I loved this book as much as the first. Amazing plot with added smut?! It’s amazing. Storyline, amazing. My only complaint was that the voice/narrator for Adrian didn’t seem very fitting. But that is so minor and easy to get used to once you listen for a while. Just took me by surprise.
I enjoyed the first book but this one built more on the world. I really enjoy St Clair’s take on vampires and I can’t wait to read more!
I was given an advanced copy of the audiobook through Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.
This story twists so much that it blurs the line between good and evil, you're not quite sure which side anyone is on. The betrayals are surprising and I actually liked this book even more than the first. It is still a lot of spice but there was a much more captivating plot and it kept me hooked throughout.

Wow! Thank you for letting listen to the audiobook NetGalley! Adrianne and Isolde story continues. I thought the first book was great but this one was even better. Would recommend to anyone who is a fan of Scarlett
<i>"Men want power. Women want to live without fear"
"Words do not heal trauma."
"Then tell me how to heal this."
"You don't, you love me through the fear. Even when my doubt hurts."</i>
I've been on a vampire kick lately.
And this did not disappoint.
This is the second book in the series and WOW!
It was a wild ride of emotional and intense situations.
I will say the first book in the series wasn't my favorite. It was a lot of world building, and it was just missing something (for me personally). But I am so glad I picked this one up too! Whatever it was missing, this book found it!
I loved the banter between Adrian and Isolde, and they passion that it brought to their relationship.
I do wish there had been a few more moments of opening up to each other emotionally, but I get why there wasn't. It would have taken away from the fighting/making up.
I do think this book flushed out a lot of what the first book started to.
If you liked book one, or even kind of liked book one. I think you will enjoy this read!
Thanks NetGalley and Scarlett St. Clair for the opportunity to read this book!
I really enjoy everything Scarlett St. Clair writes, and this book wasn't an exception. I really enjoyed the political and magical development of the story, and how we get to learn more about the characters. It really surprised me at some points, and I wonder how is the author going to manage all the plots that have opened in this book. I cannot wait for the conclusion of this trilogy
That being said, I did feel some scenes were too fast-paced for a fantasy book, and didn't enjoy the sex scenes as I did with those in the first book. I had higher expectations for Adrian's POV! I hope his story can have a good ending, because I really enjoy reading him.
And I really like Isolde, I cannot stop enjoying her!
I was completely obsessed with the first book in this series- King of Battle and Blood. It had me captivated. I was so excited for this book, which is the second in the series. However, I am very let down by this. The pacing was so off and choppy, as was the plot. The characters didn’t feel quite the same. It’s like their relationship regressed. I’m giving it two stars because the narrators of the audio book were FANTASTIC. I can confidently say they’re the best narrators I’ve ever heard, especially the one for the fmc’s perspective. But the book as a whole was unimpressive. I will not be continuing with the series.
Queen of Myth & Monsters is the 2nd book from Adrian X Isolde. Take inspiration from Hades and Persephone, dark romance, this story give similar dark romance vibes.
Although I hadn't read first book yet but I still follow the plot easily. Both characters are intens and eager to showing their love into each other. Their conversation are briming with tension and foreplay but I want see deeper trust and relationship. I will consider this as sensual spicey than erotica smut. The hot scenes are quite alot but all of it is short and less descriptive. The plot is well balance between romance, bloodier and rich battle scene and delicious drama . I enjoyed the Vampire witch conflict and I want more.
The narrator team doing great to bring the story alive. The pronounce are clear even with faster speed. Their voice is sultry, mesmerizing and brimming with sexy vibes. I think this building tension is important for romance book.
This book will perfect for reader who want darker fantasy romance with intense couples and twisty kingdom conflicts.
Thank you Netgalley and Tantor Audio from Recorded Books for provided my copy. I enjoyed my time and my thoughts are my own.
It wasn’t too long since I read part one of Isolde and Adrian’s love story, so the story was vibrant in my mind. I had listened to both the audiobook and read it. For this one, I listened purely to the audiobook and devoured it the day I received my arc. The audiobook narrators are easy to listen to and made listening to the novel enjoyable.
The story itself was gripping, with twists and turns in every direction. I absolutely love our main character. While others may call her stubborn, I believe she is powerful and it fits well with the topics carefully places within the series. Touching on topics and folklore with a strong sense of feminism. Even though I found both characters to be frustrating at times, it was just part of the roller coaster that Scarlett put us on.
I enjoyed this book immensely and loved the bonus audio at the end. I will be back for part three the day it comes out!
I enjoyed the first book in this series, but I was a bit worried about how the author would negotiate the balance between Isolde's experiences in this lifetime with her memories of Yesenia's lifetime 200 years ago. All told, I think she handled it well, and I enjoyed watching Adrian and Isolde's sometimes tempestuous relationship develop as they faced down threats and dealt with their own personal transformations.
The performances of the voice actors in the audiobook were excellent, particularly that of the narrator reading Isolde's perspective. Audiobooks can be hit or miss for me, but, in this case, I'm glad that that was the medium through which I experienced this book.
St. Clair has such a beautiful prose, but there is something about the way she tells her stories that the pace is set at slow. I wouldn’t consider it a slow burn but a slow unraveling of events as the story pieces together. That is very obvious in the first book and some how still comes through with this one despite the fact that this one jumps right into the action and waste no time picking us up where we left off. It was a beautiful story and lovely one to watch unfold, but I wasn’t the biggest fan as I wanted to be. I am however a huge St. Clair fan and their prose just solidifies that.

