Finlay and Vero are back at it again in this 3rd installment in the series. I have likened these two characters to a modern-day version of Lucy & Ethel. Finlay and Vero get themselves into some sticky and hilariously funny predicaments which makes for quite the entertaining read. The characters are fantastically well developed, down to earth, and very relatable. I think we all know a solid friend like Finlay or a quick witted badass like Vero.
There is not a shortage of trouble in this book. Finlay and Vero have landed on the wrong side of a mob boss. Felix did Finlay a big favor and he demands repayment in the form of finding the Contract Killer known as Easy Clean. Felix's patience is running thin, and Finlay and Vero must find Easy Clean in a hurry. The adventure lands them in a Civilian Police Academy Camp where chaos and mayhem ensue. This is another exciting read with all the fun, humor, adventure, and thrills we've come to expect from these two loveable characters.
The audiobook was fantastic, and the narrator did a great job. Overall, this is another 5-star read that I would highly recommend!
Thank you to Minotaur Books, Macmillan Audio, and Net Galley, for an ARC in return for my honest review.
Thank you Macmillan Audio & Netgalley for an ALC of Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun! AHHH! Just when you think Elle Cosimano can't come up with another book as good as the last, she does it! And the Finlay Donovan series is absolute gold on audio. The narrator is perfect for this story.
Dating. Diapers. And dodging bullets. Who said single moms can't have fun?
Finlay Donovan finds herself in yet another mess with mob boss Feliks who's running the show from behind bars. She's been told to find a contract killer before the cops. But what happens if this killer may be a cop? Luckily, her maybe-yes-maybe-no romance with hot cop Nick resurfaces when he's started up a citizen's police academy. Finay's getting pressure on her next book, and partner-in-crime and babysitter (accountant!) Vero is running from her past.
There's just so much goodness about this book and series, and the audiobooks are fantastic. I'm a thriller lover through and through, but I'd take Finlay over anything else any day. She is witty, sarcastic, funny as hell and JEEZ do I love hot cop Nick. While Finlay juggles the daily trials of parenthood while dodging the police in her not-so-legal scenarios she finds herself in, do yourself a favor and pre-order this one prior to pub day and catch up on the Finlay backlist. Your new obsession awaits!
Every time I finish a Finlay Donovan book, i wonder how Elle Cosimano is going to be able to keep up with the hilarious mysteries that she writes. Somehow, each is funnier than the last. This book was AMAZING! I was laughing out loud listening to the audiobook from the first chapter, and I really wasn't able to figure out the ending to the mystery either. What more could I ask for?
Angela Dawe is an excellent narrator, and I love the emotion she puts into Finlay and Vero.
I can't wait to see what storm they bring to Atlantic City!
This is the same narrator has the first two and she voices Finlay perfectly.
This book did not disappoint! Finlay and Vero are back at it. The duo attend a citizen's training held by the police department to uncover the identity of the person trying to kill her ex husband. The relationship these two have is great! Very Lucy and Ethel. They balance each other out while also going along with each other's crazy ideas.
This series is all a crazy series of circumstances, which I enjoy. Finlay does seem to come out without being questioned too much, but I look forward to the next book. I do recommend reading the series in order. The first book to this book spans October to January with each book building on what happened in the previous book.
Thank you MacMillian and NetGalley for the opportunity ro read and review this book.
Another hit by Elle Cosimano! Really enjoy this series and the characters. Hard to put down. Thanks NetGalley for the eArc.
If you enjoyed the first two Finlay Donovan books, this one will be no different. Finlay and Vero find themselves in ridiculous predicaments and mysterious situations once again. I love the plot that ties these books together and just when you think one story is over, another one begins. I sure hope book #4 is in the works because I can't wait to see what happens next. There were serious, emotional, silly, hilarious, and tense moments. Every once in a while I found myself thinking... Gah! Why don't they just come clean and tell someone about what's going on, but then again if they did that, we wouldn't have a story.

This is book 3 in the Finlay Donovan series, and it did not disappoint. I love the relationship between Finlay and Vero, and I love that, regardless of the romance between Finlay and Nick, Finlay and Vero’s friendship is the star of the series. This story kept me on the edge of my seat and I can’t wait to see what these two get into next!
