"What Happened on Hicks Road" by Hannah Jayne is a suspenseful YA novel that will keep readers on the edge of their seats. Lennox Oliver has been trying to move on from her troubled past and enjoy her new life in California. However, after a night of partying and driving down the supposedly haunted Hicks Road, Lennox and her friends hit something or someone. Although her friends insist that it was nothing more than a deer, Lennox is haunted by the image of a terrified girl in her headlights.

As Lennox tries to come to terms with what happened, she finds herself receiving cryptic messages and notes that make her question her own sanity. The author does a great job of building suspense and keeping the reader guessing until the very end. Lennox's struggle with her own mental health adds an extra layer of complexity to the story and makes the reader question what is real and what is not.

While the novel is fast-paced and engaging, the characters could have been more fully developed. Some of their actions and motivations seemed unrealistic or unclear at times. Additionally, the novel's resolution felt rushed and left some loose ends untied.

Overall, "What Happened on Hicks Road" is a thrilling and suspenseful read that will keep readers guessing until the end. It's perfect for fans of YA suspense and mystery novels.