This book felt really sad, and like nothing was going right the whole time. But I did enjoy learning more about the side characters and seeing their personalities and stories.
What I liked:
- The author does a great job of recapping the previous book in the first few chapters, without it feeling too repetitive. I actually did a reread of the first book because I didn’t remember a whole lot, but I think it would’ve been fine if I didn’t.
- I really enjoyed seeing more of the side characters in this book. In particular Killian, which is funny because I said I didn’t want him to get a redemption arc. But here I was, worried about him getting killed. Sometimes it seemed like he was the only person Isolde had left that she could truly trust. 🥹
- I really appreciate that the content warnings and accompanying resources that are listed to help were included in the audiobook. Those things are rarely included in the audiobook and I think they should be, because you’re still consuming the same content as the physical book. ❤️
What I didn’t like:
- Bro I swear Adrian and Isolde are horny at the most inappropriate moments 🥴 And not in a “oh this is kind of kinky” way, but in a “getting it on at a funeral” way. The spicy scenes also started to feel repetitive and stale, and just didn’t flow with the story most of the time. Idk if it’s just me, but one second Adrian & Isolde would be upset about something and then .2 seconds later they’re in the mood to bang. It just wasn’t flowing.
- The magic system was pretty complicated in this one. I thought people had to be born with magic to use it at first, but then later in the book that doesn’t seem to be the case. It’s very confusing combined with the vampire abilities, so hopefully it’s explained better in the next book.
- Adrian and Isolde’s relationship felt like it fizzled out in this book. All of their dialogue was very repetitive and their chemistry felt very one dimensional. Almost kind of insta love?? Which I guess makes sense because of the whole Yesenia thing, but still…
Thank you NatGalley for sending me an arc
This series went downhill for me. I enjoyed the first one, but the second one not so much.
There was no communication between the main two characters. They fought had sex (Poorly written) and then moved on. There are no redeeming qualities of the main king character, and honestly this book made me hate him.
I was so happy to receive the Arc of the Audio book. I definitely preordered the book as well. I loved the first book. Isolde and Adrian have this hot chemistry I wish I had. The parts of them making love was so sexy and it was perfect for the wintertime to cozy up on the couch with a hot cup of tea looking at the christmas tree as I listened to their story.
I really liked the end and how it left us with a cliffhanger to the next book. This series is by far one of my favorite vampire sexy books.
A long awaited continuation of Adrian and Isolde’s story, Queen of Myth and Monsters did not disappoint! Drama, spice, politics, and magic made this book hard to put down!
“Magic will always be dangerous so long as women practice,” she said. “No one wants us to be powerful. They taught us that once, and they will teach us again.”
HUGE thank you to NetGalley and Tantor Audio for the opportunity to listen to and review this audio version of Queen of Myth and Monsters. I've been waiting to read this book since the second I finished King of Battle and Blood. Adrian and Isolde are EVERYTHING.
Here we are pretty much right where we left off at the end of KBB. Things are happening and they are both good and bad. So many things come to light in this book, there are betrayals and tears and frustration but also happiness and love. One of the betrayals (yes, I said one because there are more than one) in this book hurt a lot worse than the others. I definitely saw that last one coming though. Of course now there are also new questions and things that were left untold that we get to wonder how will come out in the next one. I'll be waiting on release day to find out the answers!

Queen of Myth and Monsters picks up where King of Battle and Blood left off. It took me a minute to find my footing, since it had been awhile since I read book one, but I quickly got sucked back into the story. Scarlett St. Clair’s take on vampires and other monsters is different enough to keep her books feeling fresh and interesting. She’s created a complex world with a fleshed out history, full of vampires and witches, monsters and goddesses.
She moves the story along at a fast pace, but even with all the danger and adventure, Adrian and Isolde still find an awful lot of time to “be together,” if you know what I’m saying. This fantasy romance is 100% open door. The doors are flung WIDE OPEN, and it is hot.
If you love fantasy romance or vampires or steamy romances, this series is definitely one you should check out.
Thank you to Bloom Books and Netgalley fro my advance listening copy. The narrators do a fantastic job, and I love the dual narrators for the dual POV.
Where’s the next book!? I need it immediately !
I’m thankful I remembered the first book so well because the story jumps right in,
so I do suggest reading the first one again before reading.
This book has smut, love and betrayal. This book had me questioning Isolde’s love for Adrian so many times. When Isolde said “I love him but I hate him.” It’s definitely shown in this book,
but it made me love their relationship more.
So much happens that leaves you with more questions about the past and the future and scarlet writes both in a way that doesn’t leave me annoyed that I don’t have the answers.
If you couldn’t tell I definitely recommend

I received this as an audio galley to listen to for free in exchange for my honest review. Thank you to NetGalley and Tantor Audio for giving me access.
I won’t lie, when I saw this audiobook on Netgalley, I hadn’t even read King of Battle and Blood yet (but it was definitely on my TBR) So for kicks and giggles, I thought I would request it just to see if I would get approved. Well I did 😅 and immediately binged them both.
This one picks off where book 1 left off. More secrets are uncovered with some shocking reveals about the past — some good, some bad, and some that downright betray…
St. Claire does an amazing job at spinning a tale that keeps pulling you in like a sirens call. I didn’t want to stop listening and need book 3 now. Especially after that 🤯 ending!
Never have I ever enjoyed a vampire + shifter book as I did with Adrian X Isolde.
Thank you so much for letting listen to this audiobook. I am so happy to report that once again I really enjoyed an other Scarlett St. Clair book. As this is the second book I won't spoil the plot here but let me just say: Isolde and Adrien are explosive.
