Your Dream For Me is a fun and easy read. Scarlett at times feels more pre-teen then actual teen with some of her inner monologue and it can feel a bit tedious as it's not things teens would overly be concerned with. But overall it's an enjoyable read.
I feel like Scarlett's inner monolog was a little on the junvielle side. So much so that I had to stop reading it a few times. The writing was decent. I would've liked to read more about Nathaniel. I think it would've helped me understand more of Scarlett's thought process. Anyways, if you tend to like the younger side of YA, then you would probably like this book.
Thank you to Netgalley for this ARC in return for my honest review.
This was a sweet book. The main female character was Scarlet. She dreams of designing clothes after she’s done with school. She could come off younger than she was supposed to be. Nathaniel was her love interest, and I really enjoyed his character.
It was a quick read. I enjoyed the book.
Your Dream For Me was a really cute and sweet YA book but I had mixed thoughts about it! This is the story of our main character Scarlett, who aspires to be a fashion designer and how she navigates her crush on Nathaniel, who is a theatre kid. I really loved how Scarlett and Nathaniel met or their meet cute! I really loved the passion Scarlett had for fashion design. I didn't always agree with Scarlett's decisions and inner monologues but she definitely cares and looks out for her friends. I loved the romance between Scarlett and Nathaniel and I wished their was more of it in the book! Scarlett and Macie have such a strong and great friendship which I liked.
TW: There are some themes of sexual assault.
Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher, and Alison Schaffir for the ARC copy of this book.
Your Dream for Me is definitely young adult, almost very young adult. It is a very cute story and an easy read. The characters are not complex and the story is very easy to follow. I liked the characters and feel like this would be a good book for middle school readers.
I would recommend this book to young readers or someone looking for a quick and easy read.
Scarlett is a plucky heroine with a dream of being a fashion designer who falls for a cute boy in the theater group at school. The novel follows the development of their relationship and also the friendship she shares with her best friend, Macie.
The story took a while to draw me in. Particularly in the early chapters, Scarlett seemed to act and read younger than her years but she did grow and mature as the story progressed. I would have loved to see more exploration of her developing her sewing and design skills as that seemed initially to be a major plot point but didn’t end up amounting to much.
The school and party scenes were well written and felt realistic and true and the romance was sweet. I adored Scarlett’s love interest, Nathaniel, and really enjoyed the scenes they shared. In fact, it would have been great for him to have been given more page time as he was such a delight.
This story definitely transported me back to the hallways of high school. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the digital ARC in exchange for my honest review.
This was such a cute book. Honestly, I am very judgmental of the main female characters in romance books. Scarlett, although passive and awkward at times, was adorable in this, especially her relationship with her bestie! I also loved that the story started right from the get-go. Immediately, you're introduced to the love interest and they. begin the dance of seeing each other at school and parties. The reader is also there from the very beginning of her fashion designer journey as she gets a sewing machine.
This book is YA - so do not expect mature relationships. The characters definitely act as high schoolers and at times, act awkward, but again, its young adult!
Your Dream for Me tells the story of Scarlett, who dreams of going to FIT in New York for fashion design after being raised on the glamor of musical theater but not liking the spotlight. One morning while spending time in her school's costume shop, Scarlett meets a mysterious student who is charming and attractive.
This book tells the story of Scarlett going through the second half of her high school career as she chases and works towards her dreams of becoming a fashion designer while dealing with the social challenges of high school like friends, enemies, and dating. This delightful YA novel would be great for any reader who wants a shorter story with an uplifting plot.

3.5 stars
Your dream for me is about a teenage girl who wants to become a fashion designer. Within the first few pages, she meets a guy who immediately captures her interest. The rest of the book is about them following their dreams while getting to know each other.
This book is perfect for young teenagers who are starting to read romance. It is absolutely adorable and precious. I liked how each of the characters had their ambitions. This book isn’t just about love, but also about those years in which you start to find out who you are and what you want to do for the rest of your life. The moments Scarlett and Nathanial had together were all so sweet. Also, I loved the Oscar Wilde reference!