.
Minivan mom turns accidental hitwoman. This series is *chef’s kiss* 🤌. Cosimano had me cackling out loud from the opening scene in this one 😂. The laughs kept on coming while buddy reading with @daniallreads 🥰!

After the antics in book 2, Finlay and Vero are in debt to Russian mob boss, Feliks. Now it’s time to pay up. Feliks wants Finlay to find a contract killer named EasyClean. The killer might even be a dirty cop. Finlay and Vero sign up for the citizen’s police academy, where they get firearm and forensic training while trying to find said dirty cop. It just so happens that Finlay’s love interest, hot cop Nick, is running the academy. Will Finlay be able to escape the clutches of the Russian mob? Will she finally follow her heart and get together with Nick?
.
This book has hilarity and shenanigans paired with danger and twists just like the first two. There’s also lots of will-they-won’t-they chemistry. While the storyline has closure, there are plenty of loose ends that I’m sure will be tied up in another Finlay installment!
.
I read and listened to this book. Angela Dawe does a phenomenal job with the narration for all 3 of these books, and they are some of my favorite audiobooks.

Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun - Elle Cosimano
4.5/5⭐️
Pub Day: 1/31/23
In the latest installment of the series, romance novelist Finley and her nanny/accountant Vero are trying to discover the identity of hit man "easy Clean" for the imprisoned Russian mob boss, Felicks. Based on the information they have, the killer may be a cop. Vero is also in hot water with her sorority who thinks she has stolen money from them, which she did not. She did however lose money that belongs to a NJ loan shark while trying to replace the money that the sorority thinks she took. This leave Vero with an open arrest warrant in Maryland and Marco, the loan shark after her,
Where better to hide from all those bad guys than with a bunch of cops? In order to keep her kids safe, Finley leaves them with her ex-husband, Stephen. She explains that she will be doing background research for her next book while attending the a Citizen's Police Academy training week. This is something the police have offered to the community to create a stronger bond and empathy with the police working in Fairfax County, Va. This just happens to be run by Finley's love interest, the hot Detective Nick Anthony.
What could possibly go wrong, right? The witty banter between Vero and Finley is great fun. Nick and Finley have the will they or won't they hot chemistry of Sam and Diane from Cheers. All in all, it is a fun comic series with this installment ending in cliffhanger! I will defiantly be back for more.
My thanks to NetGalley for the Advance Audio Copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
From the opening scene it was clear this would be another fun romp as Finlay stumbles into more trouble, schemes her way out, balances mommy-life, danger, and an unwanted rep as a killer for hire. I loved every page and can't wait for the next book. The snarky sass, humor, and tight pacing make the Finlay Donovan series a standout in the crowded cozy mystery genre.
Thank you to the publisher for providing an advanced reader copy for review. All opinions are my own.
Was given the opportunity to listen and review via audio. To be honest, this one was just ok. Not as good as the previous two. Thanks to publishing and Netgalley for this ARC
3 STARS
Elle Cosimano's Finlay Donovan is one of my absolute favorites! This is the third in the series and was just as good as the others. FInlay and Veros are the modern day Thelma and Louise and their time at the academy was just as entertaining. What better way to "research for her next novel" than at a citizens police academy. Finlay's over the top antics were as entertaining as ever.
I was so checked out while reading this... I just couldn't connect with it at all.
I just adored the first book in this series and didn't love the second book as much, but sadly, I just could not connect with FINLAY DONOVAN JUMPS THE GUN at all. I listened to the audiobook (thank you to Macmillan audio for the Netgalley approval!) and this book just scrolled past my ears. I tried so hard to get into it but I feel like nothing really happened to capture my attention in this one.
I started to lose just a touch of interest in the last book but I feel like FDJTG just really didn't have much development to really grab me. I felt like it was starting to push into Stephanie Plum territory where there's just a lot of hijinks, some romance, and very little character or plot development. We're starting to push into things being silly and funny for the sake of comedy and it's losing its hold in the real world, causing me to start suspending (even more) disbelief which I wasn't really ready to do with this series.
