A truly unique and fun book, with great communication and relationship development, even if parts were hard to read because I had so much second hand embarrassment. Chandler is a ghostwriter who feels stuck, but after a lackluster one night stand, she's assigned to write a book for beloved former teen paranormal star, Finn Walsh - who happens to be her disastrous one night stand. After the truth about their night together comes to light, Chandler offers to help Finn become better in bed, and obviously they fall for each other along the way. I was a little confused about what Chandler was getting out of their arrangement, but she seemed happy so rock on. I loved the open conversations about sex, intimacy, expectations, and relationships in general. Another solid book from Rachel Lynn Solomon.
I liked Ex Talk, but not really Weather Girl, so I was hoping this would be the tie-breaker for me and Solomon!
Guess what? Like won over dislike here and I'm happy about it. Was this the best book I've read this year? nah. But, it was solid. As always Solomon does a fantastic job giving us a beautiful Jewish rep.
Also, I think I need more books with auburn haired main men!
I loved the sex positivism and the steamy stuff.
This did drag a bit for me in the middle, but it was necessary.
Overall, I loved it. I think much was done that was great!
Thank you so much to the publisher and Netgalley for the advanced readers copy! All thoughts are my own completely.
Thank you to NetGalley and Berkley Publishing Group for providing the ARC.
So, I am a bit obsessed with Rachel Lynn Solomon. Because of that, I requested this book without reading what the synopsis was or anything about it. And if someone had told me that I was getting a delightful sex tutor rom com, I'm not sure I would have believed you. But oh boy am I so glad that I picked this book up.
After a disastrous one night stand (and I mean absolutely awful) the last person that Chandler Cohen expects to run into is the man she snuck out on. But here he is requesting (or begging) she be the one to write his memoir. And when the conversation turns back to that ill fated night, Finn Walsh learns some devastating news: he's terrible in bed. So what does any good Samaritan do? She offers up her expertise in the form of practical sex lessons.
I've always found the sex tutor trope a bit weird, if I'm honest, only because people seem to be incapable of doing it without it coming across as creepy or inorganic. Solomon does a fantastic job at not only building up the trust between these two characters before there's ever a conversation about it, but also stresses the absolute importance of communication. And it results in some of the best (and hottest) romantic scenes I've ever read.
The story surrounding it as well is just as good. You have two characters stuck in a career that they feel is stagnating with no where else to go. They are vulnerable right from the get go, and they can see each other reflected in everything they do. There is power in this level of openness and it absolutely makes this book just that much better to read.
Absolutely wonderful book and Rachel Lynn Solomon is an insta buy author for me.
Finn Walsh, TV heart throb, is writing his memoir, and he's just hired Chandler Cohen to be his ghost writer. The only problem, these two met at a bar and took their business back to his hotel for a night of pleasure. For Chandler, this romp in the sheets was some of the worst sex she's ever had. Finn was a fish floundering in water or in lube in this case.
Chandler finally confesses that he performed less than stellar, and together they agree she'll be his sexual tutor. Together, they embark on a sexcapade across the country as he makes appearances at Comic Cons for his TV show.
Needless to say, I might've been blushing with each lesson. This book was a celebrity, workplace romance, forced proximity and some damn sexy moments. Business or Pleasure is simply fantastic!!!
Thank you Berkley Publishing Group for the complimentary copy.
Where do I even begin? First off, thank you so much to Netgalley and Berkley Publishing Group for sending me an e-arc for my honest opinions!
A quick recap before the review:
Chandler Cohen is a ghostwriter and after a project where the author doesn’t seem to recognize her, she starts to wonder if this is her true calling. That same night, she meets a guy at the bar and the chemistry is immediately off the charts…until their one night stand is awkward and leaves her unsatisfied. Chandler later receives another offer to work with an actor from a well-known tv show, but she doesn’t recognize Finn Walsh from the show, but from that awful one night stand.
After they both agreed they would put that in the past, she accepts the job off, but at one point she admits that it wasn’t the best night of her life. Later, they make a deal for Chandler to teach Finn ways to satisfy women in the bedroom. Until the professional and pleasurable lines become blurred…

First off, shoutout to Rachel Lynn Solomon for writing this masterpiece. It's like she got all cozy in my brain and wrote this book from some of my personal experiences.
