I really love this series and it’s an auto read for me! Fiona is a great writer. No cheese, realistic dialogue, and great character development. That being said, this one featured less of the side characters I love, such as Jodie’s mom and daughter. I missed some of the family moments I enjoy, as this had a heavier emphasis on the police aspect with Jodie working on police staff rather than her catering business. Still provided a good mystery and ending I didn’t expect. A little spicy humor occasionally but not heavy handed. All in all, I always recommend this series because the characters are so engaging.

It's always a delicious treat to be spending some hours with Jodie "Nosey" Parker and her joyful gang in beautiful Cornwall!

In this latest addition to this warm and delightful series local folklore, criminal shenanigans and violent murder are coalescing into a very complex police investigation with lots of twisty turns, unexpected surprises and far too many potential suspects....

A cleverly plotted whodunit full of humor, sparkling dialogues and blessed with a terrific cast of exquisitely drawn characters that really deserves to be enjoyed without any moderation whatsoever!

Many thanks to HarperCollins UK and Netgalley for this wonderful ARC!

A light mystery set in the Cornish village of Penstowan. Local folklore tells the tale of the Siren taking her revenge on greedy fishermen, a legend celebrated at the yearly Mermaid Festival. But this year, the stone statue of the Siren goes missing, and a local fisherman is found dead. Jodie Parker, ex-Metropolitan police officer, and her boyfriend Nathan Withers, local DCI, work together to solve the crime.

This reminded me of British tv series that I’ve enjoyed, but it lacked the depth and charm I love. Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Another great tale in this Cornish police series. Jodie has to pause her catering company to work as an auxiliary police officer when a murder happens at the start of the village mermaid festival. The family dynamics and the relationships between the police officers make this a particularly engaging book. The Cornish setting makes it a perfect holiday read.

A former Officer in London, Jodie Parker moved back to her hometown to raise her daughter, who shared her fears of her mother being a police officer. Now, Jodie is a caterer and a bit of a sleuth. With a trial period as a DS in Penstowan, Jodie finds herself working with her boyfriend as well with her catering business.

When the town hosts their annual mermaid festival, things seem to go awry very quickly as a fisherman is drowned. Things continue to take a wrong turn and Nathan and Jodie finds hat the siren call may be more than just a thing of legends.

I’ve been reading this series since the first book came out and I can’t put it down when I get a new one in my hands. Jodie is easy to relate to being a single mother and caring for an elderly parent while still trying to keep a life of her own going. Love the cast of characters and will keep coming back for more as long as Fiona keeps writing!

A cosy crime read set in a beautiful Cornish seaside village featuring a former big city cop who finds herself entangled in a mystery. Part of a series but can be read as a standalone. An easy, enjoyable read.

Another brilliant Cornwall visit. I really look forward to the books in this series, they are easy to read, capture you immediately, and this one is so up to date in its issues.
It doesn't matter if you start from the first book, or pick up later in the series, enough back story information is given in each book to enable you to catch up.
An annual mermaid festival starts the proceedings, leading to casualties amid a turf war, initially thought to be drugs, but a more sinister plot unfolds.

Another great read to add to this series. Action packed with lots of drama, and some new characters to keep me entertained. Always enjoy these and look forward to them. Perhaps a little more serious than the last few, but I quite like that.

Another fabulous nosey Parker mystery. Very enjoyable, lovely to catch up with characters again and the beautiful seaside village. This one is another romp through the county chasing bad guys whilst listening and singing to ABBA. Lots of fun and frivolity and a fabulous read. Thankyou you netgalley for this arc in exchange for an honest review.

As always, a really enjoyable book with a good plot and interesting characters. I did miss the humour. As Jodie is an acting police officer, the story became more serious losing some of its uniqueness. Hope the next one will be a bit more offbeat. Hope I don't have to wait too long.

Auxiliary officer DS Jodie Parker of the CID was the daughter of a local cop and left her work at the Met Police. Now she is the single mom of a 13 yr/o daughter/dog owner/in a relationship with a local DCI (DCI Nathan)/ caterer.
All kinds of local madness with the Mermaid Festival that turns serious when a local man is found murdered. That brings in a lot of trouble, especially for the Parkers and the CID. Lots of good investigative work and a truly surprising twist at the end. I love all the characters and the ambiance of this rural seaside town. I do think that it can stand alone if needed.
I requested and received an EARC from HarperCollins UK/ One More Chapter via NetGalley. Thank you!

They're a superstitious lot in Penstowan. It's the mermaid festival, and the belief in the Sirens is still as strong as ever amongst the fishermen.

So when the stone statue goes missing from the church, and a fisherman is drowned on dry land, panic inevitably sets in.

But Jodie "Nosey" Parker, DCI Nathan Withers and the gang have way more to contend with than mere superstition.

Another brilliant adventure in this excellent series
