This was such a good read! I was fully sucked into the story right away and I really enjoyed the characters. The journey the author took these characters on was exciting and unique which is something I am really interested in with books now. I will be recommending this book to all of my friends and family.

I loved this book so much! I literally couldn't put it down. The world building was so easy to understand, and I enjoyed learning about the covens and different forms of magic. Tana did waver back and forth several times between the beliefs she grew up with and the new information presented by Wolfe, but I found it believable that she wouldn't immediately reject her upbringing and instead be conflicted for quite awhile. The romance between Tana and Wolfe pulled me in immediately. They had so much chemistry, and I was eagerly awaiting their next secret rendezvous. I loved every little touch, heated glance, and passionate kiss that they shared. There was enough tension and drama to keep me from getting bored, and I really couldn't predict exactly how things would play out. I don't usually read standalone fantasies, but everything was fleshed out well and then wrapped up in a satisfying way at the end. I'll definitely be keeping this author on my radar in the future!

I'm in LOVE with Rachel's Griffin's writing, and also with the characters in this book. The prose was poetic, the setting was magical (literally), and I really enjoyed the plot. I read it in one day because I just couldn't put it down. I'd love to see more from this world, showing us how things turned out.

Bring Me Your Midnight is the second book I’ve read by Rachel Griffin, and unfortunately neither of those reads have left a lasting impression on me. Although her plots always sound promising, her characters and stories just never live up to my expectations. Her covers are stunning and they are quick and easy reads, but I’m not sure if I’ll go back to pick up any more of her novels.

I always appreciate how Rachel Griffin writes magic and nature together and that was one of my favorite aspects of this book. She does a wonderful job at creating this atmospheric island setting where the magic and the water and plants and earth feel like characters in their own right. I thought it was beautifully written. Anyone who has read her previous books will completely understand as those notes are key in her style as an author. I'll read her books for that alone as it makes me want to go outside and sit with some trees and dig my toes into the dirt. We need more of those vibes in the world.

However, the rest of this book just did not motivate me to pick it up. I found the first half to use too much repetitiveness, especially around the "duty" aspect of Tana marrying Landon. There were only so many times I could hear her internal thoughts come to the conclusion that Landon is a "nice guy." My other issue with the first half was there, not a lot actually seemed to happen. Besides getting the lush, island imagery (which I loved and probably kept me reading), it felt like too long of a setup for the bulk of the story. The repetitive phrasing carried through the second half, but the plot picked up, it introduced more conflict and hooked me a lot more.

Also, I felt I had originally heard this was Rachel's step into adult (new adult?) fiction and went into this book with that expectation. But I see now it was tagged as YA/Teens and I think that may have changed my perceptions while reading it.

Overall thoughts:

Tana Fairchild’s life was planned from the minute she was born. She would marry the governors son and secure an alliance between the non-magical Mainland and her magical island hometown the Witchery. Although, fate has other plans for Tana when she meets Wolfe Hawthorne.

Wolfe comes from an old, secret coven hidden on the island that practices high magic or magic at its full potential. While Tana comes from the new coven that uses low magic or magic that has been diminished. Worlds collide when the two meet challenging everything Tana thought she knew about her community.

I absolutely loved this story! I thought the world Griffin created was enchanting. The tenuous relationship between the witches and the mainlanders was really interesting. I felt bad for Tana that she was put in a position where her arranged marriage would ultimately secure peace.

The forbidden love she finds with Wolfe was mesmerizing. I loved their chemistry and felt like I could feel the longing between them. This one is very mildly spicy with just enough detail to get your mind going.

Watching Tana grow and challenge the world around her was very satisfying to watch. I was on the edge of my seat towards the end, scared about the choices she might make. This was a beautifully written story filled with tension and wonder. If you like fantasy romance then definitely check this one out!

This book was so magical, just like Rachel Griffin's other books. I love the way she does magic, witches, and themes in her books. She is an auto-buy author for me for sure.

The only thing that didn't make it 5 stars was that some parts seemed rushed. I wish this book was a little longer so we could have those parts have more time on page.