Right off the bat, I related so deeply with Chandler, because one: she’s a Pisces, and two: she loves to read and write, but is at a point in her life where she’s scared to take risks for herself. Growing up, we’re told in school that we’re going to be successful and could be anything wanted. That we should have it all figured out after graduating. Obviously, it does work out for some people, but for me and Chandler, we’re both stuck in this place in life where we’re doing what we love, but not loving what we’re doing. Does that make sense?
Whereas Finn loves his acting career, but is only known for the one hit tv show and wants to show the world that he is so much more than that. He works on his memoir with Chandler and we learn about his OCD and how that has affected him growing up and in the industry. This book dealt with quite a few heavy topics between both characters (check warnings down below), but it was written and presented in such a healthy way and you realize that this is something we should be able to talk about freely. We’re all human.
“You get to create art that matters to other people, something that brings them joy or inspires them or helps them process, or something that just allows them to escape the real world for a while…What I’m most passionate about, actually, is mental health.”
The relationship between Chandler and Finn is also one of the healthiest I’ve read. Obviously, Finn has to open up for Chandler to write his book, but that aside, they would be vulnerable with each other no matter what.
“If someones going to be part of my life, I need them to know this about me. And I need them to accept it.”
“I’d like to be in your life for a while…If you’ll let me.”
Business or Pleasure is VERY spicy and sex positive, but it’s also so much more than that. You have these beautiful, insecure and anxious characters that are worried they aren't good enough to succeed on their own. But they soon realize that it’s okay not knowing what to do or where to be in life. It’ll take time to find your happiness and that’s okay. Plus...the spice was. Out. Of. This. World! Wow. I’ll be thinking of these two forever.
"I'm so glad you took the risk."
"That's the thing...With you, it doesn't feel like one. it Just feels like home."
This book ripped me open and healed me at the same time and I wish I could read this for the first time again. An instant 5 stars all around. I can’t wait for the world to meet Chandler and Finn and I hope they love them as much as I do.
CWs: OCD, anxiety, panic attacks, abortion (mentioned in the past), abusive/toxic family member (mentioned in the past)
This was my first completed adult novel by Rachel Lynn Solomon. As a fan of her YA books, I was upset when I didn’t click with The Ex Talk. Although Business or Pleasure did not measure up to her YA books, I still found this book fun! I really liked the premise of this story and the idea of the main leads not having the best sexual encounter at the beginning. Hello second hand embarrassment! Even though the spicy scenes became a bit too much for me, I enjoyed reading this book. I found the narrative and positive sex talk refreshing. Thank you to NetGalley and Berkley Publishing Group for the arc.
3.5. This is probably my least favorite RLS book so far only because the plot and chemistry both fall flat for me. (It might be because this is SUCH a slow burn, and the teacher-student dynamic didn’t totally work for me.) That being said, this is still cute and has some solid mental health rep.
I loved the Ex talk and figured I would love this one too, but for some reason this one didn’t work for me. For starters, it’s an extremely slooooowww burn. I also felt the chemistry between Finn and Chandler was a bit forced. Will definitely continue checking out her books though !
4.75
With the exception of a few moments (e.g. the line about how a boyfriend's shirt is always bigger and like EEEK not in the year of beyonce 2023), I absolutely ADORED this one.
Yes, it's tropey - bad at sex, sex lessons, only one bed, celebrity x normie, and many more.. But to reduce it to *just* that would diminish the book, in my opinion.
Solomon is a master at writing liminal moments - those messy middles that lead to growth, deeper self knowledge, and stronger relationships...even as the tend to be painful AF.
BoP is no exception. Chandler is at an inflection point in her life: continue on or take a risk. Do what she's longed to do or stay with the work she knows will pay her. I love that she's facing this in her mid-30s too, when the stakes feel higher than say a quarter life crisis. When its easy to look around and feel that everyone else has got it all figured out.
It's not an easy choice. Hell its not even a particularly individual choice for most of us! But she has the family and, eventually, romantic and financial, support to do it.
