Finlay and Vero are back again! Man do I love this series! It had me hooked from the very beginning. I love what a fun team the two of them make. While I enjoyed this one a lot, it wasn’t a 5 star for me like the first two were. I think the Felix drama has to end. It’s getting a little played out, and something new would definitely make this series more fun. Overall still a wonderful read. I loved the narration on this one as well. The voices are perfect and I could listen all day.
This book is some of the most fun you can have reading. Finlay Donovan is back with her nanny, Vero. These two get into more messes and yet seem to have more fun doing it. This time, they find themselves staying at the police academy's citizens training camp for the week. They now suspect that the contract killer they are looking for is a cop and they hope that being in the mix with the police will help them figure out who their suspect is.
I laughed so many times throughout this book. Cosimano's writing of Finlay and Vero was already full of witty banter, but this book levels it up from the first two. I was hooked from page one. I love the aspect of women supporting women, even through the craziest of scenarios. Their friendship is irresistible, even when they disagree. And then there's Nick. I already adored him, but this book made me fall deeply in love. He's good and kind when you want him to be and gruff when you prefer that. I love how he loves Finlay even when he suspects she's up to no good.
For the audio version, the narrator is perfection. She does an amazing job with all the characters and voices and has just the right tone for the feel of Finlay's adventures. I enjoy the book but the audio levels it up even more.
Full of adventures and a riotous cast, Finlay Donovan is the perfect escape from a dull day. It will burst any reading slump and make you wanting more from this fantastic author. I cannot wait for the next book in the series.
Just as hilarious as the last two! I love listening to these on audio book. The female friendship story between Finaly and Vero is incredible and hard to find in other books! This is great one for book clubs
I love the Finlay series so much! I appreciate that the books pick up right where the previous one left off and I'm glad I saved book 2 to read right before Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun.
The relatability of these characters is fantastic. Especially Finlay as a mom. The opening chapter with her son in the bathroom had me laughing so hard as I'm in the same stage of trying to potty train my daughter.
I am really excited that things are finally happening in Finlay's love life!
The narrator for this series is wonderful as well. I am never curious about which character is speaking!
I'm looking forward to book 4!
I loved this book. It's my favorite after the first. I was dying for Finlay and Nick to finally get together and I liked that we had some lingering questions answered (even though it brought more up for me). I was hooked from the beginning and didn't want this to end. I can't wait to see where book four takes us and what else Finlay gets up to.
As always I loved the narrator and enjoyed listening to this at 3x speed.
Everything but the kitchen sink. This book has a little bit of everything – murder, romance, humor, and everything in between.
Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun is book #3 in the Finlay Donovan series. I definitely recommend reading all 3 books close to each other, as Cosimano does a good job of remind you of the big details, but not of the little details. I found myself looking up spoilers of the first two books to jog my memory for this one.
In typical FD fashion, this book is chaotic and all over the place – just like Finlay herself. I had fully expected the third book to go in a different direction based on where the second book ended, but Cosimano took this one in a completely different direction. For me, I wish there was more romance between Vero/ Javi and Nick/ Finlay, but that’s just my personal preference.
Some aspects of this book were just a little ~too~ far fetched for me, but I did like this book on audio better than the physical book. Dawe does a great job narrating and I liked the different inflection of different characters.
Although this series can be a little over the top, I still recommend checking this series out for a fun light-hearted read!
Thank you to Net Galley for the advanced copy of this audiobook! All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I finished listening 🎧 to this one almost a week ago. I loved this book, it was so entertaining! I finished it in two days, I just could not put it down. I love the banter, between the characters, and the shenanigans they get themselves in, it’s just to witty and hilarious. I loved the first 2 in the series, so I knew I would like this one as well.
Thank you to

for the arc of Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun. This was one of my most anticipated reads of the month/year and it did not disappoint! This is the third book in a series so I can’t go too in depth without any spoilers, but Finlay and her side kick def find themselves in a world of mess in this one. There are LOL moments, tension/angst, mystery, and a gripping storyline that kept you on your toes. This 100% is one of my fave series!
I was so excited to see that I was approved for this audiobook--I "jumped" right in! The narrator, Angela Dawe, has the ability to perfectly voice each character in the cast--- that makes any book even better. Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun (#3) picks up where #2 ends. Finlay and Verro are still pitted against the Russian mob boss, Felik because they manage to trash the car that the mob loaned them. Steve is a pest who wants to be around---unless it's his turn for childcare , then of course he disappears.
Some of Verro's secrets are revealed, Finlay decides on a steady guy, Javi is in and out, and the children are as precocious as ever. Laugh out loud moments from the hilarious opening scene with Finlay, to the crazy bathroom scene with Verro, These are what I expect from this dynamic duo!
I do wish there were fewer zany over the top moments because this book reminded me too much of Stephanie Plum.
For a humorous, enjoyable read you cannot go wrong with this audiobook.
Thank you to #Macmillan Audio, #NetGalley and #ElleCosimano for the audiobook ALC to honestly review.
