At first I thought this may be the end of this series for me. The second book was too over the top that I was a little frustrated at the end, AND the beginning of this novel was boring - I kept getting distracted. However, by the end I could not put it down. So I guess I can say I enjoyed it. The first book was by far the best so far.

The dynamic duo is back! I was laughing so hard from chapter 1! I love how the author ties hunt and mystery and creates the best stories. Finlay gets into the most trickiest situations, but always finds a way out. I have been a fan since book 1 and this book was truly icing on the cake!

I jumped back and forth between print and audio. I loved this one just as much as the previous two from Cosimano. With flawed but loveable characters and a non stop plot, it was the perfect book to curl up with on a snow day.

Finlay Donovan is once again pulled into another intriguing, fast paced mystery. She is witty and funny, everything you love to see in Finlay's world.

All of our main characters return, as we continue to see where Finlay's family, friends, love interests and corrupt influences take her in this next installment.

Another highly entertaining installment in the Finlay Donovan "Reluctant Detective" series!

Finlay and Vero get to go on a civilian policy training course. Shooting a gun was the LEAST of their problems. Both Nick Anthony AND Julian Baker are thrown back into the romantic mix. No spoilers here!

The action-packed "not so final" finale to this installment kept you at the edge of your sea!

Well, for sure there is going to be a fourth installment because there were a ton of loose ends dangling precariously everywhere you looked!

I'm rating this very well narrated audiobook a 4 out of 5 entertaining stars.
My thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for an ARC of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

Not my favorite of the series unfortunately. I think this book benefited and was held back by the time frame, because not a lot happened compared to the first two books and so it allowed for some more character development, but still not a lot happened and I still feel like the characters were pretty one dimensional.

As always I couldn't put this down. I was sitting and waiting for this one too came out because of how the last one ended.

I mean Finlay and Vero's situation is wild and is just getting wilder. Finlay has to find out whose person is blackmailing a mob boss - meanwhile Vero's past has caught up with her.

Nick Finlay a new man who wants to be with her meanwhile she has so many secrets and is scared to move forward. Meanwhile, her second book needs to be completed and she is having issues with some of the characters and certain scenes

Narrator Angela Dawe has done a great job with all the characters - there are a lot of players in this book and she can get the distinct characters down and the different emotions.

I love this series and I can; believe I am still interested but I can't wait for the new book

Just going to be honest that my review may be unfair because i did not listen to the first two books in the series. In a lot of contexts and book series, that's fine--you might miss a few references but NBD. In this book, though, it just never ended up making full sense because of how much of the book had started, i assume, in book 2. Was this my fault for jumping into a series? MAYBE but i don't want you to suffer the same fate i did! Anyway the characters were fine i guess but there was a wild number of them, not really introduced because i should have already known them, doing a lot of things in a caper i only sort of got. So i spent the whole time slightly out of it (i re-listened to part even--which i never do--to be like, wait can i fill in the blanks by paying better attention? NO I CANNOT).

Also i liked the narrator but she seemed lightly irish-canadian which i don't think the characters were but who knows i don't know any of their back stories anyway!

Elle Cosimano continues with the 3rd Finlay Donovan series. In this one, we still follow the dynamic duo as they take part of a citizen’s police while trying to uncover the identity of the contract killer. A task that she isn’t able to decline because she owes Feliks, the mob leader, a favor. On top of that, Finlay needs to turn in her next book to her editor.

I did audiobook and followed along with my book. I have been excited to read this one. The dark humor and the besties left an impression on me from book 1 and 2 so had to continue on with the 3rd. The series still is a bit over the top but that is part of its charm and what draws you in. Mayhem happens and somehow Finlay and Vero are always involved. While I enjoyed Jumps the Gun, it seemed to be missing the page turning magic that was found in the first book. At times, I had a hard time keeping track of who was who and struggled to get pass the middle. Once I got through that, the book really picked up and got exciting. The twist and the identity of Easy Clean (contract killer) was a true surprise. Great ending that leaves a cliffhanger for the 4th installment.

Even though the audiobook was amazing, I would still definitely recommend reading this series in order from book 1 in order to keep things straight and to avoid confusion.

Finlay Donovan is back again in the third installment of the series. I listened to the audiobook and loved the narrators! They brought the story to life and was so much fun to listen to. I really enjoyed this. I loved the dynamic between Finlay and Vern they are hilarious!

Finlay finds herself in the middle of a huge mess when she is asked by a Russian mob boss to perform an impossible task. Finlay and Vero attend lessons on handling and shooting guns and get in tons of trouble a long the way.

Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun is available January 31,2023

Which book out of the series was your favorite?

Thank you netgalley and macmillianaudio for this arc in exchange for my honest review.

This third book in the Finlay Donovan world is a fun and funny read and the ending makes me excited to read the next book in the series - which is always a good way to end a book. These characters remind me of Lucille Ball - always having funny and crazy things happen as a result of non-malicious actions. You do not have to read these books in order to enjoy them as enough details are provided without bogging down the new story direction. There is mystery, adventure, romance and humour making a very entertaining and quick read.

