Thank you NetGalley for the ARC of Travis! I really enjoyed reading Travis’s story. The book was a bit predictable but also interesting. I liked watching Travis grow and learn from his mistakes. Haven his love interest also did a lot of growing and learning from her past. This story was all about growth and moving on and making the best out of some crappy situations.

Well, somehow Mia Sheridan pulled off a redemption story for Travis! If you've read ARCHER'S VOICE (if you haven't, you should totally read it before reading TRAVIS), then you already HATE Travis. He was awful and one of the worse kinds of contemporary villains in a romance novel. Luckily, its been a few years since Archer's story and Travis has had some time to grow up and mature a lot. He and Archer have even healed a lot of their broken relationship.

Travis: cocky cop, always has to be the best at everything. Then he the meets out-of-towner, plant loving, Haven. They are totally opposites. Travis is on the rebound and Haven isn't looking for anything permanent. You can probably imagine how this will go...

Even so, TRAVIS is a very well told redemption story, and I was happy to see Travis get a happily ever after.

Will Gage get is own story next?

* I received an e-copy of this book from NetGalley. Thank you NetGalley and Bloom Books for the gifted copy. All thoughts are my own.

I really did love this book. I read Archer’s Voice a couple years ago, back when I first discovered BookTok, and really loved it. I chose to not refresh myself on it though because I wanted to give this book a chance as a stand-alone and I’m glad I did. This whole book is about Travis’ sweet side and how he’s not a perfect person, but most people aren’t. Haven has a rough background and doesn’t plan to stay more than 4 months in any place. We do get some glimpses of Archer and Bree and their family. But most of those bits are to give us some insights on Travis and how close he is with his family now. I just wish we got more of them actually together. Overall, Travis and Haven seem so good together and I really enjoyed this story.

Definitely recommend!

This whole book was so poetic. The writing was beautiful. All the stories of the side characters were beautiful too… I was tearing up at the moment Travis had with Burt down by the lake🥺 literally the sweetest and most moving conversation ever.

This story was all about growth and moving on and making the best out of some crappy situations.

If you read Archer’s Voice you know that Travis was literally the worst character, nobody liked him at all, for good reason too. But starting this story which takes places 7 or 8 years after Archer’s Voice, we have a Travis who has been forgiven by Archer and is still trying to find his way. His redemption was truly just done so beautifully, and I don’t always love redemption arcs stories but his had me feeling all the feels❤️

Haven comes in a spunky plant loving girl. She is so fun from the start, but of course those who appear the most fun and bubbly on the outside are usually fighting demons. Her story also had growth but it was a different type of growth. She needed growth to quit running from the hurt and stay and let people in.

Haven And Travis had the most unlikely friendship, turned couple. But those are the best stories😉 I really enjoyed this book, it was a lot slower paced than what I’m used to but after I got into it there was no turning back😊

Thank you Mia Sheridan, Bloom Books and Sourcebooks for the opportunity to read and give an honest review of Travis❤️

Archer's Voice is one of my favorite books and as much as Travis gave me pause, I was excited that he was getting his own book! There's nothing like a great redemption story! While I did think Travis redeemed himself in this book, the overall story feel a bit flat for me. However, I did feel for Travis because of his manipulative mother and his deep-seated daddy issues. I love flawed characters because they're usually more realistic and relatable. Unfortunately, I wasn't a big fan of Haven. I love Mia Sheridan's writing so much but this book wasn't her best in my opinion. No get me wrong, I'm still going to buy the book, lol.

Thank you, NetGalley and Bloom Books, for the eARC in exchange for my honest review!

I’m slowly discovering Mia Sheridan through her new releases and her backlog being re-released and I’m easily becoming a fan! Travis is an emotional story built up from the hurt our parents can cause and the cascading effect it can have on our lives, even after their death. Travis has father issues with the fact that on the day he died, Travis thought his dad was leaving him to go with his other family and the hate towards his brother as a result. Haven is escaping her drug addict mother’s memory by doing a never ending road trip across the county.

Travis and Haven agreed on a friends with benefits relationship to avoid commitments and feelings, but we all know those don’t work ever. Just as things get good, previous acts and feelings make it impossible for both Haven and Travis to fully commit. The last half of this book had me crying from the emotions in so many ways, I loved this story!

I felt that this book's overall theme was about forgiveness. You can't compare this book to Archer because that would just be unfair nothing could compare to Archer's voice that book was special. This book is about the anti-hero finding his way. Travis also feeling worthless and unlovable but instead of retreating like Archer did he acted out. He falls for a girl passing through town and realizes he had to lose it all to have it all.

