I was given an opportunity to listen to the audiobook early and am giving an honest and truthful review. This audiobook was a nonstop, action packed ride from beginning to the very end. The narrator really made the book come to life. I loved her style of characterization. She kept the story moving along and kept even-tempoed during assassanations. This is the second book in the series but it is a true standalone, I didn’t feel like I was missing anything by not having read the first book. I know it won’t be my last. Looking forward to the next novel by Cara Black. The book is filled with spies, but before you get to cocky thinking you know everything you find a beehive of double agents. It is 1942 WWII. Towards the end you find there are even triple agents you would not suspect. This is a mystery/thriller that ii s suspenseful to the very end. One that will be on your mind for awhile. Yes, I would definitely recommend this to anyone especially if you like some mystery, espionage and suspense. This book will be for you. I have two arms up, jazz hands palms out, two thumbs up, eight fingers up! I loved it so much.! Special thanks to the following for allowing me to review early,

Listened to the audiobook and the narration was done very well. Throughly enjoyed my first book by Cara Black. This book follows up on “Three Hours in Paris”, which is the first book in the series. However, this can book can be read, or listened to as a standalone. The book had me constantly wondering what was going to happen next. Agent Kat Rees is on a mission to take revenge on those that caused the death of her husband and daughter. So many twist and turns and double agents. I’m looking forward to reading/listening to more of Cara Black’s books.

This is my first book by Cara Black, and I did enjoy the audiobook narrated by Elisabeth Rodgers. She gave voice to all the well written characters so beautifully. What a rollercoaster of a ride. So many double and triple agents, wow.

An accident in Copenhagen Denmark causes her husband David & daughter Elizabeth deaths, which haunts Kate Rees. Colonel Alfred Stepney comes out of retirement and brings Kate Rees back to undertake a fast paced and highly dangerous mission. She now must leave Scotland where she is an instructor training sharpshooters and go to Paris France, and then down the Nile River in Cairo Egypt.

She is known as the cowgirl. She is an amazing assassin, kills a Shek, 4 killers, and many others along the way to try to complete her mission. She runs into many surprises, a friend from her past, a package she can't refuse, her parachuting out of a plane, and an ending that will have you saying thanks for the ride & this read.

"The best agent is the one you don't suspect."

I didn't read "Three Hours In Paris", the first book in the Kate Rees series, but since a lot of information is given, this can be read as a standalone.

Thank you NetGalley, RB Media, and Cara Black for the ARC of this audiobook.

I received a copy of Night Flight to Paris for an honest review.

Tis is the second book in Cara Black's series, which I didn't realize until I began the book.. It was a pleasant surprise to pick back up with Kate.

I chose the audio option, and the narrator was very good. I'd say she added to the story.

The story is fast-paced with many surprises. I enjoyed seeing how Kate got out of one scrape after another. I was also happy to see her character grow.

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys suspense or war thrillers.

Sharpshooter Kate Rees is once again in Paris on a World War II mission. She is wanted by the Gestapo from her previous mission, and must become part of the French underground to identify a traitor. While dodging the Gestapo, helping servicemen escape, and fulfilling her sharpshooter assignments, she is constantly on the run. This story is so fast moving and intense, its hard for the reader ( and Kate) to catch her breath. This is a great follow up to THREE DAYS IN PARIS.

During WWIi, Kate, a sharpshooter,is working as an agent for the British government. She's sent on a mission to pickup a package in Paris and eliminate a target. She won't know who the target is or what the package is., until she gets to Paris. But once Kate gets there, nothing is as it seems and she doesn't know who to trust or if she is being set up.
Night Flight to Paris is the second book in the Kate Rees World War II series by Cara Black, and it was an exciting, suspenseful ride. I plan on reading book 1 after enjoying this one.
I was given an ARC of Night Flight to Paris by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Kate Rees’ quiet life ends abruptly when she is sent on a mission with multiple tasks, each with an increase in risk to do her part in the war effort.

