I listened to the audio version of this book narrated by Jason Clark and Stella Bloom. I really enjoyed the narration and feel like it added to the book.

This was an age gap/kind of forbidden romance. The forbidden part was at the very beginning when Harley (a nanny) tries to kiss her boss who is ten years older than she is. They go their separate ways right after and meet up about eight years later. They spend time together because of Peyton, Gavin's daughter...at least that's what they say.

There's more going on in this book. There's dealing with the death of a spouse, single parenthood, an interfering MIL, a job that isn't all it should be, and a lot of unsettled moments all around. Gavin's character is screaming out for a good counselor and Harley really needs to learn to stand up for herself. Sometimes those two things were frustrating, but it was worth the read. I really enjoyed it!

Thanks to Macmillan Audio, Social Butterfly PR and NetGalley for the gifted copy. All thoughts are my own.

This was another great Spark house book. The themes were great and I really enjoyed seeing these characters grow throughout the books. The plot was witty and kept me entertained throughout the book. I recommend for any Rom Com lover.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for a copy to honestly review.

What a cute book!!!

I’ve read this book in two sittings. First with the physical copy, and then with the audiobooks. Both great!

The kind of book that works as a palate cleanser in between heavy books. You know, the kind of romance that is light, filled with cuteness and drama.

What I liked:
We have a single dad in the story and I feel like we don't see that a lot. And what a swoony dad Gavin is, oh my.
This is book # 3 of a series and it can easily be read as a standalone. I love that!
The family drama and the important subjects it touches, oof! Boundaries, forgiveness, and love.

Back to Spark House for another romance and Harley getting her own story.

I really liked how the plot was set up with this one by the flashback of Harley being Petyton's nanny after Gavin's wife died in childbirth. Gavin, Harley and Peyton reconnect years later at a birthday party and the friendship/romance blossoms from there.

This book deals with a lot of emotional baggage due to Marcy's death and how various people handle it. Harley and Gavin definitely have that firey romance, but it often gets interrupted by Peyton or derailed by a not so accepting mother in law. Our couple usually handles the interruptions quite well.

Gavin is definitely a fun single dad that doesn't mind dressing up with his little girl and isn't afraid of all things glitter. With all the emotions going on, it was nice that he wasn't a super mopey character. I liked seeing Harley in a different/serious light too in this book beyond just the fun little sister.

Thank you to MacMillan Audio and Netgalley for providing me a copy of this ARC for my honest review.

The only thing that bugged me slightly in this book was Peyton's age. To me it seems like she was more like a 6/7 year old instead of 9 based on how she acted. Maybe I just have a super mature 9 year old daughter.

I really liked that this book dealt with issues way beyond just the romance aspect. It was also nice to see how Avery and London's lives were going too, but this book would have been good read by itself. Another good book in the series!

I LOVED this book, and definitely will go back and read the first two!
You could read it as a standalone, but I'm curious about the other Spark sisters' stories.

7 years ago, Harley Spark almost kisses the widowed father of the little girl she nannied for. They immediately move across the state, and lose all communication. Now, a twist of fate has brought Gavin & Peyton back into her life again. Harley loves spending time with this adorable 9-year old girl, and can't help but take notice of her swoon-worthy dad.
Aside from these relationships, we see Harley with her sisters and the business they run together.
Everyone in the story is figuring out how to deal with the past, and what they want for their futures.

I listened to the audiobook version and really enjoyed both narrators. I was drawn to Harley as a character, probably since I'm a former teacher and have always loved working with kids my whole life.

Read/listen if you enjoy:
⭐️ Single dad
⭐️ Age gap
⭐️ Friends to lovers
⭐️ Dual POV/first person

I've been a fan of Helena Hunting since her years on Fanfiction, she was one of my auto alerts 15ish years ago for Twilight fanfiction. That story turned into a published book with Clipped Wings. All of this to say - she is someone I will always want to read.

I didn't realize until I was already at the half way point that 'Make a Wish' wasn't a standalone and a part of a series - but it's a series in the a best way possible that I didn't feel like I was missing anything by not having read the stories of the sisters. (but now I want to read them too!)

This was a 4 star review for me until the last few chapters when it moved to a 5 star. At first, while I love Helena
Hunting's books, I was a little worried about the cliche nanny/dad theme. BUT - while that is the beginning point, the emotional journey and growth that Helena Hunting takes her characters through is so good. She doesn't shy away from addressing the hardship of the relationship when emotions of a child are involved, not letting go of trauma and pain from the past, in-laws, and the push and pull of wanting change but not always being emotionally able for that change. In addition to all of that; she does have a few, small, spicy moments (not as many as a typical Helena Hunting book, but still "open door" romance). Make a Wish was the story of the individual growth of Harley and Gavin as individuals, Gavin and Peyton has a father/daughter, Harley and Gavin as a couple, and Harley, Gavin, and Peyton as a new family. I liked how their was room for all of these journeys in addition to the romance - Helena Hunting is awesome again!