I really enjoyed how the town of Pelion plays such an intricate part of the whole story and all of the side characters we get to know so much about them that they become such important characters of the story as well. I also like how much we see of Bree and Archer in this book as well.

Thanks to NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review as always all words are my own.

I love a redemption arc when it's done well. And this was done fantastically! I had my concerns because of my deep dislike for Travis, and to go and read a book literally named after him was something I was more excited about for the hope that I was going to here about previous characters. But this stood well on its own, and it was great to see Travis grow as a character that people can enjoy and love. Plus, our fmc, Haven, was a great addition to this world. I loved the sunshine energy she gave off, and her own story to growth and happiness. I hope to venture back to Pelion more!

I loved reading Travis’s redemption story and it was so heartwarming. Haven and Travis were the perfect opposites attract. Definitely recommend reading Archers Voice first but I’m super excited to see what else we will experience from Pelion. I will always love me a small town romance.

I loved Archer's Voice so much probably the best book I've read in 2022. I'm so glad I got an ARC of Travis because it's his storyline this time. This was such a good read and everything about Travis and Haven was to die for. I love a good friends to lover book and I love that it involves plant. I'm glad Travis got to tell his story and we got to know him a bit more from the perspective we got of him in Archer's Voice very different. A must read!

Travis by Mia Sheridan

Rerelease 4/4

-cop
- friends with benefits
-part of series with Archer’s Voice

Chief of police Travis Hale has been an ass his whole life. While he’s started to change his ways, is it enough to allow himself to be happy? Haven is living the nomad life, saving plants across the country. They both find themselves as unlikely friends…with benefits.

I greatly disliked Travis when I read Archer’s Voice and was hesitant to read his story but I’m so glad I did! This was such a great redemption arc. I adored the reformed Travis. Haven also stole my heart. She was so quirky and unapologetic about it. These two together just made me happy. This is a must read!!!

I really enjoyed this. I wasn't sure about it since he's not a great character in Archer but I loved him in this. The eight year time jump definitely helped. I loved how he saw her and just immediately wanted to be friends with her. They just couldn't help being drawn to her. They really brought out the best in each other.

3.5 stars

After meeting him in Archer's Voice, I wasn't sure I wanted or needed a story for Travis. He had a lot to overcome in my eyes and I think for the most part Mia Sheridan succeeded in redeeming him. He worked hard to move on from his past and the consequences of his actions and my heart certainly hurt for all the pain he experienced. I didn't love his grand gesture at the end (it made me cringe) and I found it more entertaining that it caused a domino effect with the residents of Pelion. Both Travis and Haven had a lot of baggage to deal with and though I enjoyed them together, I didn't love them. The push and pull was a lot and I didn't like the repeated miscommunication. The highlight of the book was seeing Archer and Bree again. I loved their little family and how they were thriving. The found family at The Yellow Trellis Inn was also so sweet. Overall, this was an entertaining read, but sadly I didn't love it.

CW: death of parent, grief, parental estrangement, drug use & addiction (secondary character), housing and financial insecurity, fire, cheating ex

3.5 ⭐️ I really enjoyed this. It reminded me a lot of Things We Hide From The Light. Travis was super likable in this book which I was worried about because I really didn’t like him in Archer’s Voice.

This was a solid book. Archer’s Voice was one of my favorite reads last year so it would be super hard to top that but I definitely think it’s worth the read!

Travis by Mia Sheridan is a heartwarming contemporary romance that explores the power of second chances and the unexpected ways that life can change course. Set in the idyllic town of Pelion, Maine, this novel follows Travis Hale, the town's police chief, and Haven Torres, a woman who is looking to escape her troubled past.

Travis has made some mistakes in his past, but he has worked hard to move on and become the respected police chief of Pelion. However, his life is turned upside down when a new guy in town crosses him, and he meets the man's sister, Haven. Haven's life has been completely uprooted after her home burned down, and she embarks on a cross-country adventure with her brother, hoping to start fresh.

As Haven and Travis spend more time together, they develop an unlikely friendship that quickly turns into something more. But both of them have their own reservations about their future. Haven is determined to leave Pelion and start anew, and Travis has vowed never to settle for second best. As they navigate their feelings for each other and the challenges that come with them, they begin to realize that sometimes, the unexpected can lead to the greatest rewards.

Mia Sheridan's writing is beautifully descriptive, bringing the small town of Pelion to life with its charming residents and picturesque scenery. The characters are complex and well-developed, with their flaws and strengths portrayed realistically. The chemistry between Haven and Travis is electric, and their relationship unfolds in a way that feels both natural and satisfying.

Overall, Travis is a delightful romance novel that will appeal to fans of the genre. With its charming setting, well-drawn characters, and heartfelt message, it is a book that will leave readers feeling warm and fuzzy inside.

