Elle Kennedy does it AGAN! I am obsessed with the AVALON BAY series and THE SUMMER GIRL does not disappoint. Cassie's story is a perfect addition to the series and makes for a perfect vacation or beach read. I highly recommend!
Of the three books in this series, this was the best - though I have 2 hang ups that are keeping it from a top rating. I always enjoy a friends to lovers trope and it was nice to have the storylines of the characters from the previous books wrapped up nicely. This is a fun, lighthearted (but still pretty smutty) beach read.
a fun and lighthearted book! not my favorite out of the series, but still had a good time reading it
I thought book #1 and 2 were okay, but I really struggled to get into this one. Maybe I’m too old? The character at 21 seemed really juvenile and I got bored with the whole summer sex trope.
I attempted to read this twice, unfortunately i decided to fully DNF. This book was just not for me!
"The Summer Girl" by Elle Kennedy is a lighthearted and entertaining novel that immerses readers in the world of summer romance. Kennedy's writing style is breezy, making it an easy and enjoyable read. The characters are likable, and the storyline carries the quintessential charm of a summer love story. However, the plot may lean on predictable elements, and some readers might crave more depth in character development. "The Summer Girl" earns a commendable 3.5 stars for its feel-good vibes and enjoyable narrative, with room for a bit more complexity in its storytelling.
Elle Kennedy has been a knockout author for me, and I was dying to read this book! It took me a lot longer to get into it; and I’m not sure if I ever really connected with the characters. Overall, I enjoyed it, but it isn’t my favorite of hers. I
My 3rd trip to Avalon Bay didn’t disappoint! Summer Girl was a fun and easy read! I really enjoyed Cassie and Tates banter, it kept me smiling through the whole book. I loved getting to catch up with Mac & Cooper and Gen & Evan from the previous books and seeing what they were up to. This book fits the bill for a summer, poolside read and perfect for anytime who wants some spicy romance in their life. All of the Avalon bay series can be read as stand-alones, but definitely read the series if you can because it’s so good!
Thank you St. Martins Press and NetGalley, for a copy in return for my honest review!
This is my favorite book out of the Avalon Bay series! I seriously will read anything that Elle Kennedy writes. I am so used to her hockey books, so this series was a nice change. This can be read as a standalone, but I recommend reading the books in order. Also there was just enough spice in it!
This was my first Avalon Bay novel and I loved it. I want to read the others. It was easily read as a standalone. The characters were sweet and in the cold this winter I wanted desperately to head to the warmth of the sea. Excellent writing and I am intrigued to read the other novels in this series.
Cassie decided to spend her vacation in Avalon with her grandma. Tate has lived in Avalon for a long time.
SHe is there for a summer fling. He is not looking for anything. When they become friends, you never know what will happen.
This was a fun book. I read it quickly. I would read another book by this author again
Great book by Elle Kennedy. We return to Avalon Bay and this time it’s Tate and Cassie’s story! Great spice level. I love the characters and love seeing some old favorites from Good Girl/Bad Girl. All in all a satisfying romp through the beachside town.
It’s flippin cold here and this book made me think I like summer (I am not really a fan, but this book had me dreaming). First I should admit that this is my first Avalon Bay novel, so I can’t compare it to the rest of the series. And it can be read as a stand alone.
This had me from the start. I loved Cassie and Tate and rooted for them from the start. They had great chemistry and witty banter. The playboy and the virgin trope was done well and the two seemed like a good fit.
I need to look up other books by the author and give them a try.
Thank you NetGalley and St Martins Press for this arc of The Summer Girl by Elle Kennedy.
I one hundred percent enjoyed this book. I always enjoy good banter, pretty likable main/side characters (except Cassie’s mom, insert eye roll), dual POV and a bit of a twist at the end. This had a nice amount of spice too. There is one trope that was presented later in the book that I didn’t care for, but I won’t mention it as I don’t want to spoil it for another reader. The book could’ve been a bit shorter as well. Some of the parts towards 60-70% of the book kind of drug on and became a little annoying.
I absolutely recommend this book. It’s a great pool or beach read. This was my first Elle Kennedy book and I will absolutely read more of her books. This is also apart of a series, but can be read as a standalone.
This is the third book in the Avalon Bay Series although you could read as a stand alone.
🩷 Dual POV
🩷 Good banter and chemistry
🩷 Ending has a good twist you won’t see coming!
🩷 Not super spicy
This was a DNF for me. I tried to connect with the characters and story but just couldn’t seem to get into it. Sad 😔
Unfourtunalty I couldn't get into this book. As we all know sometimes books can hit us at certain times and this one wasn't being read at the right time. I am hoping to revisit and when I do I will come and give an updated review,
Overall this was a fun read! Cassie and Tate had great chemistry and it was an easy and fun read with a twist u didn’t see coming. Friends to lovers isn’t my favorite trope but I love the teaching the friend dating tips and advice and then falling hard for them which Kennedy did well here! I like the Avalon Bay series but I prefer Kennedy’s hockey books.
Thank you St Martin's Press for the ARC in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts are my own.
I thought that this was a fun romance. However, I realized that it is not my favorite type of romance. I don't love the almost instant love between the main characters. I also really do not like how objectifying. I did like the setting and the descriptions. I also really like that there are a bunch of friendships and examples of strong female friendships that support one another.
This is the story of Cassie who moves back to Avalon Bay for the summer to house sit. She meets Tate a sailing instructor. Cassie and Tate find themselves kissing at a party. However, Tate quickly puts Cassie in the friend-zone. Though after not too long he realizes just how big of a mistake that is for them. Can they handle staying in the friend-zone or will the attraction win finding them in a relationship?
Content: Sex, make outs, swearing (f words)

Summer Romance
A fun summer romance read. It's not as spicy as other Elle Kennedy books, but I actually appreciated that. It didn't need the extra smut. I loved Tate and he is my absolute favorite Avalon Bay boyfriend.
I had a hard time getting into this one. I can usually devour any Elle Kennedy book, but this one was missing something. The conflict, the chase? A good twist at the end that I honestly didn't see coming, but was resolved within a chapter. I liked it, but I didn't love it. The Briar U books are superior in my opinion.
