Rogue by Elle Kennedy is book 2 of the Prep series. Let me start by saying, Elle Kennedy is my queen of romance. She can write no wrong in my eyes. With that being said, I need the rest of this series. So far it’s been amazing and I’ve loved every second of it. There are still so many mysteries needing to be solved and I’m here for it. I highly recommend this book but strongly suggest reading the first of this series entitled Misfit. Again, Elle Kennedy is the best when it comes to writing!!
I loved getting back to Sandover Prep! I wished there had been more of Fenn and Casey together, but mystery of what truly happened on prom night kept me on edge, for sure! I had my theories, but I was SORELY mistaken! The end was *chef’s kiss*! I need more!!! I need to know about Lawson! I need to know if Silas will always be a wolf in sheep’s clothing! I need ALL the answers!
I think this is the first Elle Kennedy book that I've really disliked. It took me FOREVER to get through and felt way too long. I didn't like any of the characters and the whole thing felt incredibly unrealistic. The sensationalized drug use, partying and being just a horrible person was so overwhelming in this story. The literal only part I enjoyed was like the last sentence.
Thank you netgalley and bloom books for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I, like another reviewer, started off a bit confused. I didn't realize that this was the second in a series. That being said, I still really enjoyed the story and found Kennedy's writing to be well done and compelling. We will definitely be purchasing for the branch!
While this book gives off strong Gossip Girl vibes, I had to DNF it because of the explicit scenes featuring underage characters. I don't understand why there are ever explicit scenes with underage characters. It would have been so easy to just make the characters 18 for their senior year in boarding school. But, Casey very clearly says she's 17 a chapter or two before these scenes happen. I just couldn't continue reading it knowing that these were literally children.
I also struggled to follow the characters and story. There were six POVs to follow, which was simply too many. Oddly enough, the most enjoyable POV was Lawson who seemed to be the least integral to the main plot point. To be fair, I didn't finish the book, so maybe Silas and Lawson somehow became important to the story, but their POVs really seemed unnecessary to the book.
I gave Rogue 2 stars because I found the mystery intriguing and I love Gossip Girl, which was very much the vibe this book gives. I simply was not intrigued enough to continue the book after encountering the issues above.
I absolutely LOVED this book and I think it was even better than the first one. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The first book in this series mainly focuses on Sloane and her boyfriend, RJ. And after RJ has been digging into Sloane’s sisters near drowning experience, book one leaves you on a major cliffhanger.
Rogue picks up right where book one left off, but this book mainly focuses on Casey and Fenn. Casey is Sloane’s sister and Fenn is RJ’s step brother. Casey can’t remember what happened that night she almost drowned in a car. There are unexpected twists and turns and people accused and when the person finally comes to light it’s such a shock. 😲
There is quite a bit of miscommunication and lying in this book between couples but in the end it all works the way it’s supposed to. We love a good HEA!
This book also ends with a surprise on the last page so I can’t wait to see what she does for a 3rd book!
- Can’t be read as a stand-alone
- Spice level 🌶️🌶️
- Multiple POV (not as many as book one though)
AND we can’t forget about Lawson and how troubled he is. Pleaseeee Elle write him a redemption book 🥺
Through no fault of the author, I read book 2 before knowing about Book 1! So I did have a little bit of confusion. However I still enjoyed the story line and conflict arcs. But now I have to run and download book ! You gained another reader Elle Kennedy :)
I enjoyed misfit so much that I was worried about the second installment disappointing me. I should have known better to worry because Ms. Kennedy has yet to fail me! I DEVOURED this book. It was truly me of the best reads of the year for me so far. Twisty, suspenseful, and has you tripping over your own theories until the very end but its also filled with so many other spectrums of emotions and it just showcases how well Elle develops her stories and characters. I love this series. I cannot wait to read the next installment. 5/5 stars
Elle Kennedy has done it again. I could not put this book down. I was questioning things at every new development just like Casey was while she tried to put the pieces together and figure what happened to her. Shocking discoveries that left me wanting more.
I liked the different points of view but I didn't think it was necessary for so many characters to have a viewpoint or a chapter in the book. I didn't think it added to storyline in any way that it warranted their own chapter, rather a few pages could have been added to a different character's point of view.
I related to Casey on many levels. I think as she struggled to come to terms with what happened with her and dealt with her emotions, she did what she thought was best, even if those around her didn't agree with her actions. As she had this internal war with herself, she realized that she may need to be the bad girl and that being a compassionate, kind person is a strength of their own.
I was expecting more spice compared to some of the other novels by Kennedy that I have read, but I also enjoyed this mystery as well. It can be a standalone and easy to pick up on things if you haven't read the first one, Misfit
Thank you to NetGalley and SOURCEBOOKS Bloom Books for this ARC! I was eager to dive into this one after the first book and I was not disappointed!
I can’t say much about the plot as this is a sequel. What I can say is this is a New Adult romance set at an elite all boys prep school. Casey Tresscott is the headmaster’s daughter and Sloane’s sister. After being involved in a traumatic accident months before Casey has had a long road to recovery and Fenn has been a massive part of that. Fenn Bishop is RJ’s stepbrother and is best friends with Lawson and Silas whose POV’s we also see. This book sees Casey and Fenn navigating their relationship after the revelations of the last book.
