This fun, romantic take on the time-shift trope would be a fun vacation read. Lighthearted with a satisfying ending.

I ADORED this book! It felt so real, and genuine. It was funny, and heartfelt, and swoony, and made my heart ache. I will absolutely be on the lookout for more from this author!!

Really lovely! Exactly the type of sweet and realistic romance I was looking for!
Timothy Janovsky has solidified as an auto-read author for me, for sure.

New Adult follows Nolan, an aspiring comedian who ends up in a 13 Going on 30 situation. He falls asleep at 23, after ditching his sisters wedding and long-time crush Drew to deal with the fall out, and wakes up in his 30 year old body, seven years into the future.

I loved watching Nolan's growth as a person and I felt that the progression was pretty natural. All thanks to some magic, time traveling crystals! New Adult was a fun, friends-to-lovers romance, but it also focused on Nolan's relationships with his family and friends and discovering what is most important in our lives.

Oh I am KICKING MYSELF for waiting so long on this one. I had an arc and missed the pub date, so I just kept putting it off. WRONG CHOICE. It was perfect. This was the most charming friends to lovers love story with a little time travel magic thrown in for a good time. The romance was so adorable and if you’re a friends to lovers person, you’ll love this one. The family relationships were so so well done. The steam was well done, truly. I loved it. Favorite Janovsky, by far!

This is a fun twist on thirteen going on thirty (or in this case: twenty-three going on thirty) and not only is it a love story to melt for, a comedic joy to laugh out loud to, but the whole package will fit itself firmly into your heart from page one.

Timothy has a way of starting out with a bang. I will always fall in love with his protagonists on the first page and I can't seem to wipe a smile off my face whenever I read his words. The worlds he builds, the metaphors he uses, the humor, the romance, the love? It keeps enveloping me like a warm hug. You'll recognize Timothy's work immediately because it's unique and beautiful and I cannot even put into words how safe his stories make me feel.

If you're looking for a love story that will make you feel good? This is it. If you're after a story that will squeeze your heart in all kinds of ways, this is also it. If you're looking for a book boyfriend that makes you fall in love with him in the first couple of chapters like a freaking wrecking ball to the heart? Drew is it. (And he's demisexual, too! Be still my beating heart!)

All this is to say... I love New Adult with all my heart and I know you will too.

LOVE LOVE LOVE ❤️❤️❤️

Start to finish, this book had me hooked! I loved getting to know these characters, and being along the ride of a lifetime with them all! Nolan was a lot of fun! Getting to see his growth throughout was perfect, and the way he was with his family (especially Imogen) was heartwarming ❤️

This book was cute, sweet, realistic (even with the time travel), and everything I hoped it would be and more! I wasn't sure how I would like the jump in timeline, but it was done so well that I barely even noticed. And I didn't have to try to figure out where I was all the time. It was just PERFECT!

This was the first book I've read by Timothy, but it will not be the last. I didn't realize right away that this was book 3 so I will be going back to read books 1 & 2!

Do yourself a favour, and add this to your TBR if it isn't on there already ❤️

If you like Freaky Friday and 2000s pop culture references this is the book for you. What if you woke up 7 years in the future with everything you wanted but realize your life is hollow and your relationships have withered? How would you find your way back? This book was very interesting and I was cheering for Nolan Baker to find his way.

Loved this twist on the amnesia story! It was so interesting to see how the story plays out in the different timelines. Highly recommend!

There was a surprising amount of sweetness in this considering what a jackhole Nolan was in the beginning. Also, I love that Drew loves romances novels and I'm always here for friends-to-lovers.

Though I’ve yet to read Never Been Kissed, I really enjoyed Timothy’s wintry romance You’re a Mean One, Matthew Prince last year and was so looking forward to diving into the next Boy Meets Boy instalment! This was compared to 13 Going on 30 - a film that was somehow a sleepover staple for me before I was even close to either age? - but here we see 23 year old Nolan feeling as though he’s in an in-between stage. Not quite grown up and adulting properly yet but trying nonetheless to make his way in the bustle of NYC. He envisages a future of comedy superstardom for himself but, while the decisions he makes may bring him closer to that goal, the hurt he causes along the way just drives him further apart from those he loves.

