Thank you Netgalley for an ARC! Finlay gets herself into all sorts of trouble in this one. Trying to find Easy Clean to get the mob boss off her back while also trying to keep the police off her tail, turns out to be quite the challenge. This series is quickly becoming one of my favorites, as is Elle Cosimano. This one has it all: humor, mystery and romance. I highly recommend this series to everyone!
I love this series and was excited for this one! The audiobook is amazing!
I don't wanna give anything away but definitely another crazy adventure with Finlay and Vero. Everyone needs a Vero in their life lol.
Definitely excited for the next adventure with these two!

Another hit! This is book 3 in the Finlav Donovan series and I haven't been disappointed yet! This series is a big winner for me. Lots of humor, mystery, a little romance sprinkled in...perfect combination.
As a smut lover, I could always use a little more "open door" action, but I'm honestly not mad that the author didn't fling them wide open. Okay, maybe a smidge...
Highly suggest this series, and I cannot wait for the next one!
Thank you @netgalley, @macmillan.audio, and the author for this #gifted book.

A wonderful audio read and a great E-Arc too! Either way you choose to engage with the book it is a great read! It is number three in the series and it is a must read for anyone who loves adventure, mystery, and a little romance.
I was so excited to read the third book of the series since I loved the first 2. I listened to the audiobook and loved the narration of this. I felt the first half of the book was a little slow, but once it picked up at the Citizen police academy, I loved it. Finlay and Vero are always getting themselves into some sketchy yet hilarious situations. I love this series and am excited it sounds like there may be a 4th!
“Dating. Diapers. And dodging bullets. Who said single moms can't have fun?
Finlay Donovan has been in messes before―after all, she's an author and single mom who's a pro at getting out bloodstains for rather unexpected reasons―but none quite like this. After she and her nanny/partner-in-crime Vero accidentally destroyed a luxury car that they may have ‘borrowed’ in the process of saving the life of Finlay's ex-husband, the Russian mob got her out of debt. But now Finlay owes them
Still running the show from behind bars, mob boss Feliks has a task for Finlay: find a contract killer before the cops do. Problem is, the killer might be an officer.
Luckily, hot cop Nick has started up a citizen's police academy, and combined pressure from Finlay's looming book deadline and Feliks is enough to convince Finlay and Vero to get involved. Through firearm training and forensic classes (and some hands-on research with the tempting detective), Finlay and Vero have the perfect cover-up to sleuth out the real criminal and free themselves from the mob's clutches―all the while dodging spies, confronting Vero's past, and juggling the daily trials of parenthood.”
**What I enjoyed about this book:
This book is the type of mystery that I just love! The plot was so much fun, with a lot of unexpected twists and turns! And while I loved all of the characters, Vero absolutely took the cake for me! She definitely brought the humor and quick wit to this mystery!
Read if you like:
*a fast paced mystery
*great humor
*strong, independent women
*a little bit of romance
Happy Pub Week to Finlay Donovan Jumps The Gun 🥳🎉🎊
Finlay does it again! Well I should say the author Elle Cosimano does it again in this new installment of the hilarious mystery/thriller Finlay Donovan series.
Book 3 picks up pretty much where it left off in book 2 with Finlay having a big baddie breathing down her neck - the Russian Mob. She owes the boss a favor and he wants it yesterday.
Of course Vero her nanny, sidekick, housemate, and partner in crime is still running around causing more drama, which makes this book all the more fun. Vero gets Finlay and herself invited to hot Cop Nick's Citizen Police Academy for a week. They need to lay low because just about everyone is after them. Of course hottie Nick and Finlay have been on a "will they won't they" collision course for 3 books now and we readers need satisfaction 😀
There are plenty of laughs and hijinks and of course murder mayhem and danger with the Lucy and Ethel of mysterious crimes Finlay and Vero leading the charge.
I just love the narration of this book. It really adds so much depth and humor to the characters. I don't know how Angela Dawe does so many voices so convincingly and fantastically!
I really enjoy listening to this series and look forward to every book that comes out. The combination humor, mystery and interesting characters makes this series a must read/listen.
Thank you @macmillan.audio for my ALC. Finlay Donovan is available now.
I have adored this entire series and this book was no different! This book was the perfect mix of laughs and suspense. The whole series is perfection and I hope to read more of Finlay and Vero's adventures. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
3.5 stars (rounded up to 4)
I’m not quite sure how she does it, but Elle Cosimano somehow manages to write a mystery-thriller that is lighthearted and funny at the same time as there are a lot of rather tense moments.