Make a Wish by Helena Hunting

3rd book in the Spark House series

Thanks @netgalley @helenahunting @macmillonaudio @jasonclarke @stellabloom for the chance to listen to an ALC and share my candid review—all opinions are my own.

Overall Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (0-5) Story 4 (I think. But I struggle with “spouse died” trope) & audiobook narration 🎧🎧🎧🎧🎧(0-5)
Steam: 🔥🔥🔥 (0-5)

And, it’s turquoise, Helena Hunting, and Spark House book 3, so my physical copy is on its way to me soon!

What I’m Starry-Eyed Over:
🤩 The audiobook narration was fantastic. The narrator’s voices—perfect cast & I could hear and feel the change of emotions at the right times.
🤩 I especially liked how Gavin’s POV didn’t come in until 19%. I got goosebumps when Jason Clarke’s voice first started!!
🤩 The Spark sisters—so much love for this beautiful family. You might want to read/listen to Avery and London’s stories first just to appreciate them fully when they perfectly show up at every turn in Harley’s story.
🤩 Princess birthday party—Spark house events add much comedy to these books.
🤩 Chuck E Cheese and zoo adventures with adorable Peyton, daughter of single dad MC Gavin.
🤩 The forearms, rolled up dress shirts, & physical attraction is scrumptious. Plus, that prize-winning first kiss.
🤩 The bond between Peyton and Harley is precious and intimate plus lots of crafty, glittery fun!
🤩 I melt anytime the delicious Mills’ brothers show up—if you haven’t read Helena’s Shacking Up series, you really should go read about them.
🤩 I am so glad there was family therapy mentioned at the end.

What I’m Wishing/ Dizzy About:
💫 A slight love triangle—but it was so tastefully done.
💫 “Spouse died” trope drama is tough for me. Add in-laws and yikes. I thought the seven years apart for healing was really going to help me get over this trope. I loved Harley more and more through all the ups and downs. But Gavin, not so much. He needed way more therapy—an honest best friend probably wasn’t enough for the guilt Gavin has.

I simply loved this book! I was fortunate enough to get an early listener's copy of Make Wish ( thank you, Helena and SMP!)

Harley's story is one I've been waiting on, even knowing this is the end of the series. Series ending books are always bittersweet for me because I've become invested in their fictional lives and never want the stories to end!
The Spark sisters are truly special and so tight-knit. Their love for each other shines throughout the series.

Book starts off with a prologue of Harley at 20 yrs old and a nanny for sweet baby Peyton and her recently widowed father, Gavin. One night, Harley is trying to comfort Gavin, and things get awkward. The next thing she knows he's moving back home to raise Peyton with his inlaws, and she questions her life choices.
Fast forward to present day, and Spark House is growing by leaps and bounds, which leaves Harley feeling unnecessary.

While hosting a birthday party at SH, she reconnects with Gavin and 9 yr old, Petyon. There's an instant connection for them all. However, not everything is glitter paint and cupcakes!

Helena chose the right voices for these characters! Jason Clarke as Gavin was perfect with his gravely voice, especially during those scenes that were so full of emotions. Stella Bloom, with her sweet and young sounding voice, who not only gave voice to Hayley but to Peyton as well.

Prepare your hearts for some tear jerking chapters, laughs, personal growth for all the main characters, and the best ending to the book and series.

Super cute story! Definitely my favorite book this series. This is a second chance , single dad (widower) romance and I was here for it. I definitely loved the relationship between Gavin and Harley, and Harley's relationship with Peyton. I have to admit I'm not a huge fan of the dead spouse trope but this once is done very well and you can definitely feel how much Gavin loves Harley. The epilogue is awesome. The audiobook narrated by Jason Clarke is all sorts of amazing! Definitely recommend!

This was my first audiobook formatted book I’ve read for NetGalley and I’ll say it was really was a great one to start with. This isn’t my first book by Helena Hunting and I do enjoy her writing style.

The story between Gavin and Haley is one where a lot of Gavin’s past sits in the center of his relationship with Haley. Haley is a super calm personality and that really is felt as I listened to this story unfold. Gavin is a single father, who lost his wife when his daughter was born. This story is all about finding a way to forgive oneself, along with opening one’s heart to love again—which is exactly what Gavin faces as his love for Harley grows. I enjoyed the dynamic between the characters and how Haley began to stand up for herself as I turned the pages. I enjoyed this one and it makes me want to pick up the rest of the series to hear how the Spark sisters do in the previous books.