The whole thing with the civilian's police academy was... boring? Forced? Unrealistic? All of the above? No idea if a thing like this really exists but it felt way too forced and I just couldn't find myself caring about what happened there because it felt like it didn't matter. I felt like there was not enough going on in some parts and too much going on in others. There were too many characters that meant nothing to the book that I just wasn't even paying attention when it came to the important ones and the ending was a little chaotic for me.
I was so excited to read this, thinking it would be a nice, cute, easy post-holiday read but instead I just felt knocked around by it. Finlay Donovan fans may still love it! I just didn't connect with the writing style and choices in this one. Not sure yet if I'll continue on and read the 4th book. After feeling like this, it may be doubtful. I'm already invested in 29 Stephanie Plum novels and probably don't need another series like it if it's going to keep being silly.
I cannot get enough if this series. This book was one of my top ten books I have been looking forward to in 2023. It didn’t disappoint. I often worry about series because they can end up repeating the story with small differences . The witty banter keeps this one a favorite.
Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun by Elle Cosimano, narrated by narrated by Angela Dawe was superb! It is the 3rd book in the Finlay Donovan series. It's got everything --- action-packed, laugh-out-loud hilarious, mystery/thriller, and cozy romance. Loved everything about it. Cannot wait for book #4!
The narrator was amazing! She had great comedic timing, distinct voices for each character, and I can feel every emotions through her voice. What a talented narrator!
Big thanks to Netgalley and Macmillan Audio for the advanced audiobook. #NetGalley #FinlayDonovan
Finlay and Vero are back!
They still find themselves in a bit of trouble only this time they are spending a week at the police academy. For book research of course. This has absolutely nothing to do with Nick. Nothing at all. Okay maybe a little. But yes, so much more Nick in this book!!
And accidental murders. And more run ins with Feliks. And possible dirty cops. It’s all here! Funny and suspenseful I think this is the best book yet!
Finlay Donovan returns again for her third adventure. With her ex-husband seemingly safe from contract killer Easy Clean, Finlay is now tasked with tracking down and identifying the elusive assassin to keep herself and her family safe from mob boss Felix. To try to prove her theory that Easy Clean is a police officer, Finlay and her nanny/accountant/bff Vero sign up for a residential citizens police academy. While there, Finley and Vero start to put the pieces together to identify who Easy Clean is while Finley attempts to figure out her feelings for the hot cop, Nick.
I really enjoyed this book, the third in the series. Its funny and keeps me eager to find out how the story ends. I hope to see Finley Donovan back again in future adventures.
Thank you to NetGalley, Elle Cosimano, and Macmillan Audio for providing me an advanced listener copy of the audiobook in exchange for my honest review.
Listening to the audiobook of the latest installment of Finlay Donovan was such an exciting ARC for me! I dis get somewhat confused with all the characters, but I think it had just been too long in between the 2nd and 3rd book for me. This book gave me everything I wanted from Finlay and Vero!
Finlay and Vero are back in this third installment in the series by Elle Cosimano, and, as things so often go for the duo, hijinks and high-stakes scenarios ensue.
Someone is still coming for Vero. Feliks still expects Finlay to deliver a deceased EasyClean. Finlay is struggling to please her editor with the *ahem* content for her latest novel. And something is up with Steven—again. Can’t Finlay just catch a break?
I think this is my favorite Finlay novel yet. We get more of the romantic entanglements, several laugh-out-loud moments, some “Be careful, Finlay and Vero! You are going to get caught!” situations, and some touch-and-go circumstances. And, of course, things are left a bit open-ended at the book’s conclusion, making you eager for that next title to come out sooner, rather than later.
Once again, Elle Cosimano’s book defies being pinned down to one genre in this fun Finlay trip. Hop on over to the citizen’s police academy and enjoy the show.
I listened to this one on audio and highly recommend it. Angela Dawe’s narration was fantastic. I could close my eyes and picture how it all went down. I laughed out loud. I grinned. I held my breath. If you are an audiobook lover, do yourself a favor and pick up this one.
I received an advance copy of the audiobook from Macmillan Audio and NetGalley. All review opinions are my own.
I read the first two Finlay books, but I loved the opportunity to listen to the third installment! Such a fun series and excited for it to continue.