I enjoyed listening to this novel and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys historical fiction.

This audiobook was provided by RB media for an honest review. Thank you! All thoughts below are my own.

This book is a sequel to Three Hours in Paris. There is the same main character who was tasked with assassinating Hitler in the first book. Since then Kate Rees has left the spycraft and is taking a training job as a sharpshooting instructor in Scotland. Her quiet life is disrupted by Colonel Stepney . He has a three pronged mission for her. Each of these are more dangerous then the last one. Deliver a package of penicillin to sick children, assassinate a high-ranking German operative, and rescue a British agent. This one will have you reading on the edge of your seat. I enjoyed this one. There was a lot of action and was well written. I thought the narrator did a great job especially needing to have skills for multiple accents.

"These are your orders"...twists and turns at every tuen of the page. This is historic fiction at its absolute best!

I generally like historical fiction, but this was not a book for me. I found the main character to be an anxiety-ridden mess considering she was supposed to be a cool sniper. So many of the situations that she stumbles upon seemed contrived and unbelievable and I found myself just wanting to get to the end. I did enjoy the narrator who put a little bit of emotion into the story. Thank you to RB Media and NetGalley for the early listen to this audiobook for my honest opinion.

American female sniper Kate Rees is back for another secret mission to help stop the Nazi’s in WWII. She has a mission to shoot a high ranking Nazi, deliver a much needed package and pick up an asset. Her missions do not go as planned and she must try to stay alive by being resourceful, changing plans and asking help from others whom she doesn’t know if they are friend or foe. Her one phrase that she keeps saying over and over is DON’T TRUST ANYONE. There are so many double and triple agents that she has to trust her instinct to stay alive. It’s another great book by Cara Black.
I listened to the audio book and really enjoyed the narrator, Elisabeth Rodgers, who did a great job of changing her voice and accent for all the different characters.
Thanks to NetGalley for the early release and letting me listen to the book.

Narrator read with what sounded like a hurried hushed voice which fit the character perfectly.
Hard to stop listening. Unpredictable. Great Character.

Thanks to Netgally and RB Media for the e-arc audio version in exchange for an honest review.

This is an overly dramatic WWII spy thriller. While there is plenty of action, many of the situations just felt too contrived for me. Basically the heroine gets sent out on sniper missions, the missions never quite work the way they're supposed to, and everybody seems to have alternate agendas. I do not think it was based upon an actual historic event in WWII. While women contributed, I do not think it was in this fashion.

The audio portion was very well done by Elizabeth Rodgers. She made the book more enjoyable with her reading style. I just did not believe the story.

Thank you to NetGalley and RB Media, Recorded Books for an early audiobook version of Night Flight to Paris read by Elisabeth Rodgers. This is the 2nd in a series about Kate Rees. Kate’s character was well developed in the first book, but is decently redeveloped in this book, just in case you didn’t read book 1. Cara Black does a nice job of weaving a story around potential historic events. (It is not clear whether these were real, made up, or based on potentially real stories, as the copy of the book I listened to did not have the typical author’s note that indicates what is real and what is not. The first book did include this, and the author mentioned using historical events to guide her fiction. Therefore, I assume the actual events in this book are how Cara Black imagines events taking place.)

She tells the story of how spies during WWII were sent blind into a directive and expected to do as they are told, without question, all while being told to trust no one. Therefore the premise of the story is you are sent to Paris, with a directive: deliver penicillin, kill a mark, save the package and do it all while not trusting anyone. That being said, you have been given no information on where to deliver the penicillin, who and where to shoot the mark, and where and how to get the package, but you aren’t supposed to trust anyone? This part felt a little too far-fetched. I get that operatives could not know too much, but the little bit Kate is given to go on just didn’t feel right to me.

