The Summer Girl is a great book to get you in the summer state of mind. It is the third in the series so always good to "catch up" with the characters. Elle does a wonderful setting the scene and developing the characters. A definite summer read!

The summer girl
5 ⭐️

Passion, Fun & Romance it nicely wraps up the novel!
By far my favorite Avalon Bay story ❤️!
Perfect beach read for when this book 📖 publishes on July 18 !
Go read the first two if you haven’t! It can definitely be read as a stand alone but it’s great to see the background characters and to see how the hotel comes along. Such a great plot and drama it definitely had some deep parent/child topics but in my opinion so believable and achieved beautifully. Highly recommend! Thank you NetGalley for the Arc. Perfect summer romance.

Leave it to mom to reveal a harrowing family secret once you reach adulthood.

This was good. I didn't love it. Generally, I am a fan of Kennedy's, and the characters are nice to spend time with. I was just bored a lot of the time.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

I haven’t read any of the other books in the Avalon Bay series, but I feel like you can read this as a stand-alone no problem.

The characters are quite likeable and I enjoyed reading about this cute little town called Avalon Bay. I also really enjoyed the relationships and banter with the characters.

****SPOILERS BEGIN****

Tate’s interactions with Cassie’s little sisters just warms my heart and the fact he gets along with everyone and everyone likes him makes this book that much more enjoyable.

The whole relationship with Tate and Cassie was also so cute and it just melted my heart at some points.

****SPOILERS END****

I really liked this book and I know I’ll be reading more Elle Kennedy books in the future. It had the right amount of spice, drama and cute romance-y stuff.

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s publishing for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.

The third book in the Avalon Bay series did not disappoint! It has all of the fun, drama and sexiness of the first two. I really liked Cassie and Tate’s story, which is told in dual pov. There are several fun tropes included here: summer fling, player meets virgin, they were neighbors (forced proximity). There are several explicit open door scenes as is usual in Elle Kennedy books as well as a very steamy window scene. I really enjoyed seeing the couples from the first two books throughout this one. The big dramatic twist truly shocked me, an actual jaw dropping moment. I could’ve done with less reminders of how big Cassie’s boobs were. Overall this is another great installment for fans of the series and author!

While I have read several books by Elle Kennedy in the past, I hadn't read one from the Avalon series, but it didn't disappoint! The overall story follows Cassie, a girl visiting her grandmother who is selling the family hotel over the summer. In her attempt to be a "normal" summer girl, she is determined to have a summer fling, and her first attempt is her next-door neighbor, Tate. Golden-boy in his own right, Tate wants to do the right thing, and he sets out to help Cassie instead on her search for passion, but soon questions if anyone but him can do the job.

At first, the plot seems fairly superficial: It's summer, and everyone is looking to hook up. While my expectations for a deep plot were not high, Elle Kennedy somehow is able to lace a really interesting story into this romance through Cassie's family and surrounding community. It was truly this underlying story of Cassie navigating her parents lives after the haze of their divorce that kept me hooked with this story and wanting to read more. There was also a twist that I NEVER saw coming but, nevertheless, was incredibly plausible. I feel that its hard to be able to pull off a twist of that nature in a romance novel. Speaking of romance, Tate and Cassie definitely had chemistry! While their insta-love meeting felt a bit ridiculous at the start, they soon developed a good rapport. In fact, they had good flirting banter that had me chuckling at points especially when Tate is "helping" Cassie find a date. There were also multiple spice scenes that felt like maybe I shouldn't be reading due to the nature of their intimacy. Since its difficult to be discreet, I'll just say, the cutesie cover is deceiving, folks! The one drawback thought is that the constant back and forth of "Will they? Won't they?" dragged on a bit too long. At a certain point, it was no longer a good tension, but a frustrating strain. It could just be that I wanted to see them as a happy relationship that I struggled.

As for characters, I really appreciated that the book was dual POV. I got to see both Tate and Cassie's thoughts on the same event which was fun to compare. While I really enjoyed Cassie's narrative and found her likable and relatable, I really loved her best friend. She was funny, wild, and the perfect balance to the book. I honestly wished she could have been in it more. That is all to say that the supporting characters are just a well done as the main characters. This could be due to the fact that other characters from the Avalon series pop up that it feels so fleshed out. While it isn't necessary to read the other books in the series, their inclusion made me want to snag the next one!
Overall, this was the perfect beach read. It has a good blend of romance (watch out for those spicy scenes, ya'll!), drama, and heartfelt goodness. I would recommend it to anyone who is wanting a light read that packs some kick.

This was my first Elle Kennedy book and I know this was part of a series. I haven’t read book 1&2 so I think I was at a disadvantage and I would recommend you read the first 2 books in the series because I just felt at times a little lost. Aside from that I enjoyed the book and I plan to reread after I finish the first 2

Confession - I hadn’t read books 1&2 in the series but heard wonderful things about book 2 so I wanted to check this out.
It was good! I liked the characters a lot and the writing kept my attention allowing me to read it in just a few sittings. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the family drama, but that’s ok! It didn’t take away too much from the book.
I say overall 3.5⭐️ And I’ll check out books 1&2

The Summer Girl is another brilliant story from Elle Kennedy in the Avalon Bay series. It's witty, funny, sexy, emotional, and heartbreakingly beautiful. Set in a small town, this slow-burn romance is exactly what I needed without even knowing it! The setting, the characters, the storyline....everything about it is perfect!