Finlay Donovan, a struggling writer with two small children, is separated from her (cheating) husband and Vero is her live-in nanny who is studying accounting. Together they are quite the team! Without giving away too much of the plot, the troubles they’ve had in the previous books, with a Russian mobster and other misadventures, continue in this volume. And Finlay is still trying to figure out what her relationship should/could be with Nick, a local detective. Finlay and Vero wind up attending a week-long Citizens Police Academy in the hope of figuring out who the “dirty cop” is (details in previous books in the series) while gaining some useful skills, and the situations they find themselves in are sometimes scary and sometimes really funny.
I’ve read all three books in this series (so far) and this one is possibly my favorite. It can be read as a standalone if you’re willing to just “go with the flow” and enjoy the madcap adventure (but of course you will lose all the back story details). I was kind of hoping this would be the last in the series, wrapping things up, but nope - from the way the book ended, there will surely be a book 4!
I bounced between the audiobook and the ebook for this title, which was very convenient. The audiobook is beautifully narrated by Angela Dawe.
Thank you to Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for the opportunity to listen to an advance copy of this audiobook and to Minotaur Books and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advance reader copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
Love the Finlay Donovan series!! They’re funny, have the perfect amount of murder and mystery, but nothing that is scary or dark! I honestly haven’t read a book series like this before and it’s refreshing!
I love her relationship with her nanny turned friend and how they are TRUE partners and crime. The author gives us enough in every novel so it doesn’t drag or feel incomplete but I’m also always ready for the next phase of the story and excited to read the next book!
All the characters make me laugh from her mom to her sister to her cop boyfriend to the mafia that is making her work for them. None of it feels toooo unrealistic either which is hard with books like these! I love that it’s always about the mystery and crime but also interweaved is her being an author trying to write her next novel and everything in her life influences it!
The love interest is another thing that keeps us hooked SHE JUST BETTER NOT GET BACK WITH HER EX although he is starting to become redeeming a little bit but I also still don’t trust him at all!!
This third book was definitely better than the 2nd one too!! (2nd one is still good though just enjoyed this one more!)
There has to be another book after and I can’t wait!
Finlay Donovan still a single mom sturggling with everything that it comes with and the cherry on top also a teeny little problem with a mafia bosses and hitmans.
Finlay and her trusty nanny slash accountant Vero find themselves on rockier paths with our community mob boss Feliks when they make a deal for her to take out the hitman and blackmailer Easyclean in an exchange for maney to pay off Vero's gambling debts.
I loved this just as much as the previous two and hoping for a book four. Once I stated the audiobook I could not find myself stopping. I loved how the dynamics and the relationships grow in this book. And just like Finley's editor I am glad the hot cop is back. Easy and fun read.
Thank you NetGalley and Macmillian Audio for my copy of Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun
I just love this duo. Finlay and Vero are the ultimate besties. They’re hilarious and i love how they always have each others backs and push each other but support each other too.
This was a fun one. As are all of them. I think the suspense/drama was more minor in this one tho. And the spice was more limited. But i was still really into it and laughed out loud at parts. I want them to invite me into their girl gang. Not sure i want to be swept up in the partner in crime part hahahah. But I’d want them on my side.
Also love the narrator. I think she is 100% finlay and i think I’ll have to listen to every book because it won’t be the same without her narration. (Provided there’s a book 4… which I’m betting there is! 🤞🏻)
I love the Finlay Donovan series. This is the third book in the cozy mystery/thriller series following Finlay and her nanny Vero. I love following along with their crazy antics and how they move about their lives. Elle Cosimano's writing is easy to follow, funny and more importantly entertaining.
I highly suggest this series for anybody who is trying to get into cozy mystery stories. This book picks up from when the Russian mob boss is behind bars and they are trying to identify a killer to protect themselves and their family. We also get to learn some of vero's backstory and a little more about her love interest Javi.
Release Date: January 31, 2023
📖📖📖📖📖
Finlay Donovan and her trusty baby nanny Vero are screwed. They are in debt to an Atlantic City loan shark, they need to kill someone for the Russian mob and Finlays ex husband keeps breaking into her house. With all this going on they decide the safest place to be is at a citizens police academy. But with Vero and Finlay, trouble finds them wherever they go. Will they be sent home from the police academy in body bags?
This is the third book in the Finlay Donovan series. I didn’t read the other two books prior and I felt like I was missing a lot of sub text and character backgrounds. I highly recommend starting from book 1 with this series. It’s also spicier than your usual cozy mystery and the heroine is a lot messier.
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions and thoughts are my own.

4.5/5 stars
Finlay Donovan is back in the third installment of the series! We last saw Finlay and partner-in-crime Vero stealing a super nice car to save her ex-husband's life (check out FINLAY DONOVAN KNOCKS EM DEAD if this is news to you haha). Now, mob boss Feliks has helped Finlay out... for a price. Finlay has to figure out the identity of Easy Clean, the hit-person out to get her ex-husband in book 2. On the trail of a mysterious dirty cop gone contract killer, Finlay enrolls in hot cop Nick Anthony's citizens police academy to spy on the other officers, research her book, and hide from Vero's past. Yes, there's a ton going on and yes, you're going to want to read it!
