I enjoyed this book. The plot was well paced and the characters felt fully developed. I would recommend this book to others and am looking forward to other works by this author.

I absolutely ADORED this book! Chandler Cohen is a ghostwriter of celebrity memoirs who gets the opportunity to work with Finn, an actor whose popularity peaked a decade ago when he co-starred on a "Buffy the Vampire Slayer"-type paranormal drama. However, Chandler had never watched the show, or any of Finn's subsequent Hallmark Channel Christmas movies, so she had no idea whom he was when she impulsively hooked up with him after meeting him at a bar. The sex was so bad that she faked an orgasm and then snuck out of his hotel room as he slept, figuring she'd never have to see him again. So it was quite a surprise when she met her prospective new client at lunch the next day, only to find the man she'd just left a few hours before.

Despite the fact that the situation is Awkward with a capital "A," Finn and Chandler figure they can put their bad experience behind them and work together. Finn spends most of his time traveling around the country attending comic book/sci-fi conventions, so Chandler, who has barely ever left her hometown of Seattle, starts following him from con to con. When she finally admits to Finn that he was terrible in bed, he expresses an interest in learning how to be a better lover, and Chandler remembers why she was attracted to him on the first night they met.

There are so many things that this book does right. My jaw almost dropped when Chandler and Finn had BAD sex, because most love scenes involve the couple meshing perfectly the first time they get together. The book's sex scenes are thoroughly integrated into the plot in such a way that they never seem boring or repetitive. Both characters struggle with anxiety, and their mental health challenges are dealt with in a sensitive and non-exploitative manner. There's even a reproductive-rights subplot. Thanks to Berkley for the review copy via NetGalley; if you're a romance fan, be sure to add this one to your TBR!

Rating this book five stars was so incredibly easy. Rachel Lynn Solomon does it again! Her writing creates tangible and lovable characters. Her book worlds all interconnect a little bit, which is so fun. The story was a great plot and the characters have great chemistry, friendships, and overall you will always root for her characters. Also, it takes skill to write an entirely fake tv series into a plot - creating characters that are dual fold with both screen names and real names. The show is like the culmination of 100 CW tv shows circa mid 2000s. The story also encompasses both main characters’ mental health journeys, and does so with grace and accuracy - which is so critical anytime you write about mental health.

Plus the spice is TOP NOTCH! If you’re a fan of RLS’ writing, don’t miss this one!

Thank you to NetGalley and Berkeley/Penguin Random House for a copy in exchange for my honest review.

This was a good read. The characters were real. It's kind of refreshing to have a leading man who isn't an automatic Casanova. I did feel that the plot dragged in spots and that the same things were said repeatedly, but the humor and the couple kept me invested.

Completely charming. A little suspension of disbelief required in regards to the nature of male ego - this has "female gaze" written all over it. But I really enjoyed it.

A fun, steamy concept, although Finn seems almost too good to be true. (A man who doesn’t get offended and wants to listen/learn how to be better at sex?!) . And loved the Jewish representation.

I thought this book was well written with well fleshed out characters and a believable, more realistic romantic relationship. I loved that it didn't include the fantasy of a perfect physical relationship immediately. The only drawback for me was the central conflict to the romance. It went on quite a while and didn't feel entirely authentic. Otherwise, good solid read.

I liked this one. I liked the characters, the story, the writing is great. Loved the mention of the ex talk characters, lol. I know it’s in the synopsis that it is an awkward hookup, but there’s a difference between awkward and bad in bed. It’s kind of hard to get into/like a hero when he’s like that. Kind of like secondhand embarrassment? I don’t know. Cringey AF. Once we get through that though, I found it very enjoyable. It was adorable, steamy, funny. Love all the LOTR geekiness. Could have done without the wolf TV parts. I found the characters very relatable (perhaps too relatable sometimes). Loved how honest and communicative they were, and how sex positive the book is. Overall, I enjoyed it and definitely recommend. I would love to read more from this author.

I loved the beginning of this book and how the two characters met. I had a hard time about 25-40% in as it was losing my interest but soon after that hump I couldn't put it down.