I adored Cassie. She's strong, resilient, and knows what she wants. She has scars that run deep and have plagued her since childhood. But it takes a lot for her to face those scars and work to heal them. Tate is the golden boy of Avalon Bay. He's honest, hard-working, completely swoon-worthy, charismatic, and sexy as hecl. He and Cassie have chemistry right out of the gate and I loved watching their connection grow as the book progressed. Tate and Cassie were so fun and I found myself laughing out loud at their smart, witty dialogue. I loved them together!

Kennedy built Tate and Cassie's story at the perfect pace. And, just when you think you know what's going to happen...*BAM*.....she drops an unexpected bombshell and takes the story in another direction. It's raw and real and will break your heart. But in the end, Tate and Cassie get a beautiful HEA that will make your heart smile. I really adored The Summer Girl and really hope there will be more books coming down the pike set in Avalon Bay. 5 stars

This was such a fun summer read.
Cassandra is staying in a small boating town with her grandmother to say goodbye to a family business and the end of an era. About to go into her senior year of college, Cassie is determined to have a passionate fling during her summer break. When she runs into Tate, a local who is known for having flings but treating women right, it seems like fate.

I loved the characters. Tate is so sweet and funny and Cassie was very relatable. I loved their friendship and loved how they interacted when they finally got together. Fun side characters and family drama made the story complete. It is part of an interconnected series, which I have not read, but now I very much want to go back to see how things went for the other characters. They made an appearance in this book but I never felt lost.

Thank you Netgalley for an arc copy in exchange for an honest review.

4.2/5⭐️ Summer Girl (Avalon Bay series)- Elle Kennedy

𝐓𝐇𝐎𝐔𝐆𝐇𝐓𝐒:

In terms of (smutty) romance- Elle Kennedy tops the list. I was so excited to get this ARC- especially because her books are understated in the fact that the drama/plot is not insanely over the top just to get a response, it’s usually about relatable people with relatable problems.

This story by her definitely felt more in depth than the briar u and off campus series I’ve read by her (we traded in the hockey players for some beach town locals) dealing with some serious family issues, body image issues, etc.

She writes such lovable male leads and the universes she’s made up for these series are so fun to read about . I think my favorite thing about her books is that she references the same places and we get to learn about different supporting characters in the other series books.

Now I am going to do the thing I always do when I read the first Elle book in a series and binge the rest to get more of the characters I just met.

Keep your eye out for this (book 3 of avalon bay series, although her series don’t need to be read in order necessarily) pub date July 18!

Well this book was just a big dose of serotonin. I absolutely loved Summer Girl by Elle Kennedy. Thank you St. Martin’s Press and Netgalley for this book. I finished it in one day, and it was even a normal day with work and afterschool kid activities.

Cassie is spending the summer with her grandmother in the Southern beach town she grew up in until her parent’s divorced. Her grandmother is moving at the end of summer so this is truly her last summer in Avalon Bay. About to enter her senior year of college (at none other than Briar U), Cassie is looking to gain some experience with boys and have a summer fling.

This is where Tate enters. Tate, a local who works at the yacht club and the family business, is beloved by everyone in Avalon Bay. He’s blond, built, and been with just about every girl in town. But he refusing to have a fling with Cassie. If you loved Garrett Graham in The Deal, then you will love Tate (he had me convinced of his charm the first time I met him, which is quite hilarious).

Cassie and Tate are both surrounded by a large friend group, which in the beginning was slightly confusing but by the end I had all the names and personalities down. Cassie’s grandmother is a charming presence and Tate’s family mimics an 80s sitcom. While the book is a romance, the nature of Tate and Cassie’s family differences are highlighted throughout the entire book.

What starts as friendship blossoms to something more but it can’t last. This book has some predictable qualities, as most romances do. That said, there were some unpredictable elements that truly surprised me.

A fun easy beach read; Bonus points for spicy. This is the 3rd installment of the Avalon Bay series. All the characters are pretty likeable. The story itself provides enough drama and depth to keep things interesting. The chemistry between the two lead characters is palpable. I really enjoyed this book!

This book is a part of a larger series of Avalon Bay but this book can be read as a standalone. The character of Cassie is an new and fresh perspective on college girls as she is aware she doesn't have that much experience but wants to have a real connection. Tate on the other hand did not start off strong. His perspective heavily sexualized Cassie and focused a lot on her body and sexual appeal without really a reason why. It felt out of place and turned me a bit away from the book. However throughout the book his character was improved. There was obviously intention with making him less sex absorbed as the story went on, but it still doesn't set him up for a positive start. I thought it was off putting. The ending felt very forced in terms of conflict but I feel like the last chapter tied it back together well.