Along the way we have the most awkward and bad sex scene I've ever read. I was making faces and curling into myself! It was terrible. AND from those ashes we get to experience dirty talk lessons, ALL the green flags, such healthy communication, light kink, and an expansive view of sex that doesn't centre penetration or put it on a pedestal.
All of Solomon's books are explicitly sex positive AND this takes it to a new level—and further than most romance novels out there. The only thing I can compare it to is Emily Foster's work and Emily is a sex educator by training. It was incredible to read and perfectly balanced.
Solomon is also known for her mental health rep and here we have characters living with OCD and anxiety, as well as navigating burnout.
This was hornier than I expected, beautifully written, and a love letter to all of us who feel "behind" on life. We deserve our happy endings too...in all their many forms.
“𝙄’𝙢 𝙨𝙤 𝙜𝙡𝙖𝙙 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙩𝙤𝙤𝙠 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙠,” 𝙝𝙚 𝙬𝙝𝙞𝙨𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙤 𝙢𝙮 𝙚𝙖𝙧.
“𝙏𝙝𝙖𝙩’𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜,” 𝙄 𝙨𝙖𝙮 𝙩𝙤 𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙗𝙚𝙖𝙩. 𝙎𝙤𝙛𝙩 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙮 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙧𝙪𝙚.
“𝙒𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙮𝙤𝙪, 𝙞𝙩 𝙙𝙤𝙚𝙨𝙣’𝙩 𝙛𝙚𝙚𝙡 𝙡𝙞𝙠𝙚 𝙤𝙣𝙚. 𝙄𝙩 𝙟𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙛𝙚𝙚𝙡𝙨 𝙡𝙞𝙠𝙚 𝙝𝙤𝙢𝙚.”
This book was an absolute delight and breath of fresh air. Rachel Lynn Solomon gave us so much representation, vulnerability, and openness between the characters that it's impossible not to love this book. I don't know if I've ever read such a healthy relationship dynamic in a rom-com... it was infectious and had me turning pages as quick as I could. I loved the chemistry and the way the characters grew together as the story progressed.
Things I loved:
One night stand to coworkers to lovers
Forced proximity
Witty banter
Career identity crisis (relatable af, am I right fellow millennials?)
Anxiety + neurodivergent rep
Jewish MCs
Lessons in the bedroom
Sex positive FMC
Sweet as pie, nerdy + willing to learn MMC
Lessons in the bedroom
Beautiful vulnerability + open communication
Things I didn't love:
The ending was a little lackluster, I just wanted a bit more.
TW - past abortion: I appreciate that the author wanted to include abortion as a topic, but for me, the way it was handled seemed very OOC for how open and sex positive the FMC is written. I wish that the author had delved into the topic more and given it the attention it deserved or not included it at all. It was a half baked plot point that just didn't make sense within the context of everything else.
Overall, I adored the book and would absolutely recommend it!

This was my favorite RLS, by far!! This was so charming and sexy, while being wholly realistic. I love this new trend of main characters working on their mental health and trying their hardest to be emotionally available and open. It really helps a book not have the miscommunication trope, which is the worst. Somewhere down the line, I'll definitely be reading this again.
Another winner from Rachel Lynn Solomon! I LOVED these characters. I loved their stories separately and together. And Rachel is right, this is her spiciest book yet…and I am HERE FOR IT. Chandler and Finn’s banter and chemistry was on point. I loved Finn’s backstory of being an actor from a teen werewolf show. It gave me total Buffy/Twilight vibes. This was a fun story with a lot of heart and emotion as well. The ending was great!
Thank you NetGalley, Berkley and PRHaudio for my complimentary ARC and ALC of this book.
Another cute read from Rachel Lynn Solomon. I really enjoyed the Jewish representation, the focus on following your dreams, the sex-posititivy and the romance. The overall plot was enjoyable but it also fell flat for me. It's a solid plot but it also felt a little lackluster at times. I've read several books by Rachel Lynn Solomon and this isn't up there at the top of the list — but I'll definitely be picking up more of her books in the future!
4.5 ⭐️ Such a fun, hilarious, romantic, sex-positive story

My Thoughts:
Okay, I loved this story! Rachel Lynn Solomon once again creates magic with this witty, charming rom-com that hooked me from the start!
