When Kailey who is 8 years old goes missing after school, investigator Lucy steps in. But Lucy has experienced loss in her own life and this becomes more than a job to her.
I was on the edge of my seat when reading this. It was tense, twisty and I was questioning everyone. It's the kind of book you just want to keep reading so you can find out what happens.
This was a great intro to thrillers for me! I am looking forward to reading more about Lucy Kendall!
This is my first book from this author and the first book in the series. I was lucky to also receive the EARC of the book as well. I enjoyed the narrator of the audiobook and recommend this to all audiobook lovers.
A really great book to listen to
Had me hooked from the start
The narrator was really good
Would listen to more by this author
Thanks NetGalley
This was a pretty good audio book . Would definitely listen to more from this author.
It did start out a little slow and the name threw me off a little bit while listening but all in all good book
An intriguing opening to this series by Stacy Green. An investigator that is looking for an abducted girl that seems to have connections to the disappearance of her sister many years ago.
In this book we are introduced to Private Investigator Lucy Kendall who is still dealing with issues from the disappearance of her sister. She is certainly an interesting character who is totally passionate about what she is doing for obvious reasons. However many may feel that she is crossing over the line in what she does and how she does it, but she does seem to get results.
At times I found I was struggling to progress with this book, some of it may be due to the themes it deals with child abduction, paedophilia, and child abuse, which I always find difficult to read about. If you can get past this, it does seem a good introduction to the series, with plenty of twists and turns to come.
Not my favourite read of the year but I will be looking to continue with the series at some point and happy to recommend if you enjoy this style of book.
I feel the narrator did a good job with the narration of this audiobook.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I at first found this difficult to get into and put it away. Then having nothing else on hand, I returned to it and actually loved it. It’s a gritty and difficult story with plenty of triggers for anyone who has suffered abuse. But the main characters are well written and generally likeable, despite their faults. I would definitely read another by the same author
This was a magnificent thriller and a great read dealing with very difficult issues. It is an atmospheric slow burning mystery with some surprising twists to keep you guessing. The writing was very good and kept me on my toes trying to guess the ending.
I really enjoyed this crime thriller, which is about a private investigator called Lucy, who starts investigating a case that the police are trying to solve, which is the abduction of 8 year old Kailey, a little girl who went missing while wearing her pink shoes.
I found the book to be fast paced, crazy and disturbing, with a lot of twists and turns, and shocking moments to absorb and reflect on. The audiobook narrator was fantastic.
Will Lucy be able to solve the case and bring Kailey home? What dark secrets is Lucy hiding about herself and her own life? You will have to read the book to find out! Highly recommended!
Many thanks to the author/narrator, publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book.
A good crime thriller that looks deep in to the justice system and humanity and really makes you think.
Although was slow at times i was kept engaged with the constant introduction of new characters and new suspects. Both the main character and the narrator were great which really made the story connect.

This is a story about a missing child, the decisions of her mother Jenna, and the actions of a private investigator named Lucy, who has a haunted past and believes in vigilante-style justice. Stacy Green handles sensitive topics such as child abduction and abuse with care, without being gratuitous. The story is well-paced and maintains suspense until the end. This will be a good read or listen for fans of this genre.
Thank you to the publishers, author and NetGalley for the free copy of this audio book.
I liked this one a lot. Dark, without being too graphic, lots of twists- some even unexpected! I liked the narrator as well. I will definitely be looking at reading the rest of this series!
This was a pretty dark theme for me as I am not a regular reader if such. If you have experienced child abuse in any way the the book may be a trigger for you.
The character were very well developed and very serious most of the time. The suspense had me guessing through-out and I was not able to figure it out until the end.
This was my first experience by this author and most likely will not be my last.
Thank you to NetGalley for this advanced copy. All opinions are my own.
The audiobook narrator sounded so bored reading this that it completely failed to engage me and I didn't get beyond the first 20 minutes. Sorry.
I liked how authentic this audiobook was to the geographic area of Pennsylvania and the way people talk there. As someone who has spent time in Lancaster county it was a great touch! I found the mystery well thought out and I wasn’t correct in my thinking of who done it. But I won’t spoil the story. I’m hoping to pick up the next one in this series.
Thank you Netgalley! I have enjoyed other books by Stacy Green so when I saw this series was being re-released I snapped it up. I love the authors writing style, it's fast paced and gritty. I was engrossed in this series and after finishing this book I picked up the rest of the series on audio. This book is the first in a 4 book series that follows Private Detective Lucy Kendall.... Lucy is going to get justice when all other's fail.
This book was previously released as All Good Deeds. Do yourself a good deed and read it!
I really liked the writing style of The Girl in the Pink Shoes. The twists and turns had me on the edge of my seat wanting to know who did it. Just when I thought I had something figured out, new information surfaced and my thoughts were wrong. Just the way I love a mystery!
I loved this book and can not wait to read the rest of the series.
This is the first book in the 'Lucy Kendall' private detective series. When the law and the justice system fail the innocent victims, Lucy is determined to "take out the trash" herself.. This book hooked me in from the beginning.. Page turner.
Thanks NetGalley for the audio eArc.
At first, I was unsure I was going to finish this book because I was not able to connect fully with the audiobook narration. I think I would have preferred this book in print. Still, once I kept listening, this was a thrilling and engaging read. The characters are haunting and, even though they are not typical "good" characters, you still find yourself rooting for them. Think: vigilante justice and overcoming trauma. I will likely continue reading this series in print!
It’s an excellent book. I like the idea of the story, and I couldn’t guess the ending kept me on the edge of my seat
I couldn’t really enjoy the book. The narrators accent was so annoying. I guess it was supposed to be that way because that’s where the book takes place. I don’t know I just didn’t like the narration. Book is good.