Make a Wish is the third book in the Spark House trilogy which I have enjoyed although this is not my favorite. The plot is easy to follow; twenty-year-old Harley Spark is the nanny to toddler, Peyton Rhodes, daughter of widower Gavin Rhodes. Gavin’s wife died in childbirth, and he is still grieving. One night during a shared moment she almost kisses him and the next thing she knows they have moved away.

Seven years later Harley has given up her degree in childhood education and now works for Spark House, the family hotel when Gavin and his daughter show up to a child’s birthday party. They reconnect and start meeting for lunch so Peyton can get reacquainted with Harley. You can probably see where this is going.

Things move along at a fair pace and soon they are a couple, but their relationship hits a few speedbumps including Gavin’s former mother-in-law who disapproves of Harley and Gavin’s parenting. When things go wrong, Gavin takes it out on Harley, and she realizes that before they can move forward in this relationship, they both have old wounds to heal.

This book didn’t have the “spark” that I expected, and I kept getting annoyed with Harley’s passiveness and Gavin’s lack of backbone. Of course, it got better towards the end as they reached for their HEA.

I “read” this book via audiobook courtesy of NetGalley and the publisher, Macmillan Audio, and thank them for the opportunity to listen to this in exchange for my honest opinion. I am familiar with both narrators, Jason Clarke and Stella Bloom, who have long been favorites of mine and brought the characters to life in a way that made sense for the personalities. I gave the book three stars.

It's been years since I've read anything by Helena Hunting and I read and re-read that Pucked series like it was a lifeline.

I will start this by saying that I haven't read the other books in this series, although I probably will, now that I know the characters. I think that if you like Helena Hunting before you'll like this as well. It\s a pretty serviceable romance, where your main characters are flawed to an extent, but not overly so. The single dad trope will always be a fun read for me, although I think the one thing I was missing was that "oh holy hell she's really beautiful" moment from Jason Clark's voice that would have totally done it for me.

An excellent listen and do recommend.

After reading about the eldest spark sister, Avery, in When Sparks Fly, and the middle sister, London, in Starry-Eyed Love, I was very excited to find out what will happen with the youngest sister, Harley, in Make a Wish. The story opens with Harley as the nanny to Peyton, who is the daughter of widower, Gavin Rhodes, whose wife died in childbirth. Still dealing with grief, Gavin and Peyton move to Boulder from Colorado Springs and Harley expects to never see them again and will miss them greatly after being the nanny for almost a year and a half. Seven years later, Gavin and Peyton, who is now almost ten, run into Harley, who is now 25, as she and her sisters are hosting a birthday party at Spark House, their event center.

When Gavin and Harley interact, it is apparent that there is chemistry between them. Peyton also has a clear bond with Harley, and I love how excited they get when they see each other again. While Gavin and Harley are both unsure, at first about spending time together, they clearly had an attraction to each other, and it was well-written. Now there are a lot of obstacles before the two could be together, especially considering that Harley has been dating Chad for a few months. The story is told through dual POV, so the reader can see each side of the story and issues that could stand in their way before anything could be officially romantic between them.

Harley has a lot going on in her own life along with her trying to find her place at Spark House. There are some callbacks to developments with this establishment and the other two sisters from the other two novels, but a reader could understand it all if they read this as a standalone. With her and Gavin mostly spending time together with Peyton at the center, there were moments where I wanted more time with just the two of them. I could see a romance between Gavin and Harley, but it was, at times, difficult to not view it as it was a connection of convenience because they both are together with Peyton. Overall, though, it was enjoyable, and I love the emotions and growth that were explored throughout the story. After seeing Harley as a secondary character in the other two stories with her sisters, it was amazing to finally see her find some happiness for herself. I am not sure if there will be more in this series as each sister had their own, but I look forward to reading more from the author in the future.

**I give a special thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this enjoyable novel. The opinions expressed are completely my own.**

I truly loved this book. I had never read one of Hunting's book before, but after listening to this, I immediately downloaded the other two audiobooks in the series. I loved the characters and the character ARCs. While I loved the sisters in their own books, I felt like the change in them was very drastic. They were overbearing, to a point where I didn't enjoy them at all. And while I loved the female narrator, I did struggle with the male, but it's a personal choice, not because he was bad. But I loved Harley as a character, and her development with his daughter was adorable and natural. Overall, I will definitely recommend this book and the series as a whole.

4.5/5 (rounded up to 5)

CW: death of a spouse, death of both parents, death during childbirth, car accident (recounted), physical injury (ankle sprain), grief/loss

I would like to thank NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for providing me with a free audio e-ARC of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Harley Spark is mortified to find the dad whose daughter she used to nanny at her family’s event hotel, Spark House, dressed as a fairy princess…Who she has not seen in seven years after an almost kiss and a move across the state. Now, at Gavin’s daughter’s insistence, Harley finds herself coming back into the picture for Gavin and Peyton. Meanwhile, Harley and Gavin wonder if they can rekindle a missed connection.

