“I press my lips to his. He comes alive in darkness, so darkness I become.” 🌊🖤✨
Rachel Griffin is a sorceress of words. Every book she writes, I fall more and more in love with her stories that are intwined with nature and imperfect, messy love.
Bring Me Your Midnight centers on Mortana, a girl who yearns for freedom but willingly sacrifices it for the safety of her coven… that is, until she meets a boy named Wolfe who opens her eyes to the truth.
Side note: fellow Gilmore Girls fans, Wolfe gives me total Jess vibes!!! Moody and angry at the world (but sensitive on the inside) and all self-righteous… swoon 🖤 Second side note: Chapter twenty-six will give you all the feels in the best way possible!
All that to say, if you didn’t preorder this gem of a book (and add Rachel to your auto-buy authors list), get to it, sweet summer child ✌🏻
Rachel Griffin does it again! I LOVED THIS BOOK. It was beautiful and haunting and so atmospheric. I knew I was going to enjoy it like her previous two, but I was not expecting to fall head over heels in love with this story. Tana was an incredible MC. She was kind and brave and also conflicted between her duties and her desires. I loved that she stood up for herself, but also how much she cared for others. And WOLFE. Oh my. He was just perfection. I loved he and Tana’s path from strangers and perceived enemies to more. I also really loved how the magic system was set up in this one. Once again, Griffin created this magical world that completely swept me away. I will read anything she writes. Her books always feel like a perfect fall day with the coziest sweater.

What an incredible story. I love every single thing that Rachel writes and this book was no different. This was an amazing story of duty and finding one's self. Tana is constantly trying to fit in to the mold that everyone wants her to be in. But she has never been that person. She is a free spirit and to be stuck in a life that she does not want is not going to work for her. She loves her family and her coven so much and you really feel what she is feeling, but she simply cannot sacrifice herself for something that will not make her happy. Also enter Wolfe, who holy moly, give me a handsome dark witch all day every day. Wolfe helps Tana discover who she truly is. I love the way Rachel always connects the magic in her books to nature. All the magic stems from the earth and nature. Each of her books include some way that the magic can save or destroy the earth. Bring Me Your Midnight was no different. I adored this book so much and would definitely recommend this to people. Cannot wait for my preorder to come in in August!
Oh my gosh!!! I LOVE THIS!! I was immediately captivated just by this title and cover. I couldn't wait any longer to read this book and I'm so glad I didn't have to. Rachel Griffin does it again with making me feel like I was actually there, being immersed in this story. I love the sea, the beach and everything that comes with it so obviously the descriptions were amazing. I do understand the feeling of being loyal to family and duty but also the feeling of being yourself and making your own decisions. Mortana had a difficult time with this in my opinion, because she never questioned her life before Wolfe. At some points it was kind of "annoying" when she was conflicted but when he was doing the magic with her, oh my gosh I loved it. I should've seen the twist coming but I didn't and it hurt. The actual story itself was very nice and sent a good messaged of fighting for what you believe in, even if the consequences are bad. The romance between wolfe and tana, was a nice build up and rewarding at the end. I've said it before and I'll say it again, Rachel Griffin can take my money any day, I love her writing and her stories. I've already pre-ordered this book so this beautiful book can be displayed on my shelves. Thank you NetGalley, Rachel Griffin and the sourcebooksfire for this amazing e-ARC.
Having read and enjoyed Rachel's other books, I went in knowing that there would be a certain atmosphere to it, but I felt rather disappointed at the lack of substance at the end. The plot and story was strong, but I felt the character development and relationship this time was very shallow and rushed. Because I didn't have a strong idea of the pacing, the two characters falling in love and Tana deciding to give up her family felt quite sudden when I was sure they've only known each other a few days. Although the focus was around Tana saving her coven, I felt it was centered instead on the romance, which because I wasn't emotionally invested in this, the culmination and ultimately my enjoyment was never too high.
I do like that the book does world-build the magic system but that too felt very outlandish and therefore confused me.
