I was in tears laughing within the first few chapters, and it only got better. Business or Pleasure did an amazing job of representing mental health and culture in a big way.
I was not prepared for the plot twist in what I thought was going to be a standard formula rom-com. Typically, the sex in any romance novel is the best sex of the heroine's life. I was blown away by how sex positive this romance was, and lead by the heroine no less. Chandler showcases how empowered and comfortable women can be with their bodies and sex, while balancing vulnerability and passed experiences. This book is steamy and connection that grows between Chandler and Finn only adds to the spice.
The comic con created a great backdrop to the story, and pop culture references were great for me as a person who watched Vampire Diaries, Supernatural, and Teen Wolf just like Chandler's cousin Noeme.
Not to say anything wild, but I think this might be my favorite romance from Rachel Lynn Solomon!!!
This book was everything I wanted and more. Mutual pining, character development, chemistry, and lots of spice. Like, SO MUCH SPICE. If you're looking for a story with lots of tension and two characters who will make you sweat, this is the one for you. Take that and add the famous X not famous trope, smut lessons, and lots of writing talk and you have Business or Pleasure.
This book was an utter delight. I loved how real and full this world felt. The side characters (along with the main ones, of course) were fantastic and I loved the made up in universe TV show that Finn was in. It was such a fun addition and really reminded me of The Vampire Diaries and nostalgic 2010s teen shows. Oh! and there was such a fun little cameo about some of Solomon's past characters which I loved!
Overall I would highllllyyyy recommend this book! It was such a fun and fast read.
Thank you so much to the publisher for providing me with an e-ARC :)
Business or Pleasure was another sweet read from Rachel Lynn Solomon. I really enjoyed both of the main characters and thought the overall plot was very cute (and incredibly sex positive.) It was really refreshing to read a romance without crazy drama, instead it was about these characters really getting to know each other in a healthy way. Already looking forward to Solomon’s next book.
I thought this was such a great read. I loved the exploration of mental health and a sex positive relationship. I loved seeing the two MCs come together.
Chandler Cohen has always wanted to publish a book of her own, but right now she makes a living as a ghostwriter for celebs and influencers. The books aren't all that interesting, and when she isn't recognized by an author she's worked with Chandler's self-worth takes a hit. Drowning her sorrows in a bar Chandler connects with a charming man and decides to do something out of the ordinary, and has a one night stand. To add insult to injury, the sex is awful. Her next book? Ghostwriting for actor Finn Walsh whose bed she just left, feeling less than satisfied.
The plot is all over the place. Chandler's issues are plentiful; she has parents she needs to take care of, a guy she'd slept with who friend-zoned her, she's teaching Finn how to be better in bed, and a desire to write her own book but won't take the risk. That's a lot for one character. Finn's issues are equally numerous. The characters didn't have much chemistry in the beginning and never developed any as the story went on. I get it was supposed to be all sex positive but it was all kinds of awkward, and became kind of a slog to get through. I found myself bored halfway through with no hope of feeling a connection to Chandler and Finn.
Thank you, Netgalley, for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Rachel’s done it again. I loved this book so much. I thought the intimacy was well written and intentional. Watching these two fall for each other and allow themselves to be vulnerable was heartwarming
This is definitely Rachel Lynn Solomon's spiciest book and I loved it!
This book follows Chandler who is ghostwriting a book for Finn, who also happens to be her disastrous one-night-stand. She takes the job of writing his memoir while also teaching him how to be a better partner in bed.
There are so many sweet moments paired with some hot spicy scenes. More than anything, I loved how sex-positive this book and how Chandler took control of her body and her pleasure.
Set against a nerdy backdrop, this book is just what you need!
This book was just so great and I was hooked from the very beginning which is the hardest thing for me in books. The plot felt unique and fresh, the Jewish rep and mental health rep felt like real wins to read about in a big published book. I cannot wait for everyone to get their hands on this one. It felt like Solomon's best work yet!
I really enjoyed this book. I wanted to keep reading from the very beginning. It felt refreshing that Finn and Chandler didn't have a perfect first night together. I loved the sex-positive conversations and how their relationship was so much deeper than just a physical connection. This was the first Rachel Lynn Solomon book that I've read and I know I'll read more.
I loved this book so much! I saved this to listen to on my drive back home from the beach and it was pure joy. I literally had a smile on my face the whole time while reading! I loved Weather Girl, but this has now become my new fave by Rachel.
After an awkward one night stand between Chandler and Finn turns out to be Chandler’s new ghost writing client, she’s determined to keep things professional.
I loved their relationship, and thought they were such relatable characters, and couldn’t get enough of this duo! The “teach me” sex lessons, the spice, the chemistry and communication, but also the discussion of deeper topics and inclusion of a great Jewish rep and mental health rep made this such a fantastic read.