This was the perfect third book of the series. Finlay and Vero continue to be an extremely likeable duo, and the best morally gray main characters I've encountered. The supporting characters in this series -- Georgia, the kids, even Steven -- are so enjoyable to read. I actually wish we would have gotten more of Vero in this one, but the set up to book 4 leads me to believe we'll get more of her and her past in that one! Nick and Finlay have so much chemistry and are so fun to read. I found myself frustrated and wishing that would happen faster, but I have enjoyed their journey from the start. I just love Nick so much and his care for Finlay/her kids makes my heart SWOON.
I was so happy this ended on a cliffhanger and even more excited that book 4 is set to release in 2024. This has definitely become a comfort series for me!
I am beyond thrilled that I picked up the Finlay Donovan series!
As I was nearing the end of the second book in the series I knew that I wasn’t ready to be done with Finlay just yet, so I applied for the ALC of this one and was approved!
While I did think that this book dragged the story on maybe a little too long, I still loved it. I had a theory going in, which proved to be false (thank goodness. Things would have gone very poorly if I was right).
I love the romance that Finlay has going on. It is so wholesome and swoony (but DEFINITELY a slow burn). I think I am just a sucker for a man stepping into a fatherhood role in a very natural and organic way (seriously 🫠).
And honestly, the partnership of Vero and Finlay is the highlight of this entire series. The way they banter back and forth has me rolling every time!
The audiobook narrator also does a phenomenal job!
How in the world am I supposed to wait a year for #4?!
Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun by Elle Cosimano is just delightful! I really liked books 1 and 2 but this latest installment is my favorite. Finlay and Vero are up to their old tricks again as accidental amateur sleuths and it's hilarious to watch the trouble they manage to get into where hilarious dialogue and situations abound at every turn. I'm in love with these characters and hope this series never ends. The audiobook quality was stellar and the narrator was excellent.
I received a review copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley for my honest review. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.
This was a very consistent and reliable addition to the series! I have to say I had high hopes for it and they fell a tad short, but overall it was what you can expect from Finlay! Vero continues to make the books worthwhile!
Elle Cosimano’s latest addition to her Finlay Donovan series begins with our heroine, Finlay, trying to diffuse a loaded situation, which foreshadows much of the action in Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun, a novel that alternates between hilarious, gripping, and steamy.
Finlay and her nanny/accountant/sidekick, Vero, have joined a course at the citizen’s police academy, which allows them to hide from Vero’s loan sharks while also searching for the hired killer known as EasyClean, whom they suspect is a cop. It seems like a win-win situation. In Finlay’s world nothing is ever straight-forward and that is the case here as the women find themselves in over their heads yet still resourceful.
Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun allows the reader to hang with many of the characters in the preceding novels and introduces us to a few more like hot cop Nick’s former partner Charlie, firearms instructor Wade (who has my vote for hot cop), along with a kickass cyber cop, who may become Georgia’s love interest.
Unlike the previous two novels which I read (thank you library), I listened to Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun and I’ve got to tell you that Angela Dawe’s narration just made this so much fun. Cozy mysteries are not usually page turners (can audiobooks be page turners?!) but the narration definitely made this a page turner. I listened while I was doing all kinds of chores and even made a few up just so I could listen.
Yes, there are scenes that may seem over-the-top but I lapped them up because they were funny as well as outrageous–the stuff of slapstick comedy duos. (I Love Lucy, the murder years mystery, anyone? I read to be entertained and this one did just that. So. Much. Fun.
As I mentioned above, Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun introduced a new hot cop, Wade, who would make a great hero. Perhaps in a spin-off series. Or something. Anything. Please.
Many thanks to Macmillan Audio for providing me with a copy in exchange for an honest review.
I was both excited and apprehensive about starting Finlay Donovan Jumps The Gun since I enjoyed the first two books so much but was worried that this funny zany storyline had run its course and it would get repetitive. I am glad to report that the third book in this fun series stayed the course and I loved entering Finlay and Vero‘s world once again - it was fun and fresh over the top of course, but oh so enjoyable! The community police boot camp was such a fun idea and provided a great setting for this third installment.
The book are best read in order so if you have not read the other two yet, I recommend starting with Finlay Donovan Is Killing It. This is a fast read with action on every page and quick chapters
I was hoping for Nick and Finlay‘s romance to finally take off and was happy to see things moving in the right (IMO) direction - if slowly ..,
The narration was fabulous yet again ! I loved the audiobook !