Finlay Donovan is back. This book continues the story started in the other two books and is just as enjoyable. The story has all the fun, totally unbelievable parts that come from Finlay trying to not be a person hired to kill, but death still seems to follow her everywhere. It is set up perfect for a fourth book, and I hope Elle Cosimano is already working on it. The audio was great, and I was THRILLED when NetGalley let me listen to an ARC. If you liked the others, make sure you get this one ASAP!
Another thrilling, fun-filled, action packed, over-the-top adventure with my favorite gal pals, Finlay and Vero!!
In this 3rd-installment of the beloved Finlay Donovan Mystery series, Finlay and Vero pack their bags and head to a recently developed Citizen's Police Academy. Nick, Finlay's potential love interest, is the cop in charge of the program and many of his departmental friends are there acting as instructors. Finlay is under the guise of researching her next book, but we all know how true that is.
She's actually there to try to find the mysterious character, Easy Clean. But like, yeah, she does actually need to finish that book. Will her protagonist get together with the cop?
As you can imagine, Finlay and Vero's time living in dorms, attending classes where they get put through police training along with Finlay's elderly neighbor, some over-enthusiastic podcasters and others, will not be without its hijinks. There's so much going on in this one. Finlay's ex-husband is circling around, trying to make amends, which Finlay wants no part of. Vero's past gets brought up in a big way and mob boss, Feliks isn't quite done with the ladies yet.
The Finlay Donovan series is one of my favorite Cozy Mystery series ever. The main reasons for that are the characters and the humor. Finlay has such a dry sense of humor. I absolutely love the way she describes everything going on around her and her feelings about it. I'm seriously in stitches half the time.
I have listened to the entire series on audio and definitely recommend that medium. At this point, the narrator, Angela Dawe, is Finlay Donovan to me. Her voice-work in that role is top notch!
The relationship between Finlay and Vero is perfect as well. They're so in deep together at this point. I love how even though, they are pretty different when you think about it, they are fully committed to one another and their friendship benefits them both equally.
The ending of this leads me to believe there will absolutely be a fourth installment. I'm not sure how many books are slated to be in this series, but I will be reading them all. Each and every one. Happily and with excitement.
Thank you so much to the publisher, Minotaur Books and Macmillan Audio, for providing me with copies to read and review. I have been so excited for this release and it definitely didn't disappoint.
Happy pub day!!!! 🥳
Good Lord do I love me some Finlay and Vero! The insane shenanigans they get themselves into are a hoot to read! It makes me both want to be their best friend and stay far away all at the same time 😂 They are a hot mess in the best way possible.
This is one of my favorite series to dive into when I want a mystery to try to figure out, but also be entertained and laugh a lot. I really hope this series never ends because I need these two in my life!
The endings of the books always leave me like 😳 I’m so ready for the road trip they are about to embark on!
I am really excited to see this series as a show! It’s going to translate great to TV!
Thank you to @netgalley and @stmartinspress for the arc and @macmillan.audio for the audio!! I loved listening while reading along.
3.75 and rounding up.
Another excellent installment of the Finlay Donovan series.
I have to say, I rather enjoyed the setting for this one since I'm always up for a training/competition plot line.
This mystery definitely kept me guessing right until the reveal which is usually something that doesn't happen.
If you are fan of the Finlay and Vero duo, you will certain get your fill of hijinks in this one.
It was a funny, fast paced, tension and action filled read that I couldn't put down.
HAPPY PUBLICATION DAY!

Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun by Elle Cosimano
This is book #3 in the Finlay Donovan series. The first step I took when I got this book was to read the first two books. This is a must to get the vibe of the main characters in the story. Finlay Donovan who is a writer who gets involved with solving cases with her nanny Vero. The two women are the type that make you laugh out loud with the banter they have with each other. I believe this is what makes this series so fun is the banter the women share with each other. The mystery part of the story usually is farfetched for the reader to have to suspend belief to go along with the story.
I really just enjoy Finlay and Vero together they are crazy funny and the antics they get involved in is just nuts at times but that is what makes so many of us love this series so good. If you are a fan of cozy mysteries, then this one will be one to read it is a must read. Especially if you love good banter between the crime solvers.
The story starts off with Finlay crawling around the bathroom floor of the men's bathroom trying to get to her son. Yes, that is gross but only Finlay can find herself in this situation. To finally get him out she has to pull out a snack to get his attention to get ahold of him and get him out of the bathroom. This is Finlay's type of luck with her kids, her books, her ex-husband and lovers. I don't know if I should feel sorry for her or just plain laugh how bizarre her life is.
Narrated by Angela Dawe who does an amazing job bringing life to Finlay and Vero as well as other characters making listening to the story so enjoyable. I highly recommend this series and listening to it on audio is superb.
Thank you to Netgalley, Macmillan audio and St. Martin's Press for a free copy of Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions of this review are my own.
𝗧𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀: There is just something about Finlay, Vero and their crazy, harebrained schemes that I find not only hysterically funny, but also so comforting. Each and every book is insanely bingeable and this one is no exception. In fact, I think this may be my favorite of the series.
