I wish I could have sprites living in my garden. I felt so bad that Wisteria was being left out, but watching her in the garden was magical. The art is amazing and the story does make you wish for a sprite. I loved it.
Cute and short read. I definitely enjoyed it and I am glad it was made. Don't have a lot to say about it but it's a cute story and art style, if that's something that picks your interest.
What a whimsical, vibrant, wholesome story this graphic novel is! The art is amazing and super adorable, I absolutely adore the artstyle! The story itself is super cute and wholesome in which sprites learn to reclaim their abilities and work together with humans to maintain gardens.
I would not have minded if the story would have been longer and I'm very curious to see and read more fo Rii Abrego.
This is such a cute and visually stunning graphic novel! It follows Wisteria, a little sprite, and newcomer to the neighborhood, as she visits gardens and becomes mesmerized by a struggling gardener in need of help. The beautiful color palette and soft illustrations combine to create a lovely whimsical book that many will love. Without giving too much away, the story itself is very sweet and endearing and the sprites, who are all named after plants and flowers, are utterly adorable. I really hope we will see more of them in the future. If you enjoy cozy graphic novels such as the Tea Dragon Society series, I cannot recommend The Sprite and the Gardener enough.
Thank you so much NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read an advanced copy of this book. While I was granted advanced access to this book, this does not influence my reviews and all my opinions are my own.

Reading this was an absolute JOY! It had me enchanted from page one ! It's a quick read with a wonderful message about friendship. Readers of all ages will absolutely adore this graphic novel!
A wonderful sprite starts helping a human girl to grow her garden, which is in hopes to please his sick mother, who is too ill to tend to a garden anymore.

I feel a bit bad giving this cute little book a three star rating, but as adorably drawn and sweetly written as it is, there isn’t a lot there past that. It’s a pretty short little story about a little sprite trying to fit in, who befriends a human gardener - great concept, but it happens so quickly and easily that it doesn’t have much impact. While wholesome, it doesn’t really generate any emotions because there’s no conflict and no sense of rising to a challenge or overcoming a problem. I wanted a lot more out of this comic, and I’m a bit sad I’ve forgotten it almost as quickly as I read it.
The art was very beautiful but i wish there was just a more developed plot line. was still. a very sweet story that was a good pick me up
Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for a review!
The Sprite and the Gardener is a graphic novel that follows a group of sprites who live in a town together. In this world, sprites used to be fully in charge of all types of gardening but now humans tend to their gardens on their own. The sprite Wisteria is new to town and while it may go against the norm, she wants to help a human girl with her garden. My favorite thing about this graphic novel is the art style. The colors are so pretty and the art has an older feel that reminds me a lot of what I would have seen in my childhood 20 years ago. Since this is a graphic novel the story is quite short but it still involves many important themes. I liked seeing Wisteria find her place and passion and seeing Elena's relationship with her mother. Overall, this was super cute and I would recommend it if you are looking for a quick wholesome read.
Thank you Netgalley for the arc. This was is the epitome of a cute, wholesome read. Truly a dose of serotonin. The art was so beautiful and made me severely jealous that I don’t have have a garden myself. Recommend to anyone who needs a feel-good read, an escape, or a palate cleaner after a heavy read. For fans of Arrietty or Ghibli films in general.
The story was cute, but I think something was missing, like a little plot twist or more information about the lives of the principal characters.
Such a whimsical little graphic novel! It brought a smile to my lips in the very first page, and it stayed right there even after I'd finished this tale.
Little garden sprite Wisteria is a newbie in Sylvan Trace, where all the other sprites seem to have already grown tightly knit. Feeling a sad about the fact that she can't seem to fit in with everyone else, Wisteria decides to visit the garden everyone thinks has been ruined by humans: Meadowgreen, where a young human called Elena is trying her best to bring her mum's little garden back to life. Moved by the girl's efforts, Wisteria decides to use her magic to try and help her. When Elena finds out about Wisteria, and the fact that the sprite is the actual reason why the garden is now thriving, the two agree to cooperate to make the garden as pretty as it could be.
The gorgeous artwork was what lured me in in the first place. Each sprite has been drawn in the style of a different plant or flower, which made it really aesthetically pleasing to take my time to look at each character individually. With smooth, flowy curved lines and warm pastel colours, this comic was a sight for sore eyes! It's the kind of pretty art style that never fails to make me feel happy.
Even though the story in and of itself isn't groundbreaking - a little plant fairy decides to help a human grow a garden -, the message about community involvement was definitely adequate for the troubled times we live in. All the garden sprites decide to come forwards, together, to help humans make their gardens thrive; and, in the end, the gardens flourish and thrive like never before. The lesson is, when everyone comes together things can be extraordinary, and the community is so much stronger as a whole than each individual separately. This was a very kind reminder that we need to work with others to succeed, and bring our projects forwards.
All in all, a really sweet little story that I'll remember with love and tenderness for a long time to come!
This seemed like such as cute graphic novel and it was exactly that. It was so cute and wholesome. The art style was different from what im used to seeing and i really loved it. The style worked so well with the story line, both were pretty and easy on the eyes.
This was a sweet little graphic novel. It doesn’t really have a lot of substance (it’s just 80 pages, after all) but it’s still really cute and has a message of working together
This is one I've had my eye on for a while and it was absolutely adorable.
Perfect for fans of Taproot by Keezy Young, this graphic novel has a gorgeous art style and a sweet innocence to it that really draws you in and wraps you up like a warm hug.
Honestly my only complaint is that it isn't longer because I would have liked a more in depth view of everything but this was super cute and I'd highly recommend
Thank you NetGalley for providing me with an arc of this book :)
"In the distant, distant past, sprites were the caretakers of life." Until one day humans came along. From then on it was the people who took care of the plants and the little Sprites were no use anymore. Wisteria, the main character, is new to town and she is torn between helping the plants and wanting to blend in with the rest of the sprites. This book shows how humans can blend in with the magic folk perfectly and it creates a perfect harmony :) this is such a cute read, I recommend reading this! It's a perfect spring book
beautiful, cute, adorable, heartwarming, and magical. the illustration matches the story and the vibes so well. I love this so much
This was just so cute. The story is very easy to get through and is packed with nice takeaways.
The art style was not really for me, but it was very original and I liked that about it.
I would definitely pick up more original stories by this author.
This was a short but sweet story of garden sprites who find their magic again with the help of a gardener. The artwork was absolutely beautiful and I definitely got a real Ghibli vibe from it.
If you like books like The Tea Dragon Society, this is perfect for you. Just a quick little wholesome cozy story about finding community and accepting help from others.
