"The Other Mistress" is a different take on the premise of the movie "The Other Woman" and the story is totally narrated in the POV of Adira, a self-made entrepreneur who runs a successful designing/fabric business. When Adira discovers that her husband Gabriel is having an affair with a woman, her devastation is great; but when her investigation into the matter leads her onto Jocelyn, her husband's another mistress, her life as she knows it spirals down into a mess of mind games and craziness.

This book provides an interesting insight into two distinct personalities of women - those who lack the clout to fight for themselves and those who can weather anything to get what they want, by hook or crook. While Adira is of the former type, Jocelyn is her polar opposite in all the important things.

Despite the interesting premise, I was not exactly expecting the book to keep me hooked nor surprise me as it did. The rather simple and regular story is the perfect foil for the shocking twist which appears at the end - the reader most probably will never see that coming and that is the high point of the story.

This book is for you if you are looking to read something which is psychological and unexpected and makes for an interesting read.

3.75ish stars

This was a dramatic and suspenseful story. The writer creates tension in her thrillers, and they also contain a level of depth that other writers lack; that was apparent in this book as well. I enjoyed the story, and even though I figured out some of the twists before the end, they were still ultimately revealed in a way that was satisfying.

This authors books are constantly recommend all over my social media feeds. So when I saw this on Netgalley I knew I had to grab it and see what the hype is all about. Let me tell you this book was a heck of a ride. Adira is truly something else but Jocelyn has her beat. The twist and the drama in this book had me glued to the pages and there is room for a sequel which I would definitely read. Thank you Netgalley and Kensington Books for the ARC in exchange for my review.

First, thanks to the publisher for an advanced copy of this book. I found this book enjoyable but the ending was quite flawed and felt reminiscent of other thriller books I have read in the past. The main character Adira was difficult to empathize with due to her unhealthy obsession with getting pregnant with her multi-cheating husband. As things progress, you find out that not everything is as it appears to be and the book relies heavily on the "unreliable narrator" trope. I'll read more from this author, but this was not my favorite book of hers.

Oh boy. I have very mixed feelings about this book. On one hand, it was a great read and definitely captured my attention. On the other, it is a feminist nightmare and also uses a serious mental health issue to further the plot for entertainment. I was deeply fascinated by everything happening, and the unreliable narrator definitely kept us guessing. However there were other ways to write this ending without using a disability as a vehicle to get there. While I would read another book by this author I wouldn't recommend this one based on that fact.

Thank you to NetGalley and the author for my advance reader copy of this book.

The Other Mistress is breathtaking, thought-provoking, and heartbreaking. If you love mystery, drama, intrigue and thrilling elements, this book will have you on the edge of your SEAT. #TheOtherMistress #NetGalley

Adira is a wealthy business owner who is married💍to the love of her life, Gabriel. When she finds out that he's been cheating on her with two women, she does whatever she can to win him back.

It was so hard to sympathize with Adira because I could not understand why she put up with Gabriel and the way that he treated her! I was ready to rate this just an okay read, but then the most amazing twist happened, and this went from a good book to a great book!

Thank you @Netgalley, @kensingtonbooks, and the author for the gifted e-arc of this book!

Many thanks to NetGalley and Kensington Books Dafina for gifting me a digital ARC of this thriller by Shanora Williams - 4 stars!

Adira owns her own company and is happily married to Gabriel. Or so she thinks. She discovers that he is having an affair with not one but two women. She meets one of them, Jocelyn, who partners with Adira to get rid of the other mistress, Julianna, and that's when things go very wrong.

This was an intriguing story, with flashbacks to Adira's past giving clues to her current behavior. You'll find yourself screaming at Adira to leave Gabriel alone - she's successful, has a good support system, certainly doesn't need him. But stick with it - that twisty ending pushed it to be a 4 star read!

Thrilling and suspenseful! Full of twists and turns! This is one for a book club discussion, for sure. The character development was great and there were ones you liked and hated. I was feeling what they were. It was also one of a few that had me page by page trying to figure out how it would end!

