Loved Harley's story. Nanny-ish/Second Chance/Age Gap
Harley is just the way you have come to known her in the other stories. She wants to take care of everyone else even if it is at the expense of her own happiness. She meets up with Gavin and his daughter Peyton that she used to care for when she was a baby. Gavin has been dealing with a lot of tragedy and balancing everyone's interests so they were a suitable pairing in that regard. Harley's relationship with Peyton was one of my favorite parts of the story. And the transformation that we see with Harley asking for the things she wants/deserves. With 2 assertive sisters, she had a tendency to get lost. Gavin had to make some changes and he realized what his priorities should be and took control. This was the perfect ending to the Spark Sisters. Listened this on audio book and I was really pleased with it. Some of my favorite narrators.

Harley Spark along with her older sisters London and Avery run Spark House an event center and boutique hotel. When she was19 she was the live in nanny for Gavin and his infant daughter Peyton after his wife died during childbirth. They moved away to be by other family and she is Harley is surprised sees Gavin and Peyton attending an event. Harley is kind and kid loving and welcomes the chance to go to lunch or the zoo to help Peyton adjust from her move back to Colorado Springs. Of course there is attraction between she and Gavin but it complicated by the logistics of dating a person with a child and Gavin’s guilt about his wife’s passing.

This is the third in the Spark House series with each sister getting her romance. I loved Harley. She is articulate and mature beyond her years from losing her parents at a young age. I got weary of her guilt over an almost kiss a decade and was glad when that finally went away from the storyline. I was as invested when she finally speaks up for herself with her sisters as I was when she makes a stand with Gavin. I liked Gavin and how the author makes you see there aren’t always easy answers. Being a single father there is a lot of baggage that he hasn’t dealt with. I enjoyed this was open door and there is time to explore the heat between Gavin and Harley. Honestly, I thought Harley would be perfect for anyone, but am happy for their HEA. I confessed the epilogue moved me, which I wasn’t expecting for a contemporary romance.

I listened to the audio book and really enjoyed the narration by Stella Bloom. She could have done the whole book on her own as she does Gavin’s voice well. But I liked the duel narration where Jason Clarke covers the chapters that are from Gavin’s POV.

I enjoyed this so much I already grabbed the first two books from the series from my library. Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for an audiobook in exchange for an honest review. (4.5 Stars)

Is it possible to compete with a ghost or is it possible for the one you love to set the ghost free enough to make room for you? This sweet romance is the 3rd in the Spark House series and definitely continues on with the heartfelt, overcoming past hurts, sweet romances that we have come to know and love in this series. I love that each book builds the characters out just that much more and continues the entire cast of characters unique and individual side stories as well. This could definitely be the final book, making a wonderful trilogy but as the Spark House cast is a wide and diverse group of people and characters there are ample opportunities for the romance to continue! As with the other books, the dual narration on the audio book amplifies the story and makes it all that much more real! I will definitely be looking for more books from this author!

Book three in the Spark House series. Works as a stand alone.

Former nanny Harley is feeling a bit lost at Spark House. As the company grows, she seems to be losing all of her roles. Her favorite thing, birthday parties, are ending. At her last party, she is surprised when her former charge and her widower father show up after moving back to town. Harley was attracted to Gavin when she cared for Peyton as an infant. He invites her to lunch to catch up with them (Gavin and Peyton). Harley realizes the attraction is still there, but Gavin doesn't feel the same. Plus, their lives are complicated. Harley has a boyfriend. Gavin has a meddling mother in law.

I really liked this one- it is probably my favorite of the series. My only complaint- which keeps me from absolutely loving it- is Peyton. Peyton is 9, almost 10, for most of the book. Yet she is basically written as a 4-5 year old. Most kids do not want a princess dress up party for their 10th birthday. They are well past that. There are other aspects that make her way too young to be 9. Like, I get that she needed to be 9 for the timeline. But she didn't have to act like a 5 year old.

The audiobook is narrated by Jason Clarke and Stella Bloom. They can always been counted on for a great narration.

I love this series so very much. Every installment is so different but with the same connections of sisters and family. I can’t wait to see what this author has next.

This audiobook was amazing. Both narrators do a great job.