Elle why do you do this to me!? The cliffhanger at the end! I am beyond excited for book three now! I love Elle Kennedy’s writing style and the way she writes her characters. Everyone has a very distinct voice. I absolutely loved Casey in the first book and all she did was grow in this one. Some of her one liners actually had me laughing out loud. Fenn is also a really interesting character wracked with grief and guilt and I think he and Casey really work well together.
I loved seeing how strong RJ and Sloane’s relationship has gotten as well and there was so much drama in this one. It really does feel like reading a season of One Tree Hill or Gossip Girl! I actually found myself getting really emotional at the end. I also like how Elle explores dysfunctional parental relationships because I don’t have a relationship at all with my biological father now and it’s almost cathartic to me seeing these characters dealing with similar things. Although I don’t wish that on anyone.
I really recommend this series to anyone who has enjoyed Elle Kennedy’s work in the past or who is into New Adult high school romances that read more New Adult than YA. Yeah these are definitely not YA! This one was released on 7th March so go check it out but make sure you read the first book Misfit first as these are not standalones!
This is the perfect type of book to get you out of a reading slump! Sexy and romantic, this is everything I was looking for!
As a fan of Elle Kennedy's Briar University novels, I have been looking forward to another one of her series capturing me as much as the hockey players at Briar. Well, I have finally found it with Prep! I loved Misfit and the continuation of the story in Rogue. The ending left me on the edge of my seat as I anxiously awaited the arrival of the next in the series. I am excited to see more about the drama with this crew unfold, especially after the ending with Lawson, Silas, and Gabe.
Great book! So much drama, I loved it! I liked all the different POVs and how they all knew each other. Fenn and Casey’s love story was very different than other books. The prom drama was very interesting and kept me wanting to keep reading. I really hope there will be a 3rd book in the series for Gabe. I want to read more!
This series is totally out of my typical genre comfort zone, but something about Elle Kennedy's books make me break all the rules.
(which seems perfectly on brand for the Prep series 😆)
After Misfit, we were left with quite the shocking open ending, so I was itching for this second book to arrive.
The writing is compulsively readable and it flows seamlessly between multiple POVs of naughty rich girls and boys behaving badly. The character development is on point and I love that RJ and Sloane, Fenn and Casey, and all our favorites are back with another entertaining wild ride.
Fenn and Casey are getting closer and although we get all the fun witty banter and cutesy coupling - the mystery about what happened to Casey that night at the lake slowly unfolds through sexy and steamy moments and some perfectly cringey and over the top drama.
And just like Misfit, Rogue left us with so many exposed secrets, a characters fate left in limbo, and yet another shocking cliffhanger when an old friend returns. I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book!
2.5/5 - Can you possibly like a book where you don't like a single thing about any of the characters? Rogue is the second book in the Prep series by Elle Kennedy. I don't recommend reading it if you haven't read the first book, or you may be lost. I liked the first book enough to pick up this book, but in this book the characters grated on my nerves. Maybe I am just not the target audience, but I have liked other new adult books in the past.
There were so many things that I just didn't like about the book, but the long and short is that it just did not work for me. I found the main story we were looking at (Fenn and Casey's story) to be lack luster and there was just so much back and forth with them. I also didn't understand why Casey and Sloane were so bent out of shape by the "thing" Fenn did. Casey also does something that is a major betrayal in this book, and I felt that it didn't even need to be there.
This book just didn't work for me and I am not sure if I will pick up further books in the series. I have enjoyed other Elle Kennedy books, but this just not work. Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks for a copy of this book. All opinions are 100% mine.
I enjoyed the story even though it was very young for me with the teenage drama. It definitely is addicting and a page turner.
Elle Kennedy does it again! Misfit is the first in this boys prep school novel. I loved it so much and couldn't wait for the next installment. Rogue did not disappoint. Fenn and Casey have gotten closer since the last novel and I love it. Fenn is such a great male character. He is broody, a reformed gigolo, and so handsome. He has real feelings for Casey but he's hiding something big from her that might destroy them. Casey is fed up with the bullying at her Catholic girl school, whispered comment and hate thrown her way. She is not made of glass, like everyone believes. She just wants to remember what happened prom night when she drove her car into the water and almost died. Her life would be able to move forward at that point or would it?
I just love this series and can not get enough of these characters and their drama filled lives. I'm ready for the next book now!

This book focuses on Casey and Fenn. Fenn and Casey become close after Casey’s accident last spring. After Caseys accident her older sister and her boyfriend start looking into the accident after they are dissatisfied with what the police find.
Caseys sister finds something connecting Fenn to the accident, she tells Casey. From that point on Casey and Fenn are fighting because Fenn won’t tell her the truth about the accident. Casey eventually learns the truth about what happened, but the truth is shocking!
I liked it and would recommend if you like romance books. I plan on reading the authors other books as well.
Literally I love anything Elle Kennedy writes! I would read her grocery lists! I love this story so much and yet again got sucked into one of her worlds!