Make a Wish has had me feeling the feels since the prologue and Hunting has written a lovely conclusion to the Spark House series. Focusing on the youngest Spark sister, Harley is such a beautifully written character and I really liked getting to know her better throughout the book. I also really like Gavin in this book and I really think that they’re good together. You can feel their chemistry and they’re both so likable that you want to root for them until the end.

Since I listened to the audiobook version, I think you get a more intimate illustration of this story with the narrators that were casted. I absolutely loved Stella Bloom’s narration in this book with giving Harley a whimsical quality to her voice and creating interestingly distinct voices to each of the characters of the book when the chapters are on Harley’s POV.

Jason Clarke was good, but I do have some critiques. While Gavin’s voice does have a warm and cozy feel to it, I don’t feel like his voice matched the character. The reason why I say that is because Clarke has Gavin sound a lot older than he was supposed to be (for context: Gavin is in his mid-30s in the book and Clarke has Gavin sound like he’s in his 50s). I also felt like Clarke had a bit of a hard time with separating the voices of the male characters since they kind of all sound the same. Though, I personally enjoyed Clarke’s voice for Gavin’s mother-in-law.

Overall, Make a Wish is a heartwarming rom-com with such emotional depth and that same depth is equally displayed in this audiobook production. Trust me on this one and get an enhanced reading experience with the audiobook version.

This book synopsis sounded promising. I was excited to listen. I really enjoyed the narrators for Harley and Gavin's character . Unfortunately, it drove me bananas when the narrator for Gavin would do the daughter, Peyton's, voice.

Overall, I enjoyed the first half of the story but the second half stalled out. I thought Peyton's character seemed immature for her age and I just kept thinking that a 9 year wouldn't really act or say that.

Make a Wish is the third book in Helena Hunting’s Spark House Sisters series. This book highlights the youngest sister, Harley Spark. Raised by their grandmother Spark when their parents were lost to an auto accident, the three girls took over the event venue and inn when their grandmother retired a few years back. In that time, they had grown the business, her older sisters, Avery and London, had not only led them forward but they had also married bringing forth all sorts of opportunities and changes, including the franchising of the business under the careful ministrations of London’s husband.

Harley had been feeling a bit lost in the business. She had put her own education on hold to play a role at Spark House, but now there was a whole IT team to lean on. Then her kids birthday parties were phased out since it barely broke even, and she is now floundering. But at the last birthday party held, Harley reconnects with her charge from 8 years ago when she was working as a nanny. Peyton Rhodes is nearly 10 now. She and her widowed father Gavin have recently moved back to Colorado Springs from Boulder. When they made the move to Boulder, Harley lost her position as live in nanny, a position she had held since Peyton’s birth as Peyton’s mother was lost in childbirth.

Reconnecting with Gavin, and Peyton, opens up a lovely story albeit fraught with hurdles. However, learning how to cope with these hurdles leads a quiet Harley to advocate for what she really wants, in business and in life. This is another very good story in this sweet series. I very m

4.5 Stars
This is such a fun, uplifting, smart story. While it deals with a heavy topic, it manages to also be light and heart warming. This story has all the feels, but most of all I was left smiling and with a warm feeling inside when I listened to the last word.

Harley and Gavin are interesting and well-developed characters. Peyton, while a child, brings so much to both the main characters and the story. I loved the sibling relationships and the parent child ones. The romance was sweet and hot and romantic. The secondary characters each added to the fabric of the story. I very much enjoyed the epilogue, though I wished for more of it.

I listened to this story on audio and enjoyed the narrators. At times it was tough figuring out which female character was speaking, but overall I enjoyed the narrators.

Trigger warning: the story deals with grief – due to the loss of a spouse and parents.

Due to the triggers, I would suggest that if you are on your own grief journey that you read this book when your in a good place. It’s a good story, but the topic and conversations that are depicted in the book will tap into those feelings that you are all to familiar with. (I’m on my own grief journey and this story pulled at my heart and emotions in so many ways – all good and relatable).

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

If there was a way to give this book more than 5 stars I would. I listened to the audiobook version via NetGalley. Stella Bloom and Jason Clarke narrated this charming story of heartbreak, loss, and how love can make the difference.
Two people meet under the worst of circumstances bound together by their love of an motherless girl. This story follows them through all of their failures and victories. It shows how loving each other for all of the right reasons is more powerful than anything. You can overcome the worst with the people you love by your side.
This is such a wonderful story. I LOVE the ending. It is PERFECT! I want to read it again and I just finished it!
