so. many. questions. answered. !!! omg this was a great sequel to kbb. getting more insight at adrian & isolde’s past was everything i wanted. they’re so beautiful and i’ll never not love them.

isolde is so stunning and so fierce and so bädäss and powerful, i loved it. some of it may have felt a little forced but i think it’ll be better explained and depicted in the next book!

adrian my god why is he so hot. like who allowed this? this man is everything. perfect. we do not deserve him!!! just so addicting and obsessed and feral and i just love it.

this book had heavy moments and despite how difficult they may be at times, they were beautifully written. and the spice, HOT damn, scarlett never lets me down!!! overall such a great follow up and such a great setup for the next book which i can’t wait for! i do think the story suffered some though. like some things were lacking in the plot department, others were trying too hard. it wasn’t what i had expected is all.

thank you so much scarlett, netgalley, tantor audio, and recorded books for the ALC! the audio was amazing. who doesn’t love dual narrators? they did a great job

I like the story. Need to read/listen to the first book first. Important.
And I really liked the narrator. Good voice.
4/5 stars

Thank you to NetGalley for this ALC. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

As second books in the series go, this wasn't too bad. I was once again left on my toes a lot of the time throughout this. However, I don't this it was always one in the best way. I did enjoy the story for the most part but my biggest issue is actualy with Isolde and Adrian themselves. They don't communicate properly, neever actually listen to each other and are always fighting about the same thing. It was exhausting listening to them bicker about the same stuff. I would have preferred other forms of conflict instead of the constant fighting between them too.

One thing I absolutely loved about this was how Isolde championed women reclaiming their power. She was not shy about supporting other women and she was also not shy about being a plus sized woman (as much as character art likes to show other wise) either.

I enjoyed but could have done without the bickering between the two main characters, 3.5 stars.

Thank you to Netgalley and Tantor audio for sending me a copy of this audiobook! All opinions are my own!

This is definitely a book that keeps you on your toes, but I'm not sure it does that in the best way all the time. My biggest complaint is that it felt like there was a lot of Isolde and Adrian fighting about the same thing over and over again. It got to be far too repetitive, and I wanted more conflict than just the two of them fighting.

I do really enjoy the overall plot and the way that Isolde is going on a journey to re-learn who she is and who she wants to be. I love the feminism behind everything and the way that she continually is fighting for women and for their own power.

And then the smut scenes don't hurt too bad either!

All in all, it was a decent second book to a decent series!

This is the second book in the series. I enjoy the authors writing style. This is definitely a spicy series.

This was an epic fantasy romance with list of spice. Inspired by the tale of Tristan and Isolde, this version includes paranormal creatures such as vampires, witches, and shapshifters. It's an entertaining story and I can't wait for the next book in the series.

I didn't enjoy this book as much as I enjoyed the first one. Parts of it felt a little rushed or an easy out to the solution. I did however like the audiobook of this book. The narration was done well and it was very clear and concise. I will most likely read more of the series even though I didn't particularly enjoy this installment.

I enjoyed the first book, but this book was a bit lacking. The plot and the characters weren't very strong.

I struggled through this story. I really enjoyed The Blood King but this on I felt like Isolde lost her take charge nature. I understand it came from the nature of her trauma and the building of her character arc but just found it lacking. It also felt like the intimate moments were just thrown in for no real rhyme or reason. I wanted to enjoy but just felt very forced.

The audio of the narrator was great! It flowed really well and provided new insight to the main characters. I didn’t realize the difference it had until I was listening along. Book two seemed different than book one- I felt a duality in the main character when listening to narrator. Both the narrator and the author did a good job of melding both the future and past Isolde. Scarlett of course was on the mark with the world building! I would recommend this to anyone whom loves fantasy and romance. She did a great job of immersing the reader into the world. I would rate this a five out of five. This book was provided by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

It had little character development and it seemed chaotic and incomplete. It wasn’t bad but I wouldn’t go out of my way to recommend this book to anyone.

Loved the audiobooks! I love the narrators for all of the Scarlett St. Clair books. They do a very nice job. As for the story I will read anything Scarlett writes, and this did not fall short.

Thank you NetGalley, Scarlett St. Clair, and Tantor Audio for an early copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review! I liked this book, but perhaps not as much as the first one. It was harder to get into, but this may be because audiobooks can be more difficult for me sometimes. However, it had some fascinating plot twists and great narrators. I liked seeing more about the world and what Isolde does as queen. Fans of the first one should pick this one up!

The betrayal was real in this book. To be fair, I totally expected one of them to be coming, but the other truly blindsided me, and I am absolutely not okay with it. Emotionally wrecked, and if I'm being completely honest, a little confused by the betrayal of this character. I don't really feel like it fit the character's decision making process very well at all, and the reasoning behind their choices wasn't well explained, so I'm just kind of left hanging with a "wtf just happened?" feeling.
Some of this book flowed really well in terms of character development and plot advancement, and other parts just jumped around so sporadically that I almost felt like I missed something while I was reading. Multiple times I actually went back and re-listened to a section to make sure I wasn't just missing something on my end.
The atmosphere and intrigue were what kept me going through this story. The atmosphere in particular kept me sucked into the story, and made me want to keep reading. The world was easy to imagine and well described. Additionally, the narrator did a wonderful job keeping the flow of the story going and maintaining the atmosphere needed to keep me entertained.

Not quite as good as book one but still very enjoyable!!
I still very much liked both Isolde and Adrian as our main characters however it felt as ther charater developmemnt slowed down a lot for this book.
We got some back story on Isolde, Adrian & even Ravena & Ana which was fun!

Fantastic narrators really brought the story to life!

What you can find in Queen of Myth and Monsters:
- vampires and witches 🧛🧙‍♀️
- Friends turned foes 🗡️
- lots of spicy 🌶️
- redemption arc
- Plot twist

Sorry! Unfortunately this book is not for me. I tried starting it a few times but I just couldn’t get into it. I won’t be posting my dnf review on any platform out of respect for the author. Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for my review.

Pacing dragged for me, the beginning I didn’t connect to any promises on where the story was leading. It felt more like passages in a diary would be. The characters lost their spark together. This felt more of an Isolde story than Adrian and Isolde as the series name would suggest. I get why Isolde might seem like a different character and might influence the different writing style, but Adrian feels as if he is a completely different character to me.

This book was very disappointing after loving the first book. I felt like the characters all lost their development from book 1, and the constant arguing made me question if anyone even liked each other, let alone loved each other. While adoring the romance in book 1, I hated the romance in book 2 and didn’t believe their relationship at all. Very dis functional, and not in a fun way, but in an annoying way. I did like the larger plot around being a witch.

This is the second book in Adrian and Isolde's series. Adrian and Isolde are now married and trying to rule an empire with new monsters appearing and threatening their lives and those of their subjects. Some towns are no longer loyal to their king and question his excessive devotion to Isolde. Adrian and Isolde try to figure out who has betrayed their trust and uncover the source of the deadly mist that is killing people.

As other reviews have stated, the plot is pretty much a repetition of an argument, then make up sex, with some added monsters and witches thrown in. The first book left so many answers about Isolde's past unanswered, and somehow none of them were answered in this book either. Adrian's history was briefly touched on, but nothing explained. This book just felt like random filler for a series to make it longer. Other than one big character experiencing a transition into a new being, nothing much happened. I'm disappointed because I'm a huge fan of the Hades/Persephone Saga but this series just seems very bland.
