This is the 16th book in this long running series. But only the 2nd book in the series that I have read. The first book I read is book #15 and honestly, most of my opinions on this series hasn't changed. But I do find myself warming up to it.

I said this in my first review with book #15, and I'll say it again for this book(#16). Not a great standalone book to read. But doable if not familiar with the series. Story is interesting but there is an onslaught of characters early on and I often found myself struggling to keep up with who each character is. And how they're related.

I am not a fan of Krista Davis's writing style. There is something about her prose that I find stark. But the plot was interesting. The mystery of not just one murder but 2 AND an attempted murder AND adding on to all the other odd events and wanting to know how they crossed over each other and why... Whew! It was a lot and kept the mysteries interesting. Not overwhelming, but exciting. I didn't find it a hard mystery to solve, but the relationships between the characters took time to work out. I really wanted the Jessica Fletcher moment when everything was laid out, explained, and resolved. We sort of get that at the end. Felt more like playing CLUE. (Col. Mustard, in the library, with the candle stick.) Solid 3 stars on this go around with the Domestic Diva Mystery Series. Nice cozy. And I'm willing to continue with it.

Thank you #netgalley & #Kensington for the kindle ARC.

Another fantastic mystery from Krista Davis! I felt that this was one of her best Domestic Diva mysteries yet, with plenty of twists and turns and lots of different levels to the story.

Caution - reading this book will cause you to be hungry. It is not advisable that you read this book with an empty stomach. The descriptions of the food being prepared are divine and will make your mouth water. This is another check mark in the winner's column for Krista Davis' wildly popular series.

Sophie Winston is an event planner. She is preparing for the Association of Ghost Kitchens. (There are no ghosts.) You will have to read more to find out what this means! The first item on Sophie's agenda is her attendance at a meeting with a group of women who run a charitable organization known as A Healthy Meal which provides food for children in need. She is especially excited because the meeting is being held at Geraldine Stansfield's house (Gerrie to her friends). Gerrie is known for her lavish parties, place settings, decorations and wonderful food. This party is about to come to halt when a dead body is found at the end of the lovely banquet table with a knife sticking out of his chest.

Sophie and friends are determined to solve this case and prove that Gerrie did not kill the man whose body was found on the floor of her dining room. The mystery in this one was very complex. I have to admit that I floundered about while trying to solve this mystery myself. There were simply too many suspects. The dirty laundry is about to be aired out for all of Old Town, Virginia to see, and heads are going to roll. There will be some blasts from the past for some of the characters as well. I enjoy a good, clean cozy mystery, and this book and this series are one of my top five to read. The descriptions of the table settings and decorations make me want to have a fancy dinner party myself. The characters are quirky and easy to like, except for Natasha. She is quite the diva, but Sophie has learned to let her comments and actions just roll off her back. After all Natasha is just Natasha and everyone knows it. Sophie always ends up coming out on top without saying a word.

Thank you to Kensington and NetGalley for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

The Diva Makes A Promise is #16 in The Diva series. The Diva is one that made me fall in love with reading cozy mysteries so when I got the chance to read the newest one, I was excited to read it. Krista Davis wrote a solid plot, likeable characters, and lots of mystery. Thank you Netgalley and Kensington Books

I loved this book! I never get tired of her novels. They are always funny and keep me guessing as to whodunit. I was glad to see some old favorite characters back this time around.

A hidden knife, ghost kitchens, secrets and murder. Are all these items all connected? Sophie Winston, event planner and amateur sleuth, promised a victim she would look into it, but people are getting hurt and time is running out. Can Sophie connect all the dots before more people are hurt?

There's a reason this is a long running series. The author does an excellent job of giving detailed descriptions of the settings and plotting a complex and interesting story. There is also a little teaser in this story that leaves me anxious to see what happens in the next book in the series.

Ms. Davis pens an interesting cozy series. Her Sophie Winston leads a colorful and varying existence, with lots of eclectic interacting characters. This one is a must read.
A body appears in the kitchen of a socially conscious grand dam at a planning party and the suspects go from zero to many quickly. Sophie and crew investigate several different things at once and find they’re tied in. Includes tips and recipes.
I requested and received a NetGalley ARC to peruse gratis and offer my opinion freely.

The Diva series is my all time favorite and the one that founded my love of cozy mysteries. This installment in the series was fantastic as per usual.

The first body shouldn't even have been there. In early questioning no one knew the victim but with a bit of sleuthing it seems that nearly everyone did. Good thing Sophie is as good at sleuthing as she is at finding excellent recipes and teaching readers about ghost kitchens and their place in the restaurant business today. A very good whodunit with fascinating characters and tasty recipes.
I loved it!

I was so excited to return to Old Town, and book friends Sophie and Nina, in the latest installment in Krista Davis' Domestic Diva Mystery series, The Diva Delivers on a Promise. This is one of my favorite series because it has everything I enjoy---delicious foods, characters that are easy to love, villains who keep me on my toes, sweet pets, and a tangled mystery or two. Sophie is present at the A Healthy Meal luncheon when the first body is discovered. She is hired to discover who did it, even though she is hip deep into plans for the Ghost Kitchen convention. The path to the killer is littered with more mystery, tangled clues and motives. A fabulous read as usual! To get the most benefit of Davis' wonderful cast of characters, I suggest reading these in order.
I am so appreciate receiving, [at my request],the advanced E-book to read and review. Thank you NetGalley, Kensington Cozies, and Krista Davis.