Rachel Griffin writes a beautiful world! I've thoroughly enjoyed all the books she's written so far and this on was no different.
I stayed up late finishing this ARC (which hadn't happened lately) and I absolutely LOVED it. It cured my reading slump. The characters had so much chemistry and I love how fast paced the story was without being rushed. I don't know if there's going to be a sequel, but I'd love to continue reading more about Tana and Wolfe.
This was fantastic!
Bring Me Your Midnight is tender coming of age magical fantasy about finding yourself and forging your own path in life. It was an absolute emotional rollercoaster fraught with conflict, love, loss, duty and triumph - at times equally heartbreaking as it was harrowing but altogether beautiful. This was my first book by Rachel Griffin and I cannot wait to read more of her work!
Thank you so much to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Fire for the advanced copy.
Mortana belongs to a coven of low tide witches who swear off the use of dark magic in order to maintain a truce with the non magic main landers. To cement this truce she is promised in marriage to a prominent main lander but it is not a love match. Then Mortana meets Wolfe, someone who opens her eyes to the truth about her coven and who she feels a growing attraction to.
TANA AND WOLFE GET BEHIND ME!!! HATERS GET BACK THIS IS NOT A SAFE PLACE FOR YOU!! I know I say this a lot, but this book TRULY had me shaking, crying, throwing up, gasping, kicking my feet, and more!!!
If Rachel Griffin is going to do one thing, it’s write characters that I care about so deeply that it makes me want to hand to hand combat literally every single person who looks at them the wrong way.
I won’t say too much about the plot because I don’t want to get into spoilers but as an overview, this story follows our main character, Tana, who is the daughter of her coven’s leader. Tana leads a life of duty and responsibility, and she has her entire life mapped out for her. She doesn’t get much of a say in the major life altering decisions in her life, and no one really prioritizes her or her happiness. Tana never really questioned this, and accepted that this was simply her role in life….until one midnight she meets someone who changes everything for her.
I really enjoyed getting to follow Tana on her journey as she battles with duty and expectations vs her own happiness and wants for her life. Additionally, she has to learn how to process and move forward with new information that turns her entire world upside down and contradicts literally everything she’s ever known. She’s truly going through it and not receiving a lot of support from anyone. She has so much growth over the course of the book and by the end I was screaming and cheering for her!! That’s my girl!! If she ever does anything wrong, no she didn’t!!!
I also love Wolfe SO much like…immediately from the first scene we meet him I was obsessed but I cant say anything more because spoilers 😭
This book is written so beautifully and once I got into it, it was impossible to put down!! I so desperately wish I had more to read because I don’t want it to be over🥲 I read and loved The Nature of Witches but this one BLEW ME AWAY and I HIGHLY recommend this book, especially if you’ve read and enjoyed Griffin’s precious books!
Thank you so much to Sourcebooks Fire and NetGalley for this eARC!
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC!
This is my first book written by Rachel Griffin and I really liked it! It was a solid duty/role in the community vs what you want for your own life trope and it was written very well. I thought the FMC was very relatable and well-developed. The world of magic and witches was also written really well. I was engaged reading this book and will definitely read more of Rachel Griffin's writing.
I was super excited about this book but I just don’t care about it. I could have stopped reading this book a bunch of times and not care about how everything was resolved. I felt nothing for the romance or plot. Tana is supposed to be 19 but I felt she was younger like 16. The writing wasn’t attention grabbing. The world building was the only thing interesting about this book but not enough to hold my interest. This book just was not for me.

In typical Rachel Griffin fashion, I wasn’t completely sure I liked this book until I hit the midpoint—and subsequently fell head over heels in love with the story.
This is definitely a book that creeps into your heart slowly. I think my main issue toward the start stemmed from Tana—I struggled to connect with her right away, I think because I really struggled to believe the things she believed. But as the story goes on, and you see the way the lies have held Tana down and kept her from reaching her potential, only to watch her sort through them and find herself in the mess of untangling everything—you can’t help but begin to root for her and Wolfe.
