Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun was a funny, witty, unrealistic, crazy ride and I loved every minute of it.

This is the third book in the Finlay Donovan series, and while you can read this as a standalone, it’s much more fun if you read the first two books before jumping into this one.

This book is so fun! With twists and turns, I loved the multiple surprises all the way until the end. The characters are well written, and while Finlay is the star, her sidekick accountant/nanny, Vero, steals the show! With over-the-top shenanigans, the situations that Finlay gets herself into are hilarious and entertaining. If you’re looking for an easy, fun, crazy read, this is it!

Thank you to @netgalley @macmillan.audio and the author for an advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.

“This week was supposed to be about resolutions and deadlines…find a killer, eat healthy, don’t murder anyone and fix my book.”

Comedy reigns once again in this third installment of the Finlay Donovan series.
Finlay and her babysitter/accountant Vero have the same chemistry as their individual life complications seem to grow exponentially when they try to solve things together.

Mob Boss Feliks is still hovering and threatening as he continues blackmailing Finlay and Vero while they attempt to resolve the dangerous escapades of the previous two novels. They attend a Citizens Police Academy training week which is headed up by Finlay’s previous love interest, attempting to solve the “who is the hit man” mystery. Perhaps their most challenging assignment to date, this all happens within the police compound.

I was relived that the Finlay love square was diminished to the triangle but feel I have exhausted my enthusiasm for additional Finlay books. The original premise felt fresh and fun in #1 but seems to have run its course for this reader.
For those who enjoy books like “Dial A For Aunties” by Jesse Q. Sutanto, I recommend reading the previous Finlay novels before diving into Ms. Cosimano’s latest.

Angela Dawe does an excellent job with the narration of multiple characters.

I absolutely love this series. It is so much fun. Finlay and Vero are at it again. They are caught up in impossible situations with horrible people. This time they are given an ultimatum from a Russian Mob boss, trying to negotiate with a loan shark, and Finlay still has to turn in her manuscript for her latest book to her editor. And yes she is still trying to figure out what she should do about the hot cop, Nick. This had some really funny scenes—the mock trial was HILARIOUS!!

Elle Cosimano please keep this series going!! I look forward to them so much. The narrator does such a great job with these characters.

Thanks to NetGalley for the advanced audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

4.5 stars

Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun is jam packed with chaos and shenanigans. This time around, Finlay and Vero attend a police academy in order to find a specific contract killer at the request (demand?) of Russian mob boss Feliks.

This book was so fun and I laughed out loud multiple times. I loved returning to these characters, and the dynamic between Finlay and Vero. The plot was thrilling and kept me entertained, right up to the cliffhanger. I can’t wait for the next book!

The narrator of this series consistently knows how to captivate an audience. This book follows Finlay and Vero’s continued quest to solve Easy Clean’s identity, this time while trapped in the walls of a citizens police academy. The series is great on page, but the audiobook makes for the best experience! The comedy is gold, and the narrator knows how to communicate the humor in Elle’s writing.

I've recently discovered Finley and I find her delightful!
She's such a fun person and gets herself into some interesting positions.
And yet she manages to get herself out just fine too.
Definitely a good read and I look forward to the next installment.

I love the creativity, intelligence and whit in this series. Finlay and Vero captured my interest and made me laugh again and I really enjoyed the audio production of this book.

This book picks up where the other book leaves off and Finlay and Vero end up going undercover at a police academy, creating some hilarious moments with the love interest I have been rooting for.

There aren’t enough books/movies with women who work and help each other without any competition between them. I love the sisterhood in this book that makes me root and cheer for this unlikely team all the more.

The mystery elements were well done. Some I guessed and some I didn’t. I was excited for how this book set up for another book! I’m here for all the Finlay books.

While there is more mature romance in this book, it was well done with a fade to back keeping it classy and not crass. While there is some swearing, it is sporadic and not constant, which I appreciate.

⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️ I love how Finlay and Vero work together to figure out any issue that comes their way. The writing was so descriptive that I could see them running around in my head. Very interesting setting at the police academy this time. Can't wait to hear what happens with them next!

Special thanks to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for the advanced copy of the audiobook!

@ellecosimano is back with the third Finlay novel, Finlay Donovan Jumps The Gun. In this novel, Finlay and Vero find themselves in more crazy situations including spending a week at a police training academy for civilians. They continue to have hilarious dialogue and hijinks. There are also a couple of funny conversations with my favorite fictional child, Delilah! I absolutely love this series and it’s my go to when I need a break from the dark thrillers I typically read.