Another part of the book that I did not like was the same as the first book of the series, but was worse in this book. The author tries to portray the fear Kate is feeling, but she did it too much using the same words each time. I think the author should not explain the protagonist’s feelings as much and switch between the physical aspects of being afraid and words, and sometimes a combination, rather than always saying "this is it, I'm going to die they found me" or some very close approximation to that. I believe that people like Kate Rees, actually do not mentally agonize over what could be, they just do, it is the lack of anxiety that keeps them alive, but that is my opinion, I have no scientific proof of that.

Cara Black’s Night Flight to Paris is an edge of your seat thriller that takes American sharpshooter Kate Rees from Scotland to Paris to Cairo and back to France. In a fast paced and engaging story set during the Nazi occupation of France, Kate is a skilled marksman trained to assess the situation and strike. This book, a sequel to Three Hours in Paris, provides enough background from the first novel to be read as a standalone. Knowing nothing about rifles I totally accepted that Black had researched and was thoroughly familiar with the operation of the weapon of assassination she so casually brandished. With the story’s focus primarily on Kate’s exploits the reader only gets to know her while the other characters are quickly and sometimes confusedly introduced. They often only serve as a foil for a string of daredevil activities such as shooting a Nazi officer from a balcony and jumping out of a plane to pick up information at a drop. There were many twists and turns to this story. Who was the enemy? Was her mission compromised? Still all in all it was time well spent and improved by the audiobook format with an outstanding narrator who really brought the story to life without letting up.

Many thanks to Netgalley, RB Media, Recorded Books and the author, for the ALC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This second installment of Kate Rees's spy journey takes her back to Paris. Kate, an american born, british spy is once again in Nazi occupied Paris, but this time she is on a multiple missions but on a very short deadline. Kate was finally almost in a good place workting as a shooting instructor in Scottish midlands, when she is called in for this assignment by her former handler. Having been kept in the dark and almost used as a dead ruse, this time Kate decides hold her ground and make her requirements known. However, what she doesn't anticipate is that people who might seem to be working with her was also working with multiple others, some who might even be the enemies. With no time to plan, she is once again thrust into the middle of the mayhem and she needs to be able to guess and that too correctly, who the double, and triple agents are all while completing her missions, one of which is extracting someone who is close to her.

A fast paced, action thriller set in a true historical setting that keeps you on your toes. It was not just Kate that was guessing, it was me too. Almost every time, Kate held her breath, so did I. I enjoyed this book way more than book 1. The grief that overlay Kate in book 1 was somehow a thicker cloud in this one. The way the story progressed from one tight spot to another, yet kept hold of Kate's past and her emotions was abslutely brilliant.

TW: war, death, murder, blood, gore, betrayal, drug abuse, Seaxual abuse, war crimes.

I didn't realise this was a sequel when I requested as I typically skip over the parts of the description that look like endorsement and go to the actual synopsis. That said, I don't know how much it really affected my reading as I only noticed when I went to add the book to goodreads.

I definitely think I would have benefited from reading the first book as i was sort of just thrown in but I'm not sure if I'd had found it any higher than a 3 star. Honestly, some books just don't stick with you, and you forget what happened in them, and this was one.

Night Flight to Paris by Cara Black

I received a complimentary audio copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

American by birth, spy by training and sharpshooter by choice, Kate Rees is sent to Paris on a mission that could help end World War ll. Kate’s knowledge of her assignment is gradually exposed to her as time passes and opportunities/obstacles occur. She mentally questions the motives and honesty of everyone she encounters.

This is a well written story of spy craft that one does not often see, with Kate as the main character and other females playing pivotal roles in WWll.

My interest was held by the fast moving and action packed plot set mostly in Paris. This was my first introduction to Cara Black and I look forward to reading her other titles. The narration by Elisabeth Rodgers was excellent and definitely added to my enjoyment.

Thank you to NetGalley for the advance audio copy.

Thank you to the publishers, author and NetGalley for the free copy of this audio book.

I went back and read the first book in the series but would have been fine reading this as a standalone. Good action, and fast paced. Pretty exciting read, and the narrator was good.