In our third installment, Finlay and Vero are struggling to meet multiple deadlines, her book rewrites and their looming mob money payback. What do they decide to do you ask? Why enroll in a citizens police academy of course, bringing the hotty cop Nick back into Finlay’s orbit. We also get more of Vero’s former flame Javier and a bit more info on her backstory.
This one does end with yet another cliff hanger and I cannot wait to see what these two crazy ladies get into next.

Thank you Minotaur Books for the advanced copy and Macmillan audio for the ALC in exchange for my honest review.
Many thanks to my partners @minotaur_books and @macmillan.audio for the #gifted copies.
Laugh out loud hysterical. Over the top fun.
There aren’t many things I look forward to in winter. Not the cold temps. Not the lack of sunshine. And definitely not the snow.
But the one thing I can count on in the midst of the bleakness… Finlay Donovan!
Each year, Cosimano delivers the exact serotonin punch I need in the form of outrageous hijinks and hysterical shenanigans as Finlay and Vero sleuth out another mystery.
This book picks up right where the last left off… Finlay and Vero need to unmask Easy Clean, a contract killer with possible ties to the police. With mob boss Feliks looming over their shoulders and demanding answers, they get up close and personal with all the possible suspects at… the citizens police academy.
<enter 300ish pages of belly laughs with a side of 🔥 whenever hot cop Nick shows up>
Like the other two installments, this fast paced book is a total laugh out loud binge read. With a completely implausible plot, we find Finlay and Vero in the most absurd situations. Yet that is exactly what keeps me coming back. Just *what* will they get up to next?!
Since each book in this series is a continuation of the previous, I recommend starting with the first book and reading them in order.
Looking for a pick me up? This pure escapist read with the perfect mix of humor and sizzle is just the book to do it.
🎧 I went back and forth between the print and audio version on this one, and I really enjoyed Angela Dawe’s continued portrayal of Finlay.
Huge vero and Finlay fan i will read anything with this they are a hilarious entertaining duo and I'm always interested to see what adventures and situations they get into and how micracously they somehow make it out of these interesting predicaments

My Thoughts: I LOVE LOVE LOVE Finlay Donovan and her trusty sidekick, Vero. The story is narrated by Finlay Donovan. This is the third book in the series, Finlay Donovan and does NOT disappoint! The opening scene was hysterical. As the mystery is unfolding, I am laughing, gasping, and cheering, and even at times scratching my head wondering how she gets herself involved in these messes. The narrator was top notch, she really brings Finlay’s character to life, along with the supporting characters. My favorite five star read this year. While this is the third in a series, it could be read as a stand alone, however, the characters are fully explored in the first two books. The plot is a continuing plot, sort of.
Finlay has gotten herself into another heap of trouble with the Russian mob, again. This wouldn’t be a Finlay book without creating enemies along the way. Then her ex-husband, what a piece of work he is. I have not been a fan of his from the start. I do love her sidekick, Vero. Finlay and Vero attend firearm training, and forensic classes created for citizens, which helps them find the contract killer, who may be among the cops. Add in Vero’s past that is disclosed a little more and you have yourself the perfect mystery. The over the top antics is top notch in this installment. The characters were continued to be developed, well fleshed out, witty, mysterious, creative, and brilliantly done. The author’s writing style is complex, multifaceted, top notch, humorous, suspenseful, and absolutely keeps you engaged.
This book is full of non-stop action. Have I not said enough to convince you? Stop what you are doing right now and go BUY this book! Also buy the other books, as they are SOOO worth the investment! This series has a little of mystery and a lot of humor. I do highly, highly recommend picking up. I cannot wait for the next book!
I won't lie; I had some trepidation going into book 3. I was curious how Cosimano would differentiate this book from the standard "wash, rinse, repeat" that frequently occurs in a series like this. But I am happy to report that she knocked it out of the park. This may be my favorite of the three books, and this has quickly become one of my new favorite series. The "amateur sleuth" is one of my favorite tropes, and Cosimano does it so well.
Finlay and Vero are such a great duo, and the shenanigans they get up to make me laugh out loud. I will admit that you have to suspend disbelief a little, but that's to be expected with this type of book.
Given that this is the third book in the series (I do recommend reading them in order), it is difficult to discuss too much. However, this was fun. Some of the issues I had with book 2 are non-existent in this book, and I think many people will be happy about Finlay's love life. We even learn more about Vero in this installment, and I can't wait to see what happens next.
I listened to this on audio, as I have done with all three, and the narrator remains an easy listen.
Thank you to @netgalley @stmartinspress and @macmillan.audio for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Finlay is back for a third round of mom/assassin hijinks in this fast-paced novel. Cosimano keeps things fresh by embedding Finlay and Vero at citizen police officer training camp. The pair is determined to root out a mole in the police department who is blackmailing their mob boss connection before he or she discovers their own identities. Stakes are high as Finlay and her police officer love interest, Nick, circle both each other and the truth. Readers don’t come to this series for the gritty realism, so it should come as no surprise that there are elements that strain credulity, but the humor and clever suspense more than make up for any failings. Angela Dawe shines as a narrator, doing a credible job with accents and male and female voices.
