When I read Archer's Voice, I had nothing but hatred for Travis. He wasn't likable in the least until the very end when he put others before himself. From the beginning of this book, it was evident that Travis went through a major metamorphosis; his relationship with Archer and his family was on a good note. But his personal life left something to be desired. He lost his girlfriend, his rental house was flooded that he had to check in to the B&B, and everyone in town was speculating he was the reason why his relationship fell apart. When he met Haven Torres, she was the last person he expected to be his safe space, his own personal haven.

This book was riddled with self-discovery for Travis. Feeling like second best his entire life, Travis doesn't feel worthy. It didn't help that his mother fed him toxic thoughts, still wanting revenge for the husband who left her for Archer's mother. I sobbed when Travis got rid of the evidence that he could claim half of Pelion Lake from Archer. That exhibited the selflessness he's learned over the years. Travis was a redemption story that showed that even the most hard-hearted of people can change and accept love and support, that they could be a pillar for someone else who needed to plant roots, that he was worthy of the love his brother and family gave him. Spending time with Haven aided in Travis's metamorphosis. It was with her that Travis could love and be loved.

I received an advance copy of this book at my request from the publisher and voluntarily left this review.

I really wanted to love this one as much as I loved Archers Voice, that being said, I still found it enjoyable, the bits with Archer and Bree were unsurprisingly my favorite parts.

I read Archer's Voice last year and couldn't wait to read Travis' story. I love a good redemption story! I really enjoyed reading about Travis and the characters in the small town of Pelion. Haven is a feisty heroine and I would have liked more of a backstory. Also, I felt that the issues Travis and Haven had that kept them apart boiled down to poor communication--one of my pet peeves!

Travis Hale grew up with the feeling that he was second best to Archer Hale and it has led him to an adulthood where his greatest fear is being someone’s second choice. After reading 𝘛𝘳𝘢𝘷𝘪𝘴, I have to say, his feelings are accurate. 𝘛𝘳𝘢𝘷𝘪𝘴 is no 𝘈𝘳𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘳'𝘴 𝘝𝘰𝘪𝘤𝘦.

I think all of bookstagram collectively loves 𝘈𝘳𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘳'𝘴 𝘝𝘰𝘪𝘤𝘦, and 𝘛𝘳𝘢𝘷𝘪𝘴 just doesn't compare. That's not to say it's a bad book. There is character development and depth to this one as well, but I just feel like it pales in comparison. I didn't like Travis in 𝘈𝘳𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘳'𝘴 𝘝𝘰𝘪𝘤𝘦, and while he does make some positive steps in the end of AV, I was still curious how a book with him would (or if it even could) change my opinion of him. While we do get more of his back story and this helps us to understand some of his behaviors in AV and maybe be more sympathetic to his character, I still didn’t fall for him like I did Archer, and it wasn’t enough to sway me personally to feel as much towards the characters in the book.

Objectively speaking, 𝘛𝘳𝘢𝘷𝘪𝘴 has a lot of the elements that readers loved about AV. Mia Sheridan does a great job with prose and writing a story that engages the reader. I flew through this one in about 2-3 days and it was easy to read. There is tragic backstories for both of our main characters. There are some quirky townspeople who make the reader chuckle. There are all the small town vibes and some pretty well written smut in there too. I truly do think other readers could enjoy this one like they did AV.

However, subjectively speaking, I just couldn’t connect with Travis and found myself cringing and rolling my eyes at a lot of the things he said (looking at you - “I date prom queens”. What kind of man in their 30s says that?). He was still pretty unlikable at the beginning and I didn’t feel like he did enough through the book to hook me until his “growth” at the end. I liked Haven well enough, but didn’t feel a connection between Travis and Haven like I did Archer and Bree. There was some chemistry, but we also had a heavy dose of miscommunication/lack of communication that I struggled really caring about them for a lot of the book. I did LOVE all the times that we got to see Bree and Archer and their happy family now, and there was a nice ending with some more closure with Travis and Archer that made me happy.

Overall, I was disappointed in my return to Pelion, but I know it was my personal feelings towards Travis and how long it takes his character to develop in this book. The book was fine and worth reading, and there were definitely good elements to it, but it didn’t give me the same feelings I got when reading 𝘈𝘳𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘳'𝘴 𝘝𝘰𝘪𝘤𝘦.

I rate this one 3.5 out of 5 stars

I received a copy of this book from #NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I really loved the friendly dynamic between Travis and Haven. The storyline was a nice addition to Archer’s Voice which I really loved also.

Travis was exactly what I was hoping it would be. It wasn’t the perfection of Archer, but that magic would be hard to capture again. Absolutely loved it.

