Another great collection of novellas from Dragonblade! This collection gave the authors the challenge of adapting a Shakespeare story. All of the stories were very enjoyable and creative. Here's a quick summary:

The Taming of the Duke (E. Royal) - this was probably my favorite in the collection. I've very quickly come to like Emily Royal's characters and writing style. Loved Catherine right away and was so glad she was given a complex background to explain her protectiveness toward her sister. I also really liked that Dax was interested in Cat before being offered the bet with Lucian. This entire story was pretty much perfection from start to finish. In addition, I read Hardwick and Beatrice's story after I read this but going back it so nice to see how happy they still were.

Once Upon a Winter's Tale (A. St. Claire) - This certainly started off on a bleak note, but warmed up after the passage of time. I wish there had been more about why Wharton was so fixated on having a son - his nephew seemed like a good man and heir so it wasn't about keeping him from the title. He also missed out on a pretty great daughter in Brianna. The romance between her and Albert was really sweet.

Her Tempestuous Duke (E. Keysian) - Parys makes for an interesting and mysterious hero. I loved his animal friends as they opened the story to some humorous moments. I liked that Minerva didn't cower before Parys and made him stop and think about his actions. I'm not sure I completely believed Anthony's explanation for what had happened - if he had just been thinking of Minerva's safety at that time why was he plotting with his servants to try to kill Parys when they were locked up? The happy ending was definitely earned.

The Sixth Henry (C. Warfield) - This may be the most light-hearted of all the tales. I loved the interactions between Henry and Margaret - they had great banter. At first I was greatly disappointed with Margaret's actions when she stole the rose clipping, but I forgave her once it was clear she wasn't doing it so her family would win.

What the False Heart Doth Know (E.E. Carter) - This story did not go in the direction I was expecting, but I found I did not mind in the end. Once it was discovered why Anthony had broken Sapphira's heart you realized how much he loved her and what he was willing to do to protect her. Although I did feel bad for Lady Elizabeth (afterall, she had not done anything wrong) I think in the end she was saved from a marriage that would not have made her happy.

The Duke's Lost Love (R. Casie) - Although I really enjoyed the romance building between Anne and Fitzhugh I was really left wondering what had occurred between the other ladies and gentlemen left behind at the house. I'm really hoping we get their stories at some point.

The Merry Wife of Wyndmere (C.H. Admirand) - I've read a few stories from this series, but not Persephone and Jared's so I didn't have the necessary knowledge of what had occurred previously regarding their twin babies. Not having known them prior to this story made it somewhat difficult to fully engage with it. This is probably the most serious of those in the collection.

Loving Lysander (C. Wren) - This is probably the saddest story in the collection, mostly because I couldn't help but feel bad for Catherine and Lysander for all the years they lost. It was pretty clear where the backstory was going and that Lysander was also a victim here. It speaks highly of his love for Catherine that as soon as he was free to pursue her he did so that he could tell her that he loved her. I don't blame Catherine for walking away from his attempt to reconcile, but was glad that she didn't totally shut him out and was willing to go to him once she knew the truth for sure. That final chapter is the stuff romance novels are made for.

Much Ado About a Storme (S. Sookoo) - This was a bit of a departure from many of the historical romance stories out there in that the main characters are older and looking for love the second time around. A sweet story about moving on and realizing you're never too old to fall in love again.

A Midwinter Night's Dream (A. Markland) - Thank goodness for the magical beliefs of the young. Had it not been for Edwina, it's very possible that Theo and Dolly would never have had the courage to admit their feelings for one another. I'm not usually a big fan of the governess/employer romance, but since she wasn't truly a governess I'll make an exception here.

There were some great stories in this Anthology. I liked the ones from Caroline Warfield, Anna Markland, and C H Admirand. I think anyone familiar with Shakespeares plays will relish the abstractions.

Ten delightful and entertaining novels by some of the best authors make this a heartwarming Christmas read. I enjoyed each and every novella, some of them lighthearted and others a little bit sad, but all of them are standalones and come to a happy conclusion. It is hard to choose which romance I enjoyed the most but perhaps it could be Much Ado About a Storme. Nevertheless, all of the stories were enjoyable, leaving me in a romantic frame of mind. I received a copy of this anthology as a gift through Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley and this is my honest and voluntary review.

🎄🎄🎄A collection of whimsical holiday romances by some great authors - I enjoyed them, however I wish the stories were longer. This is a common problem for me when I read collections like this so I wasn’t surprised at my own frustration 😉

4.75/5 stars! Perfect cozy winter read. This anthology of regency romance tales was perfection. Each of the stories was long enough to have substance and draw you in, but the fact that we got to read 10 individual wonderful stories in one book was great. Highly recommend cozying up with this book during these cold winter days.

I had real fun reading this collection of short regency romance stories !!! All about dukes and earls and important figures behaving simply like people in love !! This collection of regency romances was not only a mixture of different live adventures - some more or less spicy than the others - but also a collection of different tropes that we all love: Found family, Forced proximity, Enemies to lovers, Tension and banter, Beauty and the beast, Grumpy sunshine, Impossible relationships!!!!
All these bits set together to make this book perfect for the winter and Christmas season !!! It definitely gives you that happiness and giddiness that’s part of this stage of the year !!!
I’m so glad I had the chance to meet all these characters and be part of their short but significant journey !!!
