I only read Rescue: Hero Style by Rebecca Zanetti
3.5 stars
This collection of three romantic suspense stories is cleverly put together, telling the story of a violent gang on a crime spree. Each author writing in this collection has written a story of these criminals entering a new town, and encountering their characters in three intertwined romantic suspense stories. I’m a die-hard Zanetti fan, so I dove right into the middle part of the book and read Rescue: Hero Style, which is the second novella in the Redemption Wyoming series, and which actually works well as a standalone. But I will go back and read the rest of the book at some point to see where it began and how it ends.
Caden and Ella were in love and engaged to be married when Caden suddenly up broke up with Ella and left town. Six weeks later and Ella is still broken-hearted and trying to figure out how she’s meant to move on when Caden arrives back in town, determined to get his girl back.
I love a second-chance-romance, and this is a great set-up. Having had such a brief separation, the feelings are all still so strong, but Ella is still nursing her well-deserved anger and refusing to give Caden the time of day. He had a good reason for leaving, and he knows he did wrong, he owns his behaviour and apologises, and is determined to make amends. But he’s also a massive alpha and refuses to take no for an answer.
“Listen. As much as I like your caveman routine, I’m not in the mood for it right now.”
“Well, darlin’,” he drawled. “That’s unfortunate, because that’s what you’re going to get.”
At the same time, Caden is an ex-military man and now the Sheriff of Redemption, and he’s sucked straight into the mystery of the new bad guys in town, and it gets personal when one of them takes a liking to Ella. So there’s lots of possessive protectiveness, which is always fun to read.
There’s fun alpha moments, epic grovelling scenes, steamy sex, and so much love between these two, and it’s an exciting ride watching them come back together.
“I’m holding you to this promise,” he whispered. “Mine forever, Ella.”
I really enjoyed this read. It’s a short one, but has a solid story, and I enjoyed getting to see more of the mysterious Cattle Crew, and the girls in town, with hints dropped for future books of this series, and I cannot wait to read more.
3.5 stars.
I really enjoyed this book with adventurous stories by some of my favorite authors. It was really great the way they all tied together.
Three of my favorite authors, Kat Martin, Alexandra Ivy and Rebecca Zanetti, have written three interwoven novellas and published them in Peril. These authors have a special way with words that make each story interesting and exciting.
Peril makes a fantastic summer read bringing action, romance and plot twists. I can only hope there is another anthology book coming from these three authors.
I received an ARC from NetGalley for my honest review.
Kat Martin, Alexandra Ivy, and Rebecca Zanetti are back with another anthology where the stories weave together. Suspense, murder, redemption and love await you. Grab a cup of iced coffee and see what I enjoyed about these tales….
Peril is the second anthology from Kat Martin, Alexandra Ivy, and Rebecca Zanetti, featuring intertwining tales. The first was Pivot, which I reviewed last week. In Peril, a group of bank robbers tie the stories together.
REDEMPTION – Alexandra Ivy (Book 4.5 in Pike, Wisconsin) This story offers a second chance at a missed romantic opportunity. You know, the one that got away. We meet Tessa Ralston is a police officer who lost her partner Colt and moved to Pike, Wisconsin. When she gets a tip that the criminal who killed her partner, she heads back to Denver. Detective Ian Sullivan has never forgotten Tessa and while he wants to capture their cop killer, he’s also ready to make his move. I loved the characters and the twists Ivy threw at us. While the chemistry was sizzling, the romance was served on the side. 4 cups
RESCUE: HERO STYLE – Rebecca Zanetti (Redemption Wyoming Novella #2) This tale offers a second chance at romance with plenty of suspense. Caden Scott, the town’s sheriff, has PTSD and instead of talking it through with his fiancée, he left without a word. Now he is back, and Ella is having none of it. I loved Ella’s spunk and respected her whys. I also felt for Caden, even if he messed up. Zanetti had some great secondary characters and really pulled me into the story. When a series of robberies occur and trouble arrives. Scott will need to win the girl back, save the town and protect her. I loved this story and really hope we get book one of the Redemption Wyoming series. 4.5 cups
ONE LAST KISS – Kat Martin (Blood Ties: The Logans #3.5) This tale delivers the conclusion to the anthologies while delivering a sweet & sizzling romance. Liberty “Libby” Hale is a makeup model whose world gets turned upside down when her Uncle Marty, the man who raised her, dies. In his will, he stipulates she must spend a month on a ranch in Wyoming working to inherit. I loved this city girl meets cowboy romance. Sam Bridger, cattle rancher, is taken aback when the city princess fits right in on the ranch. When a guest at the ranch causes trouble, it forces the two to face their growing attraction. Suspense, danger and swoons delivered an engaging read. I am curious to try the Blood Ties series. 4 cups
These anthologies that weave the same suspenseful thread are great reads and the perfect way to explore a new series. It isn’t necessary to have read the series mentioned to enjoy these stories.
