Once again, Stuart Gibbs is quite an entertaining genius! I'm still laughing and may never stop after reading the third installment in the "Once Upon a Tim" series. I had already read the previous 2 Tim books but you don't have to read them to enjoy and savor them.
The knights-in-training, Tim and Belinda, are back. Belinda is a girl in a boy's knight's clothing, since knighthood inequality exists. Their mission, along with a shipload of fellow knights, is the find the Queen of Merryland's golden fleece, and locating the mystical amulet in its pocket. Now, the mystical amulet is quite important and keep reading to find out more.
The characters' names are so clever. When the town crier cries, he really cries. The bloodthirsty, scary creatures will entertain you to no end. The hydra, a giant monster, is cleverly destroyed even though he was suppose to be the destroyer.
What's especially noteworthy is the IQ Booster, an arrow next to words that readers might not know, which is followed by their definition so they will understand their meanings. It's a great learning tool.
The theme for those wild knights is one of importance. Being smart is more important than just being brave.
What's so clever is that the book ends on a cliffhanger, which the IQ Booster immediately defines. My elementary school students will surely be counting the days until the next book in the series surfaces to find out what Tim and company do next.