I not only wanted this book because of who wrote it, but because of Jason and Stella. I adore both of these narrators and they nailed it as Gavin and Harley. There’s an ease to their voices that make it enjoyable to listen to them and their cadence complement each other. They were able to make the funny moments extra entertaining and the steamy moments spicy without being cringy.

I enjoyed the foundation that was built between Gavin and Harley. Their chemistry felt natural despite the large age gap between them. Their story felt authentic because of how grounded they both were. The author catered this story to both Gavin’s and Harley’s personality and interest making a unique story. Having the theme of family at the center of this story and showing different definitions of that will help this story resonate with any reader.

Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for the ALC I’m exchange for an honest review.

Make a Wish was my favorite book in Helena Hunting's latest trilogy, The Spark House series. Make a Wish is a nanny/single dad romance with a twist. Almost ten years ago, Harley was Gavin's nanny for his daughter Payton after the loss of his wife. Although they have some chemistry, Gavin moves away before anything can happen. Almost a decade later he and his daughter are back in town, and despite the odds being against them their spark is rekindled. With lots of ups and downs between boyfriends, meddling grandparents, and work drama this book is entertaining and fun! I cannot wait to read more books by Helena Hunting. TW: loss of a spouse/ mother during childbirth, manipulative parents/grandparents, disordered eating commentary. 3.5/5

In this third Spark House novel, Helena Hunting delivers Harley’s story. This single dad, age gap, second chance, kind-of, sort-of friends-to-lovers romance is my favorite of the three.

Harley is bubbly and full of life, good with kids, and the peacekeeper. Seven years after she almost kissed the widowed father of her former charge, said father (Gavin) and his now nine-year-old daughter (Peyton) move back into town and cross paths with Harley. And well, Harley being Harley, she offers to help reacquaint Peyton with the area and to smooth the family’s transition back to town. Set this against the backdrop of changes going on at Spark House, and you have a recipe for romance with a large helping of family dynamics added in.

I listened to the audiobook version and enjoyed how Stella Bloom captures Harley’s magic, creativity, and upbeat personality. Jason Clarke’s narration brings Gavin’s alternating roles of father, friend, and romantic partner to life. I delighted in returning to the Spark House universe through their dual narration.

I received an advance copy of the audiobook from Macmillan Audio and NetGalley. All review opinions are my own.

Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for the opportunity to read and review this book.

I really enjoyed this one! Easy 5 stars! There was laughing and crying and frustrations but it was all so wonderfully written.

Make A Wish is the story of a single dad navigating life as a widow with an infant. Insert Nanny Harley who helps Gavin raise Peyton for just over a year when things get complicated. After an almost kiss Gavin picks up and moves away leaving Harley behind and feeling confused and rejected. Seven years later Gavin and Peyton move back and by chance run into Harley again. Peyton immediately wants to get to know Harley again, for now all her memories are from pictures when Harley took care of her when she was a baby. Gavin, wanting Peyton to have some support and normal in her life after the move, invites Harley to get together a few times to hang out with Peyton. Then, of course, feelings start happening. It's going well until everyone realizes Gavin hasn't dealt with the loss of his wife, his mother in law hasn't either and she's trying to sabotage every relationship Gavin tries to have. You'll have to read it to hear how it all works out. HEA guaranteed but the ride is worth the read.

Harley has one regret from her time as Peyton’s nanny…that she almost kissed Peyton’s dad, Gavin at one of his lowest points. Gavin and Peyton moved away and Harley went on with her life working at Spark House with her sisters and while she loved working with them, all the changes at Spark House left her wondering where she really fit. Seven years later, Gavin and Peyton come back to town and attend an event at Spark House and they reconnect with Harley. Peyton is ecstatic because she remembers Harley from the pictures in all of her books and immediately makes her dad start inviting Harley to hang out with them all the day.

Gavin and Harley start spending a lot of time together and they are both wondering if the feelings they both had all those years ago are still there. Harley is scared to compete with Peyton’s late mother and Gavin is scared to let someone new in.

I thought this story was super cute. I can relate to Harley not sure where her place is in a family business. The chemistry between Gavin and Harley was coming off the pages and the way that Peyton loved Harley like a mom was so precious. Oh my heart…this was so sweet!

I didn’t know this was part of a series, but it worked beautifully as a stand alone novel.

