Book 2 in the series wasn't my favorite but this one totally brought back the fun and mystery that book 1 had. I loved all the tie ins and seeing the Bayview crew back together again. McManus is an auto buy already, can't wait to see what's next!

I love that Karen McManus takes us back to Bayview and that we get to spend more time with these great characters! This is a great, tight little mystery that is typical McManus and will please her fans. In my ELA classroom I keep a ready stock of her novels and I have students that wait anxiously for the next one and beg me to order as soon as it comes out! I met Karen McManus in 2018 when we both attended the Louisiana Book Festival authors party and she was as lovely and gracious as you might expect. I am happy to highly recommend this book.

If you've never read her previous books, you are okay there, too. She gives you enough backstory where you are never lost; that being said, I do suggest you read at least One of Us is Lying in companion with this one. You'll want to, trust me! Great books, all!

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.

Finding out there was going to be a third in the series made me scream for joy. This one picks up about a year after the second book and most of our favorite characters are back. Just when we think maybe we. An trust those around us or that we are done with jake we are whipped back into a tail spin of lies and danger. Love love love.

It is hard to review this book. There are very few times as a librarian where you do not think that your point of view on a book for teenagers is worthless, but this is one of those times. You already know that you are going to love this book, you already know (in general) what is going to happen and you already know if you are going to read it. It is the third book in one of the hottest series in the last five years and it just keeps getting hotter. McManus delivers on all front in the this book of One of Us., The whole crew (and yes, I do mean crew) is back in this book and involved in another game as the group find out that Jared is getting another trial and is released (but with an ankle monitor). Coincidence? Could it be Jared is back up to his old tricks? The crew seem to think so, especially as people disappear, more signs appear and tensions rise.

While it wasn't necessarily "new" or "different" than the others in the series, I still really enjoyed reuniting with the characters from the "One of Us is Lying" series. There were a few surprises and some great character arcs that kept the story moving.

Just when you thought it was safe to return to Bayview . . . . It's hard to say it's fun to return to Bayview because someone here is poisoned, kidnapped, and/or murdered. But with the Murder Club on the scene, it's only a matter of time before the masks are removed and the culprits are revealed. This time, a billboard is hacked revealing a new revenge game. It's up to the Scooby Gang to find out who, what, where, when, and why before too many people get hurt. Readers of the first two books will definitely want to see how the story ends. I would not recommend jumping into this book without reading One Of Us is Lying and One of Us is Back. Overall, recommend Karen McManus to readers who enjoy a good thriller!

#netgalleyarc Ohhh this was SO good! It was the perfect marriage of characters from the first two and a great addition to the series. The book does bounce character points of view for each chapter so it’s important to pay attention to the name listed but otherwise I thought the book was great. Not cheesie, not drawn out, a great mystery. Will definitely be purchasing this for my HS library.

Great way to wrap up the One of Us… series by Karen M. McManus! I thought it was a nice conclusion and I was happy with the way everything ended.

The beginning was a little overwhelming because I had a hard time remembering who some of the characters were. It also felt like a lot of showing not telling to remind the reader of everything that happened. About halfway in is where I got fully engaged in the story.

One minor detail that irked me is that a character goes missing and their friends are trying to call their phone and it goes straight to voicemail and the friends say the missing person’s phone is off, but then the phone is found and it’s opened on a text message. It just doesn’t add up.

Overall, this was a solid book and a satisfying conclusion to the trilogy. 4/5 stars from me for One of Us is Back by Karen M. McManus. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this title.

I really enjoyed this book. Karen M. McManus weaved the 1st two books together perfectly!!! This is a great recommend for middle school and high school age children, who especially love mysteries, thrillers and true crime topics. This book as revenge, murder and mystery with the whole Bayview Crew we have grown to know and LOVE. Highly recommend this whole series. Thank you to NetGalley, Random House and Karen M. McManus for allowing me to read the ARC.

I've loved Karen McManus, but honestly, this was not the one for me. I ended up not finishing this one, despite looking forward to it. When it comes to sequels for books that don't need sequels, I usually appreciate what they do, even if I don't think it's necessary, and this one was one of the most unnecessary sequels in my opinion.

I think for me, there were too many characters. I remember "One of Us is Lying" so well, but have little recollection of "One of Us is Next." This book combines the characters of the two books, and I just couldn't keep them straight. The plot is so focused on the personal lives and connections of everyone, which ties in more characters, and was more for my tired little brain to comprehend. Maybe if I went back and reread OOUIN and tried again, I'd enjoy it more. Sadly, this McManus title wasn't for me.

Thanks, NetGalley!

This was the perfect conclusion to the Bayview storyline & I absolutely love it just as much as I did the previous two.

Karen M. McManus did an amazing job sticking with a consistent pacing & formula for her third book in the series, but still managed to deliver twists and turns & reveal new character struggles. I loved the combination of the two sets of friend groups fighting one mysterious enemy in this book. It gave me a lot of A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder Book 3 (As Good As Dead) vibes, but with an original plot of its own.