Action packed and emotionally thrilling journey filled with dangerous and engaging charters, witty banter, heart racing twists and unexpected turns. Was a great read from beginning to end and so hard to put down. Three short stories by three awesome storytellers that all tie neatly together!
A group of bank robbers traveling the west, looking for their next target. Three novellas in one book, each has the bank robbing gang as a common thread. These three authors are some of my favorites. Each is a master at the mystery/ thriller with a little romance thrown in. The book is a quick read that had all of the suspense I look for in a thriller. This would make an excellent vacation book as each story can be read in an afternoon or less.
This is book 3.5 in the Blood Ties series. It’s been a great series and I hope she continues it🥰.
Tessa Ralston has built a new life in a small Wisconsin town. She left Denver after her partner was killed in the line of duty by a criminal names Deke Mitchell. The perpetrator was never caught and Tessa hasn’t forgotten.
When she receives news that the killer has been spotted in Denver, Tessa heads back there to hunt him down. She’s paired with Ian Sullivan from the local police. The pair had a one-night-stand before she left town so it’s a bit ackward at first. There’s clearly some heat left unresolved.
In an effort to catch the killer once and for all, Tessa and Ian team up. Soon Tessa learns that there is more going on than she knew about. Can she get the truth and catch the killer this time?
Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the advance copy in exchange for an honest review.
Oh my gosh, my type of book! Of course it is it’s written by 3 of the best authors for romantic suspense. Where one authors story ended another’s began. 3 strong heroines and 3 strong hero’s, and oh la la just what every girl dreams about. If you love romantic suspense this book is a must read!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own
OUTSTANDING!!! One Last Kiss by Kat Martin is book 2 in the Blood Ties series and though in a series this book can be read as a standalone. I have been reading Kat’s books for the past 20 years staring with her historical romances and she has alway been a favorite of mine so when she started writing contemporary novels I just had to read them. Her writing is so incredible and One Last Kiss will keep you on the very edge of your seat with this city girl meets cowboy. I just could not put this book down and read it in one sitting. It is great from page one to the very end. Kat is really has a true talent for writing. This story has a very rich city girl who is a model, death, a cause in a will, a very hot cowboy, expecting the worst, wonderful new friends, some pretty shady characters, going on a camping trip, attempted rape, needing to protect and falling in love but can a city girl and a ranch owner ever come together? You will just have to read this book for yourself to find out and I am highly recommending that you do!!!
***This book was gifted to me and I am voluntarily reviewing.
Fun stories! I enjoy stories with danger and romance, so each of these stories was entertaining for me. There’s 3 stories that have some interconnecting storylines, and there’s a different main couple for each story. I’ve read a lot of Zanetti, so that’s the author that drew me in, but each author did a good job. Each story had that passion and connection needed between the romantic leads, and exciting and dangerous action. An entertaining set of entertaining stories!
Peril is an anthology of 3 books by 3 great authors. We get Redemption by Alexandra Ivy, Rescue: Hero Style by Rebecca Zanetti, and One Last Kiss by Kat Martin.
Redemption is a second chance love story with a lot of suspense going on. Tessa is working cold cases in WI when she finds out that a cop killer is back. So she goes back to Denver and meets back up with Ian. From there you get twists and turns all while have them fall in love. I'd give it a solid 4 out 5.
Rescue: Hero Style is part of this author's Redemption, Wyoming series. Caden has PTSD and has a lot of issues that he needs to face. But when he leaves Elle in order to get treatment, he neglects to tell her what he is doing and why. And she leaves him the way he left her. When he comes back, he not only has to explain why but work to get her trust back. All while keeping her safe from the troubles that seem to be following her. So this one was my favorite of all 3. But then I always do love this author's stories. The story drew me in and as what I usually expect with this author-there seems to be a bigger story arc going on that will keep me reading and wanting to know more. I'd give this one 5 stars for me!
One Last Kiss was my least favorite of these stories. Normally I love this author's stories but I didn't really like this one and the way it flowed. Libby has to work on a ranch to get her inheritance (seemed very contrived) and I didn't like the way Sam treated her at times. I don't know, the writing was still good. I just didn't like the way the characters came together and how they acted towards each other at times. So it wasn't horrible and I would give it 3 stars, but wasn't my favorite either.
