Short & sweet Christmas novella. Lexi comes home for Christmas expecting to attend her ex-fiancé’s funeral…only to find him very much alive! (Ok that part was odd). But the rest of the book was a quick easy romance read. Think small-town ‘Hallmark Christmas Movie.’ Thanks to NetGalley & the publishers for this ARC.
This is my first book by Michelle Cornish and I really enjoyed it. I found myself laughing out loud on several occasions and rooting for Lexi, the main character. Lexi hasn't been home for Christmas in a few years and her parents and best friend really want her to come this year. She hasn't wanted to come home since her ex fiancé, Ian, broke up with her at her best friend's wedding. They tell her that her ex, Ian, has died as they know she'll come home for the funeral. Lexi works as an agent to sports stars in LA. When Lexi arrives home she's met with a huge surprise! Her ex fiancé isn't dead and he's in church next to her!!! She's furious with her mother for lying to her!
Briar is Lexi's best friend and she's married to Dax. They own a Christmas tree farm that Briar's parents left to her. Business has been very slow and they're struggling. John has been helping them spruce things up and bought a couple of horses to start sleigh rides around the property. They've helped get people excited as well as a greenhouse filled with various flowers and plants to sell during the offseason. Lexi is visiting Briar and Dax when they receive a call about Dax's mom. She's had a heart attack and they need to get on a plane right away. Briar and Dax have recently bought a puppy who still has no name. They ask if Lexi could stay at the house while they're gone to take care of the puppy. Lexi agrees to stay as she's still furious with her mom.
Briar and Dax told Lexi that John would be coming by to work in the barn and do some things on the property. When Lexi meets John she's instantly drawn to him even though he's a bit older. John is healing from something in his past and the farm is where he comes to find peace. The puppy loves John and loves to play in the barn with him. Lexi has named the dog Prince William and she thinks the dog likes it. Will Lexi find happiness in Little City, her hometown? Will it be enough to keep her from returning to LA? Will John and Lexi end up together? Will Briar and Dax be able to turn the business around? I really like the characters in the book and wanted the book to go a bit longer to discover more about each. A sequel to this book would be a definite possibility and I would love to see that happen. I rate this book 4 stars and it will warm your heart. I'd like to thank NetGalley and SolVin Creative for an advanced copy of the book in exchange for a fair review.
This was a cute story of how a girls ex who she thought had died was really alive after all. And how they came back from the dead. This boo was approved by netgalley and the publisher for me to read and review
This was a quick holiday read, which I was grateful for since the protagonist annoyed me. She was whiny and selfish, and there is no way anyone would have fallen in love with her over this short period. The rest of the characters all seemed to be more likable than she was. There are apparently more books in this seasonal series, but I won't be looking them up.
This book was really rough. The concept sounds very interesting but was not executed well. The writing felt really rough and could use a bit more editing.
Lexi is a fast paced, workaholic girl who returns to her hometown under false pretenses. This sweet holiday themed story draws you in with Lexi’s “foot in the mouth” humor, family drama, and relatable characters. It was a quick read on a cold winters day!

In her holiday romance novella Warming My Winter Heart, Michelle Cornish follows publicist Lexi Blair and hardworking John Johnson.
Because John and Lexi scarcely interacted with one another yet nonetheless fell in love rather soon, I felt that this romance novella was unrealistic. Also, I didn't think there was any real chemistry between the two main characters because of the few interactions.
I will admit, though, that I admired John's frankness and his quick discernment of what he wanted.
In all, this was a pure fluff novella that was short and enjoyable!
*Thank you to SolVin Creative, and to the author, Michelle Cornish, for providing me with this e-arc in exchange for an honest review!*
This was a cute story! But it was way too short. This shouldn’t be counted as a finished work. It should be considered a short story because it was just too short. That’s my only complaint
I HATE giving negative feedback, but I simply did not like this book… at all.
I almost DNF at 50%, but figured it was such a quick read that I could keep going to see if anything ever happens. It should have been a sign that if nothing had happened at 50%, that if anything did happen it would be rushed.
I think what makes me mad is that this story had so much potential. If it was anything like the actual description, it would’ve been a really good book. However, the description was more details than any part of the book.
This should be considered an outline and not a completed work.
This was a very sweet holiday short story. After returning home for the holidays, Lexi finds that her ex-love interest is not dead, like everyone was saying, and is very much alive. Upset with everyone who lied, Lexi finds herself house and puppy-sitting for a friend at their farm. This leads to constant meetings with a friendly, and good-looking, farmhand who perhaps is looking to get cozy during the holidays.
This book is filled with sweet and funny moments between the perfectly imperfect main character Lexi, the silly puppy Prince William, and the sweet and handsome John.
Rating: 4.5 stars
Synopsis:
Lexi has been able to avoid her hometown ever since her bestie’s wedding. It should have been a joyous occasion except for the fact that her boyfriend Ian decided to break up with her by leaving her a note at her spot at the table. She thinks she’s over him but a message from her mom sends her in a tailspin. In this story, we follow Lexi on her emotional visit home over the holidays where a reunion with people from her past makes her question why she ran away to LA.
Review:
I absolutely loved this story. My only problem with it is that it is too short! I wanted to spend more time with Lexi and John and really get to see them fall in love. Their love story went by too fast for me. Other than that, I loved the tree farm ( I wish I got to read more about it too) and the horses. I could picture the sleigh ride and wished I could have taken the tour myself. Not exactly Christmassy vibes but there is cozy wintery descriptions that make up for it. I had so much fun reading this! It’s a great little holiday romance!

A sweet short coming home Christmas story wiith great characters and good writing a quick Sunday read.
This book is absolutely pure fluff, but in a very enjoyable way. It’s short and sweet. The shortness is a double-edged sword, as I really wish I got to learn more about some of the characters other than our protagonist, but it did make it a lovely speedy read. Overall, it felt like a hallmark Christmas movie to me: Sweet, Enjoyable, and made me smile (and maybe swoon a little bit for our hometown hunk character).
What a cute, sweet, quick little Christmas novella. It had a Hallmark movie feel, in the best way. Successful woman visits her small home town from the big city and falls in love with the farmhand. The relationship was fast but the happy ending was sweet.
4/5 stars! Quick, sweet, and sassy holiday read! Lexi is the typical "makes all the wrong choices" FMC, but I found her endearing nonetheless. I was super frustrated with her mother and her ex. The choices in that early part of this story just had me pissed off. But the story transitions into your hallmark holiday romance and we get to see a HEA in a short read.