I loved reading Bring Me Your Midnight by Rachel Griffin!! I thought it was a fresh and unique story about two witch covens on island off the main land. The FMC it well rounded, courageous and does fit into her society's norms the way her parents wish her to. I loved all the small details Rachel included in the story that would become a bigger part near the end. Its always fun seeing something and thinking hmmmm I wonder why this detail was mentioned or if it'll be brought up again. All the questions I had while reading were answered. I think it had really good pacing and kept me interested throughout as there are multiple twists, turns and heartbreaks. The magic system was explained thoroughly without info dumping on you right at the beginning and it was easy to understand. I love the tie in to the magic and nature, specifically the water. I did receive an ARC of this title in exchange for an honest review.

In Bring Me Your Midnight by Rachel Griffin we follow Tana, the daughter of the coven leader. Tana's path has always been set for her. She is to be married to the Governor’s son on the mainland solidifying the alliance and protection of her coven. Tana has always felt solid in the choices that have been made and the job she has been given until she misses The Rush. An event on the full moon in which her coven relinquishes a build-up of magic into the sea. On this night she meets Wolfe and learns there is more to her coven’s history and their magic than meets the eye.

My Thoughts

This book has the perfect mix of what I look for in a book. Beautiful imagery, relatable characters, and a seemingly simple plot.  Let us dive a little deeper into what these three things meant for me when it came to this book.

Imagery & Setting

From the first page the sensory elements sold this book for me. From the beginning and through the book the silence of the sea or of being underwater where even for a moment the world is quiet held such sway for me. I have always enjoyed the feeling of sinking below the water while in the tub or the pool and enjoying the calming feeling of the world dampening for those seconds like there is nothing else in the world. I also enjoyed the deep descriptions of the physical and tangible items like the shops, houses, and clothing. It is the details in the little things that help to paint a picture and bring the setting of the story to life.

Characters

Now I can never fully enjoy a book unless I relate to a character in even the smallest way. I’m a character-over-plot type of reader. I want to know the characters, relate to them, and have the characters strike some kind of chord in my heart and the characters in Bring Me Your Midnight did just that. For me, the characters of Tana, Ivy, and Wolfe were the characters I related to the most. It was Tana’s inquisitive and wild nature. The loyalty and friendship of Ivy, and the love and protectiveness of Wolfe. These characteristics helped the characters move past words on a page. The characters became something more and reminded me of strengths within myself that are sometimes easy to forget.

Plot

As for the plot, it was such a simple idea that with the twists and turns grew and evolved and I never knew what was coming which I feel matches the nature of the sea which places a role all its own in this story. This book had me gasping, laughing, and crying. The plot while full never once felt cluttered and Rachel Griffin’s writing style kept the story moving at the perfect pace. 

In The End

I could have spent all day with the book, but in the end, I’m glad I let the words drift into my mind at a slower pace and that I got to sit with the book for far longer. If you are a fan of magical realism, romance, drama, family bonds, and friendship you will not be disappointed with the story. I seem to say this after every book of Rachel Griffin’s but Bring Me Your Midnight may be my new favorite book of the ones she has written.

This book was everything I hoped for. It’s beautiful! So romantic, enthralling and the plot is captivating. I read this book in one sitting and was left feeling content. I always want more of Rachel’s books, each one has made its way into my favourites, as usual Rachel is so talented with words.

I really enjoyed this one.
An overall cozy, enchanting, and emotional romantic YA fantasy book.
It gave off really whimsical cottage core vibes and I think it's the perfect book to read in the late summer/ early fall.
A bit slow starting for me , but by about half way through I found myself completely immersed in this beautifully written book full of witches,
secrets, nature magic and forbidden love.
The world building was good, the magic system was very interesting, and the characters were well developed.
Overall, a really enjoyable standalone that ties everything up nicely, while also leaving room for more.

Rachel's writing is always atmospheric and moody. This is a perfect read with a fully developed and unique magic system, a sweet romance, and poetic description.

This is the third book with a setting of witches, the love and prose of our Mother Earth, and pacific north west.