Here’s what I liked:
The MCs: Chandler Cohen and Finnegan Walsh (first introduced as Drew). I absolutely adore these two! Chandler and Finn are both so thoughtful, caring, and kind. They’re just good people.
Pause while I rav a bit more about Finn. Every time this man is on the page, I can’t help but smile like an idiot. He’s a huge freaking cinnamon roll and you know I get weak in the knees for that kind of MMC. I love that even though Finn’s an actor, he’s a huge nerd. He has a great sense of humor - especially when teasing Chandler. His friends are so wonderful. How he supports and encourages Chandler to follow her dreams is so lovely. And his pain meds love confession was the cutest thing I’ve ever read. Okay, I’m done swooning over Finn. 🙈
I also really appreciate that there’s a lot of depth to Chandler and Finn. Chandler struggles with anxiety that can lead to panic attacks, and Finn, well I don’t want to spoil it, but he’s managing his own mental health issues and also has past family trauma. Both are also at points in their careers where they essentially feel stuck, they need something to change, and their partnership could very well be the catalyst. Rachel Lynn Solomon did an amazing job creating lovable characters that are interesting, relatable, and feel incredibly real.
The entire premise! I’ve read one night stand to lovers and I’ve read some ‘teach me’ romances, but I’ve never read a story where the guy is so bad in bed that the fmc ends up giving him sex lessons. 😂 Honestly, I wasn’t sure if I’d find the MC sexy if he wasn’t already a sex god but I found it incredibly refreshing. There were moments where the situation managed to make me laugh and then it would take a turn and become incredibly sexy. We stan a man who is willing to learn and can take directions. 😏
The sex-education. This book should be text book for most men, because I can guarantee they’d learn something new. The was Chandler approaches teaching Finn about sex is fantastic! I loved that she basically created a sexual lesson plan where each ‘session’ they explored something new. They started off with the basics like kissing and would ramp it up each time to cover things like foreplay, oral sex, and dirty talk - all very important aspects of sex that can be overlooked by men who want to skip ahead to the grand finale. This book also really highlights how important communication is to a healthy sex life and I really appreciate that. 👏
The spice. Even though Chandler and Finn get off on a rocky start, they have so much sexual chemistry. So once Finn starts his sex lessons and Chandler communicates her specific needs, the spice is fantastic!
The romance. Chandler and Finn are so stinking cute! There’s a lot of witty banter and teasing, but they also openly communicate and are incredibly kind gently honest with each other. Seriously, green flags all around. These two made me smile and I swear every time they interacted my heart double in size. It’s hard not to fall in love with them while they fall in love with each other. 💕
Some other random things I loved about this story include the LOTR references, learning a bit more about comic-con, and the Jewish rep and mentioning the challenges/racism experienced in the entertainment/media industry.
So why isn't this getting 5-stars?
Years ago, Chandler had an abortion. No big deal - even to her. It was the right decision, and that's that. But Chandler is extremely anxious about telling romantic partners about this event and essentially gauges her level of trust in them by if she's ready to tell them. I guess I didn't quite understand why that is, considering she's one of the most open and sex-positive heroines I've ever read about. She doesn't feel guilty about the abortion, so I didn't understand why she makes it such a big deal. Perhaps it's because she doesn't want to be judged? But she's not someone who needs approval from others, so I just didn't get it. The entire thing felt incredibly out of place in the story, and whenever it was brought up, it felt very jarring. I think this element of her character should have been removed or dived into deeper instead of only being vaguely mentioned twice before she decides to share this allegedly crucial piece of information with Finn.
Chandler Cohen does not do one night stands, until she does with Drew, who turns out to Finn Walsh, of teen werewolf tv show fame and, bad in bed. Hoping to never have to remember the worst night of sex ever, Chandler meets the prospective client she is to ghost write for, and it's Finn. But they can be professional, right? Until she accidentally tells him how not amazing the sex was, then he needs to know how to fix his technique, and the lines begin to blur.