Angela Dawe is the narrator and does a good job of distinguishing different characters as well as highlighting emotions and situational intensity. She is a lively reader and easy to listen to.

Thank you to MacMillan Audio for an early copy in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you all for this early gifted copy of Finlay Donovan Jumps The Gun!

Finlay has been a favorite story and character in my home for the last year. Funny, quirky and different. This book is my least favorite of the stories so far, and I think that’s because it felt a little dull. The story felt like a filler for the most part, and almost like it was more about Vero than Finlay. There were also so many new characters to keep track of on top of previous ones.

I thought that the narrator’s voice was great for Finlay, and emphasized her wittiness in all the right ways.

I still really enjoyed this book and would recommend it to others to read. And I will definitely be continuing to read Finlay’s story as it comes!

I absolutely love this series. It makes me laugh out loud, and the characters relationships are so good. I love how she is solving crimes while trying to write a book.

I love Finlay's and Vero's relationship so much!

I can't wait for the next book to see how things work out!

She’s back!! I will always listen to a Finlay and Vero novel!! I absolutely love this duo! They did get into a lot of predicaments and at a police station! I really hope the next book has some bodies 😂 and what was with that ending!! I need book four now!!!

Finlay Donovan is intriguing, brave and a hot mess mom- what more could you ask for in a thriller? Any book that starts with a mom coaxing a toddler from a public bathroom stall with a bag of cereal already has my attention. The trials of this single mom may not be quite relatable with all of the murder and criminal organizations involved, but it makes for an suspenseful and engaging story. How will she pay back the favor she owes to the crime boss, how will she pay the bookie, why is her ex-husband coming to her house when she isn't home and who will watch the kids? Love it all!!

Finlay Donovan is at it again. This time she is in debt to the Russian mod who did her a favor and paid off the expensive sports car she "borrowed" and destroyed in book 2. The mob boss Feliks informs her that in order to pay off her debt she must discover the secret identity of Easy Clean the undercover hitman who attempted to kill her ex husband Steven several times.
Vero her partner in crime/ nanny/ accountant has some troubles of her own to deal with.
Finlay and Vero decide to go to a week long police academy for civilians to hopefully discover the identify of Easy Clean who they believe is a dirty cop. They have a lot of adventures along the way.
Finlay must also discover what she wants to do with the "hot cop" in her story and in her real life too.

Will Finlay and Vero be able to discover the identity of Easy Clean before it's too late?????

Like the first two series installments, Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun is full of escapades, banter, and humor. As I trudged through several other heavier or darker (and definitely no fun) books before writing this review, I appreciated the tone of this book even more. [I'm recovering from hand surgery, so I'm doing a lot more reading and sleeping than writing or anything else.] I need much-more-frequent infusions of escapism, silliness, and comedy, even (or especially?) if it’s dark. Finlay Donovan definitely satisfies.

In addition to nanny/ride-or-die bestie Vero and hot cop Nick, Finlay's sister Georgia and their parents are among the active characters again. Apropos of nothing, there's a reference to Kathy Reichs' character Temperance Brennan, which I enjoyed. [For the record, I prefer the books to the television adaptation, but my partner and I have just finished season eight of the latter—largely repeats for me, but new to him.]

Narrator Angela Dawe does an excellent job, as usual. I did a little sleuthing on her, finding that she lives in Chicago. Maybe someday we'll meet. I can dream, right?!

The ending definitely leaves the door open for a fourth book. I, for one, can't wait!

The series has a similar feel to Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum series, which also features a female protagonist/buddy duo, one or more romantic interests at a time, close familial support, and unrealistic and darkly comedic storylines. There's a nice cover quote on this installment from Evanovich herself.

Thank you, NetGalley and Macmillan Audio, for the audio ARC of the book in exchange for an honest review. Publication is expected January 31.

Picking right up from book #2, Finlay and Vero are back and under the pressure of Feliks Zhirov (your friendly neighbourhood Russian mob boss) to find and eliminate the contract killer, EasyClean. Suspecting that EasyClean is a cop, Finlay and Vero find themselves enrolled in the citizen's police academy to try to find them. Which leads to no shortage of laughs as they fumble their way through the investigation.

In Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun we find out more about Vero's history, there are more advancements in Finaly's love life, and the identity of EasyClean is finally unveiled.

---
I really enjoyed reading it and have really enjoyed watching the story of Finlay Donovan unfold. The series continues to be a wonderful combination of humour, chaos, and whimsy. Book #3 has a similar style and pacing to the first two books, so if you enjoy those, you will likely enjoy this as well,

Thank you St Martins Press, Minotaur Books, NetGalley, and Elle Cosimano for this ARC in return for my honest review.

This book was so much fun! I loved the other two so I was so excited to get an audiobook of this one to review! The narrator Angela Dawe is incredible. She narrates Elle’s books so perfectly. This book made me bust out laughing on more than one occasion, it’s the perfect romantic comedy/suspense novel.