I read and listened to the audio of this book. The audiobook is well narrated and Angela Dawes does a great job of giving voices for the different characters!

Thank you @macmillan.audio @minotaur_books and @netgalley for allowing me to read and listen to this book ahead of publication in exchange for my honest review.

Humorous romp of a crime drama reminiscent of Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum. Third in a series, and should be read in order; not a stand alone. Fans of the previous books will be satisfied with this installment, although I felt the books are getting a little redundant. It would be nice to see some character development in the next book, and maybe see Finlay and Vero progress a little.

Audiobook narration was excellent and I loved the inflections given to Vero.

I LOVED, LOVED this book! I think this is my favorite of the whole series. I was so very excited that I got the audio ARC for this book! I am loving watching Finlay grow into her character and be her own strong woman. And the interplay between her and Vero is priceless and I am 100% here for it! I can't wait for the next book to see how she's gonna get herself and Vero out of their troubles!

Another cracking addition to the Finalay Donovan series. A recommended purchase in all formats for collections where the previous titles are popular.

Adventure ,silly-ness and a bunch of over the top scenarios. I wouldn't expect anything less for this third installment in the Finlay Donovan series.

Finlay has accidentally or out of shear untaped skill at evading the police and covering up murders, landed on the wrong side with the Russian Mob. Now his boss has a new request of Finlay and her "accountant" Vero. With time running out, Finlay and Vero enroll into a police training camp to uncover the identify of Ez Clean ( I've listened to the audibooks for the entirety of the series so Im not entirely sure how to spell their name). The stakes are high. The slowburn romance and sexual tension between Finlay and Nick is great.

I really enjoyed digging more into Vero's character during this installment. We learn a lot more about her past. We see her pin over a past love. Is there still something there?

I'm still in love with the friendship between Finlay and Vero. I can read about the shenanigans they get into all day. Cosimano continues to flesh out their characters. They are growing and learning from their past mistakes but they're still flawed lovable characters.

I will say the last chapter in the book felt a little incomplete. It felt like Cosimano was setting up for a new series or the continuing of this one. I wish we would've had a cleaner end. There were also some questions left unanswered.
I still had an awesome time reading this book and I will continue to read anything Elle Cosimano writes. She is my go to author when I need a good laugh.

I adore this series! This book is just as good as the first and even better than the second! I love how each book basically picks up right where the last left off, along them so easy to binge!

I received both a digital and audio ARC from the publisher and netgalley and I am so so glad that I was able to listen to this one like I did the other two! The narration is perfect and I absolutely love it!

Veto and Finlay are such a perfect duo and I love the way they just keep falling into situation after situation where they shouldn’t be! How they ‘clean up’ the messes they get into and the fact that Nick is always just right near by.

I’m dying at the ending, I mean come on I need another book ASAP and this one hasn’t even officially published yet! I can’t wait to see how this series continues!

I absolutely love this series! I was so excited to be able to listen to the audiobook before it was released. This book kept me on my toes but at the same time has me laughing out loud. Finlay and Vera are the perfect duo and there’s never a dull moment. The author never disappoints and I can’t wait for the next book to be out!

I will never tire of Fin and Vero. Never.

In this third installment, Finlay and Vero attend a Citizens Police Academy course (for research purposes only, of course.) We get to see Nick teach classes while Vero and Fin are, once again, ensnared by Felix's metaphoric claws.

I laughed out loud. I love them.

FINLAY DONOVAN is over-the-top and completely implausible. Once again, the 3rd book on the series is full of ridiculous shenanigans and one kooky situation after another. ⁣And that is exactly what I loved about it. It was quick paced and compulsively readable. This book both made me laugh and roll my eyes.

This series reminds me of the early adventures of the Stephanie Plum series. Stories with humor, hijinks, handsome men, and hot mess ladies that make it a whole lotta fun.

Finlay is a single mom and romance writer who accidentally got herself mixed up with the Russian mob. Her nanny and “partner in crime,” Vero are off to citizen’s police academy to uncover the latest mystery of which cop is working for the mob.

This is the third book in the Finlay Donovan series. I honestly liked it the best so far. There’s the standard Finlay/Vero antics of getting themselves in ridiculous situations and single mom-life woes but my favorite is there is finally some progress in the love department for Finlay. The tension! If you’ve read the previous books I would recommend keep going bc the drama isn’t done and this series is fun! If you haven’t picked up the first book, go for it. It’s easy, fun, ridiculous and easy to binge.

The audiobook is 💯! Angela Dawe does any amazing job.

Add to your TBR if you enjoy

-mom humor
-midlife crisis vibes
-sexual tension
