The Summer Girl is the PERFECT way to ring in the summer.
Elle has the amazing ability to transport you to this beautiful beach town and its wonderful citizens. I think on some level, everyone wishes to be a Cassie. To be able to go visit a beach town and have an exciting summer romance with a dreamy sailer/your neighbor This story allowed me to live that experience and then some. ❤️
The Summer Girl will pull you in with characters we know and love but will keep you enthralled with a new steamy romance and some ever-entertaining drama!
This was a great quick read! Summer in a book. Already excited for the next one! 🤞🏻
I love Avalon Bay! I Enjoyed Cassie and Tates story and was actually shocked by this book and laughed and cried! all the feels.
I loved this summer romance so much! Cassie returns to Avalon Bay for the summer and is looking for a summer fling. she thinks she finds the perfect candidate in Nate, her gorgeous neighbor and town’s playboy.
I binge listened to this thanks to Macmillan audio! I loved Cassie, she was so funny and real. She grew so much in the story as a young woman learning to stand up for herself with her family and set healthy boundaries. Of course the relationship between Cassie and Nate was my favorite part of the story, and I loved their friends to lovers journey. I haven’t read the other books in this series, and it did not take anything away from this story. I highly recommend it!
This story is as addictive as all the others in the series, sexy, funny and emotional, I loved it, the characters are both charming, they gave me all the feelings.
Tate and Cassie are attracted from the first moment they meet, their attraction is palpable throughout the pages and even though Tate puts Cassie in the friend-zone to avoid breaking her heart, the more time they spend together the more impossible deny, their electrifying chemistry is off the charts, I love their relationship and the easy friendship they cultivate.
I love friends to lovers’ stories, and this is so charming and sexy and I love the way they slowly build stronger feelings. But as always with this author's stories, secrets and unexpected twists test the relationship that they begin to build.
Summer Girl is a slow burn, steamy, emotional, and captivating romance that left me with a smile and a heart warm with happiness, highly recommended for fans of

I really enjoyed the writing style by Elle Kennedy! I had never read a book before by Kennedy and I was pleasantly surprised. This was a very sweet summer fling romance that was easy to follow and a quick read compared to other heavier books.
**Check trigger warnings before!**
That characters felt a little immature and mature at the same time. I also felt that the characters were a little underdeveloped. Overall, I would definitely check out other books by Kennedy in the future. I would really like to see a change in genre.
I absolutely love this series from Elle Kennedy. I've been a reader of Kennedy for years and her writing just keeps getting better and better. Even when I think she's hit perfection, she outdoes herself. This book was exactly what I was looking for at the exact right time. I loved revisiting Avalon Bay. Tate and Cassie's chemistry is combustible and I absolutely adored their banter. I loved getting to see the previous characters from this series, especially the beach games. I legit had several laugh-out-loud moments through this book.
There's some steam in this story, although not as much as in Kennedy's previous novels but she can definitely write some great steamy tension, and again - the chemistry is HOT!
Kennedy tackled some heavy topics of family dynamics and toxic family relationships. One of the things I really enjoyed was watching Cassie grow into her self-confidence. I loved Tate's character from the beginning of this series and I'm so happy that Cassie was his heroine. They were just such a fun, likable couple.
I just really loved this book. I adore this series.
Elle Kennedy delivers another wonderful novel into the world and made my heart so happy.
Thank you to Elle Kennedy, St. Martin's Griffin, and #Netgalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review
Tate and Cas' relationship from beginning to end was up and down. Love how all past characters of Avalone Bay evolve with each book, and the spice is still there. Drama is also part of the package, so watch out.
Honestly I really loved this book. I love a summer setting, and who doesn’t like a summer fling? Cassie and Tate were both very likable characters and I loved their connection. Tate was so much more complex and and emotional than you’d originally imagine and I love how he helped Cassie in so many ways. I honestly even cried twice in the last 15% of the book lol. Grateful for the opportunity to read this ARC! I will post a review on my Instagram on release day and update my feedback with the link to my post.
I just love this series! This one brought more drama then I was expecting. This book had me worked up a few times! It touches on complicated family lives and reminds us all that we all make mistakes and it doesn’t need to define us if we learn from it!
I spent every summer at a small lake resort so I am such a sucker for these books!
Grab a drink, get out the lawn chair and soak up this great book!
Thank you, net galley, for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review!
I started on my Elle Kennedy journey this year, and I am just loving her!
This one is the perfect summer read. It has a feel good summer fling, the banter, the flirting, all of it. It’s the perfect book to grab and read by the pool or at the beach! True to fashion, I loved this one of hers.
This book is the perfect summer beach read! I wish I was able to read it while laying on the sand near water, but alas that did not happen. I loved the romance in this book. Cassie & Tate felt like best friends and lovers! Their opposite lives and family differences gave a great dynamic to the story. I loved seeing Cassie grow and having a friend group solidified as well.
