Thank you to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group – Fair Winds, New Shoe Press for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Nicole Poirier has expanded on her earlier Intermittent Fasting Cookbook, by providing a detailed guide to getting started on the popular diet plan of intermittent fasting. She opens with a thorough break down of how the fasting plan works, why it is good for the body, good nutritional items to eat including macro and micronutrient guides. One of my favorite additions was the FAQs section that she added that helps guide a beginner through the nuances. The cookbook portion is a little more basic with the traditional breakouts of breakfast, lunches, snacks and dinners. She did add a nice vegetarian section. The recipes are simple and easy to follow. She has also included nutritional information for each. Most options have a photo attached which look appetizing. There is not a lot of options included for varying the recipes. Overall this is a great beginners look into intermittent fasting and I have added a few or the recipes to my rotation.

5.0 out of 5 stars 2023 New Year! New Me?!
Reviewed in the United States on January 10, 2023

This book is right on time. I've been thinking about trying Intermittent Fasting (IF) for a while, so I was excited to get my hands on this book. The ins and outs of IF is all new to me and this author provides excellent groundwork for IF success. The recipes sounds tasty, the ingredients are easily found at the supermarket and the photos are gorgeous. I'm excited to incorporate the information the author provides to get successfully started.

I received a free copy of this book via Netgalley I am voluntarily leaving a review.

This book was very informative for beginners to intermittent fasting. The book offers a bunch of tools such as the micronutrient quick guide, and even a guide for anti-inflammatory foods. The recipes were well written, and easy to follow and also included the equipment needed for each recipe. All in all, a great book!

Delightfully comprehensive, beyond just recipes.

I appreciated the definitions and descriptions of intermittent fasting along with the types and patterns. Great FAQ section which contained really great information on how the body works internally when you fast and how to chose the right fast for you.

Pictures are colorful, recipes are really great, nothing that takes too long to make.

I have been curious about intermittent fasting this year and this book was a good introduction to the idea. It gave the background of why you'd want to try this diet plan, what it does for you and how to do it. There are of course recipes that work well with the diet as well. I didn't really find many recipes that I was interested in making, but I suppose that is standard for many recipe books. I did however decide to try the "Dark Chocolate Almond Power Balls" which are a snack/appetizer that is recommended by the author. I didn't see a serving size so maybe I'd make them smaller if they are actually 320 calories each, but they sounded interesting. I also was interested in trying the pumpkin tagine. I'd definitely recommend this book if you are interested in this dieting technique and/or looking for some sample recipes to start with.

I received an advanced copy and am offering an honest review.

This is a great introduction to intermittent fasting, with everything a beginner needs to start their journey - including those all important recipes to help inspire!

It usefully starts with a recce of all the types of fasting - daily fasts with restricted eating windows, alternate day type fasting patterns and the likes.

A frequently asked questions section covers lots of common issues, including who should avoid fasting, and what to expect. for those embarking on this lifestyle change.

There is a strong emphasis on quality nutrition, that I feel make this a very decent cookery book even for folk who aren't intending to fast!

One things that did surprise me was that the recipes didn't feel particularly low calorie, I think I expected this as I had expected a focus on alternate day fasts which would incorporate some low calories days. This isn't a criticism, just an observation (and for sure I will incorporate some of the low calorie dip recipes into my calorie minimising days!). Usefully, for those of us who calorie count, full nutritional information is given.

I found it very helpful that measurements for recipes are given in cups and in grams (so often overlooked, but so useful for us Brits!)

As regards the recipes, vegans are catered for. The 'filling snacks' section kicks things of, and some of the dips/hummus recipes look simply devine! In addition to snacks, sections on: breakfasts, lunches - vegetarian mains, poultry mains, beef, pork & lamb mains, fish mains and sides all feature, many of which I will be tempted to create!.

Overall this is a great resource!

My thanks to NetGalley, author and publisher for the opportunity to review this book in exchange for an advance copy.

I am a seasoned intermittent and long term faster. I have read almost every book on the subject and thought that reading this book would not offer any other information that I had not already heard or read about. I was wrong! I was pleasantly surprised by the wealth of additional information. The author delves into the nutritional science which is just as important when using fasting for the health benefits. I am vegan, but the recipe section was an added bonus. The recipes are nutritious, simple and could be easily adapted to either a vegetarian or vegan lifestyle, although there were a few plant based options. I highly recommend this book not only to the beginner but to anyone who fasts on a regular basis. Thank you for the opportunity to view and rate this book.

A great way to be introduced into intermittent fasting, the right way, with some really yummy recipes to boot that you would love even if you don't fast at all.

“Intermittent Fasting for Beginners” is fascinating - even for me who is not a novice. This is such a treasure trove of information presented in an easy-to-read format with just the right number of charts, also including notes and bibliography for those us interested in that sort of thing. The first four chapters are this - an explanation of the many types of intermittent fasting, the hows to and how not tos, and giving credit to previous authors where such credit is due. No one type of fasting is emphasized or promoted; rather, the author presents pros and cons so that each of us may decide for ourselves.

