Although the book is about a sad moment in some people's lives, I found the book very comforting to read. I felt a camaraderie with the people in the book that wrote wonderful things about their pets that they loved and missed. It is very comforting to know that I not the only one who misses the animals in their life, but I would rather be a little sad then not ever knowing such wonderful beings.

This book is wonderful for any animal person but especially for those who miss their pets and have some time to not feel so raw about the lost.

I want to thank Simon & Schuster and NetGalley for a wonderful book of memories

I’m not one who seeks out a sad book. And I am especially not one who can read a sad book about animals. I’m an empath and an animal lover. There’s not much more upsetting than thinking about losing a pet. So, normally I can’t picture picking up a book on the subject.

Do I feel less sad after reading this? No. But I feel understood. I think that’s the whole point of this book. The entire book is about people whose pets really, truly mattered to them. They were family members and best friends. They were confidants. They made people laugh and love. They made life better. During the happy parts of this book, I laughed. During the sad parts, I cried. I’m lucky to have people in my life who understand how deeply the loss of a pet is felt. Not everyone is lucky enough to have that compassion.

If you’re going through this and it would help to see decades' worth of people feeling the way you feel, this book will be a help to you I think. Read it with a box of tissues handy.

I think Jackson Galaxy’s quotes were most reflective of my feelings but I saw myself in all of these quotes.

Losing a pet is hard. Grieving the loss of pet is just as hard too. The bond between a pet and owner is unlike any other relationship. This book was a helpful guide and comforting to read at a time of a recent pet loss of my cat of 22 years. This book had wonderful quotations of memories and thoughtful moments people had with their pets. It included some famous celebrities and them talking about their pet. I loved hearing their stories of their pet and the special memories they remembered. It helped me in reflecting on my own personal life journey. Beautifully written this book for pet lovers. Many thanks to Simon & Schuster and NetGalley for the eARC. All opinions expressed in this review are my own.

This was so wonderful. I have lost 3 dogs in 3 years and each and everyone has broken my heart a little more with each passing. I highly recommend it. I'm so glad to know that I am not alone in this and it effects each and every pet owner out there.
I just reviewed The Book of Pet Love and Loss by Sara Bader. #NetGalley

I am very reluctant to leave this review. I do appreciate the author writing this. Even though some of the quotes touched my heart, I was just disappointed in the book. I thank NetGalley and Simon & Schuster for the advance read.

Having just lost my almost 17 year old cat, I knew that this would be a tough, but helpful read. Although it was difficult, it was a comforting read to learn about other people's loves and losses, and how important their pet was to their life. Well-written, and deeply comforting for me.

Thank you Netgalley and Simon & Schuster for giving me the opportunity to read and review this ARC!

There’s not much more upsetting than thinking about losing a pet. So, normally I can’t picture picking up a book on the subject. But I have lost two this year. I have lost my Divya, our bottle baby, only months ago. I have lost my JB just days ago. I am grieving. This book appeared on Netgalley this morning and it felt like a sign, maybe this book will help.

I got to read an early ebook edition from NetGalley. I started reading this and finished it all within a couple hours of starting.

The Book of Pet Love and Loss was a tear-jerker! I recently lost my dog and this book was a comfort to read. I liked the interspersed stories of various authors and famous people and their pets. It was really nice to read various quotes about how important pets are in our lives. I appreciated the wisdom of how to deal with grief and knowing when you can have another pet in your life. It brought a lot of solace to me to read, to know I'm not alone.