I have been waiting to read this book since reading Archer’s voice. Archer’s voice was one of my favorite reads last year so I knew it would be hard to top. I was so happy to get a few mentions of Archer and Bree throughout the book! I was worried I was going to hate travis, since he wasn’t very likable in Archer’s book. Travis surprised me and I actually really enjoyed his character in this book. He truly got his redemption story. I always love books like this where the girl comes to visit a small town but isnt staying and then of course falls in love and has to make a decision. I also really liked Havens plant loving character, and her brother Easton (who i hope gets a book of his own!). The ending was a little more than I needed, but overall I loved this book!

If you read Archers Voice and loved it, you will want to check out Travis to see more of Archer, Bree and Travis. It was definitely great going back to Pelion and seeing if Travis could become a better person after everything that happened in Archers Voice. I definitely enjoyed reading more and learning about events from Archers voice but from Travis’ point of view. He definitely redeems himself in this one.

SO good! Such a great follow-up go Archer’s Voice! I was so thrilled to get back to Pelion Lake and with the characters and small town I fell in love with. This one felt much quicker and lacked some of the depth I would have loved to see, that Archer’s Voice had.

I want to preface this review by saying that I did not read Archer’s voice before picking up Travis. I know, I know. But after I convinced my friend to give me a couple MILD spoilers, I was not lost at all.
From what I gathered, sounds like Travis needed a little redemption, and in my opinion, he got it!
I really REALLY loved his and Haven’s friendship/relationship. The changes Travis went through from the beginning to the end of the book made him a very like-able character. And don’t even get me started on the “crew” of secondary characters! 😍😍

Now I MUST go read Archer’s Voice and get the rest of the story!

MIA SHERIDAN NEVER DISAPPOINTS!! This is my fourth book from her and I of course loved every second of it! If you loved Archer's Voice, you'll love this one!!

Travis Hale is the chief of police in the small town of Pelion, Maine, regularly has women fall at his feet, two nephews and a niece he adores, and a family who's mostly forgiven him after a series of unfortunate decisions years before. His life seems great until a new guy, Easton Torres, messes up Travis's idea of his future comes into town with his sister. Haven Torres is a smoothie-making, crazy plant lady from California. She is not at all Travis's type but that shouldn't matter because she is convinced that Gage Buchanan is her perfect match. Travis and Haven end striking up an unlikely friendship in which turns into Travis helping Haven get with Gage, them getting to know each other and their pasts. But soon things become quite complicated between the two when they try to figure out what they are to each other. Haven is suppose to only be in Pelion temporarily but is a special someone going to convince her to stay?

I was immediately sold when I heard that Travis was gonna have a redemption story. I know he wasn't the best in Archer's Voice but I truly did see the potential that he will become a better person! I am truly grateful that Mia Sheridan wrote Travis's story so beautifully. Haven perfectly complements Travis! I also absolutely loved that Bree & Archer were mentioned quite a bit in the book! The ending of this book really got me. I can always count on Mia Sheridan to make me cry in the heartbreaking and beautiful way. Her writing gets me every time! Every single character she creates are people I wish I could be best friends with. Highly recommend this book.

I just have one question for Mia Sheridan, WILL THERE BE A GAGE BUCHANAN BOOK?? That's all I am asking for!!!

First fell like needs to be pointed out I have not read Archer's Voice. So I did not have the back story on the town, Travis the main character in this book, or Archer Travis' half brother. I still absolutely loved this book and now I will be reading Archer's Voice to get that story. Though must say not mad at getting Travis' redemption before I probably hate him in that book. Does it give some spoilers to the plot of that sure, but in a way I want to know that story also.
Okay time for this book "Travis" to shine. Absolutely love the Haven, the female lead, she was wonderful and just the woman Travis needed, but clearly did not want in the beginning. Enjoyed this book being a redemption story for both characters in different ways. Both Travis and Haven have their own healing they need to do. But, instead of their relationship being a toxic trauma bond, it's done in a beautiful and healing way that helps the characters emotionally mature and repair themselves. Also the book had wonderful setting and side characters to connect with as well.
This book just so lovely and beautiful and pulled on the heart strings. Really hope the series continues as looking forward to getting Easton's and Gage's stories.

3.5 stars!
Archer's Voice was one of my favorite reads last year, so when I was approved on NetGalley for this one I was SO excited.
I hated Travis in Archer's Voice, but ended up loving him by the end of this book. I'm glad I didn't re-read before this though, because it definitely would've put a damper on it for me.
The reason this isn't rated higher is their romance wasn't all believable. And there's something that happens as the main turning point in the book that proves to me that Travis hadn't changed at all, despite what you're led to believe. Now at the end that turns around but the unnecessary drama surrounding all of it was a little much.
Thank you to NetGalley, Mia Sheridan, and SourceBooks for this advanced e-copy in exchange for my honest review.