Then comes the fun: Chapter 5, Recipes, divided into ten sections starting with snacks (yes! thank you!) to breakfast and then on in traditional fashion through dinner (but no dessert). And let’s talk about the recipes themselves - I am blown away by the diversity of flavours presented! There is truly something for everyone for every part of every feast. Her Chilled Avocado Soup? Creamy and luscious and a breeze to make. Next will be the Orange Chicken with Greens “On Fire”, as I crave spicy food all the time. The recipes are so good that I will continue to use these during the times I am not IF, as well. Highly, highly recommended.

I thank the publisher and NetGalley for an advance copy of this marvelous book for review.

I knew very little about intermittent fasting prior to reading this book. I’ve had a few friends that tried it and said they had good results. I certainly feel it’s worth trying.
The first part of the book talks about reasons why to do it and the kind of results you will likely get from doing it. The book also gives you ideas of what foods are the “best” for you and what types will hinder the results you want. But they say no food is off limits, just not recommended. I really like the idea of fasting and probably will give it a try.
The recipes are really creative and there is one for a spinach lemon zoodle dish that looks amazing. I know I’ll be making that one.

Intermittent Fasting Recipes for Beginners: Super Simple Recipes for All Fasting Intervals is a campion recipe and information book for anyone undertaking or wanting to try intermittent fasting. Some recipes are fairly simple but there are quite a few that are definitely not super simple. The variety is good and they are all very appetising recipes. The book would definitely be a good guide for anyone interested in giving IF a go, or someone looking for a few more recipe ideas to boost their nutrition and meal variety.

This is a great book and a helpful tool to get beginners started on intermittent fasting done the right way. I will definitely be using this to start my journey into 2023!

As someone who usually IF daily, I went into this book with high hopes. The recipes look good! I believe that incorporating intermittent fasting into your life, is the key to healthy nutrition. The majority of the recipes are easy to follow, but there are a few that are extremely detailed. I can imagine a person that is just starting their IF journey to be overwhelmed with the book. Overall, I would say this is a book full of information (I especially enjoyed the vitamin section and the information about macronutrients).

I consider this a good guide to show people that IF is possible and what the best meal ideas are for those looking to break their fasts.

Thank you so much to NetGalley for providing me with a complimentary digital ARC for Intermittent Fasting: Recipes for Beginners coming out January 10, 2023. The honest opinions expressed in this review are my own.

With your personalized IF plan in place, Nicole teaches you how to obtain the most nutrition in the reduced amount of time you have with colorful, natural, whole food ingredients, highlighting anti-inflammatory and appetite-suppressing choices. Over 50 delicious, superfood-based recipes transform your eating window into a soul-inspiring feast. They include:

* Dark Chocolate Almond Power Balls
* Bacon, Basil, and Tomato Quiche-Lettes
* Red Lentil, Vegetable, and Coconut Soup
* Baby Spinach, Blueberry, and Goat Cheese Salad with Crispy Tempeh
* Barbecue Chicken and Charred Onion Personal Pizzas
* Quick Korean-Flavored Marinated Beef & Kimchi Kale Fried Rice
* Curry Vegetables with Dhal & Crunchy Almond Topping

I’ve studied some things about intermittent fasting and I enjoy cooking. I love to get cookbooks to improve my cooking skills. I found the information about fasting useful. There were some methods I didn’t quite understand or agree with. The book talks about a 36-hour fast, which seems extreme.

As for the recipes, I was thinking they would be more simple. The green curry soup sounds good, but uses a lot of ingredients. The Baby Spinach, Blueberry and Goat Cheese salad with Crispy Tempeh sounds awesome, but again it has a lot of ingredients. It just didn’t seem like some of the recipes were for beginners who are starting out on an intermittent fasting diet. I do think the recipes are good and healthy, but I was just expecting something more simple.

I would recommend this to anyone who already has some knowledge about intermittent fasting and cooking.

Nothing new, nothing revolutionary - another book out of thousands on the topic. I did not find any new recipes which weren't published in other books and on the internet websites.

Intermittent fasting seemed to be the thing this year and I am sure with all the new year’s resolutions; this will be a popular one for people trying to get healthy.

I’ve done intermittent fasting for the last three years. It doesn’t help me so much with losing weight as it makes me feel better overall and it fits into my lifestyle.

The recipes included in this cookbook are great for providing you with the nutrients you need when you do break your fast so that you are eating healthy and not depriving yourself or your body of what it needs. If you're also on keto, there are recipes that are included to stay within those parameters as well.

I really felt that the author did a great job of explaining the benefits of intermittent fasting and providing the different types you can do. This is a great book for a beginner or someone like me who just wants a refresher and some new recipes to try.
