The perfect follow up, and stand-alone, to Archer’s Voice. Travis is such a good redemption story for a character that was not so likable in the previous book. Understandably, discovering everything you thought about your life is inaccurate knocks your whole world off kilter. But undeniably what brings everything back together is learning to loosen the reigns and open yourself to the possibility that you do deserve love and to be happy. I love the opposites attract, small town, he falls first aspects of this story and I just love how both of these characters work to overcome the tragedies in their lives to become better people and find their way to each other.

I had previously read Archer’s Voice, so I had a different opinion of Travis before I started his book. He was definitely painted in a more negative light in Archer’s Voice so it was nice to see a redemption book for him. In AV, you see the side of Travis that is manipulative, mean and full of regrets/guilt over the way he treated Archer.

Travis’ character development in his book was really nice to see and he seemed to do some soul searching to see what he wanted for his future and how he was going to get it. He was tired of being manipulative towards others to get what he wanted and I loved seeing his progress in thinking of others over himself. He seemed to also accept that Archer and Bree had truly forgiven him and he was able to let go of his regrets.

He does find love in an unexpected nomad girl who is traveling through Pelion, and he chooses to lay his heart on the line but leave it up to her to see if she’ll stay. He finally lets himself dream of his future and what HE wants and not just what everyone expects of him because he’s a ‘Hale boy.’ I liked seeing this side of him and made it an easy enjoyable read.

After letting Archer’s Voice linger on my TBR for years, I quickly devoured that book and immediately picked up Travis, eager to see how Pelion’s bad boy would be redeemed.

Travis takes place eight years after the events at the end of Archer’s Voice. Travis Hale, small town police chief and serial ladies man, literally walks in on his girlfriend cheating on him with the new guy in town. Shortly after, Travis finds out his house has flooded making him a temporarily resident at a local B&B with the aforementioned new guy and his sister, Haven Torres. Travis recognizes Haven from a traffic stop earlier in the week and finds himself drawn to her despite Haven not being his typical type. They strike up a friendship and Travis helps Haven land a date with local legend Gage Buchanan. Their friends with benefits arrangement quickly goes south when they catch feelings, but Haven’s just passing through and Travis has never settled down.

Travis was such a villain in Archer’s Voice so it was really nice seeing him grow up and get his HEA in this book. I loved seeing him interact with the town and spend time with Archer and family. Travis was really the star of this book for me. I thought Haven treated him pretty badly for most of the book - I really wish we heard more from her POV about her past and history. <spoiler> I thought the grand gesture Travis does was honestly a bit icky and inappropriate, airing all his sins like that to the town. It felt a bit contrived and I was never convinced that Haven really did see him not as second best. </spoiler>

I would definitely read more from this new to me author!

I was so excited to read this book because I was so intrigued with Travis’s character from Archer’s voice. While he made some awful choices out of jealousy and hurt, I wanted to see what went into the thoughts behind them. You get to know Travis and why he is the way he is.

I loved when he took accountability for his actions to win back Haven. There seemed to be a disconnect though with his demeanor in archers voice compared to his own book. I found that hard to reconcile and I really didn’t understand or wasn’t fully convinced of the reason Haven and Easton had been on the move for two years. It just wasn’t fully compelling. I think that storyline could have been fleshed out a bit more. And for that reason I gave this book 3.5 stars.

This book is a sweet romance. You’ll enjoy it if you love small town romance, law enforcement, secrets, and strangers to friends to lovers.

If you loved Archer’s Voice then you won’t be disappointed with Travis and you’ll find yourself cheering for the formally bad guy. Heaven is a likable character with a troubled past and helps Travis heal in more ways that he can imagine. Loved that we get a glimpse of archer and Bree.

Mia Sheridan’s writing is easy to follow and will have you finishing the book in no time and have you wanting more.

3.5⭐️ rounded up to 4!

Thank you to NetGalley, Bloom Books, and Mia Sheridan for this ARC in exchange for an honest review!

