I will start off saying … I confess to being an adult & I’m not a fan of bugs but I do have a sense of adventure & love to laugh. Plus I have plenty of young nieces! I need more books like this in my life.
The narrator was engaging & felt one with the content.
If you don’t want your children just laughing at poop jokes then you came to the right place. This book takes a little boy who is drawn into the “IT” crowd at school & is terrified they’ll find out his secret, he eats poop, not only eats it but loves it and turns it into lessons.
1 - don’t be afraid of letting your inner light shine.
2 - you’re not alone in your weirdness.
3 - bugs are more interesting than you think.
I listened to this book twice. What can I say? It’s short, funny, informative, right up my alley. If you’re an adult you might find the list at the end of the book interesting. The things that bugs do, who knew?!
Thank you NetGalley & Macmillan Audio! I need this hard cover for my shelf & nieces! I’m a book enabler. Christmas is coming! Amazon Book Wishlist!
“I Eat Poop” is a hilarious story. I loved the audiobook and the narrator! As an educator
I think this would be a fun read to discuss how no matter who you are- we are all unique in our own ways. The title alone had me intrigued!! Thank you to NetGalley for the arc!
This is such an excellent audiobook.
The sound effects added another element to the story. The audio narrator was perfect for this.
I liked the incorporation of other types of bugs.
My oldest son is 12 years old and overheard me listening to this book and walked back, did a double take and said “mom did that guy just say he was eating a poop sandwich!?”
It’s great and would be a great way to start your child’s day listening to this on the way to drop off at school.
I Eat Poop is a really fun children's story. I loved the audiobook, with the cast of characters making it a really exciting story. I love the theme of everyone being weird in their own way.
I Eat Poop by Mark Pett is not only hilarious but informative. A story about a brave young dung beetle that wants to sit in while being himself. There are so many educational factors packed into this one. I loved it and will be buying for my class and recommending.
Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for this copy in exchange for an honest review.
Thanks to Macmillan Audio, Macmillan Young Listeners, and NetGalley for the advanced readers audiobook.
Dougie is a dung beetle but he is ashamed of his food of choice. He hides it from his classmates so he can fit in. When the popular bugs find a lunch hiding under a rock with a poop sandwich, poop pudding and poop juice, Dougie claims not to know whose it is. The popular bugs in school are gearing up to make fun of a different bug when Dougie finally finds his voice! He claims the lunch as his own and loudly proclaims that he is a dung beetle! They all soon realize that they are all "weirdos"!
This book had my children laughing so much we had to pause several times! The bug facts throughout the book were awesome. I also loved the SEL themes throughout the book. I winner in my house!! I love some sneaky learning!
Thanks to Macmillan Audio, Macmillan Young Listeners for the ALC!
This book is disgusting and hysterical. My boys (9 and 5) thought it was just the BEST and even I have to admit that while there is a whole lot of poop-eating talk, it’s really funny and there’s a good lesson. The narrator is great and there are sound effects to go along with the whole book; it’s really well done. Clearly a winner with kids… So, here I am, stating I highly recommend a book called “I Eat Poop.”
I had to request this immediately because my kids… 🤣
My daughter said i love it! It’s so funny because they said they breathe out of their butt!
My kids couldn’t stop laughing and neither could i. Too cute.
It definitely made our drive home fun!
I loved the underlying story to this as well. Just be yourself and be kind to others.
Super cute and kid approved!!
This is audiobook perfection! The narrator and all the background sounds really add to the listening experience. The story is super funny and filled with lots of little bug tidbits. I know my boys are absolutely going to love listening while we follow along with the physical copy!!