I am a Rachel Lynn Soloman fan. I have read 4 books by her now, and disliked one of them, loved two of them, and felt lukewarm about another. This unfortunately is one I had lukewarm feelings toward. Perhaps it is like how one of my favorite Booktubers put it, that if there is a one-night stand at the beginning of the book, what is there to build toward? Soloman tried to build tension in this book, and I appreciate how steamy she made it, and how laugh-out-loud funny the initial sex scene was (maybe because I related too much to it), but introducing sex so early into a romance novel does derail the romantic tension train in most cases, this being one of them.
This novel took longer than I had hoped to get through, a shocking 9 days where I typically will finish an ebook within 5 (and audiobooks within 3) so my rating is partially based on how unmotivated I was to see what happened next. Perhaps it was more predictable than I would have liked (It is a romance novel so a certain amount of predictability is expected, if not welcome) but I also felt the plot lacked tension. There weren't risks being taken that felt high stakes, no one was going to far out of their comfort zone, and while there was a little plot device of miscommunication in the third act, it resolved so efficiently that it lacked any power behind it.
I think the steamy scenes need more polish as well. They need to be longer, drawn out, much like Chandler's discussion on building up to the orgasm, but I appreciate Soloman's first foray into the erotic. I will look forward to Soloman's next novel, as she is a go-to author for me.
Thank you Netgalley and Berkley Publishing Group for providing an ARC for an honest review!
Unfortunately I didn’t like this one. It started off with not clicking with me and it sadly stuck with me up until the end. I had high hopes because I have read other books from this author but this didn’t do it for me
I thoroughly enjoyed this contemporary romcom -- this is actually the first book I've read by Rachel Lynn Solomon and I am so glad I did! I will absolutely be diving into the rest of her work because she is a fantastic writer.
I found the premise of this to be an absolute romp!!! Chandler & Finn's clunky first night together was slapstick funny, & a breath of fresh air. Believe me, I LOVE SMUT but the fact that all cishet men just automatically know how to be good lovers makes me want to scream. Hence, why I loved Chandler & Finn's lessons on how to be a better intimate partner! I squealed when they visited the sex toy shop & used a vibrator together. MORE REPRESENTATION OF LUBE & SEX TOYS PLZ! I'd say the steam scale would be a 3/5 -- they were absolutely delectable.
Overall, I appreciated a romance between two Jewish leads who are navigating their mental health so openly and vulnerably. I can't wait to read more from RLS!
cw: mention of abortion, on-page panic attack, generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), anti-semitism, ableism, descriptions of obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD)
3.5 Stars
This started off so strong for me, the first few chapters were actually so funny that I thought I would end up loving this. But alas, it was just okay and it definitely stalled a bit after those first chapters. I didn't get invested in these characters and found their chemistry to be lacking. The author touches on some important issues like mental health (specifically OCD and Anxiety/Panic Attacks) and abortion, but I really wish she did more with these topics. I did like this one a bit more than The Ex Talk, but like the female MC in that book, I didn't really find myself rooting for Chandler. Overall, just an okay read for me with a lot of spice (but felt cringe-y at times).
Thank you NetGalley and Berkley for the ARC!
This was enjoyable. Not my favorite Solomon book but I enjoyed myself. Loved the main characters. They were a lot of fun and had great chemistry.
TW: this books deals with conversations about abortions, and mental health (specifically OCD and panic attacks)
I was lucky to be gifted an ARC of this book to review. I have loved the other books by this author and I couldn’t wait to drive back into her writing. This is a beautiful romance for people who love books about writers, and the hollywood industry. This story also deals heavily with the idea of being stuck in your job, and what you truly want out of life.
I got invested in this story right away, which I found really interesting for me. I have recently been in a fantasy mood and was really worried I wouldn't want to read a contemporary. But something about her writing really made me forget all about that and dive into this story head first. I love the banter between our main two characters, and their whole relationship was so much fun to read about. As I’ve said in the past, I am obsessed with Rachel Lynn Soloman’s story crafting and writing. I loved seeing the primary relationship in this story and seeing how realistic and messy it was.
Another thing that I really enjoyed about this book is that it is very sex positive. A lot of romances today are this way, but it felt way more than usual because of the teaching element of the story. This in general just gives a level of positivity that I appreciated.
Overall I fell head over heels in love with this story and the writing.I was hooked by this story, and devoured this book in a matter of days. I have read a good number of books by this author at this point and she has a fan in me!