If you know me, you know I love Archer’s Voice with my entire soul. That book changed my life, and I couldn’t wait to read Travis’ story next. Travis road to redemption was perfectly handled here. He experienced such character growth throughout the end of Archer’s Voice/Archer’s Voice extended epilogue, and that growth only continued here in his own book. I loved the snippets of his and Archer’s relationship and seeing how far they had come. I also loved reading about his role as an Uncle to Archer & Bree’s kids. The storyline of Travis’ feelings towards both his mother and his father (and certain revelations that help solidify his relationships to both) was executed perfectly. I enjoyed Haven, but I felt like we didn’t get enough time with her/enough character development for me to feel super attached to her. I also really wish we had had more time with their relationship for it to fully blossom on page. I liked all the individual elements of their actual romance storyline, it just didn’t fit cohesively together for me (I really just needed more from it!). I also felt like Travis taking the blame for the flyers was a little ridiculous, because although he had asked for the information to be found about Easton, he 1) hadn’t instructed for that to be put in the flyer and 2) had explicitly stated that the community force was to be used to be helpful, not as a way to call people out. The ending wrapped this up better though (even if Travis’ gesture was a little over the top for my tastes). And the epilogue was absolutely wonderful and a perfect way to close the story. Overall, I really enjoyed this story and I was so happy to be back in Pelion!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/ 5

Ooooooooookay. If I ever need a redemption story for my life, I will be RUNNING to Mia Sheridan. If you’ve read Archers Voice, you probably didn’t like Travis. This was redemption at its best! (This book can be read as a standalone, but you really should read Archer’s Voice, if you haven’t already)

Travis is chief of police in Pelion Lake. After past mistakes, he is getting his life together and has dreams. He meets quirky Haven, when she and her brother come to Pelion Bay for the summer, with no plans of staying there any longer than that. The two of them soon form an unlikely friendship, and she helps him want to be a better man and he helps her with her brother.

I loved his relationship with Archer, Bree, and his nephews. It was so special, and I loved the way they welcomed him really helped Travis forgive himself.

This book was heartbreakingly beautiful, and filled with forgiveness, sacrifice, heartbreak, and happiness. It was such an overall amazing read! I couldn’t and wouldn’t put it down! I will be reading this again for years to come.

What a beautiful love story!
My heart belongs to Pelion Lake and the Hale boys 💙

I loved this book (maybe even more than Archer's Voice, not going to lie)! I absolutely loved Haven, and surprisingly, I liked Travis in this one. I didn't think he'd be too redeemable, but he was pretty decent. The setting was great (love a small-town romance!), and the plot was fast-paced and fun; this was overall a cute, quick read! The author managed the heavier topics well, and I really enjoyed this book.

Jeez. I wanted to be swept away with Travis's story just like I was with Sheridan's book Archer's Voice. Sadly, I didn't have the same swooning reaction and I found the book not that interesting. It was still a fun read but only a three star review from me. My bestie read at the same time and she had similar thoughts.

Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC for the purpose of this review. I'm not giving up on Sheridan!

Wasn't too sure what to expect when I started this book. But wow the book really got me into the story as I can always relate to being the "second best". Travis really redeemed himself in this book and got me liking him more. I was worried at one point that he would choose the wrong path and thankfully all was well in the end. I guess it's really lose it all or lose it all. I really liked how the author included the relationship between Travis and the children of Archer and Bree in this book as well.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book and finished it in a day. Would totally recommend this book to everyone that enjoyed reading Archer's Voice.

I hadn't pegged MS as the kind of author who would write a spin-off book/series, so I am pleasantly surprised! If you've read the masterpiece that is ‘Archer's Voice,’ you're already familiar with Travis. And if you haven't read it, here's me telling you to pick it up!

And while I didn't fall head over heels in love with this like I did ‘Archer's Voice,’ I still adore how it gives Travis the redemption he deserves. It was soooo lovely to see him interact with Archer, Bree, and the kids. Seeing how they welcome him into the family and how that helps Travis forgive himself was a really sweet. He has some great character development and his soft side is totally swoon-worthy.

Overall, a really satisfying addition to the world of Pelion Lake. Can't wait to see who MS writes about next!

I just realised that once read this book when it came out 2 years ago and loved it so much.

I adored this book! I loved everything about it. Travis played a big part in Archer’s Voice and I honestly hated him there but I knew that Mia wouldn’t disappoint and redeemed him in the best possible way. And oh boy, did he had to go through fire and hell. I must admit that I was scared to start reading it because, I didn’t knew where it will take me for one and then I didn’t wang to go through all the messy stuff he put Archer in once again. But I’m telling you that if you loved Archer as much as I do, you will love Travis as well. Some of the chapters made me literally cry and I loved every second of it.

Somehow Mia Sheridan has managed to redeem Travis and I now love him.

This book takes us to a deep emotional journey, gifting us a peek of what Travis’ life was with traumatic pasts and awful family.

I loved this so much!