I did feel like the third act conflict came out of nowhere and not what I expected AT ALL. A bit out there but it was handled pretty well. The spice was also great! It added to their love story and didn’t overpower the book. The small town feeling and atmosphere was also *chefs kiss*. Overall, a super fun and cut beach read!
Thank you NetGalley for the arc🥰
Elle Kennedy does it again! i love her books and the continuation of this series was so good. i could use a little more spice, but that’s just me
Cassie grew up in Avalon Bay but hasn’t spent more than a week there since her parents got divorced. She returns for summer to help her grandma sell her business and house. Cassie develops friendships and relationships during this summer. There is some drama when her mother comes to help but ultimately brings Cassie closer to her father, stepmother, sisters, and even her boyfriend as well as his family.
I really enjoyed this summer beach read. It was a good friends to romance story packed full of some interesting family drama. I really enjoyed it and it was a very quick read for me.
4.5 ⭐️The best book so far in the Avalon Bay series and can 100% be read as a standalone (as I forgot about most of the characters in the previous two books).
When Cassie Soul ends up in Avalon Bay for the summer to spend time with her family, she meets Tate Bartlett, a local who is known for being a bit of a player. It isn’t long before a friendship forms, and the attraction makes Cassie determined to have a summer fling without any strings attached. However, as the two spend more time together, they discover that their feelings are way stronger than they ever intended them to be.
While this book was lighthearted and full of humor, there was also a lot of emotional topics integrated throughout the story, which I think makes this unique for an Elle Kennedy read. One of the biggest, was a broken mother/daughter relationship that at times was difficult to read about. However, Cassie’s new support system along with her resilience and positivity, made it easy to cheer her on. I also loved how her two younger half sisters were integrated into the story and all the smiles they brought! With regards to the romance, Tate was a great hero, and I loved the chapters from his POV! The audiobook narration was excellent.

This one was so much fun! It had the perfect summer beach vibes. I absolutely loved Cassie and Tate's relationship with each other. Their friendship made the romantic relationship even cuter once it happened. I wasn't a fan of the beginning back and forth between the two, but once it picked up I couldn't put it down. I also loved getting to see more of the characters from the previous books.
Thank you to the publisher for this e-arc!
I love Elle Kennedy and this book just screamed summer vibes! It was so good and held my attention well.
Cassie is back in Avalon Bay for her college summer break, something she hasn't really done since her parents divorced and her mom moved her to Boston. Her Grandmother just sold the family hotel and Cassie wants to enjoy the summer at the Bay with her family. She's also in the market for a passionate summer fling. She happens to run into one of the hottest guys she's ever seen on her first night back and can't believe her luck!
Tate is a sailing instructor known for never committing to a relationship. He has spent his whole life in Avalon Bay and is usually always down for a fling. As soon as he starts getting to know Cassie though, he realizes that the last thing he wants is to hurt this beautiful, cool, smart redhead who makes him laugh. He immediately friend-zones her but the more time they spend together as friends the more he thinks he has made a huge mistake.
I really enjoyed Cassie and Tate's love story! It was a little bit slow at first but I started getting more and more invested. I love how Tate pushed Cassie to stick up for herself and always be honest with her feelings. Cassie and Tate also have to deal with some family drama along the way which kept the story more engaging. This is a great summer romance, especially if you have enjoyed Kennedy's other books!
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the ARC!
Another enjoyable NA romance from Elle Kennedy!
I have, for the most part, liked Elle Kennedy’s books. However, after loving Good Girl Complex and being disappointed in Bad Girl Reputation, I didn’t have high hopes for The Summer Girl. However, I ended up really liking it! It started out super slow for me, and I got a little tired of the constant talk of physical attraction/relationship. Once I got about 30% in, I actually really liked the progression from attraction to friends to lovers, plus the usual drama from the Avalon Bay crew.
Overall, if you like Kennedy’s other books, I think you’ll like this one! Thanks to the publisher, Netgalley, and Kennedy for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
The Summer Girl is my favorite in the Avalon Bay series. I love how Elle Kennedy intertwined the history of the town with the characters in this book. This is exactly what I want when I think about a summer romance. Tate and Cassie are summer fling goals. I love the banter between these two, it made for a fun and enjoyable read. Tate is the confident playboy while Cassie is the sweet awkward summer girl.
Absolutely would recommend!
I was excited to read this because I really enjoyed Elle Kennedy's Off-Campus series, but I just don't think this one was for me. I found the dialogue strange- some of the slang that they used felt inauthentic to people in their early twenties (felt like an older person trying to sound young), and then they would also randomly use big, unusual words that felt too old for them. I also found it uncomfortable how often the size of Cassie's boobs were discussed and the words that were used to describe them. A lot of the descriptions in this book felt repetitive, too. How often can one person use the word wryly??
I did like the focus that was put on Cassie's relationship with her parents, and it was nice to see how Cassie and Tate made each other into better people. Plus, I will say that I didn't see the twist at the end coming! Overall, this is a classic beach read, but not the kind that I like.