All in all, the whole anthology would get a 4 for me. The stories are well worth the read and you can never go wrong with these author's anyway.
Boy, I like Caden and Ella, but those Cattle Club men are something else! This is from Rebecca Zanetti’s story, which is my favorite! I can’t wait for more stories on those guys! The other two stories are great as well, lots of action and suspense. I hope this trio of ladies continue doing these books together.
An Amazing Trio of Stories!!
Redemption by Alexandra Ivy ***************
A cold case investigation, and a return to where her partner was killed. Many emotions, especially around the man she left behind. Great investigation and scintillating romance - a terrific combination.
Rescue: Hero Style by Rebecca Zanetti ***************
When a fiance walks away leaving only a note; do you give him a second chance? Especially when you see your mom take back your cheating father so many times. A touching story of choices, recovery and forgiveness.
One Last Kiss by Kat Martin ***************
Libby was raised by her Uncle when her parents were killed in a car accident. Now upon his passing, she must spend the summer working at a dude ranch to receive her inheritance. As a model for major cosmetics companies, it has been a long time since she did manual labor.
A struggle for sure, but a beautiful story of going back to your roots and realizing what is important in your life. Loved it.
***** I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book *****
Redemption by Alexandra Ivy: When the man who killed her former partner is seen in Denver, Officer Tessa Ralston returns to bring him down. Detective Ian Sullivan is thrilled that Tessa has returned, but can he help her capture the killer and maybe have a second chance for them? Others are working to help the killer in his rampage through town as Tessa is injured saving a life during a bank robbery. Will the news about her former partner bring Tessa peace that she was never responsible for his death? Rescue Hero Style by Rebecca Zanetti: Sheriff Caden Scott broke his engagement to Ella Riverton when he felt that his PTSD was a danger to her. Returning from PTSD Survival Camp, he feels ready to be the man she needs, who will protect her. Ella has no plans to forgive him and as bombs are set off throughout the town, Ella is kidnapped. Will he be able to find her before she is spirited out of town? One Last Kiss by Kat Martin: Liberty Hale was raised by her uncle who has passed away. His will states that to inherit, she must spend one month at the ranch of his friend. His friend’s son, Sam Bridge, is now in charge at the ranch and Libby is nothing like the city girl he expected. She slowly works her way into his heart and life. When she is kidnapped by a group of criminals, can he and his friends stop them before they leave the state? I really enjoyed all three stories and that justice was finally served. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (paytonpuppy)
This book includes three novellas that are surprisingly connected by the criminals. They all include romance and I think my favorite was the one by Alexandra Ivy, the one that is a second chance at romance trope. The other two are distinguished by their steam (Rebecca Zanetti) and the setting (Kat Martin). I enjoyed all three and enjoyed how they were definitely interlinked. One story would not have been complete without the others, so all three are a must read. The characters were well-developed but not all were likable or relatable. I enjoyed getting to know the protagonists and became anxious that the villains would never get caught, as they moved from one location and story to the next. This is a clever way to present a story and fun to read although the steam was not to my liking. I just skipped the sizzle and continued on with the plot which was intriguing and well-crafted.

Peril anthology
A cop killer plans a bank robbery in Denver, escapes and travels through Redemption, WY where a number of robberies occur. On the run again, the fugitive goes back to Colorado trying to escape capture.
Redemption by Alexandra Ivy
Pike, Wisconsin 4.5. Or series spin-off. Romantic suspense. Police procedural. Closed door.
Tessa Ralston is working cold cases in Pike, WI when she gets word that a cop killer is on the way back to Denver. She jumps on a plane and heads home to catch this criminal once and for all. Ian Sullivan is very happy to have Tessa back in Denver. He will partner with Tessa on the case and hopefully convince her to also heat up their past relationship and give it another try.
Suspenseful and action packed. A couple twists are eye opening for Tessa and spin her world around.
Rescue: Hero Style by Rebecca Zanetti
Redemption,WY series. Romantic suspense.
Caden has PTSD and nightmares. When he has one with Elle in his bed, he’s afraid he will hurt her, so he leaves to get training on dealing with his issues. Unfortunately he didn’t tell Elle all the details. She felt abandoned and left him. Now that he’s back, they need to deal with the misunderstandings if there is any hope of reconciliation. Meanwhile, a few new people in town are stirring up trouble and Elle seems to be in the middle of every time.
Emotional conflict, sheriff car stolen, coffee shop and diner robbed, dynamite charges going off and the CattleMan Club that Caden is sure is more than just helpful new citizens.
Plus, Harvey is a wild wolf but shows up in strategic places. He may be following Elle?
