I quite enjoyed this book, but what spoiled it for me was the endless in-depth theories about who the culprit was. The unremitting discussions describing the what-ifs, whys and hows began to grate on my nerves and would have been better left to the reader to work out for themselves. It was all a bit long and complex for me I’m afraid but I thank the publishers and NetGalley for the opportunity to read it.
Well then, what can I say about this book other than buy it and read it?
As the pages turn, you think you have latched on to who did what, then a couple pages further on, you change your mind again, and then again.
Got to keep your wits about you, though, as there are numerous characters involved.
Recommend.
Web of Lies is about mother-of-two Louisa, who doesn’t return home from work one night, and her husband raises the alarm. Investigating the workshop where she ran her mail-order business reveals signs she was taken by force, and DCI Warren Jones is put on the case. As Warren and his team dig into the missing woman’s life, a complex network of relationships emerges.
The author describes the clever use of smart devices in this story, which is quite interesting. The characters are definitely flawed and sometimes unlikable. The story moved along quickly, and the clues were interspersed throughout the chapters to keep me guessing.
There was intense drama at the end, which kept me turning the pages into the early hours of the morning. A good story and plot line. I would rate this a 4 out of 5 stars and would recommend this book and author.

Ben and Louisa have been together since University days. They marry and have children and Louisa is on the cusp of realizing her dream of starting her own company when she goes missing.
The lead detective, Warren, finds out that Louisa is not the first woman to go missing in Ben's life, and has to unravel so many lies, relationships and jealousies to find the truth. Through good investigating and discussing theories, the police untangle the intricacies of the relationships of all the people involved.
This is an excellent police procedural. Although it was long, and complex, I enjoyed the book very much. So many twists and turns!
Wow! A lot going on here! What a book! This book had a bit of everything! It had suspense, intrigue, action, murder, mystery, and so many crazy twists and turns and a great who done it! The storyline was very interesting and had me glued to my Kindle! I highly recommend reading this book and series! They're well worth reading! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!
I received a copy of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley.
Louisa goes missing from her unit on a light industrial estate, and Warren's team begin to investigate on the assumption she has been murdered. They discover various problems Louisa was having in her work and personal lives, and then find out that one of her university flatmates went missing a decade ago and has never been found.
This is very much a police procedural, and the reader follows all the theories the detectives pursue, investigate and reject along the way to solving the crime. At times this requires a degree of concentration! I like Warren and his colleagues, although there was perhaps a little less of their personal lives than in previous books in this series. The initial scenes describing Warren's living situation were well done.
I found the resolution to the story and the identity of the murderer logically satisfactory, although it did rely on one of the characters being mysteriously attractive to all the women he came into contact with.
Well-written detective story., The pacing is terrific, the dialogue memorable. Would recommend
Thank you to Paul Gitsham, NetGalley and HQ Digital for the arc of this book
This is one of my favorite police procedural series and read this new instalment as fast as I could.
A complex story, well plotted and full of surprises that kept on the edge even if I guessed the culprit.
It's the murder investigation but it's also a story about relationships, strong feelings and secrets.
The characters are fleshed out and a lot of them are in the grey area, neither saints nor evil masters.
I thoroughly enjoyed it and it's highly recommended.
Highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher for this arc, all opinions are mine