And the romance. The romance was chef’s kiss. I always adore men written by Rachel Griffin and Wolfe was no exception. He was the perfect blend of angst and heart and passion. He and Tana seemed to balance each other out perfectly, and I felt all the sparks of chemistry whenever they were on the page together.
I think the only thing that kept this from being a full 5 stars for me was that the pacing felt a little off at times and was overall too slow. There wasn’t much happening for a lot of the book—and unfortunately the little that was happening wasn’t always enough to keep my attention. Obviously, I still really loved the book, even with the slow pace. But I do wish there was a little more to the story.
I highly recommend this one!

This was such a beautiful and magical story ❤️ I’m so torn between reading more about these characters and being content with how it all ended. There was magic, first love, beautiful growth…quite possibly my favorite read so far this year!
Bring Me Your Midnight by Rachel Griffin
Um, I loved it. That’s all. That’s my review.
Just kidding, I could never get away with saying so few words about it. This book was, dare I say, magical 😉.
I’m excited it releases in the fall because this felt exactly like curling up with a blanket next to the fire on chilly autumn day 🍂.
The romance is sweet, and dramatic, and filled with fire. The chemistry is undeniable. Our male lead all things broody and scowling while our female lead is wild and independent.
The world building took me a bit longer to get into but once I did I was fully immersed. It had similar vibes to another book and it took me a minute to separate the two.
Content: fade to black, explicit language (a few f-words)

Tana is a witch who lives on an island of witches that are so feared by the magicless mainland that they must practice only small, low magic to stay alive. Since birth, she has been destined to marry the governor's son on the mainland to solidify the Witchery as a safe place for witches without persecution from the mainland. But when she meets Wolfe, secrets are exposed and her entire life is turned upside down. And maybe she'll even find love along the way.
The verdict: Such a good example of well done YA with the perfect amount of witchy vibes and cozy characters.
The good: I loved the witchcraft in this book so much. All the magic - low and high - were beautifully described and made me want to go commune with nature. The storyline was compelling and I enjoyed the plot as it progressed.
The meh: The characters were a little one note, without too much nuance. They had singular purposes to the story and in their lives and I wish they would have been a little more fleshed out. We see that Wolfe loves Tana, but we don't totally understand why or what he loves about her so much to be this dramatic.
You will like this if you like: forbidden romance, YA, witches and magic, arranged marriage, and cozy fantasy.
Overall, this was incredibly solid and I will recommend it to my audience. StoryGraph review to be posted 5/26 and an Instagram post will be made near publication date.
Return to another Rachel Griffin world, immerse yourself in the sea and drown in dark, wondrous magic.
Our heroine, Mortana Fairchild, embodies a soft, femme, making your way through the world kindness first kind of bravery that is kind of beautiful to see, and the prose it such that allows you to disappear into the story.
A lovely, light read, that fans of Rachel Griffin will not be disappointed with!
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an opportunity to read this eARC in exchange for a fair review.
This book was magical, in the sense that it has witches and magic, but also in the sense that it drew me in under its spell. It was truly stunning. What I loved about it:
✨Atmospheric prose, you truly feel like you are on the island, in the ocean, working in the perfumery, with Tana
✨Gorgeous magic influenced heavily by nature
✨Heartbreaking, beautiful forbidden romance that will split your heart open in the best way
✨Themes of community and duty vs living your life for yourself
✨Lovely friendship and familiar relationships that have their differences and struggles but are true and deep
Gah the chokehold this book had on me while I was reading! I immediately went and preordered it!
There is a saying, "never judge a book by its cover.' In this case, go right ahead, because the cover is gorgeous and the writing and story is just as beautiful. This was a very original plot (which I always admire) and the prose was well-written, and it felt more like reading poetry and a sentence. I loved the characters, and the overall world that Ms. Griffin created. I didn't want to leave. I really enjoyed this!
Bring Me Your Midnight was everything I hoped it would be. It fun, full of magic, and adventure.
I loved it!