The Diva series was my first introduction to cozy mysteries and even though I don't read them often anymore, I always read the newest Diva. The characters make you want to go back again and again to Old Town, Alexandria.
The Diva Delivers on a Promise is one of the best of the series. Sophia Winston and her best friend Nina find themselves involved in another murder investigation when a man is found dead a friend's home during a luncheon. The search for the murderer puts them in the world of Ghost Kitchens as they try to figure out who they can trust. Sophia also has a potential in a return love interest, one I have always hoped she would end up with!
Most cozies lose my interest as authors struggle to write new stories and have main characters' lives change. The Diva always has new characters, but not so many I can't follow the story. I also love the columns letters that start each chapter written to Sophia or her competition/friend Natasha. All this makes the perfect cozy mysteries.
I received a complimentary copy of this book thanks to Net Galley and Kensington publishing, but all opinions are my own.

The Diva Delivers on a Promise by Krista Davis is book #16 in the Domestic Diva Mystery series. This is a very intriguing, complex who-dun-it - multiple mysteries to solve. The storyline revolves around the Stansfield family. There's newly widowed, still grieving matriarch Geraldine. She has two sons, the eldest, Jim, runs the family business while the younger son, Todd, is a lackadaisical, do-nothing guy. This author has well-developed characters, many returning from earlier books in the series. Of course, there's the main character, amateur detective Sophie Winston. I enjoyed reading about how Sophie thinks through the mysteries to their conclusion. I have only read the first book in the series, The Diva Runs Out of Thyme, in addition to this latest release. There have been quite a few changes since that first book. I plan to go back and catch up.

THE DIVA DELIVERS ON A PROMISE is the sixteenth book in the Domestic Diva Mystery series by Krista Davis. You can always count on Ms. Davis to provide intriguing characters you’d love to hang out with and a puzzling murder to solve with tantalizing food to keep you company! In this newest release, we find event planner, Sophie Winston, handling the convention for the Association of Ghost Kitchens. I was fascinated by both the name of the group and the concept behind it, which is restaurants/kitchens that do delivery only and don’t have customers come to them. The author weaves the details of this concept into a subplot, so that the reader learns a lot yet is entertained at the same time. Another feature in “The Diva” books is that each chapter starts with an advice column question addressed to either Sophie or her frenemy, Natasha. You can count on Sophie to give practical advice and answers while Natasha… well, I wouldn’t follow any of her advice. I always look forward to reading each question and answer for both the opportunity to learn something and to get a chuckle now and then.

While I’d suggest that “The Diva” books are character driven, Ms. Davis pens smartly plotted mysteries, full of intrigue and misdirection, to keep the armchair detective on their toes. The Diva Delivers On a Promise is no exception, and I found myself immersed in the story, turning page and page to find out what happens next. With subplots threaded throughout, the author does a marvelous job of bringing them all together at the end, answering all the questions, and delivering a highly satisfying conclusion.

Sophie is quite the consummate hostess—as are several of her acquaintances—and they treat their friends and guests to all sorts of yummy goodies. Be sure to check out the recipes at the back of the book!

I was provided with an advance copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This series is one that made me fall in love with reading cozy mysteries so when I get the chance to read the newest one, I'm anxious to read it.

Sophie is working a conference on Ghost Kitchens. That in itself was interesting enough for this read. But, of course there's a murder or two...no surprise there. The location is surprising and different which adds to the interest. Along with that, we have mysteries inside of mysteries. It's a fun read and kept me quite curious to the end.

On the personal side, we have all the friends there and Natasha who is so self involved all I can do is laugh at her.

I do have one request from Krista Davis. Whenever this series is set to end, I would love to see Sophie back with Mars. A simple request....

Sophie Winston and her friend Nina show up for a director's meeting for a charity for hungry children; unfortunately they and their hostess find a dead body in her dining room.
When the police think their friend Geraldine did the deed, Sophie starts investigating. She's also helping Geraldine's daughter-in-law host a Ghost kitchen conference. Sophie and her friends are concerned when all the clues lead back to Geraldine and her family.
I think these are great cozies, I like the characters and the mysteries are well written. We have character growth, important for those of us who love character driven novels. We also have dogs and recipes at the end. Overall, a great addition to the series.

Love the books in this series. Such a fun, cozy mystery that always holds my attention! Keeps me guessing!

Brava! Between googling tea cups and ghost kitchens, and trying to solve one whopper of a mystery, Sophie and the gang kept me busy! PS: I’m hoping with my fingers crossed that Sophie will find romance again, I know Krista Davis won’t make things too easy, but I’m hoping anyway.

I have loved this series from the beginning. I love the characters, the setting, the food...but, this one was a tad disappointing in the mystery department. I appreciated the insight into Wong's background and the fun of Nina and Sophie tailing people (with snacks!), but I felt there was just a hodgepodge of "mysteries" and none was the real focus. This installment felt like a Diva Mystery Light...the meat of a mystery wasn't there. Almost like a "in between" books installment.

That being said, I am still in love with the gang and will be back for the next installment.

I love this series, and this newest book doesn't disappoint. Sophie and her friends are involved in a murder again and also tangle with some scammers. I love these characters. They have developed over the years and feel like old friends now. The mysteries in this book were very clever and fooled me until the very end. I love the descriptions of Sophie's neighborhood; I wish I could visit. I'm glad the book includes recipes, because some of Sophie's dishes sound very appetizing. As always, I'm already looking forward to the next book in the series.