I really appreciate how Janovsky writes these journeys of growth for his characters. They can be unlikable and make mistakes and hurt and be hurt and I have faith they’ll come right in the end. While you can say that Nolan may not always be the easiest to support, I think anyone who’s read this can agree that Drew is one of the most lovable love interests in history. This sweet, supportive man and his romance novels need to be protected at all costs. I absolutely ate up the best friends/and they were roommates! to secret crush to time-jump-to-you-hating-me to lovers storyline here.

I already found the anxiety rep in Matthew Prince great, so I really appreciate that this book also includes characters dealing with things like depression, ADHD, and chronic pain.

This is a genuinely funny read with a romance I loved and a time travel twist.

Thank you to NetGalley, Timothy Janovsky and Sourcebooks for the free ebook in exchange for an honest review.

This is my first novel from this author, but it will definitely not be the last. This was such a well thought out and beautiful novel. Who doesn’t love a time traveling type romance. So perfect. The characters, the stories and that ending.

A very witty, very modern-feeling romp. It screamed summertime. Drew is so dreamy and has so much heart. He was a great contrast to Nolan, who I loved in a different but no less fierce way. Can't wait to read what Timothy puts out next!

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC. I’ve been feeling very guilty that it is taking me so long to get through books. Life has gotten very busy - my apologies to the publisher.

I am enjoying the wave of books that have come out using the “13 going on 30” concept. I was really excited to read this take on it, but unfortunately it fell flat for me. The main reason: the lead was pretty unbearable, and even with his learning and growth watching his future life unfold, he was still unbearable. I couldn’t understand why the love interest liked him, and in all timelines he was incredibly self centred.

What I did like:
- the concept of the quirky company that caused all the magic
- the romance novel references throughout
- cleverly crafted spicy scenes that were both graphic and not vulgar at the same time

In short: a good attempt on the “waking to older” concept, but the lead character is a douche and hard to get past.

4 stars

I was rather surprised by this book (positive). It's about a comedian which I have absolutely no interest in because improv is my actual nightmare and it involves magic crystal which I do have an interest in as a part time spooky person but what it's really about is one of my FAVORITE tropes which is waking up in the future with absolutely no idea how you got there. (magic, amnesia, time travel??? all three??? read and find out!) I very much liked that the comedian character Nolan turns out to be a total bag of butts in the future and built his fortune on the back of horrible raunchy jokes which thank goodness this book has very little of the actual tight tens in it because no one needs to read those. It focused more on Nolan trying to redeem his alternative future self's buttwad lifestyle and reconnect with his BFF (and love), his family, and his comedic roots. And of course finding the magic crystals to go back in time and prevent it from ever happening. Which, a luxury wellness brand being the source of magical objects is an incredible premise. I wish my scented candles and essential oil collection let me automate my roku or read thoughts! Instead I have to use the remote and ask people like a normal person.

Anyway, this was very enjoyable and fun read despite the ridiculous premise and a comedian main character.

4.75/5 stars! I love queer romance stories and 90s romcom movies, so I was sooooo excited to read this book. There were so many emotions in this story and I just couldn't get out of my feels of Nolan and Drew. I want to crawl into this book and give them both a hug. Ughhh! Just such a good story.

I received an advance review copy for free through NetGalley, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

So good. Something that always impresses me about Janovsky’s work is how much genuine growth his characters go through; every beat of the story has a purpose. Even though Janovsky had warned me this one has more serious themes, I was still sucker-punched in the feels by the end. Beautifully done.

📖My Thoughts📖

Omg this book! It’s like the movie 13 Going on 30 with a dash of Big. I’m not even sure where to start! I adored everything about this book! I absolutely LOVED the characters, especially the two main characters. They were seriously meant for each other. It was the sweetest thing! There was a strong chemistry between Nolan and Drew right off the bat. Their relationship alone would have made a cute story, but adding a magical element, the progress growth and development of the characters, the challenges between them as well as the ones they faced alone and you have the makings of one helluva great rom-com! In all honesty, this book was exactly what I needed right now. It was so sweet and heartwarming, hitting me in all the feels. I really enjoyed reading this one and I think the ending was absolutely perfect!
Thank you Netgalley, Timothy Janovsky and Sourcebooks Casablanca for the opportunity to read and review this delightful book. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