I didn't think Travis could be redeemed for me after what he did in Archer's Voice, but I was proven wrong. I liked how he acknowledged his wrongs and was actively working towards fixing himself. I also love the fictional small town trope, and this one was done well. I didn't feel too much towards Travis and Haven's relationship though as they were both trying to get over other people during it. Kinda hated that he wanted revenge on the person who his ex cheated on him with because that person has nothing to do with it. Not to compare, but I did like Archer and Bree's dynamic better, and I enjoyed that they made appearances in the book.

ARC REVIEW

TRAVIS
by Mia Sheridan

Publishing date: 4/4/2023
Review:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

We first met Travis, in Archers voice, which highlighted Bree and Archer's love story. This is Travis's story! (You will def want to read Archers Voice first)

Travis is the tough guy, police chief who is used to women throwing themselves at him.   He has a past where he has made mistakes, but people can change.

When the new guy in town, Easton crosses him, it's time for revenge. But things get a little complicated when Travis develops a friendship with Ethans Sister, Haven.

Haven and Easton have been traveling and moving from city to city for 2 years. They vow not to get attached to the places they stay, and Pelion is no different. The  friendship between Haven and Travis gets a big more complicated when it turns into a " friends with benefits situation." BUT they promise to keep it Simple! No strings attached! Especially because Haven has a big crush on Gage Buchanon. Travis even played wingman and helped her score a date!

But what if Travis develops his own crush...but on Haven?

My review!
This is a re-release. I think it was originally published in 2021? This version has a new cover. I'm honestly not sure if any of the story changed?

I liked it! I didn't love it as much as Archers voice, but it was enjoyable for sure. I liked getting to know Travis more, and why he is the way he is.

I REALLY love a small town romance. And man, Pelion Lake sounds so amazing. This book gives us a fun cast of characters and made me wonder if there were going to be any other books about their stories.

Big Big thanks to @netgalley and @read_bloom for the chance to revist Pelion Lake! Loved it! 4 stars!

This is the redemption we ALL wanted for Travis!

The Gist:
Travis picks up right where the epilogue of Archer's Voice leaves us. Travis is making amends with Archer & Bree, but he also has a long time girlfriend. Things seem to be going well for him until Easton and Haven Torres roll in to town...

Travis finds himself faced with difficult decisions and facing his past.

Things I loved:
💙 Small, Lake Town
💙 Law Enforcement
💙 The way Travis treats Haven

My Reflection:
If I'm being honest, I wasn't sure I could read a book about Travis Hale after Archer's Voice. I was genuinely concerned that I would throw my kindle out the window before I could even give him a chance! HA!

Mia Sheridan, mission accomplished. I began to feel for Travis the first time he called himself second best. It was then that we really saw HIS side of the story for the first time. And now, well, I just want to hug that hunky man in uniform. Travis Hale, you ARE loved!

Read if you like:
-Dual POV
-Guy Falls First
-friends to lovers

I just have one question. Who's next? Gage? Or Easton?

If you haven’t read Archer’s Voice yet, I highly recommend it, especially before reading this one. This is the redemption story of Travis, who appeared in that book. I won’t say much about his backstory to avoid spoilers.

Police chief Travis has turned his life around and is trying to get over the past. He pulls over Haven for reckless driving and they develop a friendship that grows into something more. I liked Haven a lot. She had a troubled past, yet was full of humor and life. I wish the couple would have had less miscommunication but overall it was a good story!

Travis told the story I didn't know I needed, but I did.
If you haven't read Archer's Voice, I highly recommend reading that first, though you don't have to.
Travis is a man with a troubled past who isn't really sure who he is. He is flawed and has made some horrible mistakes and hurt people dearly. One day, he comes home to find his girlfriend in bed with another man. Instead of proposing like he thought he would, things are definitely over between them. Then his house floods and he has to stay at an inn. At this inn is the eccentric woman he pulled over who talks to plants, Haven, and her brother Easton. Easton is none other than the man who was with his girlfriend when he came home.
Haven has her own demons to battle and truths to discover. As they spend time together, the pull between them is undeniable.
Through this story of growth, love, and family, Travis and Haven learn who they are and what really matters. He learns what it means to lose it all or lose it all. I highly recommend this book!

I really wanted to like travis, but I just couldn’t get into the story and it was really slow for me.

I enjoyed this read. It’s one of redemption as we follow our main character Travis. We have glimpses of Archer and Bree throughout. There are quite a few heart to heart moments. There is humor, love, and being the best version of oneself within this read. It got a little heavy on the cringe and predictable towards the end. Overall, I liked it. It was interesting to see Travis’ perspective and experiences, especially when he reflected on his past.

Thank you NetGalley for the ebook.