Business or Pleasure is a heartwarming novel from Rachel Lynn Solomon! I have read and loved every single one of RLS's previous works, so I was super excited to read Business or Pleasure. I enjoyed watching Finn and Chandler navigate their growing feelings for one another while going on a comic convention tour for Finn's former hit TV show and agreeing to partake in/provide sex lessons. The natural progression of their relationship throughout the duration of the book felt very believable, and I was definitely at the edge of my seat watching the tension simmer during all the forced proximity scenes between Chandler and Finn. There were times where I wished there was a little more action going on with the plot, as the story felt a little repetitive where it kept following this pattern of Chandler and Finn flying to a new city, then going to a con, then going out for dinner after, then starting a new lesson that night, and then repeating the next day. However it was still an enjoyable read, and I think fans of RLS's previous works will definitely enjoy this novel.

Chandler Cohen is going through a career crisis when she meets a man in a bookstore bar. She has a disappointing one night stand with him, then, unknowingly agrees to become his ghostwriter for his actor, teen drama memoir. Also, Chandler agrees to give Finn intimacy lessons??? Yes please.

This story was drama-filled in the best way due to their awkwardness post-one night stand and their attempt at staying professional. I was having the best time witnessing Chandler and Finn travel around together for Finn’s comic cons trying to figure out how to act around one another. Finn was so obviously into Chandler from the start - it was adorable. Chandler was a bit more reserved and was definitely hiding from her feelings for a good portion of the book, which felt true to her character.

When Chandler finally revealed to Finn that he was far from excellent in bed, Finn didn’t have an out burst or blame his poor performance on Chandler, like some men would. Despite being embarrassed, Finn was eager to learn from Chandler in both an educational and romantic way. The reason their arrangement worked so well is because they had mutual respect and obvious chemistry. The prominent sex positivity was an incredible addition to these lessons as well.

What I love most about this book is how well Chandler and Finn complimented each other. They both felt stuck in their respective careers and were not sure what they want to do with their lives. But they both motivated each other to take risks in their personal and professional lives. The mental health representation, specifically OCD, was excellent and handled with care. As someone who suffers from similar OCD compulsions, I felt so seen and I really appreciated this aspect of the Finn’s characterization.

This is one of my favorite romance novels I’ve read this year because of the juicy plot, great characters, and romantic and emotional depth. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves celebrity romances, books about books, and sex positive spicy scenes!

This was a fun read - loved the build up of the romance, and the fan convention setting of most of the book. A really sweet read between a journalist and a former teen show star!

This book has some great banter and the writing is great. You immediately have a feel for the characters. However, I personally lost interest pretty quickly. As someone looking for an escape when I read the last thing I want to read about is a man who is terrible in bed. It does eventually pick up( and of course he gets better at it) but still not one of my favorites.
I do like the authors writing style and will look for other things they have done.

Sex lessons? Former supernatural show heart throb? Um, sex lessons? Yes, yes, yes. I have yet to encounter a Rachel Lynn Solomon book that I don't love, and her latest adult romance is no exception. Absolutely adored this sexy and empowering read!

Thank you NetGalley for and ARC copy!

Very fun and sexy! I had a blast reading this. Chandler and Finn were such lovable characters and they made it so easy to fall in love with them. I love the convention circuit aspect of the story, I love comic con and other similar conventions since I'm a huge nerd so this was very relatable for me - And the parts when chandler is teaching Finn about sex?? AMAZING! this is a very sex-positive book and I'm here for it. The way chandler talks about sex so openly and confidently is refreshing, she was never hesitant to speak up and say what she likes and wants which you don't see often enough.

Their romance was so sweet and I love watching them fall for each other. Will definitely be buying my own copy of this for my shelves.

Chandler is a ghostwriter longing to pursue her own creative endeavors. Finn is a former heartthrob who starred in a popular teen drama and now is a regular on the comic con circuit and loves connecting with fans. When they meet, Chandler doesn't recognize Finn from the show, and he doesn't let on that he has a cult-like fan base. They have fun together, but the chemistry isn't quite there for Chandler. When they find themselves reconnecting in a work relationship, Chandler agrees to help Finn out in the bedroom. She could use a little fun in her life. Their love story is sweet, steamy, and heartfelt. Mental health is an important part of the story and Rachel Lynn Solomon weaves it into the plot really well. It's taken seriously and treated with respect. I love Chandler's parents and her love for them is really endearing. A great read!