Thank you NetGalley for this ARC! (literally my dream ARC)

4.5 stars

Archer's Voice just holds a special place in my heart so I knew this book had big shoes to fill going in. Especially with Travis as the main character. But man his redemption arc was perfection!

The book begins a few years after Archer's Voice. Travis works as chief of police, has a girlfriend, and seems to have mended bridges with his Archer, Bree, and their children. Despite his mother's lies coming to surface in the previous book, Travis seems to have it all together. But he still feels the residual effects and trauma that haunted his childhood. Haven and her brother move to Pelion Lake and completely throw a wrench in Travis's life.

Haven Torres is just lovely and a perfect match for Travis. She is headstrong, caring, and one of a kind. I appreciated how their initial disdain turned to friendship before Travis realized he'd lost his heart to this girl. These two characters could not have been more different on the surface and it made their eventual love story even more satisfying. Deep down they'd both been hurt by people who were supposed to love them and they were scared to be all in. Even though Haven's decisions frustrated me at times, I appreciated the push it gave Travis. He showed how much he had grown by being the one to put his heart on the line and risk losing Haven if it meant she was happy. I almost doubted him at one point when his mother presented some legal options to take Pelion Lake back from Archer, but he proved once again he had changed for the better. I don't know how she did it, but Mia has made me love a character I once hated!

And bless you Mia for the bread crumbs of Archer and Bree. I still need more please and thank you.

Was it bad? No. Did I enjoy it? Not really.

Honestly I’m so surprised because I love the Mia Sheridan I’ve read up until this. This is Travis’s redemption story (post-Archer’s Voice) and we learn so much about his origins and damage, which is great but honestly, he’s just a dick. Throw the cop thing in there and it’s a “no… thanks” for me.

I found it overall hard to connect with any of the characters, as a matter of fact. Not my favorite but I will always read Mia Sheridan because so many of her books have been 5 stars for me. I think I just lacked care about the character Travis and that drove me to not care much for this story.

I’m honestly so impressed by this redemption story. If you’ve read Archer’s Voice (which you should before reading this one), you would have met Travis who was a serious dirtbag. We get some background on Travis and Archer growing up, and we are made to despise him in that book.

In this book? I’m not going to lie, he totally won me over. I am always so impressed when authors are able to make you hate and then love a character (or the reverse) and man did I swoon over Travis 😍

I also felt like I could relate to Travis in many ways. It’s not his fault his mother was so manipulative and toxic. He was a product of his surroundings and feeling like he was abandoned and thrown away for Archer, the son his father really wanted, of course made him act out and rebel.

In this story we have him acknowledging his past, actively changing to become a better person, confronting his misdeeds, seeking forgiveness, and trying to become a better man for a woman who’s just temporarily visiting Pelion and running away from her own trauma.

My only complaint is that, again, Mia Sheridan had to make the female main character so damn traumatized. Is that the only way these men can grow? If they have have to help another woman heal?

Overall, I loved the growth and character development of Travis, and I loved rooting for him. This book made me laugh, made me swoon, and was pretty hot 🥵

Read this if you love:
- second chance/redemption stories
- friends with benefits trope
- when the main characters are in denial
- opposites attract
- family drama/making amends
- sweet summer romances
- found family
- men who love cats

This was a great sequel to Archer’s Voice, and if you loved that one then this is a must read! If you can’t fathom forgiving Travis, then just read this for the sweet Bree & Archer & their kids cameos 🥰

Thank you NetGalley, Mia Sheridan, and Sourcebooks - Bloom Books, for this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion 🫶🏻

DO YOU LOVE:
Opposites Attract ✅
Forced Proximity ✅
Small Town. ✅
Dual POV ✅

Going back to Pelion in this sequel was like going back home to old friends. We get a glimpse into the lives of Archer and Bree.
Travis is haunted by his past, feeling unwanted and second best. Unable to runaway from it living in a small town where everyone knows you and seeing the ones you love is just a reminder of how you fall short and weren’t enough.

Haven is dealing with her own troubled past and is just in Pelion for the summer along with her brother. Running away is second nature when things fall apart and your worst fears come rushing in.

They couldn’t be more opposite but yet a friendship blooms. But of course we have to throw in a love interest Gage Buchanan, a nosy town, a troublesome brother, The Inn Crew, a lot of plants and a cat. Mia Sheridan delivered with Travis’ character as we watch him grow and learn that sometimes falling in love means loosing it all.

I was absolutely drawn in to the story from chapter 1. Travis is a charmer and swoon worthy. I loved the dual point of view which allows the reader to experience both sides of the same love story.
