"Stars to Light the Sky" by Dennis R. Crocker is a captivating tale that seamlessly weaves together elements of healing, hope, and love against a backdrop of suspense and danger. The story follows Daizon May, a former Special Forces soldier turned actor, who finds himself thrust into a whirlwind of events when he rescues a woman left for dead near his rural retreat in Maine.
As the woman, later identified as Amia, awakens from a coma with no memory of her past except for a pair of silver earrings bearing her name, the narrative unfolds into a journey of self-discovery and redemption for both protagonists. Their paths converge in a two-month psychiatric wellness program, where they not only find solace in each other's company but also confront the demons of their pasts.
Crocker skillfully develops the relationship between Daizon and Amia, infusing the narrative with palpable chemistry and tender moments that underscore the healing power of love. However, the looming threat of the person who left Amia for dead adds a layer of suspense and urgency to their budding romance, keeping readers on the edge of their seats until the very end.
Overall, "Stars to Light the Sky" is a compelling blend of romance, mystery, and thriller, propelled by well-drawn characters and a gripping plot. Crocker's evocative prose and deft storytelling make this novel a must-read for fans of heartwarming love stories with a twist of suspense.
A story about healing, hope, and love—oh, and the person who left her for dead!
It is one of those books that transports you making you forget about real life and full of delightful characters that spring to life.
Hooked instantly, intrigued by the suspense, and could not believe where this plot took me. I didn't love the way it was written, but boy did the story book me. Cannot imagine what this could have done with just a bit more added to the writing. I was so into it!
This book drew me in both with the cover (hello gorgeous) and the blurb. It sounded wholesome, heart wrenching and intriguing, and it was! It was a step out of my normal genre, and one I'm glad for. I do wish it had kept its pace consistently, I found it dragged on a bit in some parts and there were a few chapters I had to put down and try again to get through. The characters had beautiful growth, together and individually, and the twists and 'whodunit' caught me by surprise which I enjoyed because I went almost the entire time thinking I knew what was going on. This was a great book, and its clear the author took the time to research mental health and healing which makes it hit that much better.
An interesting plot which hooked me at the beginning, and it had some twists and turns.
Many thanks to Milo Lui & Ozie Pub and to Netgalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.
This book has potential and with a few edits it would be perfect. The plot is believable and the characters relateable with atmospheric settings and turns that you can't see coming.

Daizon May, a former Special Forces soldier turned actor, saves a woman left for dead on the edge of his rural escape in Maine. Days later, she wakes from a coma, the only clue to her identity, silver earrings with the name Amia etched within a heart.
To secure an upcoming role, Daizon commits himself to a two-month psychiatric wellness program. Hoping to regain her identity, Amia enters the same program, and sparks ignite between them as their minds heal. However, the person who left Amia for dead has plans, too, and they don’t include a happy-ever-after ending.
I got sucked into this story and I regret nothing. Fresh, unique, and amazing. I enjoyed the dynamic between Amia and Daizon. Cannot wait to read more from the author.
I found the story interesting and a bit difficult to read into. I started to enjoy it midway and wasn’t able to put it down. I would definitely recommend
I absolutely adored this book. Well written, the right pace and lots to enjoy. It had plenty of twists and turns
I tried I really did, but this would have benefited going through another round of editing because OH MY GOD pronouns exist and they are needed, especially in this book! one name was repeated at least 4 times per page which was horrible to read. Dnf'ed at 10%. It had some potential but I couldn't get past the writing style
So while I didn't hate the book entirely, I also didn't love it like I thought I would have. It was hard to get into and I truly don't think I completely did.
While the above is true, I did enjoy the characters and their paths to healing. I very much appreciate that it seemed like the author did research on mental health and learning to heal and love yourself.
Imagine you awaken in a hospital. You have no idea who you are. You are told you’ve been beaten within an inch of your life, and a young actor saved you. While invoking on a self healing journey you begin to fall for the man who gave you a second chance at life. Only you come to the realization that he may have played a part in your near death.
The beginning of this book really hooked me. It was fast paced and suspenseful. The middle seemed extremely repetitive and dragged on. I don’t mind 3rd person POV, but I personally felt like this book may have benefited from a dual POV. It is quite obvious the author has done his research with psychology and healing/self love. Towards the end of the book things began to pick back up and I could not put it down. I was able to figure out the mystery before it was revealed, but I still enjoyed the ending.
Interesting book from the start. Former Special forces soldier who is now an actor,Daizon May, found a gril badly beaten and unconscious on his property. He saved her life but she didn't remember anything about herself or her assault. Only her earrings indicated that her name is Amia. They both entered a wellness program and felt a connection. The person who is responsible for Amia's condition is dangerous and wanted to harm thrm both. It's their story of healing mentally and physically from their past experiences. Full of shocking twists and mystery it is an ntriguing novel. Characters are defined thoroughly. Mystery keeps you engaged till the end. Identity of the person who plotted all this is shocking. Overall, a good past time book which you can enjoy.
He found her on the shoreline near his property, beaten and left for dead. She didn’t know her name, but her earrings said “Amia”. Who would have wanted to kill her and did they believe she was dead when they left her? Daizon May, former special forces, now a working actor, called for help to try to keep her alive. He slowly realizes that someone wants him blamed for her death, but who and why? He signs up to attend the Whole Me Program to research a part for a film. When he arrives, Amia is there, but still trying to remember her past. Will he be able to help her recover her memories and will she finally remember who left her for dead? The beginning of the story was interesting as was the end, but in between, for me, it was confusing and took more effort to finish the story. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (paytonpuppy)

A big thank you to NetGalley and Black Rose Writing Publishing for allowing me to enjoy this book.
I found this book a bit difficult to get into, but about a third of the way in, I found myself being pulled into the story more and more. The plot was different than most of the book I’ve read and I really appreciated that. I loved the characters and the lives that were written for them. Daizon is the kind of character that is easy to daydream over and I love it!
I have never read anything from Dennis R. Crocker before, but I enjoyed this book. I will certainly be looking into more books written by him.
I received an ARC of this book via Netgalley in exchange for my honest review. While I did enjoy the storyline and the dynamic between the characters, I am not a fan of 3rd person writing so I found it hard to connect with. With that said, I thought I knew what was going on and who was responsible, the twists and turns took me by suprise!
