This book is very dark, disturbing and gruesome, and quite unbelievable at times...but it is a captivating read and well written, it has a lot of unique twists and turns, especially towards the end. This is definitely a book that will keep you turning the pages until the very end. If you like books about serial killers and the possible motivations and the factors behind what makes them who they are, this book is for you.

WOW, what a interesting story. This story would make you have all different types of emotions. Jaw dropping and page turner. Would highly recommend it.

I was initially quite caught up in this story of a woman protecting her young son…until 10 years later she is still doing it, and that was morphing into another level of protection that I could no longer believe, read, or care about. That is where I stopped…also the woman was so self-delusional, so co trolled by her son, it was not real.

I enjoyed this one!! I found parts of it a little slow paced but a good book overall. The "twist" in the story was not much of surprise

I love psychological thriller sand the darker the better so I thought that I might like this one, and I loved it. It was gripping, twisty, dark and chilling. Everything I love about thrillers

I enjoyed reading this twisted tale, however the twist was obvious pretty early on.
The plot is good . Would have liked a bit more depth to the main protagonists, as they only become real at the end, but this could be a deliberate trope. For those who like a dark psychological thriller I recommend this one.

Tried to get into this but found it slow and wasn't invested in any of the characters. Read spoilers to see if worth powering through and couldn't get through the over writing to finish. Just wasn't for me but others seem to love it.

I found this book gory and uncomfortable reading. Thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to read this ARC, but I'm sorry, this one isnt for me

I’ve always known Jack was different. Ever since he was eight years old and he killed his father. He was protecting me, just like I’ve always protected him.

But now he’s eighteen and this time he’s gone too far. Steve is dead. He was a good man, and god, we could have been really great together — but now he’s bleeding out on our kitchen table.

I must keep my boy safe. No one can ever know what he’s done. What he’s capable of. But Jack’s got a taste for killing. And I won’t let him get caught.

I’ll do whatever it takes to keep him safe, keep him with me. Even if it means becoming a monster myself.

What would you do if your only son was a killer? How far would you go?

This story was everything and more. A bit gory at times but that ending though. It was a mother of a plot twist. Will recommend to others.

This story drew me in from the first page where we learn that little 8 year old Jack has just killed his father in his mother's defense and Natasha does her best to cover it up, or as Natasha would describe it -protect Jack. Natasha prides herself on being 'a good mother' and she will do whatever it takes to keep Jack safe. The story quickly jumps forward in time and we now find Jack as a teenager-about to turn 18 and has just killed again. What will Natasha do this time? Does she see this as a pattern, that her son is violent? Will she turn him in or try to protect him once again?

After Jack's second killing, I was hooked and found myself needing to find out what Natasha and Jack would do about their situation. I did not except this story to unfold the way it did, all the twists and turns kept me questioning the sanity of them both. Natasha goes to great lengths to keep her sons' secrets as well as to keep others safe from him but what are true intentions in doing so? You'll be turning page after page to find out.

This was a little disturbing. Everybody was a killer. The son killed people. The mom brought him people to kill then the lover boy killed the son and just ended

Many thanx to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for allowing me to read and review this book.
I tried a few times to get into this book but afraid I didn't get too far. Felt it too slow to start and also found it very hard to understand a mother doing what she did!! Not a book for me, sorry.

This is a book I truly wish I could read for the first time all over again. I’m in complete awe and fangirl mode at how utterly fantastic this book is.

This book didn't grab me as I'd hoped it would, it was ok! Thank you for the opportunity to read this for an honest review!

The things a mother will do to protect their family! I wasn’t completely thrilled by the book because it was basically a mother doing what a mother would do but it just wasn’t an exciting as I thought it would be.

Natasha prides herself on being a good mother, but how much is too much when is comes to loving a son that might just be a psychopath?

This story was a really interesting and unique concept, and I couldn't help but want to know more. The premise drew me in. And while Lizzie Fry definitely keeps things moving along, somewhere along the way I found myself just wanting Jack to kill Natasha.

I'm not sure what it is, but the lengths that Natasha went to in order to protect her son bordered on ridiculous, and although I can understand wanting to protect your flesh and blood, there comes a time when you need to realize that person might just being turning you into as much of a bad guy as he is.

There was definitely enough in this book to hold my attention. Although I found Natasha to be ridiculous, I couldn't help but wonder what she would do to get herself out of her next bad situation. I think that's probably what kept me reading - even though she came off as borderline crazy herself, I couldn't help but wonder what she would do next.

If you're looking for something a little out there, this book might just do it for you.

2.5 stars.

There’s nothing WRONG with this book, but it didn’t hook me. It was a bit slow and the writing didn’t inspire any sense of urgency or suspense (not that the writing was bad). The plot was good, and the characters were pretty much all bat shit crazy. I would read from this author again, she clearly has good ideas, the execution just needs a bit more *umpf*.

Thank you NetGalley for this ARC <3

This book is one of a kind. It drew me in on page one and continued to keep me engrossed throughout the book. As the plot unfolded it almost left me gasping for air. A part of me did not want to read it because I was so surprised and overwhelmed but another part of me could not put the book down. It was well written with concise and very vivid descriptions. My heart broke at times and at other times I found myself upset and angry.

The story is written using the viewpoint of a mother as she narrates her life (past and present) and includes descriptions of her son from infancy to present. Don’t think you know how this story will end because you may be surprised.. This is definitely one of the best books I have read in a very long time. I can’t wait for it to be published so that I can discuss it with friends and family. I have already recommended it to several people because it’s such a fantastic book.