The reason why this book has 3.5 stars is because I did not enjoy Macie, the main character's best friend. The way she kept switching between hating and loving Scarlet was very confusing to me and it didn’t make much sense. I understand that those conflicts between the characters were essential to the plot, however, I would’ve expected a more valid reason for Macie's behavior towards Scarlett. Considering how much Scarlett did for her, a little appreciation was the least she deserved.
I also want to address the ending. Why? The break-up ruined the magic of the book in my opinion. If I were to edit this book I would cut out the last few chapters so Scarlett and Nathanial's relationship could live on in the readers’ imagination.
Overall, this book would be perfect for young teenagers who have just started reading romance novels. Despite this book having its flaws and not being anything significant or remarkable, the entirety of it was very endearing and is definitely able to make you giggle and blush.
I enjoyed this book. It allowed me to reminisce on my old high school crushes. I loved the theatre and fashion connections made throughout. I loved the internal monologue of the main character and her interactions with the rest of the characters. I liked the pacing in the beginning and at the end, but in the middle, it got kind of muddy for me.
Absolutely loved this book!
Alison Schaffir you are amazing!
I was hooked throughout and couldn't put this book down.
Thank you for accepting my ARC request.
Thank you to Netgalley and Publisher for granting my Access to this E-ARC. This book was so cute! I felt like the story and characters were more believable than some of the other stories I have read, which is nice. I loved to craft, so the cover had me cooked from the get go.
This was a cute read! I really liked the theme, the end was also what I was wanting. It was realistic, and the character development was good!
I very much enjoyed this book! I thought that the characters were fun. and that the plot was very original. Looking forward to reading more work by this author.

I don't even know where to start.
These characters read a lot younger than 16/17.
Honestly I had to keep checking myself that they wernt all 13.
While I understand this book will be perfect for some readers out there. To me it fell really flat and mildly annoying.
It was a completly predictable plot where the author has just seen one too many teenage RomCom movies and thought 'let's put all these ideas in one book' but didn't think about how to integrate them all in a cohesive way.
It felt very choppy.
Your Dream for Me by Allison Schaffir I a very cute and well written young adult story about young adult relationships and family issues. On merits alone it was definitely a book that I believe would appeal to the younger side of the YA reader group but in no way does that take away from the writing. The author did an amazing job of understanding the typical teenager who is dealing with parental issues as well as friendship dilemmas. Overall I feel the characters are well developed for the age group and this was a slow burn storyline. I loved Nathanial because he was so supportive although we really did not see him as much as I had hoped.
I would say this would appeal to an early high school student but in no way shape or form does that take away from the book. This is a solid 4 out of 5 stars.
Thank you to NetGalley as well as the author/publisher for giving me the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my unbiased and honest review.
I recently got into crafting and sewing so this book kind of hooked me with the cover. It was a really sweet read and I think that it would keep anyone with a smile on their face. Loved it!
I may not be part of the targeted audience for this young adult and teens book, but this genre usually delivers nice feel good reads to pass the time. So I like to indulge every now and then.
Unfortunately, this one didn't do it for me. It was definitely more on the young side than the adult side. It might appeal more to high schoolers. I wasn't rooting for any of the characters and the stakes weren't high enough to hold my interest.
Thank you for the ARC, Alison.
I'm honestly sorry to only give a 3 star review.
I didn't finish the book, I had to stop at about 40% in because the style was too young for me and there were also some triggers for me personally - Macie getting sexually assaulted and then immediately focusing on her best friend's feelings, genuinely, which, to me, minimizes the importance of her experience.
Contrary to some of the other reviews I've read, I thought the MC was believable, immature, sure, but well defined. What I couldn't get over was the dialogue. It was at times inconsistent with the situation, either it had no purpose, or it was just plain exposition, and often characters just voiced their thoughts out loud, in the most blunt ways. It's not how people talk, not even inexperienced teenagers.
With some more editing, you might be on to something here. You finished the first part of the road. I'm excited to read more from you in the future.
(I won't post this review to GR)
Thank you, Netgalley & Level Best Books, for the arc!!!
I want to start by saying I could not get into this book as I could not resonate with any of the main characters. A lot of it was wither too fast for me or it felt like I was reliving high school, which I did not enjoy at all.
