Simple Success is a good nonfiction book. It’s all about learning to deal with the bad and also appreciating the good things in life. Sometimes we need that reminder.
I stopped reading at 42% personally I felt the collections were entirely too long for “simple” success. I grew frustrated with how long it was taking me to get through the book and how lost I was due to the excerpts just being excerpts.
I think this would be a great book in book format but on my kindle it was tough to read. I also think it would be good for someone who has read many of these books before and could use this as a quick reference. As someone that hasn’t read any of the included texts I was more lost and frustrated.
This was such a useful book that I know I will be referring back to many times in the future! I thought the writing was very easy to understand.
A great book on success. THe multiple view points made this a much more interesting read. I would highly recommend this book.
Essays for the Highs and Lows of Life
This collection of previously published books is about how you can deal with both the highs and lows of life. These books are not new they have been around for many years and people in all stages of life have found meaning in them.
My favorite was “The Game of Life”. Life is full of curve balls just when things seems to be going well you may have a catastrophe or at least a major stumble. Shin points out that most things are either good or bad depending on how you perceive them. If we see life as more positive than negative it will change how we view our experiences. I found this very helpful.
I highly recommend this book if you’re struggling with the problems of life, but it’s also a good thing to read when life is going well to gain perspective for the future.
Thanks to Net Galley and the publisher for this book.
A great collection of previously written books by various authors. I think every time you read this collection of stories you will walk away with at least one idea, a thought, a change of mindset that you didn't previously have.
This one resonated with me the most and I will probably read it over and over again.
How to attract money by Joseph Murphy was thoughtful and thorough in it's words, allowing the reader to focus on what means the most to them at that given time.
"Read it with an open mind and an open heart, and see what positive ideas speak to you most. And then try to implement those positive ideas in your life."
A compilation of short stories/essays written to encourage the reader & thoughts to ponder. To be read one at at time vs all at once. An interesting read.
Thanks to NetGalley & St Martin's press for the ARC
I love nonfiction books that teach me something and Simple Success does just that. Simple Success is a compilation of works pulled from eight experts of the past; no one was alive beyond the 1980s. While their advice and experience may be thought of as outdated, some advice stands the test of time. I particularly liked Napoleon Hill; he had a way of writing that makes one believe they can take on the world and win.
This is a great reference and also would make a great gift for a newly graduating high school senior or college graduate about to tackle on adulthood.
Thanks for this ACR St. Martin's Press & NetGalley.
I always appreciate a good nonfiction read that inspires me to go for my dreams. Simple Success discusses how to be sure in life. What do people do to be successful and how can one stay successful. This was a quick read I will refer back to at a later date.
Simple Success : How to Prosper in Good Times and Bad is a compilation book with a selection of old classics from the original self help writers. There are introductions and pointers to help you get the most from the excerpts. I found some of the selections excellent and it was great to be reminded of how brilliant and still very relevant these works are. There were also a few I wouldn't have chosen to include. Overall an excellent book with a collection of the work of the original self help geniuses.