This is a gem of a YA book perfect for the moody witch vibes and those obsessed with Taylor Swifts midnights album.

This story was sweet and the magic system built to collide with our earth is Griffin’s signature writing back with force. However the build up of emotions and what our fmc wants versus what she needs to do for duty of her coven, I felt was lacking with the romance and the character growth. It was sweet but nothing more imo.

Bring Me Your Midnight is the book to read for those that want a sweet YA romance and witches and magic by the ocean.

This was a beautifully written and enchanting book!

I really loved how I was transported to this very atmospheric island full of witches and hidden secrets, Tana our MC is very likable and I loved following her along in the magical journey.

The very beginning is slightly slower, but the action and the angst pick up very quickly.

The romance is sweet and it really has you rooting for the couple. I could feel the emotions pouring from the page. There were moments when the conflict would pick up and I could feel my blood pressure going up! The writing is brilliant because it just came alive.

Read this if you love witches, whimsical magic that is tied to the earth, twists and turns, a sweet romance, and atmospheric settings!

This is by far my favorite book by this author so far

I went into BRING ME YOUR MIDNIGHT mostly blind, only knowing it had something to do with Witches.

A few thoughts:

1. It took me a while to figure out what kind of time period this was set in. My guess it is set close to present day, on an isolated island. But this was never really clear.

2. I LOVED Wolfe! Tana took me a little longer to like. I struggled with her because she was so agreeable to go along with whatever was best for her coven, even though it wasn’t what was best for her. And no one but Wolfe really cared about Tana and her happiness.

3. The first half of the book was very slow for me, then I hit the midway point and couldn’t put it down.

4. I LOVED the ending!

5. The writing was beautiful, although there were some bits that were told and not shown. I did really, really appreciate that one chapter from Wolfe’s POV.

6. I ended up liking all characters I hated for 90% of the book. Somehow, there was mostly happy ending for everyone.

This is the first Rachel Griffin book I’ve read, and I will hopefully find some time to dig into her other books later this year…during the witchy season.

Let me just start by saying that this book is easy to read, I devoured it in one day and could have finished it in one sitting if I didn’t have responsibilities. I have read two other Rachel Griffin books and one thing that I absolutely love about her books is her magic system and world building. She takes something as simple as witches/magic and really makes it in to something completely unique.

My biggest issue is that this read a little too Young Adult for me. I did enjoy the romance, but the relationship comes across very insta-lovey to me. I also had a lot of issues with Tana’s mother and her best friend, Iris. I would love to learn more about the old coven that practices higher magic, I wish we could have spent more time with them.

This book!!! Wonderful world building and characters! I loved Tana and Wolfe.

There are so many parts I loved and the writing style was so effortless executed (though I know lots of effort went into it). This setting and the characters were so vivid in my mind, I know I’ll be dreaming of moonflowers for many moons to come!

Bring Me Your Midnight follows teen Tana Fairchild as she must choose between her coven and what may be her only chance at true love.

Rachel Griffin is a master at atmosphere, and Bring Me Your Midnight is no exception. It’s witches in an island setting, with all the beauty, magic, and mystery that come with it. Somehow the line between a heartfelt, sunny summer read and a spooky autumn book is straddled perfectly here. Tana is a fun main character to follow, and I thoroughly enjoyed her internal journey as she struggled to reconcile her feelings and her birthright.

In all, this is another really solid Rachel Griffin read, one I will definitely be adding to my regular rotation of books I reach for as Autumn sets in.

I was lucky to receive an advance reader copy for this beautiful YA book. The book has a wonderful concept and well written characters.

Unfortunately I struggled to be pulled into the book. The book pacing was all over the place. Some spots were slow and others were fast such as the romantic development with Wolfe. The dialogue between Tana and her parents at times felt awkward and did not feel realistic at times. Despite struggling to get into it I still enjoyed the story.

I think the book is a great read for those that love YA romantasy. It’s a cute and cozy story that you should settle into a nice comfy blanket with a cup of your favorite tea to read.