Definite unanswered questions in this story but the romance wraps successfully.
One Last Kiss by Kat Martin
Blood Ties: The Logan’s, #3.5. Romantic suspense.
Libby is an heiress. But in order to get her money, she needs to spend 30 days at a ranch. Working! Her Louboutins will never survive.
Sam was brought up with good manners. He can’t believe he made Libby carry some of her own luggage up to her room. But the will rules are strict and he’s to treat her like any other employee. It’s going to be a struggle to ignore his own attraction to the beautiful woman.
But is not all horses and hay bales on the ranch. Someone doesn’t want Libby to succeed. They want her dead.
I received a copy of this book from NetGalley
This is a trio of entwined romantic suspense stories written by three heavyweights of the genre. Each story is set in a favorite series of each author, offering an great introduction to readers who may not be familiar with them.
In Alexandra Ivy’s “Redemption”, a police officer returns to Denver when she learns the bank robber who killed her former partner is back in the city. Paired with the man she left behind, they’ll need to work together to stop history from repeating itself.
Rebecca Zanetti finds two members of the gang in Wyoming where they can’t seem to avoid creating more trouble. When they discover the sheriff’s estranged fiancé can identify them, the sheriff turns his sites on them in “Rescue: Hero Style”
Still on the run, the men find themselves back in Colorado, trying to lay low on a dude ranch. Still unable to behave, their strange behavior raises the suspicions of ranch owner Sam Brody. And Sam has some pretty dangerous friends in Kat Martin’s “One Last Kiss.”
These stories are written by some of my favorite suspense authors. They are face paced and perfect for reading in a single afternoon. They may be short, but they are full of action, suspense and surprises with each turn of the page.
Three fast-paced stories that will quench your thirst for romantic suspense.
Peril is a collection of three stories written by three outstanding romantic suspense authors. I certainly have nothing but love for these talented women. The stories share a connection through the villains that make an appearance in each one.
Redemption by Alexandra Ivy starts us off. It is related to the Pike, Wisconsin series. Tessa is a detective working on cold cases with Rachel, whose story can be found in Unstable. She is hot on the heels of the man who had murdered her partner in cold blood several years before. A valuable tip takes her back to Denver and into the sphere of Ian Sullivan, a fellow police officer with whom she has shared one night of passion. They find out they work well together in more ways than one. The story takes us through interesting twists and turns, leading to an unexpected development at the end.
Following this is Rescue: Hero Style by Rebecca Zanetti. Ella is bank manager in the small town of Redemption, Wyoming. She is trying her best to carry on with her life after her fiancé had broken things off with her in a note and then left town. Little did Ella know that the villains from the first story had made their way to her town to rob the bank. Caden, sheriff of Redemption and the missing fiancé, came back just in time for the fireworks to start. He had his work cut out for him to win Ella back. I loved the back-and-forth between Caden and Ella and their journey to trust each other again.
And the suspense concludes with One Last Kiss by Kat Martin. It is the prequel novella that starts off the Blood Ties: The Logans series. Libby can only claim her inheritance from her uncle if she complies with his stipulation to spend time on a ranch in Colorado. Sam Bridger was fond of Marty Hale, but he isn’t excited to babysit Marty’s niece for a princely sum of money that would go a long way to help the ranch. Their attraction grew as they spent more time together and things came to a head after an incident on a camping trip with a group of tourists on the ranch.
Each of these stories effectively combines romance with exciting action and suspense to create stories that will capture and hold your attention. These three authors have previously collaborated in a similar manner to create the equally thrilling Pivot. I can recommend both books if you love romantic suspense.
Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with a copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
While Martin's story appears to be a previously released novella, both Ivy & Zanetti's stories are new & written for the anthology. Both new stories do a decent job of introducing and initiating the gang's spree that Martin wraps up in her story, though in all 3 the plot is mainly just a means to bring the H/H together. The H/H in all three stories are interesting and make for good couples. Martin's was the weakest story for me due in part to the other 2 having 2nd chance storylines which made for the quick HEA ending required of a novella a little more realistic and have better flow. While all 3 stories are tied to romantic suspense series of the respective authors, they read independently, just giving the reader a sense of what type of story/writing/characters that they will find when expanding into the series themselves.
Kat Martin, Alexandra Ivy, and Rebecca Zanetti pool their talents to create three interconnected novellas. When criminal Deke Mitchell robs a Denver bank, he blazes a trail of danger and destruction across the lives of three women. The authors keep the plot twisting, with strong female characters and the protective males who love them. Recommended. #Peril #NetGalley #SaltMarshAuthors