Peyton, Harley and Gavin are the most perfect little trio to ever be written about! I adored this story, loved the characters, the story and the open dialogue they all shared. The conflict with Gavin’s MIL Karen was also really well done. It provided the perfect amount of conflict and strife, but the arc of getting to the happy ending felt real, raw and believable!

When you need a sweet story, pick this up!

Return to Spark House 💖

Yes, always for all the stories.

I love these sisters and all their stories but Harley’s has definitely been my favorite. It is emotional and fun and full of sparkle. Gavin and Harley both have had tragic back stories but definitely go on this journey and see if they overcome all they have face..

**and Payton!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for the chance to read and review this book.

I’ve really enjoyed this whole series but I’m torn whether this or book one is my favorite. I love the single dad trope apparently!

I really enjoyed the slow build of friendship to more between Gavin and Harley. I adored Peyton and the relationship she has with Harley. I liked seeing Avery and London and how their stories have progressed. There were funny and angsty moments and some steam!

I listened to the audiobook and the narration was great!

This was good.

I've really enjoyed this series and getting to see each of the sisters find their place in Spark House. I love that while they are all running the family business they're sure to find things that are important or special to them as individuals.

I liked the concept of this book; a young nanny almost kissing her boss before he abruptly moves away only for them to bump into each other years later. I just found that the family drama was a little much for me. I understand that there are a lot of unresolved emotions all around in this story but at the same time I don't think that excuses the behaviour of certain family members in this book.

The romance itself was cute and as always the writing is well done. Audiobook narration was also great.

Overall, it was a nice conclusion to the series.

Harley’s embarrassment right off the bat was palpable and so relatable! I have a love/hate relationship with the single dad trope, but this one I actually liked a lot because it was SO realistic! Gavin and Harley navigating their feelings with a spunky kid thrown in made for a very interesting and heartwarming story!

This is the third installment of the Spark House series. I've enjoyed all three--especially the first--and this one was just as good. I'm sad to come to the end of these sisters' stories!

Harley's character honestly stood on her own. I really loved her growth throughout the book as she figured out what she wanted to do with her life and how to speak up for herself. Her relationship with Peyton was really special.

I don't mind age gap in general, but I didn't love the pairing between this widower and his former nanny. The author did her best to make it not icky, though! The age gap wasn't that significant and many years had passed since Gavin was Harley's employer.

The audiobook production was great as always. I don't recognize the names Jason Clarke and Stella Bloom, but both narrators fit their characters well.

This one is a delightful romance! It’s the third book in the Spark House series and is wonderful. I picked this one up out of order and was happy to discover that reading and enjoying this one was not contingent on enjoying the others. Though I would recommend doing so as this one was great!

When Harley was young, she nannied a baby, Peyton, who has a single dad. Peyton’s mom died during childbirth. One night, Gavin and Harley almost kiss. Gavin then uproots his life and moves, leaving Harley wondering if it was because of her. Now seven years have passed Gavin and Peyton return. As Gavin and Harley’s circles overlap, they slowly grow closer, until a relationship has blossomed. Will they be able to navigate the baggage they have in their pasts to move forward?

I listened to the audio of this one and really enjoyed the dual narration – both voice actors did a fantastic job. I really enjoyed Peyton’s character. I have a little girl who is into glitter and tutu’s just as much as she is, and I loved that I could relate. I did find it annoying that for a 9-year-old her father treated her like she was 3 in some instances, but with what he went through it was understandable. I enjoyed how the relationship between Harley and Gavin worked out and developed. It was deliciously wholesome and realistic.

I am so thankful to MacMillan Audio, @macmillanaudio, and @netgalley for allowing me early access to this audio book in exchange for this honest review. This one is out on January 24th so make sure to pre-order your copy now!

Quick Summary: Perfectly perfect in every way

My Review: Where do I begin?! Make a Wish by Helena Hunting was everything a romance should be. Truly! I enjoyed every aspect of my listening experience.

My Final Say: I cannot imagine anyone not enjoying this story. It was incredibly rich and meaningful. This book, quite honestly, deserves greater than 5 stars.

Special Remarks: Make a Wish was so good that I want to send a thank you note to the author. This book just clicked so perfectly that I am grateful to have had a chance to review it. Bravo, Ms. Hunting. Well done!
