion to the world Soman has created.

While this book feels very similar in some ways to the original series; both sharing themes of Good and Evil and what makes a soul one or the other, I found the themes to be a bit more fleshed out in this book, and I really enjoyed Soman’s interpretation in this story.

As always, the fairytale tropes are flipped upside down, and we absolutely love to see it. As well as the main character brothers, I especially enjoyed the character of Princess Kyma. Those who’ve enjoyed the world of the School for Good and Evil will absolutely love this duology!

This story starts off where Rise of the School for Good and Evil ends. From the first page it is packed full of twists, turns, blindsides, treachery, and adventure. It is a magical ride! I thought I knew what was coming, but my goodness! Chainani is masterful at world-building and character development. After reading both Rise and Fall of the School for Good and Evil I will definitely be rereading the initial series.

This is a great read! Make sure to read the other books in the series first!

Having not read any of the other books in the series, I wasn’t sure what to expect. The series has gotten a lot of buzz on Netflix. There is tension between the two brothers who run the school. One is good and the other evil. The storian which records all of the adventures in their world can also seal their fate. They are meant to keep balance and peace in their realm. Then one day centuries into their roles as headmaster, the storian writes that two will become one. Then, everything starts to fall apart.

While reading this book, I was reminded of another tale that I read called, “Peter and the Starcatchers.” While the premise is different, I enjoyed the idea of Peter Pan not being such a good guy. He has ambitions of his own. Hook is involved as well with smattering of other familiar literary characters.

Rafal and Rhian must find a way to restore the balance or their lives will be forfeit and the storian will chose a new master of the school. Will there be peace between the brothers or war? Who is really evil and who is good? We shall see.

4.5/5 stars. I was worried about this being a prequel, as I've already read School for Good and Evil, but this book did not disappoint. It fit seamlessly with the world shown to us in the other book and had me hooked from the first page. I really enjoyed getting to learn about these brothers and falling back into this world. It was an epic Hogwarts-esqe ride and I look forward to reading future publications from the author.

I received an advance review copy for free through NetGalley, and I am leaving this review voluntarily