The Other Mistress follows Adira whose husband Gabriel is cheating on her with two women. One of the women (Joycelyn) offer to help Adria get her husband back and get revenge on another mistress (Juliana). Adria & Joycelyn become friends with Joycelyn convincing Adria to do some questionable things which pushes her too far! This book was good, but it was not as good as the authors first two books. I will definitely read other books by this author. #theothermistress #netgalley

3.5 ⭐️’s
Adira is a highly successful business woman and seems to have it all. When she finds evidence that her handsome rugby playing husband is cheating on her, she’s devastated. As she delves in to see if she’s right, she finds out there’s not one but two mistresses! What’s wrong with her, why would he choose someone else? Now Adira can’t concentrate on anything but winning him back at all costs, no matter what it takes, but has he fallen in love with someone else? Why would she want to stay with her lying, cheating spouse? It finally all comes together in the end with a nice twist, but it was just an OK read overall. Thank you to Dafina and NetGalley for an ARC of this book.

This was my first book by this author and it won’t be my last! I would describe this as being a domestic thriller which is my favorite kind. THE OTHER MISTRESS was such a page Turner and the was completely engrossing. The plot and character development were amazing and the plot was well developed and atmospheric. While reading this it felt like I could hear a pin drop in my head. Thank you so much to the publisher and netgalley for this ARC!

Haunting and brutally raw, this gripping story was a real page turner.

The author writes a compelling story that will make you say hmm!

This story deals with some sensitive and difficult issues so reader beware of the trigger warnings. The author did a real good job in creating an original story about a subject that is all too familiar in relationships. How it all developed and evolved was jaw dropping!
The writing was strong and the plot flowed seamlessly.
When childhood trauma defines what you do when you don’t get what you want, you do what you have to do to survive.
But can you really do that?
What times of crisis do to a woman scorned is examined in this read and oh what a wicked web we weave.
Tread carefully nothing is EVER what it appears!

Oh yes. This was a twisty, turny, delicious book and I loved it. Just when you think you have it all figured out, forget it - - you're probably wrong!

The story is told from two women's perspectives with a few flashbacks to some young girls from the past. There's so much baggage tucked in there that you need a tractor to haul it all away. Ms. Williams did a fantastic job with this book of tossing out breadcrumbs but never really giving you solid information. So, you are left wondering if something "could be" true or not.

You learn quickly that the narrators may or may not be trustworthy with the information that is being parced out to you. So you have to read between the lines to determine what you think might be going on. Let me just say, there were times when I was reading this book that I was so outraged on Adira's behalf that I wasn't sure I could keep reading. But let's just say that I'm glad I did. The twists were well worth it even though my heart broke a little along the way for the characters.

Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC. I voluntarily chose to read and review it and the opinions contained within are my own.

Thank you netgalley for an arc in exchange for an honest review.

After a troubling past Adira Smith-Cortez now has it all. She is a self made millionaire and married to her true love. Until she discovers that he has been cheating not with one but two other women.

After loving the arc of The Wife Before last year and when your name is also the name of one of the mistresses (Jocelyn) I knew I could not pass this up. Eventho, the beginning started off a little slow by the middle I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. Think The Other Woman movie with Cameron Diaz but dark and with psychological twists thrown it that had me gasping.

Self-made multi-millionaire Adira’s husband is having an affair with two women, Jocelyn and Julianna. After meeting with Jocelyn, Adira requests Jocelyn’s help to save her marriage. Jocelyn agrees, but what are her intentions?

Adira’s fear of losing her marriage drives her and her desperation to keep leads to more and more desperate acts.

This quick read kept my attention from beginning to end! I wanted to see what Adira would do next and how Jocelyn fit into all of this. I loved the twists and the way this came together in the end! Plus, there are Easter eggs for The Wife Before and The Perfect Ruin.

If you like your thrillers messy (like me!), The Other Mistress is for you!