Great romance story with wit an humor! Chandler Cohen is a ghost writer and gets more than she bargained for after a not so great one night stand. He turns out to be an actor she was hired to write for. When he finds out she wasn't satisfied after their night together the pair strike up a deal that ends up being more than just business. This was my first book by Solomon and it definitely wont' be my last!
This was a very fun and sexually tension driven book that I ATE up!!! Chandler and Finn were such a cute couple and I adored the unique plot and the spicy coaching lessons chandler gave to Finn. Finn was precious and the sweetest and shy MMC. I liked how Chandler stood up for herself and didn't put down other people in the process. The growth in these characters was so great to read about.
There were a few plot lines I didn’t love and the third act conflict at the end felt rushed. BUT- I still really enjoyed this. The side characters were so fun and I need chandler bestie Noemie to get a book!!
Thanks Berkley for the ARC! So thankful for this opportunity!
I really enjoyed this book, but I had a bit of a tough time with the audiobook only because sex is such a prevalent topic in this book. I loved the relationship. I'm obsessed with the fact that there wasn't really a third act break up. I loved the Jewish representation. Truly, I don't have anything negative to say about this book.
With its unique premise, laugh out loud humor, and delightful romance, this is the kind of book that will quickly join books such as Lyssa Kay Adams's The Bromance Book Club as ones that I want to force the men in my life to read. Not to mention that every book I've read by Rachel Lynn Solomon has hooked me from the first page, and this one is no different. I found Chandler to be such a relatable main character, with her uncertainty about her career choice paired with her fear to pursue her dreams. Finn, on the other hand, was the perfect cinnamon roll book boyfriend. Their first night together was filled with so many mishaps and fumbles that I was simultaneously laughing and cringing in the best way. Overall, I highly recommend this romantic comedy, even for people who are not typically romance readers.
By far the spiciest book from RLS!! Whew, what a hot one. I really liked our two characters — a ghostwriter for celebrities who's been told she's too much of a "relationship girl" and a celeb dude who's.... bad in bed. (Don't ask how she knows it, but remarkably, she can help.) What a fun setup — I love a celeb romance trope. SO fun. SO unrealistic (but we want it to be OF COURSE.)
Loved this one! It was soo good and so underrated! I am obsessed. Def one I will be recommending to everyone.
This was a delightful read!! Chandler and Finn hook up for a night of unremarkable sex, Chandler sneaks out ready to pretend this night never happened. Chandler is a ghost writer and has an amazing opportunity to write the biography for an actor , Finn Walsh, who starred in an extremely popular TV show. Chandler never watched the show but is aware of its popularity. As she walks in to meet Finn and his agent, Chandler’s eyes rest on the disastrous sex partner she had the night before. Unfortunately it also happens to be Finn. Awkward!! They agree to work professionally and become friendly. Chandler gives Finn some unpleasant feedback and they strike a deal. While they are on the road writing the book, Chandler agrees to help Finn by giving him some pointers in the bedroom.
I really enjoyed the relationship between Chandler and Finn. It was refreshing to see two people able to have such a healthy and honest relationship. That is a rare trait in most Contemporary Romances. This had so much humor, heart and a focus on self care. It was an unexpected pleasure to read, There are some serious subjects as well as some spicy chapters!! Unlike her previous novels I felt this book was more well rounded and had better character development.

This one follows a ghostwriter, Chandler Cohen, and actor, Finn Walsh. After fun night, that turns out to be an awkward one night stand. It’s believed somethings are better left in the past. Until you run into that person again, when you’re supposed to be their ghostwriter.
This story had me hooked from the start, I love how it took off and how the story progressed.
If you’re a fan of communication in RomComs this is a great choice! I have been really loving Rachel’s novels, her characters a down to earth and she usually has some kind of mental health rep included, which I love.
The narrator did a great job, but I will say if sex talk makes you uncomfortable you may want to read this one rather than less. If you like me and it doesn’t bother you one bit 😅 the audio is a great choice.

Another fantastic read from Rachel Lynn Solomon. I'm pretty sure at this point this is an auto-buy author for me. I absolutely adored this book. I loved the chemistry between Chandler and Finn. I won't lie I got a little bit of secondhand embarrassment at a few points when some truths came out. I also loved the openness between these two, we got to see a very vulnerable side that made me love these characters even more. I will also admit this had me reaching for ice water multiple times, the steam coming from this book was "chef's kiss". Overall, I loved it and recommend this to anyone interested. I think I'm going to go reread it now!
Business or Pleasure by Rachel Lynn Solomon 🛏️
I really wanted to like this book. I had read Rachel's previous two books and they were both 3 star reads, but after reading the blurb for this one I felt like it had the potential to be a 4 or 5 star read. It did not work out for me though. There were just two many little things that kept piling up on each other that ruined my enjoyment of the book.
The whole premise of the book is Chandler and Finn having a one night stand which ends up being the worst sex of her life. She doesn't expect to see him again but of course they end up meeting again and end up traveling with each other after she agrees to ghost write his book. At first they decide to ignore and not speak about their one night stand, but it gets brought up and Chandler tells him that he wasn't good. This leads to them having "lessons" together so he can be better at sex. These "lessons" were so weird though because Chandler did next to no teaching and Finn was just magically good a dirty talking and everything else.
The number of times both of them blushed or cheeks turned throughout the book became ridiculous. If they are supposed to be having these sex lessons I feel like they should be able to have mature conversations about it without getting embarrassed. While there was spice, it was there without it being explicit. It's open door but used more flowery, descriptive language.
The book also felt like it was trying too hard to be relatable. Lots of current event references and moments that just made me cringe.
Also, I was obsessed with Teen Wolf when it was on TV so I thought I was going to love part of Finn's storyline being that he used to star in this werewolf show. However, I’m pretty sure Finn was supposed to be a knock off Stiles Stilinski but in the worst way. Sorry bud, you can't compare to Stiles or Dylan O'Brien.
Rachel's books aren't for me unfortunately. I do seem to be in the minority, so if you are interested in this and enjoyed her other books still give this one a read!