This is my first time reading Ms. Kennedy after she gave us the masterpiece that is Garrett Graham and … I wasn't over the moon. I'm glad that I went into this book (the 3rd in the series) completely oblivious to what happens in the other two books. The plot was just drama filled and not with the MC's but with their parents!!! INSANE like just write a book about them at the point. Not gonna lie the window scene was spicy honey but other than that very lacking!
I 100% know that these too break up after the epilogue.

5/5 stars - Another amazing book by Elle Kennedy!!

Thank you to St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for sending me an arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I requested to review this book the second I saw that it was available on NetGalley. I absolutely enjoyed reading the other two Avalon Bay books! Like the other two books, this can be read as a standalone but it does contain minor spoilers if you don't read it in order. I recommend reading them as they came out.

This book features Cassie and Tate. Cassie comes back to Avalon Bay for one last summer looking for a summer fling. She meets Tate, the resident hookup king, on her first night in town. They spark an interesting friendship that eventually leads to more.

The book was a quick read that contains everything a summer romance should have. It has a great balance of plot and romance. Main trope in my opinion is friends to lovers.

3.5-4 ⭐️ NetGalley advanced copy. Enjoyed the story. Loved the characters. Haven’t read the first 2 books of the series and didn’t feel like I was missing anything. Perfect beach read!

Can I give this ten stars?? EASILY the best book out of the Avalon Bay series. The other two were good but I can honestly say this is one of the best books I’ve read in a long time. It was so cute and I couldn’t find a single thing I hated about Tate or Cassie. They were perfect in this story. Cassie is so relatable and Tate is a great guy, just a bit of a player. So of course I knew he’d change his ways 🤷‍♀️

I love a good small town beach setting, and then you throw in a friends to lovers trope and I’m sold. Once I started this, I was immediately hooked and I didn’t wanna stop. The kind of book you wanna stay up all night reading.

So so good. When I finished it, I genuinely smiled to myself and was just so content. I would highly recommend this to anyone who likes a cute beach romance.

Also solid shoutout to Briar U at the end, I love the connection.

I love the Avalon Bay series so I was extremely excited to see the next book on NetGalley. Thank you NetGalley and St. Martins for an advanced copy of this ebook.

This book is a dual POV just like the other two books in the series. I love this because we get to see what both our main characters are thinking/ feeling and see their motivations behind their actions and character development.

This is a fun, entertaining read with a bit of spice. At first I was a little nervous since this book is not about Alana and Tate but Cassie is a great character to get behind and (almost) made me forget about Alana.

The dialogue was a little cheesy, but it’s a summer romance novel so it’s expected and bareable. The conflict was realistic and the characters reacted in levelheaded ways and supported each other throughout. This one is definitely more of a swoony romance than books 1 and 2.

I loved this book, possibly more than the other two in Avalon Bay.... I know, I'm sorry. But Tate and Cassie were simply team too much. Too much cuteness, too much witty banter too much angst and spice and communication, but in all the best ways.

I don't even know where to start, really, because it's hard not to give away spoilers.... bear with me here....

Cassie is back in Avalon Bay to help her grandmother Lydia pack up her house to move her north to Boston. Lydia is the former owner of the Beacon, which Mac bought in The Good Girl Complex. Cassie has one mission, okay two. First to help her grandmother and most importantly to have a summer Fling. Cassie is a virgin and just wants to gain experience in a no pressure. Fling and as luck would have it, she runs into Tate the local F***boy of Avalon Bay on her first night.

Luckily, Mac steps in and sets Tate straight. He will break Cassie's little heart, so he decides they should be friends and that he will be her wingman. The banter between Tate and Cassie had me grinning through this whole book. Both Tate and Cassie come from very different backgrounds and find comfort with each other's company.

This book does have a 3rd act breakup (kind of more 4th quarter, but i digress), but it's not like you think there is no miscommunication, which is so refreshing. But it's literally the only 3rd act break up that's elicited a physically draining of my tear ducts. 😭😭😭😭 The author takes this overdone trope and spins it on its head. And I love her for that!

As far as spice level goes, I'll put it at a three star, maybe 2.5, but the window scene has me really leaning more toward a three. It doesn't take up a lot of the book, but I think for verbiage.... if you don't like the P word for kitty, you may be offended while reading. 🤣

That being said, watching both MCs grow up and grow together over this summer, I so enjoyed it. I'm in my mid 30's and it brought me back to carefree summers of my early 20s. If you like the following, you will enjoy this book:

*small town romance
*slow burn
*friends to lovers
*virgin
*he falls first
*opposites attract

I feel like I should add, since I've gone ahead and given spoilers already.... that Cassie deals with a very unhealthy relationship with her mom, who is a narcissistic person that I think boarders of a sociopath, but hey, I'm not a professional. So, if you're sensitive to that, just take it into consideration.

This book is a part of the Avalon Bay series but can most definitely be read as a standalone.

Thank you Netgalley and St.Martins Press for the chance to read this Arc!