This one definitely had some darker moments than its previous two but it was offset really well by the banter between the friend groups that we’ve come to know and love.

Honestly, this is a perfect addition to the series & I wouldn’t have changed a thing!

I really liked this book it was a quick read and i loved seeing all the characters from the first two books come together to solve this new mystery. It was a great end to the series.

Unfortunately, I did not enjoy the third book in this series. The cast of characters has gotten WAY too big, and with too many intricacies, I couldn't remember who was who.
However, I will purchase multiple copies for my high school library, and it will not stay on the shelves.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ One of Us is Back by Karen McManus

This is the 3rd book in the One of Us is Lying series.

One of Us is Lying is one of my favorite 😉 YA mystery books. I am a high school librarian and recommend this book constantly! And my students love it! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I describe it as a Breakfast Club whodunit and the kids grab it from my hands! Don’t like to read--take this book; love to read--take this book.

The second book in the series was just ⭐️⭐️ for me while this one, the third in the series ramped it up just a bit and received ⭐️⭐️⭐️.

I completely understand that since One of Us is Lying was such a huge hit, even receiving a Peacock series 🤩, that McManus wanted to continue riding on its coattails--I would do the same! I just think she captured the whole story in the first book which is why it was so great. It wasn’t meant to be a trilogy. I don’t regret reading it--it was okay. It’s just that the continuation is taking away from the greatness of the first book, giving these characters just too much conflict, strife, struggle, etc. It’s just too much! And I’m getting tired of the “dumb” police and their inability to do anything.

There are new twists and turns, “secrets” revealed, dead bodies piled up, and explanations from the past--but none of it was really new to the mystery genre and was pretty predictable. Unfortunately, this is just an average book. But having said that I would still say it’s a must-read if you like the series.

Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for providing me with an ARC of this title for review.

I loved this book and the series! Karen McManus never disappoints. This is the third in the series, and while a reader might be able to read and enjoy the book before reading books one and two, it would probably lead to some confusion. I had read and loved both of the previous books in the series, so it felt like coming back home to Bayview. Because this was the third book, there were a lot of characters to keep straight. As always, McManus creates a story with several twists and turns.

This is another amazing Karen McManus book. She writes so well and keeps the reader engaged in her story. Even though I know a plot twist is coming, I am always pleasantly surprised.

Karen McManus never fails to impress me! In the latest installment of the One of Us is Lying series she continues to weave a twisty and turny plot leaving readers guessing until the final chapters. This is a must for all Teen collections!

Karen Mc Manus does it again!

We return to Bayview where everyone from the two previous books is home for the summer. Everyone is in good spirits, except Phoebe, who is still reeling from the ending of the last book. But then some horrible news hits the crew, and the anonymous threats start up again. With all the characters I loved from before, signature twists and turns that kept me guessing, and an ending I didn’t see coming, I was hooked from the first page and barely put this one down.

The cast of characters was pretty big so I recommended reviewing the first two books before hopping in. And I was a bit bummed not to get a Bronwyn POV since I love her. But I understand why we got the POVs we did. I love Nate, Addy, and hot-mess Phoebe. I think my favorite part was the friendship between Addy and Nate. I’m sad their story is over (is it over???) but I feel like the ending was super satisfying. 5 stars!!!

Karen McManus has done it again! The Bayview crew is back at it and the twists and turns are better than ever. This is my favorite book of the series, by far! I love how the characters are consistent and there is a ton of mystery and secrets in this story. One of the characters thought their 6 year old secret was safe and gone forever with the death of Simon, but little did they know was that Simon was one step ahead of them. This was a 5 star read for me. Thanks to Netgalley and Random House Children's Publishing for allowing me to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This third (and final) book in the series is a bit less engaging than the previous two (which I very much enjoyed). This book cleverly combines the two different ensemble casts from those books so that they are all working together to solve one plot (a plot which also builds upon the combined series of events that happened in the previous two novels). This does not work as well as it should, unfortunately.

The problem is that we now have an extremely large ensemble cast, so many major characters from the past books have almost no presence in this novel. The characters that are featured (mostly Phoebe, Addy, and Nate) all fail to have distinguishable voices. Addy (from the first book) and Phoebe (from the second book) have such similar personalities that it's often hard to differentiate which one of them is talking if you aren't paying attention. A gentler, more mature Nate makes sense now, so that aspect of character development is a nice touch; but unfortunately even Nate almost reads the same as Addy sometimes.

Another problem is that quite a few years have passed since the release of the first two novels, but book tends to assume we remember all the details without a lot of backstory. It took a while to remember who was who and what had happened before, so it was hard to follow along for a while.

The plot itself and the reveal of who the villain is (& the motive) also didn't tie in as much as I'd have preferred, but some readers may disagree. Overall, this was a rather slow read for me, so I wouldn't consider this a "necessary" read for fans of the first two books.
Thank you to Netgalley, and to the publisher, for an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.
